Hoping A-net would add the new HOT druid pets into WvW in some manner.

Perhaps they could be purchasable from the vendor if you own a HOT account or something similar??

I purchased HOT, but really don’t enjoy PvE – i only bought it for the new class and elite specs. #sadface

I had guildies wp to the pets and then used the teleport to a friend things that they gave out in the birthday gifts.

But yeah, having the pets automatically available or purchasable would be awesome. Ranger is the only class that makes you perform a pve scavenger hunt to have access to all of your skills.

Problem with roaming Druid

Yes, I’ve fought that YB Druid far too many times now. I would have won a 1v with him just a couple nights ago if not for his thief friend showing up at the end. <shakes fist>

The Dev’s must be made aware of builds like this Druid that are over tuned. Crossing fingers we get a proper balance patch this time.

So you were winning the 1v1 but somehow the druid is overtuned because….. it didn’t insta die?
Heaven forbid rangers can put up a fight amiright? Get those kitteners back to the bottom of the barrel where they belong.

Thief, ranger, and war are the top 3.
You can escape anything you can’t kill.

Problem with roaming Druid

In my experience druids either build to be so glassy they fall easily when you focus them or they build to be so tanky and evasive that you only need to focus their pet to make them wimp out of the fight.

Yup, no one ever bothers focusing the pet on those tanky druids. Take out their pets and they don’t have the damage to kill you. They also have a harder time building their astral force since they no longer have the constant regen on their pet.

Druids other huge weakness is they don’t have an instant source of stability. SotP pulses stab but it takes a full second to cast. If you play smart you can chain cc and burst them down.

Yeah what the kitten is up with this? I haven’t been able to run high graphics since the 64 bit client patch came out. Fix your kitten game anet.

Same. I went back to the 32bit client and it cleared that right up.

Interesting my fps isn’t low but its lower than it should be maybe I will try the 32 bit client.

I immediately did that and it helped a bit but it was still way worse than it was before that patch came out.

Outnumbered shouldn’t affect stats. It should affect all the passive scouting mechanics and “I win” tactics.

That’s not really an achievement. Every schmuck can die on siege. Instead, the should be a title for getting killed by a siege ram attack. Let’s call it… “Hold the door”.

I’ve never seen Mag get demoralized when it rolls into T2. Most people are pretty kitten ed happy to fight someone different. And even though we can’t win the coverage war in T2 we still keep up a way better kdr.

Why u ever gave them 3 stacks ill never know. A single tower can have upto 4 mortars firing within it, ive been in fights within a tower for extended periods and the whole time had no less than 15 stacks of burning on me while moving around the whole tower. rev uses pain absorption and gets 80odd stacks of burning. do u rly think this was a wise move on your part, anet? Yeah add the red ring effect, its needed and been something spoke about since day one anyway but srsly you need to drop the stacks back down, its rkitten. that and now you release poll for siege hammers @ a time when you know a load of siege hungry newbies are playing, trying to get there gift of battle. i sware you guys either know what youre trying to do and dont like the style of play that a lot of players enjoy or you just dont have a kitten clue whats enjoyable in WvW. Revert mortar stacks to singles. TY.

Mortars are extremely balanced at the moment. They are slow to turn, have pretty big areas that they can’t hit (with the exception of concussion barrage on a 20 sec cooldown), but are actually useful when they do hit.
If you could flat out ignore mortars they would be pointless.

If you die to a mortar you are bad and you should feel bad. Outside of a tower all you have to do is move, they can’t chase you. Inside a tower you need to start using your brain and clearing siege as soon as you break in.

It takes about 10 kittening minutes to turn the mortar, it’s not like it’s hard to move out of the fire.
If you are fighting in a tower kill the players on the mortar and destroy it.
And why would you cleanse the first stack without moving out of the fire?

My main complaint is that I have to work 10 times as hard as someone on a condi build. And to the above poster sure I can avoid fighting them I’ll just stand at spawn and not fight anyone lol… I can get on my condi mes or warrior and completely face roll to the point where I’m crying out of boredom.

That’s how I feel on all the perma boon, passive sustain power builds.

Yesterday I spent 10 minutes fighting an engi before getting bored and leaving. It’s like HoT turned every class into the old school cele ele. It used to be 10 minute fights when roaming were pretty thrilling, but now it’s just people running through rotations until someone screws up.

I’ve been running into a lot more tanky power builds than condi. You have warriors, engi’s, ele’s, etc. that have ridiculous sustain but can still burst the hell out of you.

Sorry Jim… but without some sort of actual reward for winning.. who really cares? At this point WvW is really just about the fights and hopefully having fun having the fights… The points? They are really worth nothing.. they benefit nobody, the winner gets nothing except some sort of bragging rights.. meh..

And are you having fun with the same constant stale match ups?
I’m not suggesting this because I care about winning or losing, I’m suggesting it because having variety keeps people interested. One of the reasons I keep my main account on mag is because it occasionally rolls into T2. We have no chance of winning the coverage war there but those weeks are always fun.

If it was a winner up system the quad server would have moved up to T3 by now to replace SoS or SbI and T3 and T4 would have had a much more entertaining week.

I honestly think one of the biggest problems with the server linkings is that we are still using the kittenty glicko system.

We need to try out the “winner up, loser down” system again. I know it was used during a tournament but wvw is in a very different state now.
There are only 4 tiers now and the match ups will be manually changed every 2 months. Having a fresh match up every week will keep a lot more people interested in playing. Plus you won’t see a total kitten show for 2 months straight because of a glicko wall (current T4 situation)

Besides that, they need to give the paired servers an identity and a way to grow. People are abandoning them because they’re tired of being treated like second class citizens.

Ye I want them back as well, as a PvP player, also it helps me telling who actually got to know the new meta and who didnt, how to sort out the squad etc, no-name people with amber and no badge and non-wvw-guild tag go to their own parties.

I dont understand this qq about enemy focusing you because the badge? Did you see the enemy badges in NA or something because in EU you cant see enemy badges.

The SPvP meta is rarely the same as the roaming meta and almost never the same as zerg/GvG.
The only thing I really noticed when the badges were showing was those were usually the kitteners that were going to send me salty whispers when they died.

So many of then would cry that it was unfair that I would kite around the entire fight instead of staying in melee range to die. They would call me cheesy or blame “broken wvw stats” when the reality was they were so used to fighting on a tiny point they couldn’t adapt to wvw roaming fights.

And just like now? Where a lot of the adherents of the DBL have stepped back and are not playing.

I don’t know how true that statement is in general, however, I can tell you straight that after playing 3 years and then some on on the alpine map I have no desire to zone into it again in the foreseeable future. When it came back I went in there for like 10 minutes and decided to call it quits.

People complain about DBL terrain but ABL is not perfect in that regard either, the kittening cliffs are completely pointless (the only difference is that the route to traverse them quickly is so well known that people don’t even register them until someone fears them to their death when their skills are on cooldown).

No the difference is there are very few spots where you hit a cliff that is a dead end. Every cliffside in alpine has spots where you can drop down on ledges and make your way to the ground. They are still very dangerous to use in combat but they are way better than all the dead ends you hit in the dbl.

Your not wrong, it will definitely be imbalanced, but having shared bl’s is the lesser of 2 evils.
Anet is unwilling to do a weekly rotation and having 3 months of only the dbl will kill the game. People will quit playing during those times and less will return each time.
People could have voted to get rid of it completely but it was heavily implied that if we voted to destroy it they wouldn’t make any new maps.

This leaves us with the choice of playing a broken game mode and enjoying it while it slowly dies or giving it a quick death by voting for rotation.

People, like refered above, qq for reason. I see how thieves take down in split second while players cannot even dodge (daze?). I see how 5+ man blob chases 1 thief for minutes.

At least, I want longer fights because I want learn to play – nothing to learn if I just have to use wp and run back. I don’t want waste playtime for chasing thieves or mesmers.

The game is rated 12+. Is WvW good place for a child to play? Specially if adults qq that much. Or if our skilled adult players go down in two seconds. For children (and for average adult players), should WvW have “easy” play mode – e.g., more built-in toughness/vitality, reduced interrupt cooldowns, etc – for example.

Yeah! kitten thieves intruding on our “safe spaces”….

Turning them into white mobs allows players to use them for stealth, teleports, etc. but means a smart player can shut you down by 1 shoting the npc’s.

So the smart player is shooting NPC’s while the enemy is shooting him? LOL

I’m happy they took away rally mechanic, they don’t really bother me unless it’s the oakhearts during duels.

I’m gonna be selfish and say don’t take the rest of the mobs away, I kind of need them for my Rev, Guard and Thief teleports and also to build life force for my Necro lol… I also believe Rangers can acquire pets through WvW still? I haven’t played ranger since they unnecessarily added stealth to longbow.

And rangers can’t just train every random npc they come across, they can only train juvenile (green)mobs, which you can’t attack.

If I’m on my ranger and I see a thief coming of course I will engage him first. If the thief is off hand dagger I’ll kill every white mob in the area the first time he stealths ( or depending on my weapon set, cleave them down while fighting him) so he doesn’t have a free C&D target.

It just takes too much time when you are already engaged in a fight. If they were white mobs that would be the first thing I did the second I lost track of the thief. Not to mention I would actively be trying to position myself so I was hitting them while fighting the thief, as opposed to trying to avoid hitting the current npc’s because I don’t need all the extra bodies in the way.

i can’t see how this build would work… Could you share how you manage?

Which part are you unclear on? It’s a really strong build in 1v1’s because you can manage condi’s with the shouts/druidic clarity. Even though it is zerk you can handle most direct damage with protective ward, a really good amount of protection, taunt, blocks, evades, interrupts, guard, and stealth. And with sword, GS, stealth, and celestial shadow it is pretty good at escaping.

It just doesn’t work well against multiple opponents because they can overwhelm your condi clear, or stun lock you after you’ve blown your 2 stun breaks. Or simply stay spread out and range you down.

This build works if you are very selective about who you engage. My problem is I get bored easily and leeroy jenkins into groups of 5+ players all the time.

This is build wars, there really isn’t a “best build”. If there was a perfect ranger build it would be insta nerfed.

This is my Power Ranger build I use for roaming/pvp. Enjoy killing everything with ease.

I’ve run full melee. It does good in 1v1’s, but not so great in outnumbered fights, especially after the last nerf to pets.
When I said “there isn’t a best ranger roaming build” I’m not talking about dueling. Roaming involves harassing zergs, being able to solo camps/towers/keeps, while fighting off enemy players, escaping bad situations, winning 1vX’s, chasing down players trying to reset, etc.

Honestly I’ve got a number of builds where I won’t ever die unless I get bored and overcommit. They will kill almost anything in a 1v1, and if something has too much sustain for me to put down I have the mobility to escape and move on. But none of them are perfect for every situation you will come across while roaming.

So the PvE mobs cause me to be unable to catch my opponents that are running from me unless I also have one of those teleport skills to use on my target which is my enemy lol.

Using ones environment to their advantage is good play IMO. If removing environmental variables is important, might as well eliminate the terrain advantage as well.

That’s why I argued they should be changed to white mobs. They can still be used but if you are familiar with your opponent and know that he frequently uses npc’s to make his escape you can counter that without having to waste time or burst skills to clear the playing field.

A/T-S/D – condi build, most of the time it will be A/D-S/T but some ppl use the other setup. Most damage coming from condi nukes with torch.

Probably a noob question, but why would you go A/D-S/T?

I play a lot of the meta Staff-S/D bunker in sPvP so I know the benefits of that pairing, but I can’t seem to wrap my head around on that setup over A/T-S/D.

so you have evades on both weapon sets.
I always ran the opposite when roaming in WvW since you aren’t trying to contest a small point and you can do hit and run attacks.

As a necro who needs to build up life force between 1v1s, having them around is a big plus.

You can build life force off white mobs, the only difference is they die quicker.

That is exactly one of the problems with them, lol. It’s just another free get away for Thieves which they already have enough of.

Turning them into white mobs allows players to use them for stealth, teleports, etc. but means a smart player can shut you down by 1 shoting the npc’s.

So the smart player is shooting NPC’s while the enemy is shooting him? LOL

I’m happy they took away rally mechanic, they don’t really bother me unless it’s the oakhearts during duels.

I’m gonna be selfish and say don’t take the rest of the mobs away, I kind of need them for my Rev, Guard and Thief teleports and also to build life force for my Necro lol… I also believe Rangers can acquire pets through WvW still? I haven’t played ranger since they unnecessarily added stealth to longbow.

And rangers can’t just train every random npc they come across, they can only train juvenile (green)mobs, which you can’t attack.

Turning the animals into white mobs wouldn’t prevent you from using them to teleport, in fact they’d be even better for it since they would die in one hit and you’d break combat faster.

Yea I have but you said “a smart player can shut you down by 1 shoting the npc’s.”… I just assumed this said fight would happen randomly and not ontop of a Moa and then by cleaving you would not only kill the mob but you would also be attacking the enemy in by which means it wasn’t smart at all, it was just a coincidence.

I don’t know what enemies you fight, but everytime I see someone trying to hit anything that’s not me I tend to jump at them right away. Seeing a Ranger pewpew a white mob with his longbow is a window for my thief to gank.

How many shots do you think it takes to kill a white mob?
If I’m on my ranger and I see a thief coming of course I will engage him first. If the thief is off hand dagger I’ll kill every white mob in the area the first time he stealths ( or depending on my weapon set, cleave them down while fighting him) so he doesn’t have a free C&D target.

The only problem with buffing ranger dps in any fashion would be its effect on pvp. Since pvp determines the skills for pve, as Anet has lumped them both together now, the pvp community would not stand for rangers getting a dps increase imo. Condi warrior was kicking butt – gutted. Revenant hammer – neutered. The list goes on. So for now, I shall enjoy my Pew Pew in Open World content where no one cares what you are running.

You could make this argument about mesmers who have crappy sustained dps in PvE but high burst damage in PvP. However, rangers have kitten dps in both game modes and are much easier to shut down.

You should be given an option to reset. A reset button would be very helpful to new players. That way players who do not wish to reset , do not have to, yet keeping the game new player friendly and allowing new guys that don’t have their abilities maxed and are not sure where to place them can actually put them where they need and if they make a newbie mistake can start over once they understand what they actually do. A reset button for each character would be really nice.

Often the vets who already have everything maxed take for granted if they want their beloved game mode to grow, you need to keep it a welcoming environment for new players so they can be able to enjoy, learn and help in the game too.

If you could reset it any time you wanted players would basically be more than maxed out at 100ish points. They need to use a ram, do a quick reset and max out ram mastery, need to use a ac, reset and max that out, etc.

They should just reset the points every 2 months when they reset pairings, but this should only be implemented once they have included a “fill all” option.

I am so tired of having to manually fill every line for all of my characters

All animals should be yellow or white, or just gone. I still get tagged a couple times a week by some stupid animal and put in combat.

A polar bear on the north side of hills tagged me a week ago and caused me to be unable to outrun an incoming zerg. Oh man was I salty.

It’s way worse when you are in the middle of a fight and a moa randomly runs up and dazes you.
