Seperate reset times for NA and EU

This is what happens when ArenaNet cherry picks which parts of the community to listen to.

Some of the European players complained a lot a few weeks ago and most of the North Americans ignored the complaints because they thought ArenaNet wouldn’t make the change. ArenaNet’s initial response suggested that they were NOT going to change the reset time.

Now ArenaNet is changing their mind all over again. But I’m guessing underneath all this is a BUSINESS decision and not a decision made directly to appease the Euro community.

Honestly, this is one of the worst changes ever. People are already used to the current reset time and you’re basically messing up a lot of schedules that people have already grown used to.

Sure whatever. I don’t care. I can live with any reset time. But of course now many people are angry. (What do you expect.)

When ArenaNet announced the ratings reset, people got angry and they cancelled the reset. Keep complaining and maybe they’ll back off this idea too.

But my guess is they are trying to capture more of the European gem buying market with this change. An earlier reset time might cause a lot more Euro guilds to buy gems and convert them to gold for WvW purchases.

I think it’s ridiculous WvW players are forced to do PVE to acquire a level 80 Breathing apparatus.

We should be able to purchase a level 80 breathing apparatus with badges of honor/karma/gold whatever INSIDE world vs world.

Also, there should be underwater equivalents of supply camps, towers, keeps and castles.

I don’t know how they can do capture circles underwater but maybe make it a sphere or something.

I would like to see more zerg vs zerg combat UNDERWATER.

Yes there is big sea in the center on borderland maps and the bay keep but zergs mostly don’t stay in the water. They are either swimming towards the water gate of garrison or swimming to get to supply camps. Some players help build quaggan nodes yes and stop by krait island but we need more underwater action!

Also

Dreaming bay water gates CANNOT be damaged while Eternal Battlegrounds green keep water gates CAN be damaged and broken through. Why the inconsistency? We should be able to pummel those bay gates down too!

I’m getting about 0.75 ectos for every rare salvaged at the moment using Master Salvage Kits. It’s a bit less than the 0.9 that’s been reported here but o well, I’ll keep salvaging and hopefully the number will go up.

yes it is a good idea to revamp this…ya the gold farmers will make a million excuses why they should leave it alone but really dungeons are supposed to be hard and somewhat challenging right? If you don’t wanna revamp it could you change the name to Gold Farming Zone so everyone will know that’s what its there for…

Wrong. Dungeons are only supposed to be hard for first-timers. CoF paths 1 and 2 are still quite difficult for first-timers and non-level 80s.

They are supposed to be boring bla bla bla easy brisk for veterans and experienced players.

What language do you recommend?

Simple solution. Put a cap on the number of non-NA players allowed on any one NA server based on a +/- percentage of the total number of non-NA players on NA servers with the objective of fairly balancing the the population of non-NA players across all the NA servers to make game play more competitive 7/24.

Wow, not this again. At least the post above yours shows that during non NA peak hours, if people were willing to log in to help the non NA group, they could make an impact on the score during those time zones, especially on a Sunday.

I just don’t agree with kicking non NA players off of NA servers. Not really trying to start anything, but seriously, when you make these types of posts, have you thought of what happens to the non NA players on YOUR server? You’re basically advocating to have them kicked off. Don’t you think they feel unwelcome with their servermates wanting them off of the server?

Edit:
I have friends from europe and australia that I have met from other games playing this game with me. If GW2 restricts my non NA friends from playing with me on an NA server, then pretty much, I’m leaving the game.

Don’t worry. ArenaNet doesn’t seem to take suggestions like this seriously. They do not entertain threads complaining about nightcapping.

I don’t get why ArenaNet always takes years to make a LFG tool. They had the same delay in Guild Wars 1. Intially there was no such tool there either and when it finally came out not many people used it.

Yeh only time it ever came in handy was when everyone flocked to do DWG/Glaiveway or sinway DOA. Things like Deep and Urgoz, you’d either heroway or rely on the guild chat and friends list. I feel like the lack of the system and/or people using it impacts on what people wanna do.

Back in GW1 I’d wanna do a deep run and none of my friends were on, it was impossible to pug, so I’d just go to DOA instead.

Luckily we have Gw2lfg.com for now, but an ingame system really needs to get added soon!

gw2lfg works very well yes.

I’ll bet the reason why it’s taking so long to make an in-game system is because they don’t want to create a system that can be used for gold spam/selling. it just creates more work for them to remove abusive/spammy lfg postings

gw2lfg has those “report as inappropriate” flags and such but they should simply eliminate or limit the comment section to 50 characters or less. It’s just enough to write “lfg cof path 1 berserker warriors and Mesmer only”

Whilst your comment is true, I feel that the majority have been ignored in favour of the minority when we are paying other guilds to join our server in an effort to reach Tier 1.

Apparently some on TC have felt it necessary to start paying guilds to transfer here. I believe this is a bad idea. In fact, for the first time I am ashamed to be on TC if we are now paying people to come here. We have a great community here and most of us just liked playing WvW for fun. We didnt care if we might never reach tier 1. Do we really need these mercenary guilds that transfer to any server that will pay their fees? No doubt they will transfer off in a few weeks if we don’t win enough. Please reconsider this tactic TC.

I was just in EB arguing about this and there seem to be enough people who messaged me they also feel this is the wrong action on the part of TC.

As I understand it there are some CD guilds contemplating transferring to TC. Well I don’t welcome them. Yes, in the past we have been all about having fun and as roleplayers there is generally a sillier vibe here, but I feel these type of paid transfers will ruin the community.

Please TC rethink this idea.

You haven’t figured out reset nights have become boring in T1? Everyone trying to upgrade everything the fastest. I have stopped playing reset nights, cause its like everyone does a stand off for an hour or 2. But ya, your right JQ def, has the Best NA team. Who is SoR trying to fool with 300-400 ppt during the week, sheesh. Weekends FTW!

Reset nights are boring? Well not boring enough for there not to be queues.

Don’t worry about “bringing down my team” and just level up.

Leveling up in WvW is fine. Of course, crafting is much faster though.

Scholar runes are still better than ruby orbs and will probably always be.
@Waraxx: It’s not only a CoF thing. Everywhere in PvE berserker gear works best by far. Using pvt or clerics or knights (well, an anchor should throw in some knight pieces) are just suboptimal – they suck.
A 5 berserker group is going to do every dungeon in this game faster and easier than a group of random armor sets.

How are scholar runes better? There’s no precision increase and the critical dmg increase is less.

Is it because of this “(6): +10% Damage damage while health is above 90%.” ?

yes and the 45 more power. Many over rate crit damage and undervalue power. I also read that 5 mesmer 1 ruby orb was better then all ruby because of the increased stats being slightly better then the crit damage.

Quite a bit of variety here.

Sometimes, you have to let go of the people you are attached to and hope the best for them. Even if they make a mistake or succeed, let them learn and experience it.

We all play for our own reasons. ^.^

I’m oceanic which means that now that [Awe] is gone, there’s pretty much no point in logging on to WvW anymore.

O it’s not that big of deal. I remember there were times when Awe was quite small.

Yes, there are plenty of regular CoF groups. I do them all the time because I have an 80 of each profession. There does seem to be some classes better suited for both paths 1 and 2 though.

With Warriors, Mesmers, Guardians, and Elementalists, the runs are done faster.

Here is what happened. We were following a commander in WvW map. S/He decided it would be a “good” plan to camp our squad of 20 people in front of an enemies home spawning base. The squad was there to kill of enemies one by one.

I was on the attackers side but I feel the enemies were very frustasted by this tactic. For the record I left the squad after a minute once I realised what was going on. The commander and his squad did it for another 5-10 mins.

I see no possible benefit in this “tactic” since you get minimal wEXP for killing people that just spawned so I think it’s just a very desturbing tactic for the enemies to face. I know it’s a WvW format but still only annyoing other people should not be encouraged.

Could/Should I report this commander?

No, ArenaNet should be banning you if you dare to file false reports like this.

No it’s not going to be account bound unless ArenaNet plans on issuing gold refunds to multiple players that bought multiple commander books for multiple characters.

That wouldn’t make sense because whoever got to the top of T8 would be stuck in the hole just like SF.

Adding 600 points doesn’t work in the long run either. The 2 losing servers will still get their points drained and when the winning server moves up again they take all those points with them. The loser from T7 will bring less points to T8. And then ArenaNet will have to add 600 more points again some other day.

Downed state will always be there. It’s a part of the game. The only thing that can change is downed skills and downed health.

Guild Rush only reward 15 players?

Yesterday, my guild and I tried out the guild rush but didn’t complete 15 so next time I’m thinking of asking for more help.

But does the guild rush only award commendations/personal rewards for 15 players or does everyone that can finish in the 30 min window get the reward?

Also, I had one guy join in from another guild that finished the rush but didn’t get a reward/commendation. He said he was repping my guild while he was doing the guild rush. Is this a bug?

Shouldn’t wxp be accumulated as a result of normal play and NOT forced or manipulated by Pve’ing your way to a title? The wxp ranks could be reduced easily to compensate for the loss of event wxp.

You should not be able to PvE your way to a WvW rank. That is what is happening currently.

Supply camps, towers, keeps, and castles are all “PVE” structures if no one is defending them. This is the same gameplay we’ve had in the past with an additional WXP reward on top of the karma, gold, and normal XP we used to have. I don’t see a problem here.

Defense awards WXP as well as gold, karma, and XP. It’s all the same as before. Everyone knows before WXP came out that running around on a karma train was easier XP than defending a keep unless you were repairing an SMC wall that was slowly being trebbed.

Remove WXP from events.

I talked to our server guys and we just don’t have the ability to reset these at different times. As much as that is an unsatisfying answer for you in the EU, it is reality.

Good answer Devon. There shouldn’t be separate reset timers anyway much less separate NA and EU servers.

The only good reason why there are separate NA and EU servers is for latency issues. We don’t need to separate any other things and create more unnecessary work.

Having separate NA and EU servers is already a problem when grouping for dungeons. Ideally, we should have simple global servers if the latency issues could be eliminated.

No need to cater to the special interests of these EU guilds that don’t bother staying up for reset. There are plenty of EU server guilds that DO participate at reset and they should not have their times switched because of a few lazy guilds.

The current reset time is fine. Thank you.

Huh, did not know that.
I thought this would be about the unbelievably worthless Burning Oil above that gate that can barely even reach the ground with its attack and can’t hit anywhere near the gate. I mean Oil is pretty bad anyway, only really good for stalling because they need to nuke it down before they can ram or golem the gate, but that one is even more worthless since it can’t even do that.

Yes, this is one of the worst oils to use because enemies can hit you from almost all sides and the oil doesn’t pour out in front of the gate like all the other oils do.

The badges from puzzles after the last patch are negligible. I don’t have much else of a response to this that won’t get me reported.

Actually Blizzard made the zerg, and ArenaNet was founded by former Blizzard employees.

So yes, ArenaNet did make the zerg in a sense and anticipated that players would be zerging.

It’s interesting that these days a few percentage points are considered trivial and/or inconsequential… when for the last few months, we couldn’t go a day without a new thread whining about how players with ascended gear would be totally OP compared to the poor exotic-only folks.

So to recap:
when talking about ascended gear, 4-5% extra damage => game breaking.
when talking about WvW rank abilities, 4-5% extra damage => useless.

Do you even play World vs World? One of the reasons why players complained about ascended gear was because we could not obtain them in WvW but instead had to farm fractals.

What server would be good for a trio?

It seems that the only guilds that accept bribes are in the +7 to +12 region. I rarely hear of NA guilds taking bribes but they may be offering or funding them.

Since now we have a new lead on WvW development team, I’d like to start a thread where we can list the most important things we believe that should be done to WvW. Please keep it short to maximally 3 to 4 items.

I will start with mine, start from the most important:

1. Tweak mechanisms to change the current meta of one whole map zerg ball; increase WXP for defense and other non-kill/capture activities.

2. Add new content to WvW (new map, new skills from WvW rank).

3. Reduce skill lag in large encounters.

2) Yes.

3) Yes.

There should also be gear improvements in WvW. We should be able to acquire Ascended gear in WvW. There needs to be Aquatic Headgear designed for WvW. Also, superior runes, sigils, and other upgrades should be available in WvW.

The WvW update was disappointing yes and did not meet many people’s high expectations.

Yes, the rank system was a good improvement and yes people are happy to have culling removed.

But there are some key things that were left out that would have made the update more satisfying.

1) Addition of Ascended gear to WvW
2) New maps or new structures/events/objectives in existing maps

Again, this is already settled. AN has said before they do not want a single tap to contest a waypoint. They are working on a way to fix it.

This is as it should be. Allowing way points to be contested is fine and probably necessary, but it’s way too easy for some classes/builds to do so.

No it’s not settled because ArenaNet hasn’t changed anything.

Months ago they were talking about preventing people from using the waypoint when the defense event ended by extending the contested symbol’s duration a few seconds past the end of the event.

They didn’t make that change. Also, they haven’t made any changes to prevent 1 man from contesting a waypoint.

The March patch was supposed to be the WvW patch and they must have already debated this waypoint issue internally.

Since they didn’t make any changes, that’s means the status quo is in effect. So quit complaining about something that’s probably not going to change anytime in the near future.

1 man is enough to take or do serious damage to a keep if no one is watching so yes they should be able to contest the waypoint. End of discussion. No changes necessary.

Nothing much to see here. Some people are too lazy to check when the defense event ends and use the waypoint then.

Being on a lower tier server is no excuse. Everyone has access to the map to check when the waypoint is available. If you’re too lazy to look at the map then just get out of WvW and go back to PvE.

Also having waypoints contested is not the end of the world, move your lazy feet and get to the location without using the waypoint.

No. Waypoints are there to be used and to be contested. Even if it’s contested, you can still get in at the end of the defense event.

Yes, it’s Monday morning in NA and all the servers are listed as Very High. Maybe the end of March sale brought in some new customers.

Plenty of Euro servers still listed as Medium so get your free transfers there while you can.
