Yeah, those bleeder builds are a lot of fun when you catch people off guard. I consider it like a thief catching someone off guard because it has so much burst. I’m running Rampager’s armor with perplexity runes. Celestial trinkets and Celestial weapons along with +40% condition and condi oil food.

Lol, the forums are freaking out on me right now…not sure if anyone can see this post. If a mod see’s this can you delete my duplicate post?

Here is my Bleeding Hearts Build in action. The first half was against two servers I don’t remember. Then I took a break for the FS champ trains. Did that for days……The second half is against our current matchup: IoJ and BP. There are some great players on those two servers. Was a lot of fun making this video.

Unique Mechanic?

Elementalist: Ability to change Attunements.
Engineer: Wide array of kits and additional abilities dependent on equipped slots skills.
Necromancer: Death Shroud and Spectral Walk
Guardian: Virtues.
Thief: Steal/Initiative and most access to stealth.
Warrior: Adrenaline/Burst
Mesmer: Clones and Shatter abilities.
Ranger: Pets…

This is what makes the classes Unique.

But the funny thing is, every class can have a pet…..via racial skills but at the same time, they won’t suffer a damage loss for having a companion..go figure. They are on par with the rangers pets, especially if the rangers pet dies and is on a 1 min cooldown which is close to most racial elites….

This should probably be moved to a different sub-forum.

In any case, those sigils are two of the ones that are never used, especially since they’re duplicates. The development team has stated previously that they aim to make some “useless” sigils useful, so it’s like that at least one of the two of these would get changed. The invulnerability proc is simply not reliable, and ironically occurs after you kill the person you were fighting, possibly making the invulnerability completely useless.

Oops, I didn’t realize I was posting this in the bugs section. I apologize.

Yeah, I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what these two Sigils could be useful for. They are 2.2 silver each right now. I imagine there prices will skyrocket if they are in fact changed.

Recipe to upgrade Celestial to Ascended

I believe Anet should introduce a Recipe to allow the promotion of Celestial pieces(weapons and armor) to Ascended pieces. Since each piece takes 5 days to make. All those people that made a full set of armor(which takes 35 days) will have done it for nothing.

Now, I understand that you can crit while mining the home instance node, but it doesn’t happen very often.

You can get 2600 toughness, 38% crit chance(base) 65% crit damage(base), with 2700 power, and an added bonus, 1200 condition damage and 20K HP if you build your ranger right.

Can you share that build?
Because it looks great imo.

Sure, I’m going to be posting a video of it in action soon as well. The numbers are actually a bit better than what I said. It’s 43% crit instead of 38%, 2800 toughness instead of 2600 and 2800 power instead of 2700.

Swap third utility accordingly. Sig of Stone for Thieves, Warriors, Ele’s and Guardian’s. Sig of Renewal for Necro’s, Engi’s and some Mesmers and condi Rangers. Sig of the Hunt for the rest.

Any WvW build should strive for as much toughness as they can get. 2800-3000 is a good place for a Ranger. You can still get 50% crit chance and 75% crit damage with 2200ish power with that.

You can get 2600 toughness, 38% crit chance(base) 65% crit damage(base), with 2700 power, and an added bonus, 1200 condition damage and 20K HP if you build your ranger right.

As for HS, It’s a buff on the Condi removal side, but a nerf on the finisher side. I can think back of the countless situations where I could use just a few more seconds of HS to get that last finisher off for a little heal, but bam, it disappears and the tides of fate turn for the worst Now its going to be 5 seconds shorter….we are all doomed!

Here’s how I see it:

Method 1 ~ Possibly Direction Anet is taking on stealth
A utility that applies ‘revealed’ to an enemy before they stealth:
Anet is introducing a method to allow Rangers(so far) the ability to apply ‘Revealed’. This makes it so thieves don’t have to sneak up on an enemy. All they have to do is stealth themselves, then the enemy is open to their burst. Other players are always on edge, especially if they see a thief go stealth right before an interaction/fight. This allows the thief to simply play in ‘easy mode’ per say.

Method 2 ~ My proposed Direction of stealth
A Passive Detection type of Trait:
This would immediately require a thief to check the buff bar of its opponent(if hes deciding to gank a player) right before engaging. If the selected player has the detection type of skill active(shown by a boon of some sort), then the thief now has to position himself/herself in such a way as to surprise the enemy. Which is what a traditional thief is supposed to do. Plus it makes it so a Ranger can do what a ‘Ranger/Scout’ is supposed to do, scout there surroundings…

It all comes down to how Anet want to implement a counter to stealth. I prefer method two personally.

I can’t help but think that Method 2 would garner cries of “OP!!!” from every direction possible. I play primarily in WvW and can only imagine the QQ when I detect the other zerg right after they run through their veils, or an opposing havoc squad having been mass invis or shadow refuged. But the way you describe Method 2 makes me think that is EXACTLY how both thieves and rangers SHOULD be played.

I could see the cries too. But then the meta would shift and stealthed players would have to be sneaky… crazy concept. :0

I have played a countless number of games that have the traditional invisi style thief and their ability to gank other players. Which is how it should be. They are a thief that can vanish and backstab. It’s their nature, its their being. It’s what thief does.

They need to introduce a trait that makes thieves targetable within a certain range of either the pet or ranger. Targetable by the Ranger and pet, but does not reveal them. You could even further the traitline so that those in your party can receive the ability as well.

Google video ‘Knight Online lupin eyes example’ <—— That is how stealth should be dealt with. Also take note: this ability is only available to Rangers….so that makes them a necessity to a roaming party. You can also Google video ‘Runes of Magic Scout Detection example’

Thief comes out of stealth, I am using beastmaster build and press “sic em”. I now cripple the thief with shortbow or try to stun and attempt to cast muddy terrain on thief. Cast is successful. Thief eats massive bird burst from sic em and traits. Thief is dead. And I can use muddy terrain / sic em combo really on any profession. Someone will post a video along these lines and everyone will stop worrying about “how much it will suxors”.

What else can you think of?

You’re scenario will work. But its only good for a 1vs1 type of scenario against a thief. This is no different than the HS argument. Some people mentioned that HS isn’t just used for bunkering situations. It can be used it team play situations. Well, in this case, the new Sic Em changes aren’t enough to warrant a space on my utility slot.

At first I was going to add this bit of info, but since its only PvE content, I didn’t think it mattered since I already have no issues with pet management as of now. Also, the health increase isn’t just Rangers pets, its across the board except for a select few-mesmer clones, I think.

The proposed Patch Notes for Ranger’s divided into three category’s:

Changes

  • Soften the Fall: Maximum targets increased from 3 to 5.
  • Maul: Damage for this skill has been increased by 15%. Vulnerability has been increased from 3 to 5 stacks and the duration increased from 6 to 8 seconds.
  • Muddy Terrain: The maximum number of targets for this skill has been increased to 5, from 3.
  • “Sic ’Em”: This shout now applies 4 seconds of “Revealed” on the targeted enemy.
  • Healing Spring: Reduces the field duration to 10 seconds. It now pulses every 2 seconds instead of 3 so it will still provide the same amount of regeneration and condition removal, just in a more condense time frame.

Bug Fixes(Some can be considered nerfs)

  • Nature’s Voice: This trait no longer carries the effects of Evasive Purity as well as the on-shout swiftness and regeneration.
  • Companion’s Defense: Protection now occurs at the end of the ranger’s dodge-roll, instead of the beginning.
  • Spike Trap: This skill’s tooltip now appropriately displays when Trapper’s Expertise is equipped. Updated the skill tooltips to include the immobilize condition that occurs.
  • Rending Pounce (Jaguar): This skills tooltip now displays the correct amount of bleeding applied.
  • Protect Me: This skill no longer prevents capture point progress.
  • Vigorous Renewal: This trait now grants vigor to the ranger and nearby allies when the healing spring skill is cast and not every pulse.

As for Healing Spring, I understand your reasoning on why you think its a buff, but I can guarantee you, it is in fact a nerf.

I have to ask this because it’s going to be a 3-4s reveal on thieves. Is slotting it worth it for them?

Out of all the various activities, game modes, PvE content and WvW content, there is only 1 scenario in which you would slot Sic Em:

tPvP – And that’s if there’s a Thief/Mesmer on the opposing team.

Legendary Shortbow

Haha, necroooooo’ed. Anyways, I passed on The Dreamer because of the reduction in range to shortbows. Plus it was starting to look more and more ‘fluffy’ to me. Instead I got Frostfang. Same range as shortbow and I like the looks of it. I’m also around 85% done with Kudzu

It seems to me the most obvious design change would be to make it a targeted AoE like Search and Rescue and Guard. Though I don’t know that it would really make as much sense for how Sic em is supposed to function. Of course just giving off a pulse at max range of the power that auto reveals all stealth would be good too, I guess, but that still begs the question, what are you targeting to make that happen?

Haha, if the pet had a AoE style reveal, constantly on, thieves would have to be careful on there backstabs. they would have to be wary of the enemy’s pets position at all times.

Although I think it should be a Trait, rather than taking up a utility slot.

Revealing AoE would be baller: I’d guard a pet in front of a veiling zerg and reveal them. Too bad it’s limited to just 5 targets. What a shame, I guess we need more rangers in wvw >:)

What would be sweet is Sic Em acted like a ‘signet’. It could have a passive and active effect. Passive could be a reveal type AoE, almost like your pet is constantly sniffing for a scent, and then obviously the active would be like it normally is.

I used to play a game called ‘Knight Online’. The Ranger class had a passive skill called ‘Lupin Eyes’, and it worked by simply revealing any stealthed enemy’s within a certain radius as ‘semi transparent’. Anyone who was in the rangers party got the passive buff of a infinite radius. It made it so that you NEEDED a Ranger in your party.

A little clarification of how that skill worked. It never actually revealed – as in removed the stealth buff – it just made it so that the person with the Lupin Eyes skill active could see the stealthed enemy.

Here’s the thing, when I think of the term “Legendary”, I immediately think of these terms: “Like no other”, “Amazing”, “One of a kind”, “Mythological”, and “Unreal”.

Now take those definitions and apply them to the current Legendary weapons. I think the only ones that don’t fall under these descriptions are Rodgort, Quip, Howler and of course Frostfang. The only thing it has going for it is the footfalls…..

This is more of a suggestion, but I would like other users inputs as well.

I would love to see Frostfangs eyes glow with a slight particle effect and possibly move, as if it was looking around. When the weapon is drawn/unsheathed, make it so ice crystals form and melt away off the axe itself, maybe from his teeth and tongue also from the ice that forms on the players arm. Basically constant ice crystlas form and melt away while wielded. Even Ice shards floating around the character would make it so much more Legendary.

Right now it just seems underwhelming and un-Legendary when sheathed compared to other Legendarys. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions?

Edit: I just now noticed that the handle is actually the dragons body, make it move like it is breathing….

Which is better?

I wanted to get some input from the community regarding which Sigil I should run.

So the base build I’m using is a crit bleeder. I’m able to apply 25 stacks of bleed to a single target within seconds. With foods I’m sitting at 2750 Attack and 1000 Condition damage. Which would benefit this build more? An extra 250 Attack or and extra 250 Condition damage?

Just a heads up; if you are about to fail a gauntlet challenge and go to the character selection screen, you will occasionally appear by the Ringmaster. Sometimes you’ll be downed, sometimes you won’t. It can save a little bit of time if your computer loads the map quickly.

Pff…Your suggestion takes more skill than it does beating these boss’s.

Ectos are up from @18s to @24-25s last night. I’m pretty sure that the economist that they pay to do these kinds of things knows what he’s doing.

Ecto’s are up in prices because of demand. Not inflation.

Even if we didn’t have pets, Power would still be subpar on the Ranger like it is most classes who don’t have Stealth or some Obscene Mechanic.

Rangers do have stealth.

What we have is no where near what Stealth Truly is, I have a Thief….I can stay Perma Stealthed all day long, and that’s technically not even that classes mechanic (Steal is)

Stealth is part of thief class mechanic. I’m getting tired of correcting people about this.

Stealth has always been thief’s superior expertise. No other class should even come close.

When I view all the professions, they seem to have at least 2 topic’s devoted to there mechanic’s, including ‘Skill Video’s’. When I click the Ranger, it’s lackluster and the only profession without Skill video’s. Anet!…

They need a trait line where the ranger if standing still long enough will start to blend into their environment. Not stealth, but camouflage. Where if you look closely enough you can see them.

I like that idea. I wouldn’t mind a trait or skill to where you can go into this kinda ‘half way’ mode of stealth. Not 100% stealthed but almost like a 20% transparent kind of state.

Still Deadeye farm?- Bad move Anet

i can’t farm this because i main ranger and it’s my only lvl 80 class with decent gear, but even i don’t care about the people who did/continue to do this. i’ve made a hefty 40+g (plus more to come) by killing the champions from time to time and of course from all of the great crafting things that they drop. just let this "deadeye farm nerf* thing die…

I found a way to farm Dead Eye on my Ranger with 4 Gambits. Takes about 20 seconds or so per run. Its by no means via pure zerker gear either.

Gauntlet farming

I have figured out how to farm him with 4 gambits after the patch. If anyone is interested I’ll post a video and build tonight.

Edit: Right before you enter pop Sun Spirit. Use Horn 5, then Horn 4 while activating Sharpening Stone. Swap weapons to Longbow and use LB #4 right away. Then QZ and LB#2. He should be around 50% health and ticking because of the 25 stacks of bleed on him. Also, I use Sup Runes of Perplexity so he will have 3 or 8 stacks of Confusion on him that last for 10 seconds. Now all you have to do is dodge his one shot and he should be dead by then or very close to being dead. Takes about 13-18 seconds per run.

Edit #2: Obviously I’m using some Celestial items which gives me more toughness and power than the average condi build. But all condi variants should work. If at any point you need to heal, stealth with your LB and use TU.

Here is the build.

I did try with my Zerker set and wasn’t having much luck so I switched to my bleed build and he melts fast.

Couple questions to clarify for people that may be interested:
1) Gambits used?
2) How successful is it, as in success rate?

1) I used 4 Gambits. Don’t remember there names cause I’m at work, but I do know they weren’t the Energy one and the Outnumbered one.

2) It took me 5 – 6 tries before I got the strat down. The hardest part for me was dodge rolling after the burst. My mess ups were dodge rolling into the mines….

My friend who is color blind is probably one of the best players I know but he cannot do this because he can’t see the AoE circles half of the time.

So half the time, eh? I didn’t know being color blind was an off and on thing.
