Catmander stuff

I’m sorry that the OP is frustrated. I am not sure why they didn’t just take a mesmer portal and be done with it. It clearly sounds as if they don’t enjoy blind jumps.

Had the OP simply offered a rant about the sort of jumping required, I wouldn’t bother responding further. But the OP went further and claimed as a fact that the requirements are poorly implemented and that it’s a problem that the game includes hidden content. The OP is entitled to their opinion; they aren’t entitled to extend their hyperbole by making factual claims that aren’t backed up by evidence.

In other words, the fact that this wasn’t fun for the OP doesn’t mean that this was badly implemented; it just means they don’t like it.

Does anyone else think the catmander stuff is poorly implemented?

In your opening sentence, you are clearly asking for other people’s opinions. Unfortunately, you don’t seem willing to accept those opinions:

…it does not change the fact that it is poorly implemented.

It’s not a “fact;” it’s your opinion and one that’s not shared by others.

You either need a mesmer portal or be able to close to pixel perfect jumps to reach those cats.

It’s not true that you need pixel perfect jumping. The larger problem is that these are blind jumps and it’s hard to see where to go. That isn’t any different than what’s used in other JPs. I’m not a fan of this "difficulty by (literal) obscurity design, but it’s not new.

On Desert BL, there’s actually a decently easy way to go that I found because I dropped to the ‘wrong’ spot hoping to get an angle on where to go. It didn’t require a perfect jump or close to it; I just had to trust I remembered where the opening was, after I moved from where it was easier to see.

To make the matter worse each time you fail the jump you are spending roughly a minute to get into position to try again and if you fail miserably you can even die, multiplying the time to get back by 3 since its unlikely to see anyone else around who can rezz you. (Even ignoring the fact that it is a pvp area where other players can potentially kill you)

On Desert BL, it’s about 10 seconds to return using leaps/swiftness/etc, about 20 without. It’s longer on Alpine, but not 60 seconds. Similarly, while you can die on Alpine, I don’t think you can on Desert.

And of course, there are potential foes — it’s wvw. But last three times I was there, none of the enemies bothered me.

All to unlock fluff for your home instance noone else is going to see.

This statement confuses me. Is it meant to show that this isn’t worth caring about? In which case, why bother with the post? Is it a form of sour grapes? It doesn’t seem relevant to your main point.

I think requiring these pixel perfect jumps into places you cannot see and figure them out by trial and error is much worse problem than the high resource price (gift of battle) to unlock these cats. It is basically 100% frustration and 0% fun to get there.

You only need GoB to unlock the Alpine; the Desert cat eats a can of food available for 5 Badges of Honor.

Putting aside your opinion that these require pixel-perfect jumps, are you really claiming that (a) there are no other JPs with blind jumps? (b) that there are no other JPs that require trial & error? (c.) that other JPs aren’t frustrating?

Plus without the dulfy guides 99,99% of the playerbase would not even find these locations at all, which is a problem in itself.

It’s actually an awesome thing. If you don’t want to be spoiled by Dulfy guides, it’s not hard to go off on your own to find stuff. That gives exploration fans something to do and something to brag about finding on their own (and to tell Dulfy — she, too, is part of the community relying on others for help; she’s just also the one who meticulously documents it all).

[Suggestion] QOL: Multiple mystic forging

Illconceived Was Na.9781

This suggestion comes up at least once a week, so you’re not alone in wanting it.

There are a couple of reasons why it hasn’t happened yet, the primary being that there are economic implications if it becomes a lot easier — some things are profitable precisely because of how dull/repetitive they are. (This doesn’t mean ANet shouldn’t do this; it just means they have to be ready to deal with the side effects first, and those are a lot harder to figure out).

Another reason is that ANet has tried to leave the crafting station as the tool for repetitive “manufacturing” and the forge for random, legendary, and one-off changes.

So my hope is that, after dealing with the market challenges, they move all fixed promotions to the crafting stations and change basic/fine mat promotions so that they aren’t random (and move them to crafting, too).

That leaves the forge for random stuff, legendaries, stat changing, and all that one-off stuff. So in the end, they won’t need to update the forge UI, because repetition will move to crafting.

Can’t blame you, bobsort. The odds aren’t good for getting the stuff you really want. Better to spend the gold (or gems converted to gold) directly on the stuff you do want; in the long run, most people will save time & money (and frustration).

BL keys are good idea only for people who think the moment of excitement just before opening is worth 125 gems (or 93 gems for the next few hours).

They aren’t likely to add the Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlocks to the gemshop for a couple of reasons. First, they are a major perk of the BL Chests and making them available separately devalues BL Keys, something they already sell. Second, it’s a guaranteed unlock — it would interfere with the otherwise healthy trading post markets in fancy skins.

I can see why people (including myself) like these, but I can’t see ANet making them available in quantity.

The only reason I like using BL keys is that moment of anticipation right before I see the contents. That’s the fun part of gambling, so if you’re missing out on that… never buy (or farm) keys.

For the tradeable stuff, I figure out how much I’m willing to spend to unlock whatever. At 110 gold for 400 gems (typical rate most of 2017), you can get 25 keys for 550-600 gold. Today, with an exchange rate of 126:400, it’s about 500 gold for 25 keys.

The Permanent Hair Stylist is 3800g (insta buy on the TP), so I ask myself: do I think I’d get one to drop if I opened 175 BL chests? Answer: nope, not with my luck, so I get more fun out of saving up to buy it on the TP.

(Sneaky way to save up the gold: put in a buy offer for that very thing for the first 100g you can spare. When you have another 100, cancel the order and make a new one for 200g. Eventually, you’ll have a buy offer high enough that it might succeed via someone instantly selling… or you’ll have enough to buy outright.)

Obviously, everyone’s idea of fun varies so some might prefer hoping-against-hope while others like saving up. (And to be fair, more than a few of us prefer to just complain about how if we didn’t have bad luck, we wouldn’t have no luck at all.)

Normal prices:

  • Single Key: 125 gems
  • 5 Keys: 450 gems
  • 25 keys: 2100 gems

Today:

  • Single: 93 (74.4% of normal)
  • 5 keys: 337 (74.8% of normal))
  • 25 keys: 1575 (73.25% of normal)

So the actual prices are all ~25% off or better.

tl;dr it’s a display error (and a seemingly easy-to-prevent one at that)

edit: Ambika might be correct about 2125; I was going off a reddit post comparing chest content value to key costs; I didn’t actually have a screenshot.

I know we all do more damage and have more fun when our characters look great… but as a new player, I’d recommend just, well goofing around and having fun with the game itself.

Go with a discount white for now and build up to be able to afford the fancier dyes. In the meantime, put in a buy order for your favorite dye at … let’s say 133 gold. If it drops down that much, great; you got the color for cheaper. If not? well, you can cancel the offer and replace it with a higher bid… when you’ve got more to spend.

A great resource for finding more affordable variations is the dye picker at GW2BLTC.

Permafrost Matches

  • Eternal Ice is slightly pinker and retails for 190g
  • Celestial is an 82% match and under 30 gold.
  • White is a greyer 73% match, but under 7 gold.

Caveat: colors are typically mapped in three dimensions (e.g. Red|Green|Blue or Hue|Saturation|Brightness), but the matcher uses a single number to determine “match”. Particularly for whites & blacks, you’ll see lots of off colors, so a “worse match” might actually suit your needs better.

If you don’t want to hear disagreement, why post in a public forum? The reason people don’t do dungeons is that there’s a lot of stuff out there with competitive rewards — the lack of which was a major deficit in the game before.

I’m not interested in hearing the same tired excuse, that is why I adressed it preemptively. If you want to add something to it, go for it. But the fact is, anet purposefully killed off the dungeon community, and that drastically changes the experience for the worse.

You don’t get to decide, preemptively or otherwise, what counter-arguments there are. Because, if you did, someone else could say, “we’ve already said fractal rewards and daily rewards are great; there’s nothing more to say.”

ANet didn’t kill off the dungeon community; the community decided that the rewards were better elsewhere. What ANet did was make it so that dungeons were no longer vastly superior to other types of content… Moreoever, after complaints, ANet rebuffed the rewards so that they are close to where they were before HoT — people didn’t return, because they realized that there’s all sorts of other content out there that is also rewarding.

In other words, the game has more diverse methods of making gold than ever; that’s a good thing.

Anet decimated the amount of daily content we had. They promised us that fractals would be taking up the slack and be the developed 5 man content going forward. But it doesn’t matter how many new fractals we get, as the daily fractal system limits the amount of daily content. There could be 200 fractals, and we would only get rewards for 3 per day in this system.

If you think you only get 3 rewards per day for doing fractals, you’re not looking at all your loot.
.

Please reread, you misread. I did not say you only get 3 rewards, wtf would that even mean. I said, you only get rewards for 3 fractals per day. That is accurate, 3 fractals per day give the full rewards, 6 if you want to include recs. However considering pages are worthless, I don’t include recs.

Please re-read. You get rewards for all the fractals you do each day. You don’t get a special bonus reward for additional fractals. And pages are far from useless — if you want HoT stats (and probably for PoF stats), there’s a considerable discount in materials (not to mention we can avoid the need for fulgurite).

There’s plenty of daily content to do. It’s a lot more diverse than it used to be.

@Djinn: ANet’s never stated why they are so adamant about including the Gift of Battle and requiring WvW participation. You’ve stated it was to force people to play WvW; I’ve guessed (and said it was a guess) that there was another reason, i.e. to demonstrate participation in multiple aspects of the game.

It’s fine to disagree with ANet’s decision. I was commenting about trying to justify that disagreement based on a assumption of their motivation.

If it were left up to me, I’d either skip any non-PvE requirements or require more of them: if you have to WvW to get the Gift of Battle, why not require PvP to get the Gift of Glory? And if getting people to try other modes is the reasoning, why not require adventures for all Generation 2 legendaries? (And sure, I’d also make it more consistent for Legendary Armor: if that’s meant to be a raid-exclusive reward, then make the requirements exclusive to raiding.)

Fortunately for us all, I don’t work at ANet.

Na was just shortening the two events you mentioned.

My apologies, War, since you were the one who had made the comments, I thought you’d get the reference. I shouldn’t be so lazy about typing things out.

To your point: updating content is a lot easier than updating a game engine. There’s no comparison between fixing an old festival and changing the way the entire game works.

And while I’m sure you’re plenty knowledgeable about DX11 and so on, I think I’ll trust ANet’s engineers comments about whether the benefits outweigh the risks.

The Fractal Overhaul - Concept

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The diversity I’m aiming for is not playing the same build in every single Fractal. However, the only way to change that is to put the difficulty in the Fractals’ enemies/instabilities, so it forces you to change your play-style, and use every aspect of your class, instead of being a ‘master of one build’.

Not going to happen, because it defies human nature. It also goes against the grain of ANet’s philosophies: all profs should be viable (though perhaps not optimal) & there should be multiple successful strategies for completing challenges.

Some of us already swap traits, skills, profs, etc per fractal and some of us never do. Changing the instabilities to force that will annoy the latter group, who will either find new static builds to do the content or skip fractals.

Further, it’s clear that some instabilities don’t mesh well with certain fractals, which is why they aren’t applied randomly.

I’m not against the idea of more variety in instabilities or different challenges — the existing ones have been around for ages and could use some attention. I just don’t see how this proposal makes the game more fun for most people.

Even if ANet added a new reward system, the problem expressed in the original post here wouldn’t magically disappear. It occurs whenever there’s a reward — many people who can do content quickly don’t want to team up with people who can’t (or don’t want to); some of them will be jerks about it. (And likewise, some people don’t recognize that they aren’t as skilled and will be jerks about insisting they have a right to join groups that disagree with that assessment.)

Doing fractals already has a pretty good reward; there’s no need to add more.

Doing fractals has a good reward, for 30 minutes a day.

It has a great reward for 30 minutes a day; it has a good reward for additional time spent, depending on your group’s speed.

My proposal wouldn’t add anything to that reward. What if I wanted to play gw2 for a few hours on the weekend? Daily dungeon tours use to give a lot more daily content, now we have a ton less.

Daily dungeon tours give about as much reward as they ever did, with most of the liquid gold transferred to increased tokens, if you do 8 unique paths per cycle.

And I’m not interested in hearing anything like, ‘dungeons are still there’. They are still there, the community however is not, and that was Anet’s stated intent.

If you don’t want to hear disagreement, why post in a public forum? The reason people don’t do dungeons is that there’s a lot of stuff out there with competitive rewards — the lack of which was a major deficit in the game before.

Anet decimated the amount of daily content we had. They promised us that fractals would be taking up the slack and be the developed 5 man content going forward. There could be 200 fractals, and we would only get rewards for 3 per day in this system.

If you think you only get 3 rewards per day for doing fractals, you’re not looking at all your loot.

Doing fractals has good rewards already. I don’t think ANet needs to guarantee that there are multiple farms.

And regardless, adding or killing a farm won’t remove jerks from the game; it will just move them to a different area.

I think it’s good for the game to have a handful of items that are so rare and coveted that the price makes it hard to obtain. It’s awesome for the lucky who don’t need to look fantabulous all the time and it gives the rich something to do with their monies.

If you really want one, you can make an offer at GW2 Exchange. There are a couple of power traders who sell them, as well as trusted middlemen who will guarantee the off-TP trade (for a fee).

An observer of the market expects the price to be ~15k gold, although I think you might be able to get by at 13k.

It doesn’t speak well of any game mode if the developer has to gate certain items behind a game mode just so people will play it.

Is that why Legendary items require the Gift of Battle? I was under the impression that the reason was that the items are legendary and that they are meant to demonstrate active participation in multiple aspects of the game.

No offense Danikat, but that is horrendous! Haha. Great challenge idea, a few players that show off they’re prestigious-ness via their appearance almost always look like a cat puked up xmas decorations.

….
Fair enough if you want to show off legendaries/rare stuff. But come on atleast make it look good, you don’t need all the stuff/auras on one character. But to each their own, right?

I’m not sure that Danikat owns all of that. I think they were trying to show the “most prestigious in slot” skins via the preview window.

If Danikat actually owned all that, then we can be sure that

  • We’d have seen a Danikat Character™ in Tyria, not in preview and

Yeah, I’m not sure about what should be used to slow clover acquisition (to remain comparable to the reward tracks). “Journal pages” is a time gate that doesn’t look like a time gate and it adds incentive for people to do recommended dailies. While it’s true that some people have hoarded them (myself included), that surplus would probably run out for most people before completing a legendary (starting from 0 clover).

What am I to do with unuseable birthday dyes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

What do you guys think about forging them?

Assuming they can be put into the Mystic Forge…

Forging them into what exactly? Another rare dye? If so, that wouldn’t help the folks that already have collected all the rare colors — unless those forged colors could be sold, but then you would still need four rare dyes, so people would either have to collect the account-bound ones or buy three additional cheaper rare ones.

I don’t know, that doesn’t sound good either way. I’d rather have them not be account-bound to begin with.

So there are some folks with 70 characters. They’d never spend gems on dye kits, they’ll never need to spend gold on dyes on the TP, and they’re going to get a choice of dyes that they can sell on the TP at premium prices.

There’s a balance — it’s virtually impossible to have a gift that is equally or even comparably valuable to everyone. Folks who collect dyes have had two years to prepare for the likelihood that the 5th year would also include newer, gem-shop dyes. In the meantime, they’ve gotten a lot of time to enjoy those dyes already, without waiting.

So it really comes down to a philosophy: does ANet balance so things are fair for the vast majority of players? Or so that they are fair for the minority that (like me) are impatient to get their hands on new colors?

You heard the man, let’s have your suggestions!

I support:

  • Reduced silver cost for obbi shards.
  • Fractal specific foods or recipes.
  • Invisible & ordinary 20-slot bags.

With other changes, I’d also support

  • Mystic Clover: it shouldn’t allow people to get more than 2 faster than folks can with wvw/pvp reward tracks, so maybe also require journal pages or something of the sort.
  • Guild hall decorations (seems “lighter” on dev time than armor or weapon sets), but probably needs to go along with other decoration/scribe updates, too.

I don’t particularly support

  • Mystic Coins — those seem fine as a limited reward, especially if you can get clover directly.

I’m sorry you didn’t find HoT fun.

I also had a lot of trouble when I first started HoT. It was some time after launch and the maps were relatively unfilled. I was unprepared for the skills used by the mobs, the speed and type of attacks, and the amount of damage & conditions.

Instead of trying to keep going (and getting frustrated repeatedly), I tried to adjust my playstyle and builds to deal with the new challenges. I now find it easy to traverse most of the maps (most of the time) and handle the HoT story.

But here’s the thing I learnt from the (buggy) system: When you let the bug happen, the next time (i.e., the third time) you receive the item, the bug gets corrected and you receive keys in retrospect as well as for the newly drawn dublicate.

Since I opened tons of these memory boxes and the “self-fix” never occured, it is save to say that these items do not qualify as “duplicates” and the repeated drop is deliberate.

So… you haven’t actually checked with support about these items. OK.

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The Black Lion Daily Herald made it to the ANet Meet & Greet in Cologne, Germany (aka Köln, DE) and spoke briefly to Mike Z, the new Lead Game Designer. You can read the full story on FB or pasted to reddit. Here’s the stuff I found interesting (verbatim or [paraphrased]; questions by Herald, but emphasis mine):

  • There will be no build templates at the launch of Path of Fire. …they are aware the community wants
  • All features for the expansion have been revealed, so we shouldn’t expect any other surprising reveals.
  • [did] they [have] plans to make Chronomancer the main tank for raiding? …it was never their intention…players are too clever
  • …have even considered adding a new race for PoF? Mike said new races in GW2 are “not impossible but very unlikely” to appear in the future. Implementing them would require a lot of resources that can be spent better on creating new content relevant for all players.
  • Queen’s Jubilee and Dragon Bash? …due to the changes in tech, both of those events need updating just like Super Adventure Box did … Mike said that they want to bring back both events in the future.
  • With 4 weeks left to the launch of the expansion we shouldn’t expect new “current events/side stories” right now.
  • …what happened with the Dervishes that we remember from #GW1? [will we] meet any of them as NPCs? Mike smiled and replied “I will let you discover it”.
  • [are they] checking the meta for example from qT to see which classes are omitted by the min-maxers? Mike said that they are in fact checking that, but balancing things is not that easy, cause players will always find class compositions and synergies of classes that are the most optimal and some classes will always simply end up being less represented. What’s important though is that right now even though not every class is considered to be optimal (meta), it is possible to use any of them in a raiding environment and they are all viable. Mike himself raids using non meta classes.
  • Renegade …underwater skills? Mike …thinks it’s a bug.
  • underwater combat? Mike was kind of dodgy here and only replied that things can always get better.

Your PFL (Personal Fractal Level) is what determines what LFG you can search for, not your agony resist. You have to play lower scale fractals to raise it.

Or (to progress your PFL), join friends who are doing higher-level fractals. PFL progresses by 1 each time you do a fractal of the same or higher level, e.g. to progress from PFL 35, you can do any fractal L35-L100. (You just can’t use the LFG for 51+.)

On that basis, there’s no need to have rewards for any content in any game ever. If dungeons are what people want to do, there’s no need to reward them with (formerly unique-to-dungeon skins). If WvW is what people like, there’s no need to add unique skins there either.

Exactly.

You want rewards in the game in general to make players feel rewarded for playing this game instead of any other, but so long as players are in game and having fun, it shouldn’t matter which activities they are doing, and there’s no reason for ANet to say “play this mode instead of that one, you’ll get a fancy unique skin for doing so.”

Sigh, no. People enjoy games in part because there are rewards; they enjoy their preferred mode more because there are unique rewards.

There are all sorts of rewards that are obtainable regardless of game mode and there are also rewards unique to the content. That makes for a more enjoyable game for most players.

So again, there’s a reason no matter how much you keep saying there is none. It just doesn’t happen to be a reason you support.

Lvl 40 fractal farm meta toxicity

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Obviously op should just make their own group, but I want to bring up something else.

Can we replace the fractal 40 farm with something better? How about a repeatable achievement to do all fractals 25-50, that has a really good monetary reward? I think it would be a lot more interesting to run through a variety of lower level fractals, rather than the same fractal again and again. Additionally, this would probably lead to more interesting team comps, and filling a lot of the void left behind by the killing of dungeons.

ANet didn’t invent the fractal 40 farm. It’s an accident of the fights being quicker than anything else. As long as a certain fractal can be done in sub-3 minute time, that will be the farm. If there isn’t any such fractal, people will return to Silverwastes RIBA, realize that other maps (besides Frostgorge) also have weeks worth event farming, or get creative and invent some other farm.

Players who like to farm are a lot like Ants: if there’s a picnic, they’ll find it and be all over it. And there’s always a picnic somewhere.

Doing fractals already has a pretty good reward; there’s no need to add more.

Thoughts on decreasing waypoints

The latest map, Siren’s Landing, is a great mix: there’s one waypoint and, for a nominal amount of local currency, you can ‘buy’ no-cost/in-map access to 4 more. I don’t feel it’s hard to return to an event at all.

Similarly, the previous map might have only 3 waypoints, but with gliding alone, you can reach everything as quickly as in core maps.

There are certainly a few maps that could stand another active wp or two, but on the whole, I don’t accept that new maps are harder to get around on.

Since PoF hasn’t released, I don’t think we can speculate about how easy/hard it’s going to be, especially with mounts.

It shouldn’t come down to the luck of the draw on which CS person gets my ticket as to whether I am worthy of a solution or not.

It should be consistent, but won’t always be. There will always be new people and creative people (or uncreative) working support. Managers try to ensure consistency, but each case presents its own challenges. A simple request can be easier to fulfill than a complex one and it’s easier to have established formal process for older rewards than for stuff that just dropped.

If you don’t feel the initial response was reasonable, then appeal the decision.

The evasive FOTM Ascended chests

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

… the rough average of 10-12% for all ascended gear…

Average drop rate for ascended boxes (weapons+armor) is about 20% (confirmed by KING) for a full daily T4 run.

Near 500 daily runs since 19/04/16 patch means 1 T4 run everyday since then and 6000 dailies chests.

On an another hand, near 500 dailies chests means 41 daily T4 runs and 10 boxes would be a 24% drop rate.

KING data

  • That’s 58 armor + weapon per 627 T4 runs (all chests combined).
  • That’s a drop rate of 9.25%.

The other rates you’re looking at refer to something other than “per T4”, e.g. “a full run of three T4”.

Since the quote to which I was responding mentioned a specific number of fractal runs, the apples:apples comparison is with single runs, not triplets.

The context repeated:

I’ve run almost 500 fractals and I’ve gotten less than 10 amor/weapon boxes (in total). RNGejsus pls xD

KING’s data, for running 500 T4 fractals, would be in the 40-60 range, so only 10 ascended boxes is far, far, far below what we’d expect.

There are lots of possible reasons for the difference: human nature (we remember bad luck better than good and ‘average’ luck hardly at all), RNG, record keeping, a drop rate change, and a misunderstanding of “500 fractals” (maybe that’s T3 or maybe they meant 500 fractal chests, which would be more like 125 T4 runs, for which 10 ascended boxes is just fine).

There absolutely is a reason, you just don’t support it.

If raids are something people want to do, then there is no need for it to have a unique reward.

If raids are not something that people would want to do without a unique reward, then they are doing a disservice to their customers by bribing them into playing it.

On that basis, there’s no need to have rewards for any content in any game ever. If dungeons are what people want to do, there’s no need to reward them with (formerly unique-to-dungeon skins). If WvW is what people like, there’s no need to add unique skins there either.

But the fact is that commercially successful game include fun content that also feels rewarding to participants, including epic rewards for challenging content. That is absolutely a reason and you just happen to disagree with it.

As Donari says, it’s a limitation of the forums, not an entirely-intended restriction by ANet. The forum software was built by a 3rd party with whom ANet not longer has a business relationship, which makes it difficult for ANet to change a lot of things about the current structure.

There are some rumors that ANet might be replacing the system with a new one. Unless/until that happens, we’ll have to deal with a number of relatively minor issues.

For what it’s worth, I find that it’s always possible to edit a title to fit. It just takes an extra minute or two.

There’s a number of timegates on new accounts, mostly to prevent crooks from laundering funds using them, after purchasing the game via stolen card etc. So there are limits on trading, for example.

There are all sorts of warnings about it in various places, but even when I know about them, I usually forget/don’t notice until I try to do something and go “oh yeah, that’s a block”.

Obviously it’s inconvenient for new players, especially those trying to take immediate advantage of the L80 booster. However, it would be a lot worse for the game if we didn’t have the restrictions. Life in the age of hacking. :/

Inappropriate NPC Name

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Yes, this is the core point. IF the name is inappropriate for a player in a game where French speaking people might somehow be offended, then it SHOULD be changed for the NPC for the same reason. Be consistent or drop the pretense.

There are a bunch of different reasons and a bunch of different filters. If you think something should be blocked, /report it. If you think something should not be blocked, file an appeal via support ticket.

If you think there’s an inconsistency, then also tell ANet.

They can only act on the things that they know about. And, keep in mind, our first point of contact might not have the power to do much more than look at a list to see if they can divine the reasoning; if you want someone to make an exception, you might have to be patient until the relevant staff member can take a look.

In that light I don’t think its that unreasonable for players to expect fractals to get leg armor, since its much more relaxed than raids are.

And open world PvE as well, since there are many players who have no interest in ANY form of organized group content. There is absolutely no reason why raids should be a source for PvE legendary armor.

There absolutely is a reason, you just don’t support it.
(For the record, I’m not a fan of ANet’s choice to have only one set of legendary skins in the game and make them only obtainable in one area. But I don’t question that they feel that Raids needed an epic reward beyond the usual stuff one can get at any vendor.)

500 T4 fractals?

10/500 is a 2% drop rate, which is much lower than the rough average of 10-12% for all ascended gear. If your rate is that low, I’d start keeping track (easiest way is to save your chests for a month or three and count the chests as you open each tier). If you’re still seeing rates that low, I’d submit a support ticket.

If you exit LS3 instances and return (starting them with the same toon), you’ll be back after the last major encounter you completed. It’s not as convenient as an in-instance restart option, but it works.

I would have preferred being returned to just before the next big encounter (instead of after the last one completed), to avoid going through all the dialogue and waiting in between.

Even though I completed Henge of Denravi, when I exited the story at the “Fearless” fight I re-entered at the oath / throwing stones part and had to do Henge again. Over and over again.

Unless they fixed that recently.

Unsurprisingly, it’s inconsistent whether it’s a challenge mote or F12 to return to same spot :/

You only get the “completed the story” rewards once per character and the “completed the achievement/challenge” rewards once per account.

You can take other toons through the story, but that’s not nearly as efficient as participating in the Dragon’s Stand meta (and, in my opinion, not nearly as fun, and I am not a huge fan of hour-long meta events).
