I’m happy BULL chose SoR, This should make things fun. Now if SoR and BG could politely point the next EU guild interested in moving to NA, to JQ before week 5 that would be greatly appreciated.
IF and I said IF, BG wins season one, I don’t want to hear Stackgate excuses.
There are four EU guilds that I know of being offered “incentives” to go to SoR currently. Aside from BuLL, I wouldn’t worry too much
Will miss fighting you guys in BuLL. Come back soon!
Add it to this sticky.
If you don’t push as one, you scatter your force and subsequently have less power to wipe the enemy. He who hesitates gets picked off by the enemy that is pushing forward as one big unit. From even a simple numbers example: Ten guys killing three who push forward, then one by one taking out the ones who hesitated, is much easier than hitting another 10 guys head on.
Repairing the walls and why not to:
NEVER repair a wall that’s being trebbed. It’s a waste of supply. Why? Because each 10 supply you put into a wall is removed/wasted each time the enemy treb hits that wall. So it becomes a war of attrition: forcing you to waste supply into a wall that will only get hit seconds later using up that 10 supply you just put into the wall. Eventually you will have zero supply to repair the wall, and be without options to build siege or run and get supply from a camp. Wait until the treb is destroyed before you start to repair a wall. In very rare cases it’s wise to repair a wall being trebbed, but that’s usually to buy a few minutes time as your friendly zerg comes into the rescue. Nine times out of 10, leave the trebbed wall alone until that enemy treb is destroyed.
As for how to determined decay of siege, someone explained it well above, but here’s an image too to show an example:

Read the post, this player works in France his friends are in France and play in France, he isn’t a “spy” OMG this is a game, I only want 3 servers fighting for the victory not for the second place like Jade, helped by Vizunah of course…
Well
And at last there is Baruch Bay players in France that go to their teamspeak, etc… and the players of both servers are in contact.
Translation issue? The way you worded it, you indicated the Baruch guy living in France went into Viz/Jade Sea’s teamspeak and learned of this collusion.
Again, this isn’t what I’ve come to expect for Baruch. I expect good fights and my butt handed to me a couple times
None of this other drama. Kind of like Piken, y’know?
Angainor.3654
And at last there is Baruch Bay players in France that go to their teamspeak, etc… and the players of both servers are in contact.
…. Wait …what?!
Vizunah and Jade play perfectly sincronized because are in contact through their Teamspeak servers, there is a post about this here, sorry it’s in spanish.
My question was more about you admitting Baruch had people in the enemy’s teamspeak to “discover” this …. Didn’t think Baruch did stuff like that.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Only thing you can do is document it like you have doe and file an actual support ticket with the players account name etc… under “violations.”
Ironically we were just talking about this very issue in this thread:
Yes, but 100 more of people like you who don’t normally come out (because they’re motivated by winning some big shiny), makes a significant dent
Plus if they’re truly motivated to win, they’ll learn how to do it properly to max their servers gain…. At least in theory, lol.
Also, for those saying it isn’t happening:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Abusing-siege-and-wasting-supply
If it’s easier for you to maintain several towers and keep’s worth of siege if the timer is increased to 2-3 hours, imagine how easy it will be for the griefer.
Don’t forget about proximity caps too at key points. Can only place five near each other before you cannot place anymore.
As for more people willing to suddenly play defense if the timers were increased, lol, you know that’s not true.
Not really. It motivates you to get out there and fight. If they gave everyone the same reward, people would do the bare minimum possible. It’s human nature, particularly on mmos. … And the far reaching implications would be dismal turnout for season two.
This sounds good in theory, but in reality the winners are determined solely by coverage.
However watch the winners get something significant and you’ll see a stampede for season two … Potentially evening out server population disparities as guild move to take a lower tier server to the winners circle.
If rewards are significant, we’d see another kind of disaster:
One big guild would transfer to a server in Bronze league giving that server an advantage. Other guilds would then bandwagon into the same server. Pretty soon, you’d have one server that would faceroll all competition in Bronze league making the League more of a farce than it already is.
Same would happen in Silver League.
TLDR: Remember when Kaineng rose up from T8 because WM transferred there? Same thing.
Lol so in one part you complain about a coverage war issue, then the next you say bronze league will be invaded.
You see the problem here? I’m not without sensitivity to fears and what you cited, but this was at least an effort to get people to spread out more. And more players on the map makes for some exciting matches.
People need to stop thinking of league play as one massive unit and instead realize it was separated into three for a reason, mostly the division of coverage to make it an obtainable goal, no matter what your server rank. And mostly so the big rewards weren’t solely given to the top three, which would further stack those servers.
If they award an ascended back piece to the winning server it will create a buzz about the leagues. There will be movement, but that’s happening even outside of the leagues, only typically in the wrong direction. Lower tier servers screamed about coverage, without physically moving players or randomly assigning servers to players, this is one way to help motivate players to spread out the population.
As for rewards not motivating people, it’s because, at the moment, people think it will be the kind of rewards you are clamouring for — equal for all (why bother then?) or junk (why bother then also?). If the rewards are significant, you can bet there will be a significant population jump in the second season.
The back piece, by the way, would only be great for the winning servers for a short duration, a perk of getting out there and winning the leagues, as anet has indicated they’re working on a way for all WvW players to get them and will introduce that soon. So there’s your equalizer.
This is a competition, coverage wars or not. And each league is a separate entity. Couple that with the fact that all this info had been out there for two months before the leagues started AND they offered a sale on transfer fees before it started up … No one to blame but yourself IF the shiny carrot was more important to you than the actual fights.
Making players compete so everyone gets the same reward kind of takes away from the meaning of the word competition. And why bother to fight for your server, outside of the core WvW crew who will do it regardless, if that’s the end result?

Wear skimpy gear as a commander. Tell the Zerg if they can’t see your cleavage, they’re too far away
Why should a server in Bronze automatically get worse reward than people in Gold just because they didn’t manage to get high enough rank to be put in Gold or Silver?
Why should you get better rewards in Bronze than other servers who put in a more consistent effort over many months to end up in a higher rank?
Until there is a more up to date response from ANET regarding this, the disparity will exist and perhaps after. Which ever way you look at it, there’s probably going to be some very annoyed people and to quote a commander from Mag
“I put in a huge effort over the past two weeks, I want a return on my investment!”.
Those sentiments will be shared by many.
Well if you had posted the full quote, it gives better insight (to help spread out the population):
I can’t comment at this time as we haven’t finalized anything. In addition, you should look at it this way, if people flee lower league servers to get into the top leagues, it opens the opportunity for people to move to those lower leagues and finish 1st or 2nd, rather than being in the top league and finishing 6th or 7th. The rewards for finishing 2nd in the Bronze League will be markedly better than the rewards for finishing 6th in the Gold league.
Honestly, as the fellow above said — if you’re playing WvW for the rewards, you’re doing it wrong.
And I’m a little surprised this is coming from someone on Mags, really.
And at last there is Baruch Bay players in France that go to their teamspeak, etc… and the players of both servers are in contact.
…. Wait …what?!
Yup. If the reward is the reason why you play WvW.
All this information has been out there for almost two months before the leagues even started. If the reward was more important to you, then you had ample time to transfer.
In fact, if you recall, they even had a sale on transfer fees in the week leading up to the leagues. Medium population servers were even free. (My server was already in tier 1 at that time and was medium pop btw).
The only fair way is for ANET to reward either the same reward to all who participated or random rewards to all from a set pool of rewards irrelevant of where you finish or what league you’re in.
This is just silly.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
To be fair, that quote is from September 1st, nearly two months before the leagues started.
Gosh these are awesome. And the extras you added are fantastic. Thank you for these!
That’s in NA.
That doesn’t happen in EU. The train, not the queues … Although the queues EU side seem to be improving. Believe that’s happening NA side as well?
(edited by Jayne.9251)
But people on our forums are saying that on reset we had queues and outmaned buff… So, i think it says that this bug is there…
Yeah something funky there for sure…..
Don’t post screens or video here of the flying guy hon. It’s against forum rules. Just file the ticket under “violations” …. the more info/screenshots/videos the faster they can deal with it. Is this guy on Baruch? Yeah you can yell at a teammate to stop all you want and they can ignore you. The ticket hopefully will get him banned. I don’t think there’s a single server community out there that likes seeing that kind of stuff.
As for tower flipping without the gate down, just make sure it wasn’t a well hidden Mesmer. I’ve hidden in various towers or keeps for upwards of 45 minutes sometimes, waiting to portal people in
They let us all know how it would work nearly two months in advance. It gave people plenty of time to make the right choice for them.
So I should just abandon my server, my guild, and all the people I know in the game so I can get better rewards in WvW?
Nope. But that’s your personal choice based on what motivates you alone. If the shiny carrot was more important, then yup, move. If the community is more what you value, then do your best to fight/recruit. The key here is choice. Everyone was given the same information months ahead of the leagues. My server will never win it, but for me the shiny carrot has never been that important.
They let us all know how it would work nearly two months in advance. It gave people plenty of time to make the right choice for them.
Yeah it’s been like this for at least six months. There are workarounds, like typing command stuff in manually like /join and /invite, or just typing in the name at top if friends list to add.
You can also double click the players name if they talk in map to whisper.
I have always typed mine in from scratch since the bug began. Support offered one more suggestion — unticking both “remember password” and “remember username” and I will have to try that on Monday when I can use my computer again. Crossing my fingers it works.
Have someone do a quick run to the jumping puzzle on the map and check for green dots. There’s been a lot of reports of odd map numbers and queues since the leagues have started, but at least eliminate the possibility it’s not pve players trying to get their achievement. For some reason they all come out on reset.
As for the flying supermen, take a screen shot and submit an actual support ticket. I believe the in game reporting is overwhelmed and stuff gets missed.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
I am such a terrible jumper, the only time I ever did the eb jp, it took me an hour. Kept falling, over and over. The enemy wound up killing everyone but me, probably because I was a great source of amusement.
Anet just needs to make portals not go through intact gates and walls.
They did. Back in February.
This is something else entirely different.
Most 2v1s “happen” when server B attacks server A, discovers it’s well defended and hard to flip, so they focus server C because there’s less resistance. Server A, because it’s the stronger one will often swap focus between Server B and C (if they’re smart), so when Server A focuses on Server C, and server B has few options, it will appear like a 2v1.
Server C will likewise focus Server B because they perceive a 2v1 or discover, like Server B, they cannot flip anything on Server A maps.
Server A really only has to be a fortress for the first couple days of the match to dissuade and demoralize their opponents, then the remaining two servers will turn on each other instead. While some may try to continue to make inroads into Server A territory all week, it won’t nearly be as strong a rally after they’ve been pushed out with force the first couple of days.
In reality it has nothing to do with collusion and everything to do with strategy.
The only time I’ve seen it actually happen was in response to server forum warriors decrying double teaming. It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Still another hour of game time till reset. This match is so close I’m betting that second place spot will come right down to the last minute
Ooh Mark got a new title.
Congratz!
Better to be an hour early to get in than an hour late, no?
I’m wagering on season one winners getting an ascended back piece, second place gets exotic, third rare … Plus the finishers, etc…
Why back piece? It doesn’t exist in WvW yet, but has been asked for a ton of times. Most living story events had some kind of back piece skin. Making it ascended makes it truly a unique reward for the servers that go after it.
People will flip out over only some players getting it, but you can bet it will cause a stampede for season two. And not just on the T1 servers.
They do have a plan in the works so everyone can get one eventually: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Ascended-backpieces-via-WvW …. So the season one winners essentially just get them a bit earlier —- a reward for winnIng that top spot.
My server has no chance of getting first, but I will certainly congratulate the first place winners.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Depends on how your server does. Winners of the various leagues will get a “better” reward. It’s a reason to get out there and fight for your server.
If they offer a major reward for server placement, they will get hoards of people out for season two. If it’s just a skin or finisher, I think season two will flop.
Time is relative. You aren’t being forced to participate in WvW. If you feel you can get better rewards outside of it, then do that.
Otherwise get out there and fight. The only thing the devs have said on reward from Sept. 1:
Community concern is that incentives will be high enough to draw players to transfer up the tiers, killing even more low tier servers, over filling silver tiers with players and so forth for gold. Can you comment on any plans to address community size issues?
I can’t comment at this time as we haven’t finalized anything. In addition, you should look at it this way, if people flee lower league servers to get into the top leagues, it opens the opportunity for people to move to those lower leagues and finish 1st or 2nd, rather than being in the top league and finishing 6th or 7th. (edited by Jayne.9251)
Ah then yes.
the reset time remains “stationary” …. So with the time change it’ll start an hour earlier. Gosh I’m confusing myself with trying to explain it, hope it makes sense to you.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Lol I flagged this during beta last year.
I guess in the long list of issues, typos take low priority.
Time change doesn’t happen till Sunday. Next weeks match I believe will be affected.
I assigned aoe loot to Z. Bottom left key, easy to hit mid fight.
This site is interesting during live matches because at far right at bottom it shows you where each server is focusing. It’s a neat quick glance tool:

Totally hijacked your thread, sorry about that.
Ps. The minute you stealth the target marker drops.

I only wear two pieces of toughness gear. I rarely run veil. I’m terrible in that I covet my build and don’t like sharing, because I don’t want to see “me” out there everywhere.
But my bags are always full when I zerg. And I survive long fights and tag tons because of the specs I use.
Now mind you I found my skill level improved greatly when I moved to EU, so maybe that has something to do with it. Dunno. Can only tell you what I’m seeing on my end.
Hon I’m on Piken. T1 EU. Vizunah is massive
My bags 20 slot, max spaces, fill up entirely every 20 minutes when I choose to join the Zerg.
As for avoiding the Zerg, stealth and double dodge and vitality over 25k is your friend.
P.S. Phantasmal Disenchanter is severely underrated, particularly versus necros.
P.PS. If one type,of build isn’t working for you, try others. There a lot to choose from. Half the fun is in experimenting.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Yeah if a warrior turns tail and bolts when he’s losing, that’s incredibly frustrating as a Mesmer. I’m working on learning how to counter that.
Thieves were my last project. I wound up making my own thief to understand the class. Hrm, maybe I need to do that with a warrior.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
/shrug.
I’m fine with the Mesmer how it is (bit of speed might be nice though). I’m not squishy, I have yet to be beat by a warrior in a duel, I can survive three-way keep battles for more than two hours and not die once, I can portal and ninja stuff, I have debuff spells that few use but are uber powerful … There’s a heck of a lot of survivability in the class and a ton of useful utility items that make for some interesting combination and builds that aren’t cookie cutter.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
You are locked into the server you zoned into when the leagues started for the final reward. If you transfer you still get your reward based on the server you started.
Next season I imagine they’ll give at least a week in between to pick another server before it starts, should you wish … at least I would assume so.
I think in EQ2 they had raid mobs that would make the tanks stop mid-battle and do a cry animation
