Taking a moment to show someone how to do something is the gateway drug to WvW.
Prepare the forums for the incoming “Anet is forcing me (a pver) to play wvw! Worst game! Dead game! Unacceptable! Literally unplayable!”
To be fair, WvWers have been saying this for years now.
I will use my mesmer pull to disengage the ram action.
Honestly, you’re better off diving at them from above, and using a siege disabler, and then calling the map to help.
anet just needs to call up zenimax and ask to borrow their PVP set up for ESO. minus the sneaking bit.
Then why aren’t you playing it?
No to OP. Just no.
This has been proposed over and over, only to be debunked. And the devs step in and confirm its not a workable solution.
Do folks think if a small group keeps pushing this agenda it will finally prevail?
If you like ESO, go play ESO.
Reminds me of the days when any class with any weapons could punt…
It’s the jubilant “Yay!” from that one player that makes the video
You can also hit SM from red keep.
See who makes more holes faster.
Red keep on EB is the easiest keep to defend in my experience. And stop thinking about its defense within its walls.
I still miss Commander Commander Jadon. But I suspect he’s oni on my home server …. No one can ever forget the dolyak revenge speech and the chaos that followed.
And Xerk, who taught me Serbian…. Opa Idemo!!! My mom, your dad. Hope he’s doing ok
And Roy, the American EU whisperer, who could unite an entire server.

My actual server tag above my head would be a start.
I really don’t understand why they haven’t done this already. It’s the simplest of fixes that would please a huge number of people.
Older players come with their issues, too.
As in the “I’m always right, you’re wrong” crew.
Player age is really irrelevant. Player respect builds solid communities.
Be the example you want to see, no matter what, and watch the overall server tone change.
Just reduce supply map wide. Revert dollies back to increments that means a player has to physically go to the camp to increase each time (do it without money need).
Those two things would have significant impact on the map.
Forces players to jump to another map to get supp — reducing the supp on the other map and forcing players to pick a map to prioritize.
Forces players to have to leave keeps and towers to maintain camp upgrades.
Everything is based on supply. The rest of your wish list would follow.
WvW should have its own specialized armour, with unique skins for each server, that takes six months plus to get a full set. And tested fully to ensure no shortcuts to getting. And no caving to cries on the forums. It should be hard to get and extra bonus is it forces you to get to know the community.
Not legendary, but a set that offers unique benefits to wvw. Better than legendary
Better still, make it a fully engaged comm plan, where server players submit armour designs, they get voted on, so each server “owns” it’s design. Encourages player engagement and personal investment, and ushers in a new era of player-driven gaming.

Where trusted relationships and mutual respect has organized guilds listening to scout call outs to get the fights. And both sides are rewarded: guilds get to test their mettle vs map blobs, scouts rescue structures. Win-win.
Havoc crews stomping other havoc groups. Duellers respond to emergency call outs and mercilessly stake the enemy running back from spawn. Seamless coordination and teamwork. A place where every play style is recognized as having value. A symphony.
And I get to play conductor.

EU has been doing this for months.
You don’t need Anet to do it for you. Organize. Have a respectful discussion with all involved. It can happen.
As WvW population drops holes in coverage and population imbalance grow creating more lopsided matches.
And until the players take a more proactive stance on balancing population it is only going to get worse.
FTFY
I thought the whole purpose of being a roamer was to run in a group of up to 5 players in a party being invisible so they get fights. If they have a tag above thier head it would make them visible to tag watchers. The tags are good the way they are. Most servers have it in place already that the red tag is for scouts etc.
Anything more than 1 is havoc.
Roamers are solo.
Don’t most servers already have a designated colour for scouts/havoc?
Wait. Defense was profitable at some point?!!
Well I’ve been doing it wrong. ><
They’re reverting EU back to single servers and leaving all the new shiny changes for you hip NA kids.
This is why you always build ACs on stairs.
TIL There’s a WvW Producer~
waves
He’s wearing a few hats. Feels like me at work.
Thank you for the heads up. It’s been asked for a number of times; appreciate you doing that.
Is it wrong that because its EU only that I’m hoping for a reversion back to solo servers for all?
I think Gaile made a post just for you OP:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Inappropriate-Forum-Topics/first#post6408674
You always are on here asking for server unlocks or adjustments. Just reposting as it seems you haven’t seen the sticky at the top of the page.
Mags has been doing this for years. It’s a pity they’re T1.
Mags talks about a militia that doesn’t need a commander to operate. That’s been EU from the get-go.
EU servers have been doing this all along.
All these ridiculous “fixes” have really taken the spirit out of EU wvw.
I really wish they’d revert EU back to single servers and let NA have all the shiny new “fixes” because it’s really an NA issue that’s starting to infect EU, because people have given up.
- People regularly complain that Anet staff never talk to them.
- Anet staff leave posts asking people to be cool to each other.
- People respond by giving Anet staff plenty of reasons to not talk to them, because, reasons
- gg
Yeah but Gaile’s not a dev but people seem to insist on giving her (or any red name that posts here) the full-on assault of complaints.
She can absolutely pass your issues along, and I’m pretty sure she does, but I’ll go back to an old analogy I used here three years ago: If every time you engage with someone they punch you in the face, how inclined are you to engage again?
People should definitely post opinions — but you have to realize there’s a lot of agendas behind some of those opinions here, simply because the WvW mode is competitive; and not necessarily proposed for the health of the game. (See: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Social-engineering-and-MMO-forums )

Sorry this is nonsense. And elitist. At the very least non-inclusive.
WvW cannot afford to ignore any warm bodies.
If you truly only care about guild quality play, organize, take your own advice, and move to a lower tier where you can play unmolested from the unwashed masses.
In an old MMO I still play, it used to cost $75 to transfer a character from one server to another. Just one character. Not the entire account. And just cold, hard cash; no means of earning gold in game to mitigate the cost.
It made people think long and hard about jumping servers.
That’s kinda my point, the issue does not occur if one is some distance away from the blob v blob. We all die in this game and of course want to get right back into the middle of SMC. Respawning at spawn/keep and there’s no skill lag/lag what so ever until you’re approximately at the outer walls of SMC.
That’s not true though.
If there’s a big fight in SMC it doesn’t matter where you are in the map, you’ll lag.
People who scout/roam can attest to this.
April Fool’s joke?
Impossible.
Arenanet is well known to be dead serious with April first patch notes.
ACCEPT
ADAPT
I think you meant “Inconceivable!”
I already have Yakslapper title, it’s the only title I show.
I was combing my hair!!!
Amend the OP to say “Remove links in EU please”.
NA can keep them!
The problem here is, anet said that links were a quick easy solution to help with population bleed, but where’s the long term solution? It’s been almost a year, are they even working on a long term solution or are they just waiting for this to completely die? Anet has done next to nothing the past year to help promote wvw and try to get players into it, wvw has been dying a slow death from day one.
Their long term solution was the battlegroup proposal but anet got cold feet.
Because it was a terrible idea that only catered to a specific set of people and didn’t include the majority.
You would say the same thing about any alliance based change proposal, you only think its terrible because you personally don’t want the mode to go in that direction.
I’m not alone. In fact, I’d say I’m in the majority.
Anet should really tell us what percentage of the population is organized guilds, because that’s only who that kind of mode would benefit.
And if implemented, then we would really start to see some gaming of the system.

Well you know what curiosity does to cats.
You have like same amount players than enemy.
Most definitely not, in the first clip by 2:30 we have killed 6players, we are 5, and as you can see there are still plenty more left to kill after that and we go on to kill more.
They had one more than you did? And you wiped em? Wow.
No joke…
Killed 4 and one ran off back to his keep. While I agree that this definetly no place to joke about your awesome skill, its really not that hard to kill 4 clones.
That’s going to go over his head.
I went into wvw completely hating all things pvp.
I was fortunate to run into a commander who helped me get map completion.
I stayed because I wanted to give something back for the kindness.
Hung out. Learned the map. Got completely engaged by the teamwork and community.
Now have a hard time playing pve.
Stick around, see where you can help. A WvWer will always answer genuine questions, and soon you’ll be hooked like me.
Can’t believe this hasn’t been done yet.
100 Forum posts QQing about locked server
10,000 gold to buy mediocre guild
1 “Favour” to move popular commander into locked server
250 Packet of salt.
1 Anet insider to provide “favour” despite forum outcry
To create Gift of Unlock Server
looks left. looks right. whispers in hushed tones…..
I’ve never refreshed siege for the sole purpose of refreshing it since the day I entered WVW
when it wasn’t sell able, i’d drop for others to pick-up…..
You are a terrible person.
i have a suggestion – remove all sieges from WvW
Oh then you’ll drool all over the gates and make a mess.
I subscribe to the KISS principle when it comes to WvW.
We have, historically, been shown that gimmicks don’t work in WvW.
If you want an event, create one. Lots of players do. They’re fun.
It’s the community that has kept me playing. Good friends having a good time.
This.
Nobody seems to get this, not even the devs here.
EQ2 chugging along with paid monthly subscriptions for 12+ years now. Why? Community.
GW2 has it. They just keep trying to kill it.
In fact, I’d wager the WvW community is 10 times stronger than the pve one here.
Isn’t it still common practice for pretty much every server in EU (except maybe SFR) to say “oh no, you don’t want us, we’re terrible, here! take a look at those other servers!”
If it’s just one thief, and you’ve ascertained it’s just one thief; let him fill his boots. He can’t solo the lord even if he somehow does get beyond the gates and once you stop giving him attention, he’ll likely go find something else to do.
In fact, if I spotted him, I’d stand there and wave because it reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuYPjzeY_Fk
You’re basically just entertaining him by running around looking for one guy.
The thing about the ones who are racist, sexist or generally rude is they often don’t think they are when really they’re alienating a lot of players. The people that don’t want to join TS because of the general rudeness, sexist remarks, racism whether mild or extreme aren’t doing so because this one time someone said something mean. They don’t join because more often than not they hear these remarks over and over again and decided their life is better off not hearing people. You don’t need TS to stick to the commander, push, regroup, blast, change direction etc, if you’ve ever done anything slightly organised you can read the situations and know where to be.
This isn’t about talking either, it’s about having to hear this rubbish while being on TS whether you talk or not.
I don’t generally join TS because having fought the server we are linked with I came to the conclusion they’re a bunch of immature players who happily gank others, spam emotes and bleed them out for no reason than to be salty. I don’t care if the commander has a voice like the smooth crooning of Frank Sinatra, I won’t join because I think they’re a bunch of kittenbags.
If those remarks are not intentionally inflammatory, maybe it’s time to grow a thicker skin. You know, despite what some splinters of society and certain blogs are trying to make you believe, you do not have a duty to take offense.
The thicker skin argument is a strawman.
It’s an excuse for crappy behaviour. Period.
Why not try not being adults?
OK, here’s how to be adult:
So people don’t want to be in TS because they don’t like what is said. Exactly. Players in guilds that get on TS do so for more reasons than just fight coordination. They also socialize with each other. Not every Tom, kitten, and Harry is going to get along. If you’re not going to fit in socially with a guild on TS, we don’t want you on TS with us either nor reading our squad chat. It makes for bad social situations. Have you considered that some “adult” guilds are 18+ or have requirements such as “mature player”? Is someone going to complain that adults are in the wrong because the game is 13+ so it is unfair that we don’t allow players under 18 to join when the chat is inappropriate? Adults know they have choices with who they socialize and play with and don’t need to be making demands to be included in something that isn’t going to mesh in the first place.
Bull-kitten.
Keep the guild chat within the guild window. You have every right to subject guildmates to whatever you all deem acceptable. Don’t like it? Leave the guild.
WvW on the other hand requires multiple guilds/personalities/whathaveyou to operate effectively together. Start alienating any one set of folks and the map falls apart.
Being an adult sometimes means compromising.
It only took NA four years to learn T1 =/= best gameplay.
And after I read the title I thought it was going to be about commanders selling squad spots to pugs…..
It’s nice to know that WvW hasn’t dropped to the low levels that is seen in PvE.
Screaming about it, right?
Not asking for it.
This thread. Pandora’s box. It would completely eliminate the whole premise behind WvW: teamwork.
I know there’s been a lot of folks who want an EoTM version of WvW — aka a big giant champ train map.
If any of you do this I’m calling your mothers.
*gives you all the hairy eyeball
Thankfully this wouldn’t work en masse. 25 people standing at spawn while 5 push the map would never work. Law of diminishing returns: have to have the bodies. Can’t all be flowers at spawn. Then someone finds out someone paid money to sit afk, and asks for their share, and then boom, no more zerg.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Just had another thought.
Have you considered instead of using just player-hours to determine a server’s activity level, that you modify it based upon a servers kdr numbers?
You just want more loot bags.
Bad WvWer. Bad. Bad.
Thwump.

Why not try not being adults?
It’s quite the contrary here on Maguuma. The typemanders don’t get more than 10 people and the commanders that throw around racial slurs in teamspeak get 50 on tag.
The Maguuma I’m on it doesn’t appear to matter either way. Players hive mind and wipe the other groups with or without TS.
Although I’d rather not be in the same TS as a certain commander saying ‘dude’ every other word, dude.
P.S. even Jarvan performs better by not even speaking. Hue hue hue.
Oh because this is supposed to be a game where we’re all on the same team?
Being non-inclusive only limits, not engages.
I’m not on TS, yet when I do blob, I’m usually one of the last standing. Why? Because I have learned my class composition that I can follow without having my hand held.
I get that it’s a useful tool. I can’t use it for medical reasons. But you’d be down a very dedicated and accurate player if you pulled that stuff on me. Thankfully it’s not an issue on my server. Which kind of makes me appreciate everyone who plays on it.
So you want the benefits of being part of the team, but don’t want to log on TS to be a part of the team? Not how it works buddy.
Some people can’t use teamspeak for multiple reasons.
It’s not as simple as “I don’t want to do it.”
I always recognize the commanders that do this on map and leave immediately. There are thankfully plenty of commanders on my server that are willing to work with me without teamspeak. And you know what? Those guys get the big crowds, every time.
