My main is a mesmer, with about 3k hours in WvW. When I was first learning the class I was delighted to learn you could do this. But after getting more proficient, I dunno, the gate rezzing thing just feels cheap to me. It’s much more of a “wahoo!” moment to hide well, then portal people in. I make a game of seeing how many times I can do that on reset versus various servers on different maps. My best to date has been 8 SM flips (I had a fabulous teacher on SM) and 2 Bay flips in same night on reset versus Vizunah.
Of course my job was the easy part. It helps to have some pretty tough guilds and commanders on your side to see the portals through.

Not really. Most wait till the enemy gets bored or leaves the keep. Then they dodge the npcs and portal in.
It’s more impressive if a Mesmer can dodge being chased by five or more enemy, hide, stealth, then portal in, without some lame outside rezzing mechanic.
It doesn’t take much talent to run to a gate and die.
Just sayin’.
Stand at the gate as it breaks, make sure you do enough damage yourself, and you’ll get it as the gate breaks.
Naw it’s lame really. It just becomes a battle of wills. I don’t really see it as an exploit, but a seasoned Mesmer won’t typically use it. With so many means of escape, the death by the gate thing is really only for weak players.
Yeah if they prevented you being able to open bags or even char screen on death — basically nothing until you respawn — it would fix a ton of issues.

EDIT: ZDs move was always temporary. How long they stay in NA is up to them.
Queues in EU are normalizing again after the achievement hunters have gone to hit the new content. So it’s kind of like what it was before the WvW leagues began. About 20 minute queue during EU prime on Piken at least.
You guys must be seeing a shift on queues there too?
Gosh I wonder what national alliance Viz will team up with next week?

Filing more than one ticket on the same thing may delay your response as they sort through.

This video alone, in first week of T1 league match, is worth watching.
Get ten friends in a tower and build 10 superior ACs. Farm them as they come in expecting an empty tower.
Just because xyz players arranged something, doesn’t mean you have to participate, especially if you feel it’s abusing the system.
As I’ve said numerous times. Ask an old timer TC player about Fascinating Gift.
The troll siege cap was how it was in the past. The one hour siege refresh essentially quashed that.
A three hour refresh timer will see a resurgence in this behaviour and effectively render you impotent to defend at all.
That said. Gosh, really going to bow out of this thread now because it appears you can’t seem to understand the implications. And we keep circling the same discussion without the lightbulb going off.

Ok but let’s say the map is capped because someone’s built useless siege. The tower you’re defending is empty. Because the map is capped, you can’t even put down a single ac. And that’s locked in for three hours now. Plenty of time for an enemy team to roll an entire map, not just one tower. Just how long do you think you’ll be able to hold off a tier 1 Zerg with zero siege?
Remember, you cannot stop a teammate from using any supply on a map, or building siege. You can yell at them all you want. They’ll just ignore you. That’s how it was in the past.

No sure what is going on with you guys, but I am pretty sure every single bit of siege I put up today will be gone when I get up tomorrow morning. Always is.
Lol. Do you only sleep three hours a night? That might be part of the problem
You can buy siege with badges if the cost of silver is too much. It’s pretty normal to have to build new siege every day. Again, as long as it’s there when I need it,,during the time I play, that’s all I require.
Well not sure now else to explain the danger of it being increased to more than an hour other than what I’ve outlined already. Oh I know! Ask an old timer on TC about Fascinating Gift.

Lol, you’re doing it wrong then.
The best way I came to terms with the fleeting life of a piece of siege is that if it lasted the entire time I played (and I made myself responsible for going to refresh it once an hour), then if it disappeared after I left for the day, that was fine. I consider the cost of siege really a rental fee. If it’s there when I need it, and it usually is because of my own personal culpability, then it was worth the cost.
Every map has a set amount of siege you can place before you can’t place anymore. I believe it’s 180 pieces, with golems and rams having their own limit of 90 for rams and 50 for golems.
If an enemy team wished to hit an easy target, they could send in a spy to the target server to not only waste supply but cap the map with ballis facing walls etc (basically unusable). Then they attack the targeted towers or keeps knowing their rival can no longer place any more siege on map to defend. One hour refresh makes it a lot of work for the siege troll and patently obvious if the guy comes back to refresh it. Three hours opens up a bigger window and locks that server into not being able to place siege for anything for three hours minimum.

There were a number of us who would do eight hour shifts, on various servers, running constantly to just refresh siege and doing nothing else. We had a big long thread on it. They finally conceded and gave us an hour and made it consistent timers accross the board, rather than random.
An hour is still ok for me personally, especially when I think back to how it was.
However, if they went longer, say 3 hours, it would open servers up to troll siege griefing with useless rams/ballis, etc meant to cap a map and give an unfair advantage to the enemy server. Three hour refresh timers would be very easy to abuse. Imagine not even being able to drop a ram to take a tower and be forced to dps down every gate?
So the one hour is kind of a happy medium. Siege griefing does still exist, but nowhere near as bad as it was when some siege wouldn’t despawn at all.

Better yet, even before that it was completely random, lol. One piece would die in 10 minutes, another stay there for three days.
Man, I’m so glad this stuff doesn’t happen in EU.
Win trading is about as mindless as it gets. I mean it’s just pure farming. Go to Orr if you want that. You’ll get a heck of a lot more rewards and mats than you’d ever get in WvW.

Holy smokes! The fights on psbl all day today were intense and utterly amazing. Thank you AR and RS for capping my evening with that brutal three way in Bay (someone owes me dinner, haha!)
I was apprehensive to fight Vizunah after reading all the smack talk in various match threads. Not sure if something changed internally there but when we faced them there was little hiding in towers and tons of open field fights. I actually really enjoy fighting Viz, they are massive, but it’s not just numbers, they have some truly skilled players.
Deso, well you could pretty much see the toxic in any match thread, with the bulk of posts coming from Deso players fighting with each other publically. Only EU server I have seen doing that.
Bull! You aren’t allowed to leave until after next weeks match with Piken! The queue issue should be dying down this week with the pve folks headed out to gobble up other content. Hang in there!

Ah so your issue is the line that asks for a character gives you an error when you leave it blank because you haven’t created one yet.
You can place a ballista at the bottom of the spawn steps (or treb or ac) … Get supply from the,other borderlands. If the enemy gets too close the spawn guards will wipe them. Doesn’t get you fully into the map, but it will let you take out their spawn camping siege, particularly if you build a treb
Having faced ZD, I figured they’d fit in well with NA play.
Bull on the other hand, I really hope they stay at least one more week on BB so we can fight next week! Love the Bull guys, very classy gents. Zeev still owes me a duel!!

Did you validate your account via the email that was sent (usually a different email than the one with your game code)?

And my memory is fuzzy, but I could have sworn you were never able to use the mystic forge with WvW exotics … Rares at one point yes, but never exotics …. But I think I tried it a long time ago and it could have changed since …. So I thought I’d ask you all.
Didn’t think you could ever forge WvW exotics. I think you could with rares at one point, but not exotics.
