Honestly, I don’t think JQ can be blamed entirely for what their SEA players do… DB SEA also normally push DB to where it don’t belong. The difference is that DB received people from other timezones and solidified their place in T1 whilst JQ lost players in other timezones and fell from grace.

People major complaint about JQ in their matches is their lack of NA presence. Which is funny to hear that a server that is at T1 doorstep isn’t receiving NA guilds looking for a pass into that tier. Of course, JQ is no longer open, but I wonder why it didn’t received NA guilds while it was…

Serious question here…

3 weeks ago DB, BG and JQ in T1, DB wins, BG in second JQ in 3rd

2 weeks ago DB gets knocked from FIRST place in T1 into T2, BG, JQ stay T1 and TC moves up

Last week BG wins, JQ in second and TC in 3rd

But now, JQ has a score higher an TC but is in T2 with no pairing and TC(who has a pairing) is in T1 against DB and BG…

What exactly is going on with scoring? Are you guys just throwing darts at a board to figure out T1? Or is TC cozying up with the right people?

It really makes no sense to me what so ever and I would really appreciate an explanation.

It still early to call this week scores… The matches pretty much just reseted. Give it a day or two before jumping unto conclusion. I’m pretty sure TC still cannot compete with BG.

But I was a native SoS player.

If you moved with NSP unlink, you clearly are not on SoS buddy. Accounts are tied to the server and they do not change unless you transfer.

That mean you are a NSP native player. NSP was linked to SoS until today, and now it will be the host server for DH and DR for the next 2 months.

Im kinda surprised TC got a link….
In my eyes TC was always the 2nd most stacked server after BG…

TC was faring even worse than JQ last time they were in T1. Honestly I think both of them needed a link (No BG or DB tho) but I guess Anet wanted to try 3 tri-links this time (Altho we got YB+FC on T4 matchup atm and not CD tri-link).

Anet, you need to reconsider discriminating links based on language. I don’t get why Riverside is not linked.

Bruh, if there is a server that will get the short end of the stick in the separation by language, it’s Baruch Bay… There is no other spanish server for them to be linked. If it ever happen to Baruch become dead last, it’s over for them. There will be no hope.

you can still take all the keeps fairly easily with 2 people…maybe 1? never tried. I know all towers are solo-able except (for me at least) that kitten necro/minion kitten .

I can solo all 4 towers and I’ve duo Earth and Fire keeps. Never got anything at Air with less than 5 tho. The CC fiesta is too strong.

After 4 years they still can’t figure out that people only play if they winning. Then they link server that have huge potential WvW population together with two other servers. Facerolling start when these (let’s call them leechers) notice that they are winning and come leeching.

Despite the fact that you are clearly trolling (as usual), it’s sad that this is the real way your average player thinks today. If he see there is a possiblity that he won’t win, he won’t even try. Then you get stuck with one side flooded with fairweather leechers, while the oposition are just a handful of diehards who refuse who join the brainless mass.

DBL and Bloodlust

Our immediate focus, besides scoring, was to bring the Desert Borderlands map back, in the mixed borderland setup, that the community recently voted for.

Now that both maps are available to players, at all times, we can begin deciding if we want bloodlust to become a feature in Desert.

Might I suggest what I think is an easy fix (I’m not a programmer, it might be really hard, I don’t know).

What if, instead of having bloodlust obtained through capturing runes, it is obtained though securing the mercenaries in the Eternal Battlegrounds (i.e. the frogs, dredge and ogres). There are three of them, they are in neutral areas, they can be flipped by one person easily. They can be “shut down” by opposing servers, and they naturally decap over time, creating more opportunities to steal/secure. It would bring more interest to an area that is usually just a path to run though, and all of those areas are great for fights (good chokes, obstacles, etc.) so it might encourage more action there as well. EBG also tends to be a more populated map and I think will profit from having one more feature, however small it may be.

Just a thought.

EBG is already popular enough, I don’t think it need anything else added to it. Besides, moving bloodlust to eternal battlegrounds would just kill the ruins in the middle of ABL. What would they do? Sunk it again and put back the lake?

Players not dying to Down penalty

I’d remove Illusion of Life from the list since the player will go down again unless a enemy dies.
Also Bandage is the #4 while downed. Why is it in the list?

Base warrior still has access to stability, EP, and berserker stance, any one or two of which is more than enough to secure a stomp in nearly all situations.

I understand your counter point, but just to make small point of my own. Your guild seems to be built around stealthing a player when they go down. Stomping one of you fellows when you are in a team is ridiculously difficult… and I think you know that.

You can still aoe on top of where the downed player was and problably end up killing him and anyone stupid enough to stay in the aoe fiesta. The only people who still can ress while stealthed are the people who would be able to survive the aoe dmg/cc, which are people who didn’t needed the stealth in the first place.

I like Schrell’s idea but I think it could be better with an adjustment

The scoring effect of Bloodlust affects all maps
The stat bonus only affects the native map

Nobody fight for bloodlust for the stats tho. Your proposal still keep the scoring imbalance people are complaining about.

Desert BL Garrison Wall

That is where the barrier used to be that stretched out to the cliff on each side. Funny they never fixed the wall sizes when they removed them.

Probably didn’t have the art asset to fill it in. Not a very good excuse of course.

Actually this bug wasn’t there when they removed the barricades in april. Must be somenthing new with the changes they made on the map while it was off.

Desert BL and the Donut Phylosophy

EotM is flawed because there is no incentive to do anything other than farm it, and everyone wins by looting the mobs in a clockwise direction. What if you actually had to win the match to get the good rewards? People would defend and compete. EotM could actually work if it saw some love.

EotM have some gimmicks worse than DBL tho…

Ok, how can it not be a feature and have all things equal with scoring? I don’t get that.

Huh, not having a bloodlust give more purpose to it imo. There is more incentive to fight over it since one server will always be short. It’s kinda like SMC. There is only 1 castle for all 3 servers. Now we have only 2 bloodlust for 3 servers.

Most people were pretty confortable with only having 1 bloodlust (hardly going to contest other map ones). Now one server is out of the confort zone.

Honestly I think Wildcreek (And Klovan) should have BOTH walls breakable. The green team is normally the dominant team of the matchup and don’t need to have the easiest towers to defend. Unfortunely that could lead to make it impossible to reach lords unless Anet change where the stairway are located.

Well at least there is one good thing in this, with desert next to alpine on the map maybe the people that kept arguing for desert being same size as alpine will finally kitten.

People ever did say that? I mean, I’m not a DBL hater, but I know DBL is larger than ABL (and argueable than EBG aswell).

With the re-introduction of DBL, it can be much easier to get 195 participation as there are more solo objectives in this map than ABL (the keep shrines). You can just circle around taking sentries, shrines and the veteran creature events (you can skip the camps if you’re afraid it will take too long).

The walls not appearing correctly allowing some to walk through is a known bug that will be fixed in the next release.

Also, the Wildcreek and Rogue’s Quarry changes were deliberate.

So is this fixed with todays patch or were you guys to busy with bringing in a BL the loudmouth minority don’t wanted ?

Honestly I wish that instead of 7 days matchups we had a 3-day long one (Fri-Sun) and a 4 day long one (Mon-Thu) in a single week. But that’s a whole different story…

3rd maps means nothing when it comes to assigning the appropriate color to something.

Symmetry…

“close agreement in size, shape, and position of parts that are on opposite sides of a dividing line or center : an arrangement involving regular and balanced proportions”

The question asked by another poster was “why red?”…

Red was chosen as the permanent color because it fits the desert theme, not because of symmetry.

“Why red?” – Because Red borderland is the one in the middle? D’oh…

Placement of map doesn’t matter, the color red would be more associated with the desert themed side out of blue, red and green…

Color matching to themes and symmetry are 2 different things.

Until a 3rd map comes unto play, my statement still stand. Period.

Im just waiting for them to continually give the biggest force the red map. Or, give actual red the red map and wait for the real. consensus of how easy defending is.

Remember, we only had DBL for 3 or so weeks into these linkings, a majority of the experience we have on it was single server. I personally don’t expect DBL to be either dead or easily defended, especially on the severly lopsided matches.

Nothing is easily defended on severely loopsided matchups unless you’re on the winning server. That’s a universal truth.

Now Anet went the wrong way again. Community told that population imbalance and scoring (especcialy nigthcapping) are core issues that should be addressed as soon as possible, but Anet went to "do you want cosmetic updates?

I don’t know about you, but I voted on scoring issues with the understanding that it would take several months of development time, especially the big part about skirmishes time-sliced activity levels. And some of the low-hanging fruit that we voted on has already been implemented such as reducing the tick timer and adding points for capture. That’s in addition to other changes like PPK, changing the rally mechanic and double-downed state, reward tracks, etc. And don’t forget that the whole idea behind server links was a “do it now” attempt to help out with population issues.

No Chaba… People think that changing an entire scoring system can be done overnight. Don’t you see how constantly threads in this forum pops crying about how unfair the scoring is and how “arena net promissed to change it but did nothing”?

If they made a future water map it would be assigned what color?

The next expansion is around primodius the earth/fire dragon. Maps are likely to be about caves and volcanos. DBL was developed when they were working with Maguuma Wastes (Drytop and Silverwastes). What color you think a fiery badland map would be in?

We can keep going all you want. but while a 3rd map don’t come unto play I won’t change my argument.

And btw, when EotM first came out, Blue was Badlands, Green was Frostreach and Red was Overgrowth.

Just a random question: Why the red map?

1. DBL is easier to defend.
2. Some folks hate DBL, which means less traffic and therefore a small boost in ppt for the lowest ranked server.

Jayne, it’s a “match color to map theme” thing… Has nothing to do with what you stated.

Honestly, I think it’s more like to make it symmetrical. The two different maps in the middle (DBL and EBG) and the two of the same on the sides.

It has nothing to do with symmetry…

Until a 3rd map take the green or blue spot, my point still stand my friend.

Was referring to the endure pain and Signet of Stone comment, but all of the other invulns, which are most form, obsidian flesh (allows you to still attack, and do everything else), distortion (which allows you to attack and do everything else as well it can be shared), elixir s, and renewed focus are all real invulns

Elixir S and Renewed Focus also don’t allow you to do anything other than move for the duration. Endure Pain and Signet of Stone users can still be affected by conditions and CC. Any of the Invulnerable effects don’t make you invulnerable to conditons that are already applied (Distortion also do not stun break you).

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know that the mixed borderlands will be coming with Tuesday’s release! This means that the red borderlands will now always be the Desert Borderlands and blue and green borderlands will always be the Alpine Borderlands. Changing the map will require an estimated 45-90 minutes of WvW downtime around the time of the release. This change also requires us to end the match early (on the Tuesday before the release), and run a new match from Tuesday to Friday. As a reminder, that Friday is also when new world links will be happening.

It better include the jumping buff, as well as all other original (sans the mid event, that was horrid and you were correct to remove it) mechanics so we can take monuments again instead of pretending to.

There problably still the gimmicks that the shrines added around the keeps like:
- Jump pads, knockback turrets and 0 fall dmg buff around air keep;
- Fire Spitting turrets, Lava Pool shortcuts and lava walking around Fire keep;
- Cripping Turrets, Walls and Stealth on Sandstorm around earth keep.
They did removed some jump pads around the furthest border of air keep (like near the south east camp) to remove the ammount of walking people needed to reach the southern part if they didn’t owned air keep or the shrines.

T4 population issue - Next Steps and Timeline

The average gaming player is selfish and cares only about “winning”. He won’t “lose” on purpose to help keep competition. All he want is win at all costs. However, WvW isn’t a MOBA or a FPS where you will see new oponenets after a few minutes. You’re stuck against the same team for a week, maybe for several. Demoralizing the oposition to the point they won’t even play won’t make it fun for anyone.

The best use for sword would be in sword+shield setup with int sigil. You can problably try somenthing like this and adapt it to your own playstyle. You’ll get some really high crit off sword 3.
If you are berserker I’d take out strenght for it. Defense line is a must and Discipline have too many good trait to pass.

My Warrior running full tilt with boons often has near 3500 power, 70% crit chance and 1.8 crit magnitude. In addition to the massive Quickness and Resistance up time along with perma Protection, Regen, Swiftness. That is running solo… it gets WAY better near other boon buff builds.

These stats sound too weird to come from you alone that I honestly find hard to belive it. Care to share it?

Cost of Upgrades

I belive packed dolyaks were removed from base upgrades because structural upgrades no longer burn through the structure supply depot. The packed dolyaks were meant to supply high cost upgrades like fortify or waypoint who would burn 1500-2000 supplies.

A PvEer's Perspective on WvW

If you want to generate more PvE interest in WvW…

Why would you want PvE interest in WvW, sure there will be a small percentage who actually find they enjoy WvW, but on the whole PvE players are just kitten.

Because WvW need people to survive? Just look at how it is now. We’re down from 24 server to 12 and we have 2 that are very empty.

Updated Desert BL?

Thanks for all the replies, they have been (mostly) helpful although it would be nice to get an Anet response before the map actually launches. I’m surprised that this info wasn’t covered in the other post announcing the return of the Desert BL on Tuesday – it should have been.

The WP thing was covered in the april patch that reword DBL. I don’t think they needed to go over somenthing that they already had done (and stated). Honestly, the only doubt that remain is bloodlust. Everything else is just a minor issue.

In T3, the only maps that are ever queued are EBG (95% of queues) and maybe the perceived weakest server (CD at the moment, SoS if CD isn’t in play). If the perceived weakest server gets desert, you’ll see people there.

Unlikely… Maybe people looking to k-train. But all the DBL haters will avoid it at all costs.

Jack up the cost of transfers

The only way to stop bandwagoning is for ANet to stop profiting off of server transfers. At this point and time with the state of WvW and sPvP I don’t see it advantageous of ANet doing that. So the standard of bandwagoning will continue.

The problem is: these guilds don’t give profit to Anet as most of the time they convert gold to gems, or are paid gold from some server warchest. The only profit Anet get is from unhappy desperate players that aren’t affiliated to a WvW guild who dig their pockets to transfer up. Honestly, the only time I bought gems for a transfer I ended up using to buy Phoenix Armor skin…

The DBL will be the cause.

People still think DBL is a problem? You’ll still have 2 ABL there and I bet my left arm there will be several servers holding the outnumbered buff in these maps.

They might not be the nail in the coffin, but they sure are like salt in the wound…they certainly won’t ‘help’ the situation.

I’m sorry that nobody ever came with a convincing argument about why the map is bad. For me, there is too much unjustified hate directed to DBL. It was terrible prior the april changes, sure. But it was much more enjoyable after these changes that I felt a shame that they threw back that 4 year old BL map in the game.
