yes, and that feature already works. I did a guild karka queen one of those days after the patch and it actually took noticeably longer than one of these scheduled megaserver karka queens.

Ascended trinkets are easy to get so just break down you exotics. If you really, really need every single exotic armour then you are going to have problems with any option mentioned above.

well here’s the deal if you could reset WAP out of combat then u could easily switch between ram mastery or cata mastery, etc. depending on the situation so no I don’t think they would allow this. I think it’s nice enough they reset the points for us after they introduced the account bound WXP patch.

It seems clear that ArenaNet WILL adjust their pricing scheme for world transfers because it would be utter nonsense to go back to their old pricing scheme of “Very High, High, Medium, and Low” population servers when now everyone is a part of the megaserver(s) (minus the NA/EU split).

Currently the pricing scheme is based on WvW rank positions in gold, silver, and bronze leagues and they are charging a massive amount of gems to servers that were higher ranked in their leagues at the start of the tournament.

We know after the tournament, they will need to come up with a new pricing scheme or possibly revert to the old scheme (even though it makes little sense with megaserver structure) or they could be nice and eliminate transfer fees entirely.

It might be wishful thinking for them to do so but hey they eliminated armor repair and trait reset fees (with the tradeoff of reduced silver income in events bleh, increase guild startup costs, super pricy trait unlocking costs, etc.).

So something is going to change with world transfer costs or the world transfer system, and they already have something in the works before I made this suggestion. This is why in their blog post about megaserver they had that tidbit about the effect on WvW.

I think for the next/last 5 weeks of the spring tournament things will stay the same. and then we may see some big changes with world transfers afterwards.

one final thing to consider is the mistforged hero weapons and how they planned to have several WvW tournaments so that players could earn enough tickets to forge one over the course of 2 or more tournaments. This suggests that server identities may remain intact at least for WvW.

1st and only attempt: fail (didn’t seem to be enough numbers)

post-megaserver

1st attempt: fail with 1% health remaining
2nd attempt: fail with 70% health remaining
3rd attempt: fail with 98% health remaining lots of scales at the start
4th attempt: success! with about 2 min left on the clock!

O please I use the wiki and oftentimes it has inaccuracies for example the one you copy and pasted. And no I’d rather not spend a whole lot of time reading about one-off server transfer glitches on the forum. In the vast majority of cases 99%+, the transfers are done immediately.

No, you were stretching it making it seem as if server transfers were more of a hassle than they actually are. We know this is not the case because in the early days you could transfer multiple times per hour to do things like WvW map completion.

The lesson here is to help yourself first, THEN help others.

I did this myself with karka queen and missed it twice because I was telling them karka queen was up or showing them how to get there and then when I returned to southsun cove karka queen was dead.

If you want the trait, get it for yourself first then you can consider helping others.

Well since you complained about ArenaNet not wanting anymore of your money. Your solution is simple. Buy a 2nd account and buy more bank slots over there hon if you really want to hoard so much stuff.

Otherwise, start selling.

EDIT: ok before you go that far, you could always buy more character slots and use them as storage units. but please just try to dispose of some redundant and sub-optimal items first.

For some, it may be relatively quick (5 minutes or so), for others, not so much.

‘To transfer to a different world, go to the character selection screen (using F12 or when you first logon) and select the desired world; you will be logged out while the game makes these changes, which might take 5-30 minutes. You can transfer once every seven days at a cost determined by the destination server population.’

You sound a person that’s never actually done a server transfer yourself. So please, unless you have first-hand experience that a server transfer actually took 30 minutes, do not copy and paste the company’s caution messages which don’t actually reflect reality.

The server transfer is done in the blink of an eye and it certainly does not take 30 minutes or even 5 minutes. Click transfer, log off, log back on, done. That is what I and hundreds of other players have experienced.

They can’t guest between NA and EU servers for technical reasons. The account information is stored in one of 2 places, the EU server side or the NA server side. Because the 2 sets of servers are separate, there can’t be guesting between them.

But they can easily do account transfer from NA to EU and vice versa because we saw this at the start of the game.

And this can take up to 30 minutes. I’m not sure how many people would be willing to wait half an hour to guest to another server. Besides being, most likely, cost-ineffective.

30 min? No, whenever I did a server transfer it was near-instantaneous. The client closes and you log back in and you’re on the other server.

I think you should try warrior or elementalist. Elementalist have lack of always equipped weapons but they have attunement swaps and utility weapons so overall not so bad.

Now servers can’t buy effectively any more because of the 2-week lockout. I wish this stays even after the tournament. They can make transfers free, but there should be another sort of penalty for leaving your server, and the lockout does it quite fine.

We know the reason why people don’t do that… because of “queues” and because servers are listed as “Full”. But with Megaservers, how exactly is one server more full than another?

With the mega-server system, the only reason you desperately want to transfer would be of WvW reasons. I actually like how it is now. It’s been made hard to abandon your server and bandwagon. The 2-week lockout also helps prevents servers buying guilds and what not. For PvE players, I don’t think server transfers matter that much

Actually, the problem of “servers buying guilds” started because of paid transfers (along with guesting). Why would anyone see the need to “buy a guild” if all transfers were free as they were during the initial rollout of the game.

Remember, gem fees for world transfers only started when guesting was rolled out. Now that guesting is useless because of Megaservers, why do we need to pay gem fees for world transfers exactly?

I agree that guesting is pretty useless now, but free world transfers would create chaos for WvW. The short-term free transfers they did pre-season 2 to certain servers were bad enough.

It’s not going to create any more chaos than there was at the beginning of the game. I’m suggesting that they eliminate the transfer fees AFTER the spring tournament is over or setup some new WvW system.

Now that Megaservers are out, guesting is irrelevant. World Transfers should be free as they were in the beginning of the game. Guesting should be allowed between NA/EU or it should be easy to transfer to between them with free transfers.

Another thing is. Are they willing to eliminate a source of income that was manufactured several months after the game’s release.

Remember back in the old days, server transfers were FREE. And the reason they gave for the added gem fees for world transfers was the introduction of the guesting feature.

Now that guesting is made completely irrelevant with the introduction of megaservers, it only makes sense that world transfer fees should also be eliminated but are they willing to hurt their bottom line. They’re certainly not going to do anything while the tournament is ongoing.

But I would like to see the return of free world transfers. Also, maybe you should be able to guest on two servers so you can help them out in WvW (as long as they’re not the enemy servers of your home server that week). Imagine all the possible alliances that could form under a new free transfer system. I would still limit transfers to once a week or once every two weeks so people don’t hop around TOO often.

I dunno. They’re going to have to work it out. What purpose does guesting even serve now. Maybe if I could guest from EU to NA or NA to EU that would be great.

I don’t like having guild groups in my eotm matches but I don’t blame them because there is no suitable GvG format (obsidian sanctum does not qualify).

You’re right, EOTM is technically the format that is most similar to GW1 GVG. You have a short duration match with non-deathmatch objectives. Yes, the matches are 4 hours long but some guilds are able to stick it out for at least 1 to 2 hours.

However the map was designed more to accommodate zergs and pugs, not gvgs.

I would have no problem if they made the upgrade cheaper to build but it would also have to be more in line with the +5% kill xp boost which only requires economy III and 500 influence. If disciplined maneuvers was also 500 influence and required art of war III (or IV) then sure I’d build it all the time.

I’m not sure the OP is being serious but it is kind of cheesy to have an entire guild use the taxi method to dominate an EOTM overflow. Fighting against pugs I guess easy loot bags and much frustration. But it’s also interesting to see GvG on EOTM maps although certain colors seem to have more advantageous structures/positions.

No, they have decided that they don’t want older and more established (or rich guilds) to have too much of a boost on WXP so the current cost is reasonable. And I think it’s a much better temporary buff than the old armor repair fee reduction upgrade.

I thought is was common knowledge that any more-or-less serious young WvWer should get vita stacks-> power stacks before even looking at the other rank rewards

And if you’re serious about WvW you’ll get them both and all the others. The order is a matter of preference. OK sure, vitality stacks will help you survive a bit better but it only comes after 115 ranks. If you could wait 115 ranks to get the vit stacks then you can also wait 230 and get the power/cond dmg stacks first to deal more dmg. ok just get them both. they’re both great.

Recommended Wxp upgrades for new WvW players

Based on personal experience, how would you recommend allocating your Wxp upgrades as you increase your WvW rank?

Here are my thoughts on the first upgrades you should focus on

1) Guard Killer 10
2) Defense Against Guards 10
3) Build Mastery 1
4) Supply Master 4
5) Repair Mastery 1
6) Flame Ram Mastery 3
7) Siege Might 5
8) Catapult Mastery 5
9) Siege Bunker 5

You could swap these first 9 around a bit. I personally didn’t get max Guard Killer and Defense Against guards until much later but now I think it’s a great way for a newer player to start off in WvW though 115 points in each is quite an investment Applied Strength and Applied Fortitude are very nice buffs.

Depending on how much you like to rely on fellow players to carry enough supply or carry more yourself, increase
Supply Capacity (up to level 5)

Depending on which siege equipment you like to specialize in, get some or all of the following
Cannon Mastery 4
Ballista Mastery 5
Arrow Cart Mastery 5
Burning Oil Mastery 5
Trebuchet Mastery 3
Mortar Mastery 5

This always comes dead last

ya whatever, they designed it so that the player that activated the golem bp could NOT regain control of the golem. and i’m sure they’re happy some players are willing to pay for extra accounts to “spy” on enemy servers. it helps their bottom line, so I don’t see them taking any practical measures to counteract this besides patching well known exploits every other year.

So the original poster complained about a group of people constantly defending lyssa. I think another way to work around that is to gather more people onto Malchors Leap to open up another megaserver instance then hop instances.

So you have to beat the megaserver system first before you can beat lyssa?
Seems kinda odd to me. We can now see the problems we ever had with the event rewards (Beside them beinge abysmal low). Offensive events are giving way more reward than defensive events. One might think those events are giving less reward on purpose, hence they fail. Now, with that much players on the map, even those unrewarding events do not fail, thus you wont get to the rewarding events.

No, it’s just a temporary workaround to the OP’s complaint about perceived “griefers” until someone fixes the main problem with lyssa or the dreadful new trait unlocking system …

Calls community toxic. Yet is toxic themselves. Trying to force others to play your way to suit your own needs.

Please. I’m not toxic because I will selectively refuse to rez dead people or assist in defense events. Often times stopping to rez dead people is a big risk and you might end up dead yourself if u attempt it so it’s best to ignore certain dead bodies and move on to the next objective.

Failing defense events on purpose is nothing new. Just take a look at Edge of the Mists. And surprise surprise defense events rewards stink compared to offense event rewards in WvW just as in PvE (Lyssa, Grenth, Gates of Arah, etc). There are only a few defense events that are equally as rewarding as offense events that I can think of and all of them are guild challenges (Scratch Sentry Defense, Southsun Crab Toss , Save Our Supplies, and Deep Trouble).

So there is plenty they could do to make the lyssa temple more rewarding or interesting. They could increase the defense rewards and/or add a countdown timer like the temple of grenth defense event and also adjust the difficulty of the event. I’m not suggesting that anyone should have to buy the traits because I killed that risen priestess of lyssa a lot to get all my traits.

Why not base the god forsaken things around the events that ACTUALLY ROTATE? Tample based traits are kittening stupid.

Well Karka Queen rotates and that trait’s probably the worst one to get for people that have several alts like myself. 2nd worst for me was lyssa then grenth and gates of arah. Treasure chest was easiest of course.

EDIT: on 2nd thought I didn’t start doing Karka Queen as early as I should have so it’s probably not as hard as lyssa or grenth overall. it only spawns 3 times a day though but lyssa, grenth, and gates of arah could be done more than 3 times a day (before the megaserver hit Cursed Shore).
