I really think you and your guild should avoid transferring until after the new matchups on Friday. The new ratings system has the potential to shakeup many of the tiers so I don’t know if you can find a “stable” server at the moment.
Currently, T1 and T2 servers are probably the most stable. But 4 out of 6 of them are Full. I guess SoR and FA are still open but unless you really want to get away from certain people in Kaineng, I advise hanging out for at least another week.
List of confirmed stealth changes in Tuesday’s (05/28/2013) patch
Dredge fractal:
-Can no longer walk along the edge of the cage to bypass the first two pressure plates
-Can no longer blink through a certain spot in the cage to the inner pressure plates and control panel
Comment: I hate this change. This is already one of the longer fractals and now we must do things the longer and more boring way. How about putting more bombs in the bomb path first or fixing the respawn timer so we don’t have to wait forever to blow up the door.
Aquatic fractal:
-Changed the icons you see when you transform into dolphins.
Comment: Another pointless change. And why aren’t we allowed to set skill #1 to auto-attack?
Snowblind fractal:
-Changed the mountainside between the Elemental Source and the Son of Svanir Shaman.
Comment: Another pointless change. It’s slightly harder to traverse now.
Unconfirmed but rumored changes:
Volcanic Fractal:
-champion grawl shaman AI.

Doessent matter what the practicalities are. He said anet wouldent do it. Anet called him out personally to say they would.
He was right.
Where did Devon make any such statement? They told us from the beginning that the ascended gear would be a combination of laurels and badges. They never said that it would cost only badges.
Still no way to get ascended backs outside of fractals. <- At the VERY least this needs to be fixed.
Wrong. You can get the Sclerite Karka Shell (ascended) without doing a single fractal.
It’s a fair discount of ~10 days of waiting.
I got 10 badges, 2 ballistas, 2 rares and 20 silver with my first 2 chests. It’s looking good.
Arenanet I would like to have my laurels refunded back to me. I wasted 30 laurels on that ascended neck piece in pve. HAD I had a choice back then, I would not of bought from the PVE laurel merchant. I feel cheated out of 10 laurels. fix this.
No you’re not getting a refund. Good update ArenaNet. They promised discounted ascended gear in WvW and they delivered. 250 badges is super easy to get compared to 10 laurels.
You should just play warrior. They’re very strong in dungeons.
I think instance openers should still have benefits. They should be immune to kicks unless they are dced or akitten for 10+ min (or some reasonable amount of time). If they leave the party on their own then the instance ownership should be transferred to a random party member.
Also, a random roll can be blatantly unfair. You do not need to guess to know what will happen when the 8th server plays against the 1st server. Really, you know in advance what will happen and that the 8th server will be p0wned, making alot of players want to quit WvW. Pitting the 1st server against the 8th is NOT a good idea.
Oh please, ArenaNet wasn’t referring to pitting a 1st place server vs an 8th place server. They were referring to a few months back when Kaineng was 4th place and JQ was 1st place but they never had a chance to fight because SoR and BG already took the other 2 spots in tier 1.
If this new system had existed then, JQ and Kaineng could have had the opportunity to fight each other and it would’ve been interesting.
Right now many of the tiers are way too stagnant. This is a good change. Also, the map completionists might finally stop complaining.
How many monitors does eyefinity support?
The new system is great. It will force each and every server to fight harder in my opinion.
Right now, the situation is you have one server dominating each tier. And it usually stays that way unless you have population shifts/server transfers.
With the random factor, all servers will have to fight hard to keep or increase their rating points and/or to win matches (by a significant margin).
What I’m unsure about is WHEN will the random numbers be generated and will they be published sometime before a match so that we can know which opponents to expect on reset night or to even know which color we’ll be starting off as.
I think it’ll be fun either way if we’re given the info or not. There could be a very nice element of surprise to not know exactly where you’ll start off or who you’re facing.
Then again, if we get the random roll results let’s say 24 hours before the reset, we’ll have plenty of time to prepare to fight this server or that server.
I guess with the random rolls, we don’t have advanced notice any more of which servers we’ll fight on reset nights.
I love this new matchup system. Thanks ArenaNet. Whiners will always whine.
no, leave it as is. I personally enjoy stale matchups against the same servers that drag on for weeks on end
So does ArenaNet apparently.
This is a bad change. WvWers should have access to trading posts too. What a horrible change. The home borderlands trading post gets bugged half the time too.
The price is very fair. It’s good that it costs badges of honor. Less pay to win please.
Guardian is fine. Or warrior or Mesmer.
Is the Fractal daily bonus chest per account or per character?
It’s per account right?
This sounds interesting. So the jumping puzzle will be split off to its own map. Does this mean it would be possible for the jumping puzzle map to have its own queue?
Like, “too many players in the jumping puzzle” so you can’t get into the jumping puzzle map itself.
Would this even be likely to happen (do you think 100+ players are going to wait around in the jumping puzzle to gank people)? Maybe on reset nights.
Devon, do you know if this new JP map will have its own queue?
These new changes sound neat. Now if only ArenaNet could do something about those orbs of power and their guards. They should serve some purpose on the map.
Look, if you want open field fights, it sounds like the new JP map will be the place to do so. I wonder if “controlling” the JP map will award any points per tick.
I don’t think the changes for WvW are being applied for the next update. As one of the devs said;
Hey folks,
It seems we inadvertently outed (some of) our plans for WvW with the above linked page. While we are looking to extend World XP changes for WvW in a later content patch, it still needs some tweaking and therefore isn’t ready to be introduced in this one.We can however officially let you know we are moving the jumping puzzle for EB into it’s own map, as this has been a much requested feature for our beloved siege fairing community.
Apologies for the hicup
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Traps-Get-More-Out-of-WvW/first#post1979174
Well, this sounds fun. It seems like the WvW Jumping Puzzle will have its own map. Perfect. It’s going to be the new dueling arena/fight club.
That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.
I take it this means you will be removing Jumping Puzzles from WvW aswell… you know, people jumping around not doing WvW… Just to “earn” badges without actually having to fight or contribute. Taking up slots.
Now that would have a far greater impact of removing deadweigth players from WvW than removing crafting stations, while being a far smaller bother to your actual WvW community.
I wonder if we can even do that… :P The EB JP is coming out for the May 14th release.
Great. WvW just got more boring fun.

What should I buy with my guild commendations? So far I’m thinking ascended accessories and I’m looking at the following 4 to maximize my dps/stats.
Magister’s Field Journal
Althea’s Ashes
Ancient Mursaat Token
Celestial Sigil
Are there any others I should consider? Offensive or defensive infusion slot first?
Maybe this is a simple choice for many players so I don’t know if I’m overthinking it. Don’t want to waste my commendations though and make a poor choice.
I think warrior is actually the most complex class. They have access to the most weapon sets overall. Even though most warriors use greatsword for obvious reasons.
Elementalist and engineer are ok but are not as fun to play compared to warrior imo.
I was looking at this topic https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Best-race-for-Elementalist/first#post1974486
and someone said that Norns are the worst choice because they have an “evade delay”.
Is this true? Norns evade slower than other races?
Thanks for asking, I had the same problem today.
Why don’t they just make two versions of the Explorable mode?
A level 80 heroic version locked to level 80’s and a 35 version that is easier and didn’t make those changes that you all are talking about.
It seems like a reasonable solution and something that every other MMO does.
No thanks. I know GW1 had normal mode and hard mode. But I would prefer everything just remain normal. I don’t want reduced rewards in normal mode or additional rewards in hard mode.
Fractals is bad enough.
I finished Romke’s Final Voyage by myself on my Mesmer with exotics. I don’t remember it being that hard.
Despite being a necessary change to make dungeons more interesting and to let ually retry a boss without players know of the game mechanics, the end of the death train also meant the end of completely disorganized dungeon groups that could still complete a dungeon.
No it wasn’t a “necessary change”. It was a change that ArenaNet decided to implement against the wishes of many players. I’m sure the vast majority of players would love to be able to use waypoints whenever possible instead of waiting for so and so to rez them or die.
Of course players have adapted to that horrible change and ArenaNet can balance the game however they want to squeeze out more profits, make the game more or less challenging etc. Many people did not like the change.
If you die, you’re forced to sit around and wait for others to do something (or you can go shopping at the trading post). The change really made the game less exciting.
The difficulty of Ascalonian Catacombs should probably be lowered. Level 35 players should be to complete the dungeon just as easily as level 80 players do.
I agree that a level 35 dungeon should not require a full party of level 80 players.
The problem here is there are too many elitists that think otherwise. If you do want to complete the dungeon at level. I suggest you join a guild that runs dungeons often and doesn’t mind having lowbies join them.
The game is full of level 80s, no one likes to stay at level 35. Alts and new characters should be leveled quickly yes but that doesn’t mean you should have to wait until level 80 to enjoy dungeon experiences.
Well you could report these people for abusive kicks and scamming. They’re not supposed to kick you at the end just so that they could get an 80 (unless they told you this at the START of the dungeon).
You got duped and they should be punished.
Warriors will never ever be nerfed. (Just look at Guild Wars 1 Warriors were never nerfed) They are the most popular profession by far and no one likes to make customers angry.
So basically, ArenaNet needed the test results from this new arrow cart change to prepare for future changes. Fine with me.
It’s all about the gems people, they want you to buy gems, leave this stupid game while you can. ESO, ESO…
Is ESO subscription based?
All game update notes are now screened by public relations specialists so as to not cause alarm and panic.
I think you should pick warrior. Their rifle is very good ranged. And they are best at greatsword.
Man you don’t need to pay anyone. There are people posting for guild bounties and rushes on gw2lfg.com.
But I’ll invite you to my guild. We do bounties on Saturdays usually.
You can do your first dungeon anytime. Try the new molten facility or do fractals.
The difference between story and explorer mode is 5 levels.
The dungeon is still too long. There are too many trash mobs and too many prisoners to rescue. The rewards are insufficient for the majority of players.
It’s very boring agreed. There hasn’t been any real content added to WvW since siegerazer.
Jade Quarry is the PVE server.
Your options are warrior or guardian or elementalist for tanking.
Um elementalist wasn’t hit that hard. I still play mine the same way. But yes, warrior is virtually nerf-proof.
Definitely Mesmer.
The final boss fight is just like CoF p3…
It was too long and the rewards were underwhelming for me.
I did get a jetpack on my second run though.
Because no one wants to waste 30 min+ of their life because some guy left the party halfway and booted everyone out.
