Such un-interesting poll. Can’t you people there at Anet decided these things for yourself? Ask us for grand directions, not some server mixing micromanagement schedule.
Nobody is twisting your arm to vote. I for one appreciate the communication, thanks Gaile.
LGN
It sounds like what you enjoyed was the karma train, and you assume just because there isn’t a tag on every map there is no activity. Go out and try to cap stuff and see how quickly you find activity. Of course it looks dead if you are just sitting in spawn holding on to your 15 supply.
Pro tip, you can buy your own siege and build it, you don’t need a tag to do it
It really kills me that you are actually running into enemy players and not picking a fight…. .
LGN
What server experiences good roaming fights???
What time of day do you play and are you eu or na?
LGN
But I hope you understand me that we do NOT want rangers killing their own team with this skill (imagine reflecting LB #4 back with this – you killed your own team).
That’s not how reflected projectiles work.
The only change I have wanted forever is for it to trigger bleeding on all targets struck per stone. Right now, if I drop something like a bonfire or barrage on 5 targets with sharpening stone on, they will all receive 1 stack of bleeding.
If I were to super buff it:
- Bleeding on all targets struck per stone
- 3sec unblockable attacks
- +7% dmg per stone remaining
Makes it useful for power/condi/hybrid players without absolutely needing to take the trait.
Similar thoughts
Adding unblockable to next 10 seconds (SoM is 6s with 25s base cooldown) as well would put it where it should be and/or add 5x per vulnerability per stack as well (fair balance to add both if you compare across SoM passive/active to it). It’s a decent utility but still lacks usability relative to anything but bleed/condi specific builds.
Yeah unblockable is what I want to see added to it. I’d rather have a shorter duration unblockable with a reduced cooldown though. About 30 sec cooldown feels right for the skill. This means you could guarantee bursts more often and apply the extra bleeds more often.

….. I have bit my tongue until now but it’s getting pretty old seeing you spam your site on every forum.
Just post your build. If you don’t even play ranger in wvw don’t bother commenting at all.It isn’t spam when its relevant. I have a ranger build that I run when I roam on my ranger, which is seldom, I’ll give you that. But I have played it several times and won several fights on it even though I feel that it is the worst WvW class.
To save myself from typing the same things over and over, I link my page. I’m sharing builds, you don’t have to visit the page if you don’t want to.
You could just as easily link the build directly, all you are doing is trying to drum up traffic for your twitch stream.
And if you think ranger is the worst class for wvw you really aren’t offering anything relevant to the conversation.
LGN
My old computer had 50+ bookmarks for different builds on the build editor site.
I do miss having them all in game gw1 style. I would spend hours just experimenting with different build ideas. I never do that in gw2 because so much of the builds are dependant on gear and runes, and most of the new stuff can only be aquired by grinding pve.
LGN
My gear choices were different but I was running pretty much the same build right up until the latest round of pet nerfs.
You can pretty much laugh off condi builds but it’s pretty tough to kill anything that has some sustain. Don’t even bother with most warriors.
The only thing I would consider changing would be swapping shared anguish for refined toxins. Being able to cut down on their healing really helps when you can’t burst them down.
LGN
They won’t make a new BL for a long time if they scrap dbl.
They told you this personally or are you just fear mongering?
I just came back from the future. Oh and I can see the friction between the player base and anet. The polling is obviously a pr move to alleviate it. Makes little sense to increase it with another map when people are clearly not comfortable with change.
People are fine with change…. as long as the change isn’t complete garbage.
For example, people were very happy with hardened gates stopping blobs from PvD’ing. People weren’t happy when they reverted it so that players could once again damage gates.
One was a good change, the other was kittening stupid and makes no sense.
The last changes they did to the dbl before removing it were overwhelmingly supported, however they weren’t nearly enough to make the map playable in WvW.
A new map without a bunch of PvE gimmicks that encouraged fighting would be welcomed by the majority of the community, and it makes a lot more sense at this point to start fresh rather than redesigning the dbl over and over until it’s basically a completely different map anyway. 3 of the biggest complaints about it are the terrain, keep/tower designs and objective locations. Addressing those complaints means completely redesigning the map.
LGN
Roaming ok in NA. The little cowards that run is boring though, which is 90% of engagements but for the most part, it’s ok.
Sounds like you need more mobility in your build. Roaming isn’t dueling, you need to be able to chase them down.
LGN
$$$$$ for Anet.
It is about 160g to xfer to a medium. If a player runs in a BG zerg, they can easily crank that back relatively quickly. Why spend the cash?
kitten the gold gem transfer cost has really jumped up in the past few months. It was right around 100g the last time I moved accounts around.
LGN
Roaming is good in NA, especially during eu hours. Some servers get a bit blobby during NA prime but most are still good.
In T2 through T4 I find plenty of solo roamers and groups of 2 or 3. I mostly stick to the bl’s though.
LGN
http://asphyxia.tv/wvw-roaming-ranger-build/
That my WvW ranger build above, however I don’t recommend running ranger in WvW to begin with. Every class is better at WvW than ranger for larger group play. Ranger lacks the AOE damage to matter in WvW and we don’t need a dedicated healer which is most of what druid brings to the table for group play. I’d recommend literally any other class, but you’re really best off playing something like Necromancer or Elementalist.

Decided to mess around with condi roaming builds and came up with this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNAW3fjEqQ7K2tCusAVLWMEM4s6YNtyEAGdNgmOQqrFUyKSD-T1SAABrv/Q0HBAKuAAtpEEJ1fUUzwYKZU4gA8lyJAeAA/pDIAACwO3ZysMDszduzduzdWKA7WDA-w
It has a good amount of cc, condi clear and mobility. The staff will actually keep up a fair amount of bleeds and if you are fighting 1vX the traps make it pretty kitten ed tough for them to rez.
In the past couple days I’ve won a number of 1v3’s and escaped a lot of bad situations.
I’ve been tempted to try it out with my viper set instead of dire but I really didn’t feel like crafting/spending the gold on another set of trapper runes.
LGN
ummm…. dire doesn’t have precision or expertise….. so yeah, not max dps. Not even max dps for a pure condi build.
I had to double check the date on this thread to make sure somebody didn’t necro one from 2015. Are you sure you didn’t mean to kitten about trailblazer or maybe even viper?
LGN

From the PoV of someone that’s regularly matched up against SoS, I have to agree with what SpellOfIniquity said.
Zerging pretty much seems to be your alls go to strategy and when you start running into equal numbers and losing fights your people log off pretty quick. By the time NA prime hits you all end up fielding less numbers but the bulk of your server still runs in 1 group which doesn’t stand much of a chance at that point.
Your night crew is even stranger. I just logged off (played hooky from work lol) and I must have run into at least 8 different people on your home bl that myself and another roamer kept killing in groups of 2 or 3. After 1 fight with each group they wouldn’t face us again. We sat at north camp for 5 minutes hoping for a fight while you all sat there peeking out from behind the gate.
I know your night crew is a bit more PPT focused than most but on every server I’ve been on if we had all the defenders hiding from 2 roamers and just backcapping, there would be people raging in chat about how we needed to fight and then ragequitting since no one would.
I suggest working on getting some small havoc groups going so we have more to worry about than your 1 blob. The only ones I really ever run into are from GoM and you all won’t be linked with them forever.
LGN
Instant 20+ confusion now ticking damage regardless you use a skill, or not. Yeah this rune can go already.
The problem is with the passive tick they added for PvE. They just need to quit kittening around and balance the game modes separately.
….and yeah, dire isn’t really that big a deal anymore. The HoT power creep brought skills that make dire armor feel like zerker used to and they introduced new stats like trailblazer which is simply better dire armor.
LGN
I’m just going to copy paste what I posted in the other thread since I don’t know the gw2 pve maps well enough to suggest any and the only thing I would really love to see brought over from gw1 would be fort aspenwood as a pvp game mode.
I really don’t like the jungle suggestion people keep making. Sounds way too closed in.
Maybe something like a tropical island instead with some(not overkill) jungle, mountains and caves in the middle of the map, and real shallow water (that you can run through) and small connecting islands around the outside.
You could throw in beach shacks and shipwrecked boats for LoS obstacles, and at least one of the keeps would need to be a pirate fortress made from old ship parts. The mountain and jungle in the center could hold the shrines that offer buffs (nothing ridiculous like the dbl gimmicks) and provide the type of terrain you could hide from zergs in, but it would be slower to cut across the map because the paths aren’t as direct. I don’t mean make it ridiculously convoluted like the dbl was where you had to travel a mile to the left to make a right turn. I’m thinking more like the ruins which provide enough twists and turns to make a zerg lose interest but you can still move in a relatively straight line without hitting dead ends.
You could use the caves as short cuts to cross under the center of the map to get to objectives quicker. Make most of it above the water line but maybe include a few underwater passages with a current that moves you along at +33-50% speed (depending on size of the map).
LGN
They can add as many sky hammers and Dino bullkitten as you’d like as long as they never bring the map back to wvw. I’m sure pve players would love having some stupid gimmicky map added to the silver wastes area, or they can rotate it with eotm.
Just keep that stupidity out of WvW.

Alpine BLs might have there flaws here and there, but they are miles better than the deserted borderlands where you barely found enemies to fight except for an occasional karma training zerg. As a roamer the alpine borderlands are way more fun, because you get more frequent fights and camps are actually fought for and not just flipped back and forth. Most people who want DBL back are probably disappointed karma trainers who have to fight for their caps for the first time in a while.
Desert way better, more incentive for the enemy to cap stuff and for the defenders to defend, in Alpine u not even gonna bother trying to cap t3 hill or bay beaquse the defenders get there so quick and its so easy to defend. When theres no blob fight on alpine its a dead map. In desert map u could havoc and cap stuff with small groups but in Alpine you cant. Bad map is bad. #bringbacksand #makewvwgreatagain

Similar to a shortbow build I was running. You think sharpening stone is worth it over quickening zephyr? Seems to me like the utility of the skill wins out over the 1 or 2 extra bleeds sharpening stone might give.
QZ is something to be saved for when you are CCed, in principle.
I like Sharpening Stone because I can use it freely for dmg or save it for condition removal and then dmg. Also when I first started running “condi longbow” my goal was to put as much conditions on my 2k range rapid fire, something QZ doesn’t really do.
Ive actually been running SS/QZ/LR lately instead of spike trap. I just got sick of spike trap failing wayyyyy too often. Its a hilarious skill, a strong skill when it lands, but its recharge is too steep for its % failure.
I just can’t stand the cool down on spike trap, especially when compared to dh traps.
I’m a big fan of QZ in wvw. On my shortbow build it means more bleeds, condi removal, stun break, and that super speed has saved my kitten more times than I can count. It’s really great when you pop it under water and leave some salty zerg in the dust.

Condi builds have always been pretty common while roaming but lately it sends everyone i fight is running condi so I’ve been running shouts/trooper runes with empathic bond. It’s kitten near unkillable vs condi builds (I run druid though so I do have that extra cleanse).
LGN
What are you usually dying to? Power, condi, getting zerged down?
LGN
Quality of Life improvements did not win the vote, so we have no immediate plans to work on something like this. Also, while it might not seem like it, this problem is non-trivial to solve cleanly.
To be fair, QoL lost because with a couple of exceptions the proposed changes were pretty bad. Adding more visual clutter like sparkle trails and floating whatever isn’t QoL, it’s the same thing people are complaining about in this thread.
You really need to create an official thread where people give you their top 5 or 10 QoL ideas and then after reading through it you all come back with the ones you think you can get done.
But kudos on responding to this thread. Even if the response is “we can’t work on that right now” it’s a lot better than hearing nothing. Hopefully this is something you can take care of after scoring.
However if the complicated part of fixing this is coming up with the on/off option, but you can easily just shut it off, you should probably consider turning it off and then bringing it back when you have time to implement it the right way. Most veteran players are already keeping an eye on the PPT and the map anyway and know when something is lost or capped without a big message spoon feeding them the info.
LGN
Funny how people call abl boring and old and a reason to why wvw was dying, yet ebg is just as old, and it still carries a queue every night.
Honest question, why do you queue EBG. To me its the equal footing. What’s your number one? This will help ANet when designing new maps.
I haven’t been back on ebg since they returned the alpine map.
I much prefer attacking enemy bl’s, they seem to take it so much more personally.
LGN
Yeah I’ve never understood the argument that “the map is boring”. That’s like saying a chess board or soccer field is boring.
Man… No truer words ever spoken. That was an excellent way to word that.
Well if you want to be like that, go back to playing Pong!
This isnt chess or football. This is a video game!
Yes but it’s a player vs player video game. The challenge comes from your opponents. The map is just the playing field.
A common complaint from the people crying that the dbl was removed is that they can’t cap anything without running into players. That is a ridiculous complaint to make about a pvp game mode.
If people only like the map because it allowed them to explore and fight npc’s then they need to just drop the argument because they have the rest of the game to do that in.
LGN
I find it hilarious that so many are advocating ‘nerf’ to night capping… You do realize any slight towards ocx/sea/eu players will make some people play less? That is exactly what gw2 needs right now.. less players /s
^ This. Don’t make prime time worth more.
Also please don’t do this “Last Stand” idea. The “Last Stand” makes one day matter too much in the match, every day should be worth the same.
It’s worth trying out before outright dismissing the idea. Fridays are completely dead until reset, this could be interesting.
LGN
your solution for ‘nightcapping’ (I’m one of the guys who doesn’t see this as a issue) as a giant flaw that I can see just by looking at it. how will it decided active levels could we just have a bunch of players afk at spawn to keep the multiplier at x3, also just by suggesting this change you are alienating players that play during that time cause most people I know that play then don’t do it because “oh I’m going to be super hardcore and make sure our team wins” its that they are ocx players and that’s just when they get off work. night capping imo is a problem that anet shouldn’t be trying to fix because it will only chase people away
I work nights so my normal play hours are outside of prime. I don’t feel alienated at all.
As much as people like to make the argument “this is a 24 hour war” (which is extremely annoying to those of us that have actually been to war), this is just a game. The score shouldn’t be so heavily influenced by the smallest group of players.
If fixing this keeps the game more competitive throughout the week, and keeps people playing more, then I have no problem with my contribution to the score being smaller than prime times.
LGN
- This is the Action Level – Victory Point Multiplier system
- This system would multiply the Victory Points awarded by Skirmishes based on map populations and time of day.
- During prime time hours, the multiplier would always be at it’s maximum of 3.
- During off hours, the multiplier might stay at 3 or drop to 2 or 1, depending on on activity level.
- It’s important to include map populations as a factor, to make the system more fair for off hours players and its important to include time-of-day as a factor to prevent a winning team from trying to keep the score muliplier low by exiting WvW
Can you please give more details on the above. How do you determine primetime vs non prime time for different servers? Some servers are stacked in NA so that’s their ‘primetime’ while other servers have more people in SEA/OCX/EU so that’s their prime time. How will you figure out what is primetime for different servers?
Probably based on the servers location. NA servers prime time will be during NA prime…… which makes sense.
LGN
I’d like more details on this “skirmishing” idea. As a person who does not play Blob Wars, I roam with a small group and hope to still be effective.
Hell if they make kills worth 5 points a piece I could pretty much cap nothing and still bring in more points than I currently do.
A camp is worth 5 points, the 2 people I have to kill to cap a camp is 10, the bags that keep coming back to try and get the camp are worth even more.
LGN
Sounds interesting. Glad to hear PPK is going to play a bigger role.
LGN
I really like the idea of yaks stealing supply. Towers and keeps are nearly always full now that upgrades aren’t supply dependent, this would help balance that.
LGN
The object of a large scale PvP mode in a Massively multiplayer game is to have massive amounts of people playing it with you and against you. You should EXPECT everything to be defended. You should EXPECT to be outnumbered. You should EXPECT to have to avoid the blob
Spoken like a zerger. Devil you just provided why you don’t get it. Not everyone likes to be zergling #178987662 but instead like to make a difference. Small maps favor the zergling versus the organized force and/or the havoc or roamer. None stop is not the same as he who has bigger force wins. Massively means you have to choose where to fight not who has the biggest zerg wins. Stop taking 50 to take a camp already, you need 1. We need maps where the right force at the right time make sense. Stop K-Training already. Give us maps where there are fights, but not just he who zergs wins. We lost peeps before because we needed new maps, we are back there even if we gain old peeps that were not sticking around post HoT, which may still notbe HoT.
Did you actually read what devil wrote?
He wasn’t saying you have to zerg things down, he was taking about having map awareness.
If you see somethings being hit, can be by your server or the third, you move to the other side of the map and start hitting something else.
This means if the enemy is blobbing they are going to lose something.
This is what I do every day on alpine. It ends up leading to a lot of capped towers and a lot of small scale fights.
LGN
Wait wait wait wait wait…
You’re complaining that people are defending objectives on the map? That you’re getting fights?
I have nothing against Fights, I am primarily PVPer. A “Fight” in which the defender has the support of 10 NPCs and various buffs is none. But the majority of PVE Blober sees this of course different. The roll over individual Roamer completely without any skill.
If the defender is afraid to come out of the camp to fight a 1v1 that usually means he is going to be a free bag, even with the npc’s.
And drop the elitist pvp attitude. PvP is all about bunkering and holding points until your team rotates, especially in the current meta. I have run across PvP tournament players that decided to solo queue and I handed them their kitten in fights and I have run across WvW duelists that kicked my kitten .
Some builds completely counter other, the game isn’t balanced around 1v1’s. PvP’ers aren’t better fighters than WvW’ers, you just run into more scrubs while fighting in WvW because you are matched up against another server instead of waiting in queue to fight people closer to your experience level. If you hop into PvP on an alt account you will experience the same thing.
LGN
Anet said in the ask-me-anything on reddit that they planned to rotate the BLs every three months.
and that’s a really stupid decision.
Even if the impossible happens and they manage to fix the map so much that it is finally functional, a quarterly rotation is still way too long.
If they can’t do a weekly rotation then they need to quarterly rotate that crappy map with their other crappy map in eotm and leave WvW alone until they design a map that isn’t completely broken for WvW.
For the most part it looks like the people running things now have a much better head on their shoulders than the previous crew so hopefully they won’t stick to that terrible plan.
LGN
Yeah I’ve never understood the argument that “the map is boring”. That’s like saying a chess board or soccer field is boring. The map serves a purpose, it works. You can have boring opponents but that’s not the maps fault. The dbl doesn’t work for the game mode, that was the problem.
LGN
With those pets I’d probably go zephyr’s speed over beastly warden. I’d swap sick em to guard ( unless you are running into a bunch of mesmers) and I don’t really understand your choice of gear and food. Why all the condi duration? Other than that it looks pretty good.
LGN
- Megaserver tech has the potential to ensure populations are good at all times and reduces the queue times by opening new map instances when needed.
How do you expect that to work? What happens when people bandwagon onto one alliance/faction? You’ll end up with that side getting extra maps that they fully control because there is no opposition.
What happens when it’s the middle of the night and the population drops off? Do they start forcing people to leave instances so they can shut down the extras? What happens to the gold spent on guild upgrades for the structures on those instances?
LGN
Might as well take the week off if you roll red huh?
LGN
Merge the lowest servers with some medium population servers would do the smallest harm. What are the opinions of those players who will play on very low ranking servers, like Blacktide or Underworld?
The queues have been long gone. Even on EU tier 1 it is pretty empty. Desolation rarely has queue to any map and there is always 3/4 of maps without queue. Outside prime time you can maybe see 10-20 of us in EB plus similar amount of enemies and few players on all the borders.
There is no point in merging servers until they sort out all the bull kitten they introduced with HoT.
Merging servers without fixing the problems will just drive more people from the game.
LGN
If i were to participate in a poll, i’d like it to have more than 1 option reworded three times.

@msalakka.4653, people got mad because need more effort and organization to get with golems to their distiny, and k-train in new bl takes longer, nothing more….
So small groups can’t be organized? In your mind being organized means running with the blob?
did i say that??…. read it again please,
btw if i recall chrono get time reduced in portal CD, that even helps porting up the golems to destiny, still wondering why people want traveler runes….
Because some small 2-5 man groups don’t want to run all mesmer parties….
Every character I have has a set of armor in their inventory with speed runes because I spent my game time harassing enemy bl’s by solo/small group roaming. Golems weren’t my go to strategy but I liked having them as an option, especially if I was flipping back my own bl in the early morning.
Now you basically need to zerg to use them. You can’t move them around quickly without a zerg. You can’t take direct paths to get anywhere because of the kitten map design. You need a group to constantly kill guards since T3 gates take so long for small groups.
This is just another example of how anet has ruined WvW for roamers and are pushing people to blob.
LGN

We’d like to thank everyone for their feedback so far. Leagues are a complicated system and we’ll be iterating on it until we get it right.
“But kitten WvW, we aren’t even going to post there.”
The pvp league is more critical than wvw, how could they ignore players leeching easy rank farm?
It is perfectly understandable, besides WvW problems take far more time to fix, Anet would make the worng move if their didnt fix the pvp ladder first.
The wvw problem also lies in its player base that want thing delivered and made easy, as easy solable towers in few minutes like we had in the hold empty bl, this mixed with some wrong WvW mechanics in the new bl …… so it is a bit(much more) tricky to make it pleasent for everyone.
More critical to whom?
WvW has far more people playing than their failed e-sport, or at least it did until they killed it, who knows now.
It doesn’t matter which is easier to fix, the fact is they are very clearly actively working on PvP and communicating with its player base. All we are getting is absolute kitten changes and vague rumors on reddit.
LGN
I haven’t even logged onto the game for over a week now. I’m at the point where I’m checking the forum every couple days to see if they’ve come to their senses and reverted these kitten changes yet.
