I just use /say. “Need help?”
If the person is duelling, they don’t respond, if they need help, they find the time to say “yes.”
I spend 90% of my time in WvW doing the thankless jobs. If I need 30 minutes to work on my skills in a duel, let me. Duellers never stake, there’s no point, it’s all about learning and improving.

Blah. A thread asking for more civility is deteriorating into …
Only a WvW player would chase with his zerg a lonely roamer
Naw, only a real WvW player would run right past you, waving as he ran, because 1 vs 50 isn’t a fight.
Eh y’know what? If every time I encountered you, you punched me in the nose, I’d find ways to avoid you — do the minimal necessary.
We are getting a pile of responses from red names about changes to WvW we’ve all long wanted. I think that’s a good thing. I think, as a community, we should encourage this kind of two-way dialogue. They appear to be addressing a good number of issues.
Yes but in typical anet fashion going over the top eg. the server caps appearing to be too low, the guild claiming options being too powerful and too numerous appearing to give defenders far too much of an advantage. What about actual QOL changes like proper raid groups?
#waitandsee2015
I liked the second one, when they had that event in the Plains of Ashford where players faced off against Kralkatorrik’s minions, and whoever died actually became a minion themselves. It was like GW2’s version of the zombie apocalypse…
Oh you mean this weekend? Most of the time I was in WvW, lamenting at how much the game is turning into nagware for this kitten ed expansion.
For folks who forget what lag was really like
The chat window commentary is especially hilarious.
Either that or an idea I posted a while ago, where if you continue “building” on already built regular siege it become superior siege. No more craftable siege, no 10+ slots reserved in inventory for all different kinds, regular and superior… Just plain siege and dumping more supply into it to upgrade it.
But that’s just a dream.
I LOVE that idea.
That is actually a great idea you got there.
It would still have to require a shard for the upgrade though, otherwise it could break the market on TP.
Naw once it’s built, it’s not like you can remove it and sell it.
Only a wvw player is shocked to see red posts on forums about positive changes, and still being a vinegar kittener about it.
+100000
Not sure what the fellow above me is going on about, but this is a very old bug with a very old fix. Used it last night in fact.
You can fix it by clicking on the worker and spamming F.
What time are you playing?
make arrow carts like cannons: they can only be dropped/built in designated areas.
no more openworld arrowcart zerg vs arrow cart zerg bs. no more suppressing defenders from walls with arrowcarts while sieging. No more building a dozen arrow carts when defending a siege.
god forbid, players have to kill players with their own skills.
God no.
I’m still discovering new places for them that are either total crap or OMG this is awesome!
And that’s three years later.
I get the open field thing. It’s stupid. And usually done by weak players. And siege space limits cannot let you place 12 .. perhaps you should do some experimenting, then you’d know there are already limitations in place.
Eh y’know what? If every time I encountered you, you punched me in the nose, I’d find ways to avoid you — do the minimal necessary.

I think Devon just wanted everyone to like him and oversold some of the promises — or was told it’s possible, and then was let down himself. We’ll never know. It did set the bar for expectations/let down, but since we are now seeing some positive movement, can we use the “wait and see” approach rather than the “sky is falling” one? The latter is such a waste of energy.
Certainly if you see issues, flag them. But think about how you’d like to be approached for a change in your job, and phrase it that way.
Some of these are new red names we’re seeing here. Give them a chance first please
xox
P.S. Send back Habib!
You guys are missing a crucial point here. 2500 is within grasp of anyone getting — but you’re not going to get it overnight. It’s not an insta-title. It will take time, especially if you’re starting from zero with a new account/new to game.
I would never have set foot in pvp zones prior to GW2. I got sucked in trying to get my map completion. And now I’m hopelessly addicted. The reason? I had to spend a significant amount of time in map to get what I wanted, and by being there I became curious about the mechanics and the team atmosphere.
Slapping 2500 yaks ensures that those new players will be in map a lot longer than a day or so. And it may just be enough time to make them realize that WvW is actually a lot of fun.

A few points on anti-griefing measures for guild claiming:
- Guilds without Guild Halls will not be able to claim objectives.
- Guilds with the most players at the objective at the time of capture will have first priority.
- Empty guild upgrade slots can be slotted by anyone (who has unlocked the appropriate upgrades), however the owning guild still reserves the right to overwrite a slotted upgrade with a different one.
Thank you! That’s awesome.
Look it all the red name posts!
You all better behave!
*gives you all the hairy eyeball.
“Hardened Siege
Availability: Walled Objectives
Cannons, mortars, and oil pots can only be damaged by siege weapons.”Siege should NEVER be invulnerable to player attacks, especially some of these particular pieces. Cannons can fire so frequently and do so much damage to large areas, it gives too much of an edge to force players to try and build something in time to take it out. Similar issue with mortars. They are already in annoying to reach locations. By making it so the few attacks that can hit them, don’t, is just going to give far too much of a defensive edge.
The operators aren’t invul though….
So what? Group aoes you for a bit, you back off, and then you get back on it. They build siege to take it out, you get on another piece of siege, they have to run over there and build siege to take it out, repeat cycle.
Have to run from spawn though if you die and nobody around … WPs being removed from Hills/Bay and going to south towers/garri. I imagine the emergency WP has a really really long reset timer.
Maybe I missed it, but will the old buffs still be available as well?
Also, if a guild has claimed a holding but has no buffs/upgrades running or has not had buffs running for a period of time, will their claim release? If not, it should. A lot of times guilds claim locations, but don’t keep buffs running, and fail to move their claim to something that’s not important/likely to flip quickly. All the cool new upgrades won’t do any good if nobody from the claiming guild is properly managing their claim(s), which you can rest assured will happen on many servers.
Buffs are no longer on a timer, they remain until the objective is flipped.
However, does not address whether a troll guild can claim, put up zero buffs, and players have no way of fixing, other than letting the structure flip. Also no mention of whether there will be an easy claim/unclaim ability (one would hope so).
Look, I understand what you are trying to do, and I think most of these upgrades sound kind of fun, but I strongly disagree with upgrades such as the Dune Roller. I don’t want open field battles to revolve around players getting insane buffs that will allow them to steamroll other players.
Looks like they only give the banner or transformation to one person on a decent cooldown, so don’t expect to see full zergs of transformed players like in EotM.
PER supply camp.
(oops, sneaky edit)
Ok just read through it all and sounds really interesting — lots of stuff for all types of game play. Some of the stuff, like hardened siege came right from feedback here, I recall the suggestion (just not who, sorry!).
Only thing I’d beg: those nefarious quaggans used to nuke out siege all over the map (not just in garri) when they were active and it was determined to be a bug. Please, if possible, double check that none of these new effects do the same. Nothing more frustrating than watching siege get destroyed by an invisible bug/side-effect.
Otherwise, looking forward to it, sounds like a lot of fun!
Edit: Sorry one key question: How does the claim/unclaim work? Is there a timer that will time out if a guild doesn’t activate anything after a period of time? I’m just wondering how it will work with troll guilds that claim a keep and don’t do anything to it — just let it sit there, preventing anyone else from upgrading, etc. Will there be a way to have a timer/expiry on it if they don’t use/activate anything?

When I read the turtle skills I was actually expecting a turtle transformation like the Centaur, but I guess that may have got a bit to Ninja Turtles in a daredevil hands :P
Skill 5—A giant spirit turtle splashes into the ground with such force that it launches nearby enemies and grants stability and protection to allies.
Great A’Tuin

Hearing in chats that people are tossing guild siege such as cata’s and they are being lost instead of being able to be built. Commander tosses 4 and only 1 shows.
Oh that’s an ancient bug. It’s back?
Add a few supply to each as its thrown, don’t throw a new one unless first one has a start of build at least.
Shhhh … We are still recovering from the last one.
My favourite anti-spy tactic is to befriend them. Be as friendly as possible, helpful as possible, follow them everywhere, wave a lot.
A new player will be grateful for the extra company. A spy? Not so much.
And, in effect, they become stellar scouts — if they’re in a tower and it’s empty, that means incoming shortly. I pay particular attention to the ones that check out each piece of siege and its placement, but don’t refresh it.
(haha, now all spies will manically start refreshing siege to avoid detection, my goodness, win-win).
FSP was very, um, male. Lots of testosterone.
Bit too much for me, lol.

I’ve been on many different servers in NA (6) and EU(4). My experience has been that those threads are pretty representative.
I’d recommend going to www.gw2wvw.net and just reading the forum match threads to get an idea of server, um, personality.
What you see in those threads, trolls aside, is pretty much what you’ll see in map chat.
Still has meaning in EU Sir Kuru
Eh, it’s cheap. Like placing a trebuchet in spawn area.
You can counter it, but it’s silly to have to in a video game.
If they end up on the lowest servers and much isn’t going on, will they become a paying customer?
Do you think they would be more likely to become a customer if they joined a T2 server where they are constantly being spawn camped and ticking for less than 100 ppt?
This idea would let them experience WvW across multiple tiers. They would have a different experience every time they logged in.
I admit I read past multiple worlds figuring they would always end up on the low servers. I guess it depends on how they were spread ensuring they don’t get the same server – maybe even a prompt for high or medium.
Either way, they have to choose a world up front anyway and I don’t see anet spending any time on changing that….
They could just include a free server transfer when they upgrade to a payed account. It would be another incentive to give anet money.
Well except game account is what now? $10?
And 1800 gems to a higher server is about …
Also: paid. (SORRY I CAN’T HELP THE COMPULSIVE EDITING! ><)
98k, but i spend huge amount of badges to air strikes and sentry turrets. Sometimes i buy couple trebs so i can shoot cows inside GvG matches or drop enemies down from overgrowth bridge gate.
Edit: Hmm i did lie. Seems like i have only 97.6k badges.
You need to send me some gold. I’m broke.
Spies can also demoralize the map by negatively commenting on a commander until A: commander gets fed up and logs; B: players start to believe the spy and abandon commander; C: people start to fight back in map chat and cause a big toxic mess that makes people log out.
Quick fix: make AC deal no damage to siege.
Oh honey, think about this
That damage goes both ways — so many rams will celebrate.
Yup I know, but this also means that you can still build cata or treb inside and shoot down the rams from inside, and those won’t be plastered by AC’s. It gives you some small room for counter play.
.
I thought they removed cats doing damage to Rams/gates defensively in 2013? Did they change it back again?

Which to me indicates they tried to fix it, but something has gone wrong with coding so they are working on a fix for it again.
Naw. They were fixing the arrows-through-walls part in the first patch and then addressing the LOS issues and how far it could reach in a subsequent, and pending, patch. Two-part fix.
I think you failed to understand placement. Go experiment. I’ve tested and found the spots.
That’s nice, dear. However I don’t think it is our job to find ways to avoid being subjected to exploits, but Anet’s to plug them.
Lol that drives me nutty.
“We aren’t going to do anything to think creatively and help ourselves, it’s THEIR job to do it for us.”
Then inevitably the rage posts over why it’s taking so long to fix.
“We are getting hit while standing inside these red circles!”
“Why not step away from them?”
“But it’s Anet’s job to STOP THE RED CIRCLES!”
P.S. For the record, I think the new camera angles are lame. I was annoyed when I came back and discovered them, too. But I guess I’m stubborn and didn’t let it beat me, and found other ways to counter.

I do it on both my necro and mesmer.
Necro is actually a bit easier.

It only takes one to kill a Mesmer. I’ve done it.
I’m sorry you’re strugglng with the class. The class is not OP.
What’s OP is people not understanding that class’s mechanics ….and asking for nerfs because they’re ineffective versus the class.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Dear me. Read your own words. You said 3-4 minutes.
Calling someone passive aggressive is silly. It detracts from the debate with a personal attack about a valuation you know nothing about.
If you felt I was talking down that’s on you. I did no such thing.
K, my mistake. AT LEAST 3-4 minutes.
Once again, please add to the discussion instead of whatever you’re trying to do here.
You’re the only one derailing it with long passages about my psyche, lol.
Dear me. Read your own words. You said 3-4 minutes. I’ve soloed swept for mesmers, talented one too. And booted them out. This is sounding more and more like a learning issue. Just practise more and don’t give up so easily.

I know you think you’re absolutely, undeniably right about this, but you’re wrong. Even with idiots using zoom hacks, there are still a ton of viable placements that cannot be targeted from outside, regardless of hack or just extended FOV, you just have to experiment to find them.
I knew saving this old video would I found long ago would come in handy:
(Smiles!)
(Link)
But hey, apparently you think that FoV and zoom hacks are just something we need to learn to avoid and deal with!
By the way, feel free to post a video of something proving your point.
(Smiley face!)
Oh yeah also, I thought it’s worth it to point out (For those in need it pointed out) that Dragons Tooth, since it has no line of sight requirement, has the same flexibility as an arrow cart; (or at least, pre-nerfed arrow carts) you just need to click on your target, which you can do if you can see what they can see!
In case you still are not following this line of thought, this is the point very simply: If you think Arrow Carts were a problem, Dragon’s Tooth is also a problem.
Lol, you are stubbornly ignoring the fact that you have to tag the siege to use DT. If you can’t see it, you can’t nuke it. Same with ACs placed outside. If you use proper placement inside, you can effectively counter without getting hit.
I was going to do a whole big post on placement but I get the feeling that would be a waste of time. People read/see what they want to, and stubbornly stick to old placements and wonder why they don’t work anymore when game changes happen.
I hate to shatter your naïve view the game, but some people do use cheats to see further than they should. Here is an old video demonstrating this!
(Link)
I hope this has broadened your horizons with who plays this game. The only solution is to make more abilities restricted by line of sight.
All those siege placements are ridiculously old … And, as you see, ineffective.
Again. Place your siege, go outside, can you see it? Can you tag it? If so, so can the enemy. Revise your placement.
Or keep stubbornly using the same spots, lol.
I am a mesmer.
I enjoy chasing down the the opposition in keep etc.
I disagree it is a major problem in WvW.
The big groups move on and don’t check.
Because they can’t be bothered – not a balance issue.
I lost count of how many times 20+ ppl had to take more than 15 min to finally get mesmers out of a keep or SM and many involved were definitely not idiots or bad players. It’s simply too easy for a good mesmer to escape with the tool he has and it is annoying as kitten.
Wow. We only usually have five max who stay behind in any structure — and we find them.
You do know that any channeling skill will keep hitting them even if they stealth right?
Yeah our server currently does that too, but it’s kind of silly that 5 players need to stay put to take care of 1 mesmer playing hide and seek. And what’s frustrating is when you find them, they can just blink away and go invisible right away. Maybe mesmers need a longer “revealed” trait, so they can’t chain invisibility?
Have you played a mesmer to 80, and frequently? Might be time invested if it’s causing this much angst.
They are stoppable.
Yes I have a mesmer that is level 80 and I know their tricks and combos. It’s definitely stoppable, but being stoppable does not mean it’s balanced.
Also great use of passive aggressive smileys (throughout this thread in fact). Here’s one back.
Lol, I’m not PA, just friendly.
Oh you’re definitely being very PA. And you’re definitely very sensitive with this mesmer issue. But keep deluding yourself. Also, a class that forces 5 players to stay behind to play hide and seek, or forces a player to play a specific class to counter them is pretty imbalanced, don’t you think?
Probably not, but then again, you think you’re not PA so you clearly don’t face the facts.
Lol you’re the getting snotty, not me. Personal attacks are a signal for a losing argument, lol.
I’ve said if blobbing is your thing, go for it, don’t sweep.
But don’t rag when you’re too lazy to sweep and lose a keep.
Seems like win-win to me.
Nah, you’re just talking down to everyone. Unless you can address the following, this is my last post to you since it’s detracting from the topic -
“A class that forces 5+ players to stay behind for 3-4 minutes to play hide and seek to POSSIBLY find the 1 enemy player, or forces others to play a specific class to counter them is pretty imbalanced, don’t you think?”
Can’t even flip the lord in 3-4 minutes with righteous indignation. And if you are struggling finding a mesmer in 3-4 minutes, that’s a learning process.
If you like to blob, go blob. If you don’t care to sweep, let it get flipped. Key is choice — and deciding what’s important for you in game. Don’t dictate where others find enjoyment.
you should probably avoid personal attacks. Makes your argument weak. You, too.
seek. Unless you think hide and seek is just part of the game, then more power to you.
oh the many times I’ve sat actually revealed while the mass blob does that ktrain choo choo and doesn’t even look, just trods on out, is delightful.
Bottom line if you don’t want to do it, then dont. But don’t complain a class is too OP because you’re too lazy to search. …. it’s too hard, sniffles.
If we can do it with a group of five, and stomp them, so can you! I have faith.
Once again, you’re delusional if you think you’re not PA.
Anyways, if you’re going to resort to talking down to others that agree with me in this thread (eg. Julie) and bully others to make your point, here’s a bit of your own medicine.
Lol where did I do that?
Goodness you are being a bit over sensitive.
Do you die to memser a lot?
Oh! Is it because I used her way of getting around the forum swear filter as a response? Lol, too funny.
