My engi gets 350k dmg average and 100k teammate healing and a lot of ally condis removed. That’s just with a little practice and noob allies.
My druid can heal for more, sometimes up to 300k, but outside of that i’m useless. I rarely go over 150k dmg, and my condi clear on allies isn’t amazing. my actual bunking is okay, but I can’t really kill enemies like warriors that I think I should be. What am I doing wrong?
Bowser, a friend of me, do 1 million damage or so a lot of time.
It’s all about always using your pet ability when they have a full stack of might.
This is about 75% of druid damage. So always renew ability after CD and make sure to buff that pet a lot.
See, I think what a lot of you don’t understand is, there is a lot of production that has to be done in order to produce content like HoT. Creating a high quality expansion doesn’t just happen overnight. These guys at Anet have families to take care of, and they gotta get income from somewhere. Well this just happens to be their job, and they get paid to develop this game so they cant just put the content out for free. There has to be some incentive to buy the expansion, otherwise everyone will just be a freeloader and play the game without ever spending a dime. At that point what kind of quality would you expect?
What if the HoT specs were absolute trash, and no one wanted to play them? What would be the justification in purchasing the expansion?
Bottom line is, if you get to a point in the game where you feel you are being edged out in competitive play by people WITH JOBS who were willing to dish the little cash to buy the expansion, maybe you should consider just buying it yourself.
There is no reason someone who invests nothing into a game should get the same amount out of that content, as someone who has invested their hard earned cash. If you like the game, support the game.. Buy the expansion. Then all problems will be solved.
The core skill trees are still used in a multitude of variations in conjunction with the new specializations. So its not like they are totally gone.
The pay for living argument is false.
Polishing the F2P model right now, is more money for Anet through gemstore.
Buy to play still buy to play. Free to play, still free to play.
Both model are in the game right now.
Both model are lucrative.
The implementation of F2P model right now, is considered Pay to Win by most of that Crowd. Anet need to redeem themselves on that front, make a new feature that will help F2P players to access specialization and released that on the MOBA website.
So we can get back the 10’s of thousands new spvp only players that made possible a fantastic MM with 3 sec queue pop.
This thread seriously confuses me. I don’t understand why anyone on F2P thinks they should have the same benefits as anyone who bought the base game and HoT regardless of what game mode that is and if the game is so “beloved” to you, why can’t you spend money actually buying it? The entitlement here is painful.
To say you can’t get anywhere in PvP without HoT specs is also a complete fallacy, because you absolutely can with core builds, but not if you suck as a player.
Well… there is 3 game mode.
Spvp game mode population is really low right now.
F2P in august 2015 is an option for Gw2. It make the spvp population 10x of what it was. When HoT came, it make those F2P leave to other game.
So, F2P is a model of Gw2. SPVP can use that for good.
Let’s evolved the model to make good things for SPVP only.
So since we are in the pvp forum, I understand that you paid 50$ for your PVE or WvW experiences… i am fine with this. But for sPvP, it should not matter that way, because it become buy to win. (unless specialization are sidegrade like they sold this out, but it’s not true and everyone and their mother in the F2P crowd left us behind)
Guys stop bieng stingy. Just buy the game. Come on.
The unspoken law of people who work hard or give up something in return netting greater rewards is something that applies IRL as well.
Ofcourse it’s not black and white. and certain countries espically the westernized have safety nets for those who simply cannot afford, foodbanks, welfare etc. sure. they are there. But even in said progressive countries those living on welfare are not living like a millionaire aren’t they? But it goes further. Those that actually drop down lots of money actually benefit society as a whole.
Sorry but u guys don’t deserve the same benefits as those that payed for the game. Some paying even more since they got the deluxe version or limited edition version.
U can still win with core classed. If U decide to not to pay for the expansion it means that u made the consious descision to play only a part of the game and thus experience only it’s limited benefits and thus u should accept working with these restrictions. And keep in mind that the core game was beforehand still considered an entire full game on it’s own. If anything this is extremely generous.
If U can’t be contend with practically having a full game for free that u don’t even need to pay a monthly fee for, then the problem lies with you guys!!!
Please, you have your Buy to Play options.
Great.
Let people that prefer the F2P option to chose that.
They only need to “polish” the F2P experiences so, Gw2 reputations become better than the Pay to Win or Buy to Win one.
…
Both pips and rating can be used within the system if they are focused on solving specific problems – not all of them.
PIPS to grind rewards.
Rating or Ranking to show prestige.
But don’t forget, Ranking to match similar Ranked together versus similar Ranked together. So, it would like (casual, casual, casual, casual, casual) vs. (casual, casual, casual, casual, casual) or (decent, decent, decent, decent, decent) vs. (decent, decent, decent, decent, decent).
The rating / ranking is just not to show prestige, is to help match-making put people of equal skills together so the matches are more “fair”.
Well, anet can just allow f2p players to be able to play elite specs in spvp only but they won’t be able to play in ranked games.
However, anet can also make the f2p players buy certain items in the gemstore or give these players a kind of currency they can trade in for time to play in ranked.
Your second suggestion would permit our beloved game to get a F2P status without the P2W or B2W reputation that our game have right now.
More… gemstore is always a premium compare to B2P, so like I exposed earlier paying 90$ to unlock all HoT specialization would be good, into the F2P model.
F2P players pay more when they want and need to. It’s a freedom that cost more than the B2P model. but… the keyword here is, F2P is 10x larger in player base.
I really miss those 3 seconds queue time (with a premade…).
Its a buy to play game that lets you pay to win in spvp. There are also free to play and sub-based games that let you pay to win. Spin it how you want, but before HoT this kind of discussion never came up.
Anyway the question is not “is Gw2’s spvp p2w”- because it clearly is – but “why did the company decide to go down the p2w route for spvp?”
You’re wrong. It’s buy-to-win plain and simple.
And for PvP, I dispute that definition.
You can dispute reality all you want, but you’ll always be wrong.
Yes Velimere, like you said and quoted, it’s Buy to Win. Thank you to listening us, reading and understanding the differences betweeb Buy to Play and Buy to Win.
Since sPvP is a MOBA, let’s do like them to bring more players in.
Guild Wars 2 isn’t a MOBA; it’s an MMORPG.
There you have it, according to Velimere.7685, the reason GW2 is p2w is because its a mmorpg.
Before HoT this was the only mmorpg that had absolutely no p2w in its spvp gamemode, and it was a godsend.
Well, before HoT, the core game wasn’t accessible to free players.
Wrong again. Summer 2015 was the F2P heaven, we had 3 seconds queue pop in RANK queue.
HoT did come in 25 October 2015 and shorter queue time were 1 min or so. Both at the same MMR or so.
Since sPvP is a MOBA, let’s do like them to bring more players in.
Guild Wars 2 isn’t a MOBA; it’s an MMORPG.
Gw2 pve is a MMORPG.
Gw2 spvp is completely defined by this: Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.
Just separate Free trial players from Expansion players. Solution done.
Hmmm… I agree with you.
HoT Queues would take 1 hour, while CORE Queue would get under 30 sec, like it was in summer 2015 with the Free to Play successful conversion rate.
Then that means core classes is better balanced than HoT classes. Shame on the balance team.
Or that means that F2P spvp players population would be more active than HoT sPvP buyer. Then the HoT player, would join the more populate queue to compete.
MOBA players don’t buy to play. Bring them into a “fair” model with a skill-based action pack combat and you will have 10x more of them than your actual pve player base.
And since F2P bring more money than B2P, Whales will pay for skins much more than B2P players. B2P players want to pay once to get everything. F2P want to pay for something they want, when they want it at a premium price.
- DD lotus DD evade condi build (needs nerf)
- Chronophantasm Chrono Condi build (needs nerf)
- Traps Evade condi DD (needs nerf)
- Reaper (needs buff, needs other forms of damage negation instead of soaking damage in shroud because kitten letting enemies hit you is a NO when they do all sorts of healing upon hitting you and I’m referring to you berserkers)
“Scissors is fine, nerf paper.” – Rock.
Sorry, Rock got deleted in Gw2.
Push it further.
Each guild should have SPVP currency.
Each players repping a guild bring his wins in SPVP currency. Half for all other guild he have.
That currency should be used individually for spvp skins and globally for spvp guild halls. (unfortunetaly, guild influence is lost…)
but… spvp guild halls should be made entirely of spvp. To get a better spvp community, we need to accomodate the spvp players only. Why? They are always there, making spvp groups… doing spvp things.
Actually, it’s not fun to pve or wvw or harvest stuff for guild halls.
But should that be enough?
We need incentives to let players play and play and play. Even if they finish their Legendary division, or finish their new map achievement… should always have something to “do” and progress. As long, it is not tied to the skill-based ranking, grinding is GOOD to give a reason to players (not me, really… 10k games without much rewards, i don’t care) to continue to play the game.
The only thing I’d like to see changed with dh is an higher skill floor.
I’ ve never played dh before of this season and I only needed some hours to play decently this prof and get good results.
And when you face the 99% of dh basically always the same skill feeling, is super rare to say “ok, this dh is really better than others”, basically are all in the same floor after some hours.
This copy&paste feeling only happens with dh in my experience, really more than other profs.
It’s already in game. More than 75% of DH we face are really bad. They only spam randomly their skill.
They die in 1v1 a lot.
They don’t rotate properly.
What save bad DH, is bad DH stacking. This and traps.
Trap should have cast time (heal trap the first offender) and the Cooldown should start when it trigger. This is the only OPness of traps we have right now.
I do agree on the fact that my cursing, cussing and name calling has no positive contribution, but that is not the reason I play PvP. The main reason I play PvP is to win my daily rewards and blow out some steam from work.
I agree, in team oriented games, you cannot shoulder the burden of defeat onto oneself yet methods can be put in place to prevent such poor outcomes.
I don’t think there’s a MMR system in play for Unranked. I believe it just pools the solo queuers and throws them in a bucket, spins that bucket then throws it down the stairs.
There is an unranked MMR.
Doing the trash talk, did gave you a big dishonor hit. Active dishonor go away fast, but residual dishonor not.
That stack of residual dishonor is affecting your MMR in a big way.
Unfortunately, Anet sanctions are harsh and they penalize you for a long long time.
If you like pvp, you should buy another HoT box on sales and start from there.
Your stories feel like you are in MMR hell.
Have fun,
Dal
Immpossible did make many 1v2 for minutes with thief.
He do that in timing when to go on point so they don’t cap it and juke out to get chase around, to go back on point.
If you can do that on thief, you can do that on anything else.
Work on Juking skills.
For the thief 1v1 comment, it’s false. In the past 4 years, many thieves where beast in 1v1. I can name Caed, Toker, Snuggle, Tron…
1v1 with thief is the harder skill ceiling you get for 1v1, but it’s possible to win most of your 1v1 with a thief. I’ve seen Snuggle in 2015 being Kill of the Hill for hours.
To others saying thieves should not be on even fights (1v1, 2v2, 4v4). Usually, having a thief on even fights is better than being -1 and losing it. Thief should be first to rotate out of team fights when it’s +1. (err, when the first is down but not stomp, to decap/ca side points, before leaving he poison arrows the body)
Good thief know to position themselves near their support toon and use the body of the support (druids, scrapper, ele) to body block their attacker. Since they have great evage and TP, they can enter a fight and exit in 5 sec… (not enough to get killed from aoe, but you know… not more longer)
Those 5 sec thief in team fight are game changer. It’s when you see 3 or 4 bodies on the floor… I guess Dagger auto-attack is OP for that.
This season meta, Immpossible and Topher both shows to me, it is possible to do all that and more.
But… if you wanna faceroll with thief… sorry, change class.
It’s all about where you are, where you go (not too long) and using your peelz from support properly. So, yeah… a thief without a good support is bad. Same thief with awesome support is King.
We need better “group” / “guild” / “teams” incentives to what we have right now. (guild leaderboard is trash, having a chance to pro league through it is not enough for most spvp players)
On big problem we have with many spvp guild is leader do guild to go Legend, then drop the game to play other things. The guild with 12-15 players got shafted out of it, they help him got Legend but he is not helping back those around.
So your system could give them incentives to stay and play. But… not many high mmr players will rekt their mmr for the sake of others TEAM to learn.
I had done that many times myself, to my own sake. I did “sacrifice” some MMR to players who stop playing a long time ago. So… yes, we need more system to actually have good goals for a spvp guild to matter more than 1 season.
To make it happen, i think a “teacher” should click a button “Teach” that those games will not affected his MMR and will not give him any “normal queue” rewards. (so he can’t game mmr immunity with it) A teacher / coach reward system could be created to let people have incentives to do that.
The thing is, most Mentor/Coach/Teacher will simply roll F2P account to help newbies around. So no impact on MMR.
It’s hard when you are ranked 300 on the board (pre-2015 one) to enter a group at 80%, because your 300 is compute giving that 80% team… team in the 800-500 bracket.
Not sure if that make sense, but I agree that we need more “incentives” to play spvp in team or guild.
Everyone is saying everything is OP. Druid is OP plz nerf healing, DH is OP plz nerf traps, Thief is OP plz nerf evades, engi is OP plz nerf stability, Rev is OP plz nerf stunbreaks, mesmer is OP plz nerf condis & moa, etc. The only classes that no one thinks isn’t OP is necro and ele. If everything is OP, nothing is OP.
Man… that’s because that game is Buy To Play.
They need to do something, to sell that, right? Basic knowledge from all pvp experts right there.
I’m fairly certain the PvP devs don’t actually play their own game.
They do but it’s always in premades (at least duos) as far as I’ve seen.
If they actually solo q’d they’d realize how bad S4 is and how frustrating it is carrying a bunch of people who don’t deserve anything above ~Sapphire.
CmcCmC CmcCmc (iksago.xxxx — spelling?) Had his Anet flag two dayz ago. That guy soloq a lot for a long time. He got a relatively good MMR and he played warrior, mesmer, druids…? He is the more active that I know of.
Nord.xxxx —- aka Grouch, I got that one four weeks ago, i did soloq on Druids Mender (I know why Cleric got deleted…) without his Anet flag.
It seems, many DEV play the game without Anet Flag these dayz. I like to have them on my team randomly.
There is other one that I will not named, with high MMR but low skill ceiling. But you know, no one is perfect.
To be good in the PIP system, you need to play too much game because 1 win = 1 pip.
To be good in a MMR system, you just need to win versus good players.
Actually, since PIP is tied to time. A PIP only system would be a grinder heaven for players that have more than 40 hours a week…
Season 4 is too much grindy already.
Having a “time” variable into a “competitive” design is a delusion of skill.
tl;dr Fully skill based league should not use “time” as a variable to show “skills”. Players with 10 to 15 hours a week (that have trained a lot in the past or not) should be able to compete with the “good”, if they are “good”. (like it’s actually the case in unranked)
Does sPvP is a skill based game?
Does the skill based design should give equals chance of winning to all?
Does a skill based design give all options to players to compete with?
Does F2P of Gw2 (yeah, it exist right there for more than 1 year) achieve all game design and specifications of sPvP?
If no, do you realize your are antagonizing a player based? The F2P players still buy gem, you know? So, they still pay the bills, right?
Do MMORPG players, understand that MOBA are 10x populous (or popular) than classic MMORPG, because they are easier to access? (most of them are F2P)
Does sPvP players of Gw2 want more players to play with, so more competitions?
To compete better on the market, we need to have 1 strong vocal design… not two design that clash together. F2P is a thing in Gw2 right now. Stop thinking it’s not there. It’s there and it bring a lot of new players in summer 2015. Those same players we lost in Octobr 2015 behind a paywall.
I did pay HoT. Only for 9 specialisation. I don’t play PVE or WvW. I did pay too much money for the worth it bring for my playstyle.
I want sPvP to grow. It’s obvious we are not growing since December 2015.
Since sPvP is a MOBA, let’s do like them to bring more players in.
Sorry for my disinformation. Simply I don’t see so much gyro during the match.
And anyway the meta include 2 gyros, not 4 :p (just joking, stay happy)
Never forget the Function Gyro, he is “stealth” on build by default.
Stealth Gyro is still an option on meta build. The elixir elite is more for point holder 1v1 type of build.
For team fights, REVEAL and AOE Stealth is better support than MOA for 4 sec.
The only time I find MOA better, is when the comp is overcrowd with teamfighters build and I know I will hold FAR or Home.
For qualifier of the big Esport scene builds:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Team-comp-at-the-WTS-Qualifier/first#post6279973
Scrapper play more support than 1v1 bruiser. Even… we have seen a Mender scrapper….
…
I really see few Gyro engy in game, but i don’t know if it’s why gyros are weak or why the amount of AoE damage kill them before they have the time to be useful (more or less the same thing that happen to Mm necro in a team fight).
…
Please bring more disinformation please.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Scrapper_-_Power_Hammer
That META build got 4 gyro.
1- Function Gyro : Everyone cry for a nerf on that one. Well, making him scale with stats would make it less tanky for a less tank build. So it would balanced it’s OPness.
BTW, this is a Nerf Wish List.
I can ask for the NERF I want, without having somebody trying to make my points bad (when obviously he is giving disinformation).
Please, leave me be,
ANet made that to make new players try this game and then BUY this game. That’s all.
No P2W, not B2W. Buy the game if you like it. Don’t buy the game if you don’t like it. Nothing more.
Stop lying.
You said yourself that HoT is a must have to compete. So a must have to win.
So, it’s not B2P, it’s B2W.
“ANet don’t want to make you play the necromancer, ANet want to force you to play the Reaper and buy HoT if you’ve not it.”
“2) They sell HoT and the main game only why there’s the chance to obtain that Elite Specializzations. Strip off the ES by HoT and no one will buy the game and everyone will play in F2P forever losing only a raid and 3 legendary weapons that was supposed to be the legendary weapons of the poor players but became much more expensive than the old ones. It’s marketing. no one make MMORPG of that level for free.
After that 2 really good reasons why ANet will never make the Core strong as the Elite, there’s the problem that they never announced any other Elite Specializzation and they probably will not announce any of them for still a long long time."
Yeah basically, you need to buy HoT to win games. Why, like you said it’s the only way to sell HoT.
And so on and so on…
I don’t understand why you continue to lie to yourself. Does Anet is paying you for that?
I am a sPvP fanboiz, I want sPvP to get better. I want it to Grow. sPvP is the best Multiplayer Online Battle Arena on Earth. But Smite is still F2P and do better with populations than gw2 that is B2W (in your own delusion – B2P).
Main sPvP problems is population. Match making would be way better if more than 500 players would know how to play it.
Best way to carry, is to use your best class and find a way to 1v2 on a point your color for minutes.
Portal give you more power to do that.
But… to do that, you need a side point already owned.
All elite specs should be automatically enabled in SPVP, particularly if they won’t nerf them all into the ground so original specs aren’t at a massive disadvantage unless you’re a 420pro.
Fair enough. But then what incentives sPvP players to purchase the expansion if they don’t play PvE or WvW?
The incentives? The sPvP players that want to PvE or WvW would pay for it.
Meanwhile, hybrid system like:
All CORE Free, 1 free specialization rotation / week Free, specialization unlock for 800 gems.
This would bring money from the sPvP populations. at 9 × 800 = 7200 gems.
https://gw2efficiency.com/currencies/gems
2100 golds or 90$ for all unlock.
Sound fair. Would respect MOBA business model.
And remember, many spvp players (me included) paid gem store of “character slot/cosmetic item”. So it’s not a total loss if they open up all FREE for spvp.
1) Druid
-I think the formula for celestial avatar should be inverted, meaning that healing should contribute for much less respect to dmg. Right now druids can spec full healer while the pet does close to paladin amulet dmg..if not a little more
Pet damage should scale with Druids stats.
Power pet with Power/crit/ferocity, condi pet with condition damage.
Gyros should scale with Scrapper stats.
Spirit weapon should scale with Guardian stats.
All AI should scale with player stats, so players don’t try to abuse a “pet build” with tank stats.
For what I know, GW2 is still a MMORPG, also in sPvP, Not a MOBA.
Do you want to play a real F2P MOBA game? You have to search for old and bad ones, why actually there’s not a single F2P MOBA on the web. They’re all maskered by F2P but if you don’t spend a LOT of money on them you will never achieve the true best ability, skills, characters, stats, and more.
Turn back to your Fake F2P LoL and be happy.
That’s a B2P game.And, please, download a game is not a payment for the game you’re downloading.
Paragon – new MOBA that will have more than 2k players in it. Way better than sPvP Gw2.
Gigantic – new MOBA with F2P model.
Heroes of Storm, not that old, great F2P game with a superb business model making huge number of players.
Well… You seems to don’t understand 300 millions of MOBA players in a market, is much more than the 2k+ players in sPvP right now.
Or much more than Guild Wars 2 player based “all-time”.
I am sick of long queue time with a spvp population of more than 75%+ that can’t even play basics. (yeah I mean pver coming in a pvp game, ruining the fun for all players that know what they are doing)
Even then celestial shadow isn’t broken in conquest specifically so it’s not even that important.
edit: After reading, none of what I said even matters, the guard and necro are trash.
Or they met Kraelle.
I feel you man. S4 match making is the pits
Yeah! Now everyone is affected by bad MMR players.
It’s hard to carry those guyz in our game. It always was. Since 2012.
Just separate Free trial players from Expansion players. Solution done.
Hmmm… I agree with you.
HoT Queues would take 1 hour, while CORE Queue would get under 30 sec, like it was in summer 2015 with the Free to Play successful conversion rate.
Please stop nerfing my utilities.
Reveal is a toolbet skills with correct ICD.
Using it at the right time will make you a great support or a bad support player.
The support scrapper build, use reveal to help you stomp/cleave.
For the second time in this thread. Mesmers only gain a 10% increase to revive speed with that trait. The “dome” is just a feedback that reflects projectiles. Its hardly OP, get inside it and wreck them. Or just use AOE, or unblockable projecticles. There is nothing OP about that trait
I don’t think it’s all about “Oh this is op that is op”. Part of the reason for thesse demands is normalizing rez capability. Once normalized then numbers and other such things can be looked at but when you have to balance around random factors then it makes balance impossible. Say we buff base res speed, then all the 10% traits would be op as kitten but if we nerf it then they may be mandatory to get a res off any time.
Solution is to remove all safe stomps and res buffs so that the actions are normalized and then change functions accordingly. Cap on rally range would be a fine implementation just by itself so that can go in regardless. (Tired of killing someone once they deem it safe to leave a teamfight only to have them rally from someone across the map who happened to die)
Except that most classes already have a 10% increase in revive speed trait.
Necros do.
Mesmers do.
Elementalists do.
Thief does (and gets stealth as well).
Heralds do.
Rangers do (though it automatically activates search and rescue, which does make this trait more powerful).6 out of 9 classes have access to these revive speed traits and yet he only complains about mesmers.
Lol, Scrapper do with function gyro is somewhat revive speed traits but work only on ICD and you need to activate it (and he can die on aoe).
DH do have Protective Reviver that while is not helping on rezz speed, it negate tons of cleaves and help the revived guyz to peels with aegies, protection and regens….
Every class in Gw2 can bring utility to rez/stomp/cleave.
Change one aspect, balanced the other one, plz.
This is something we’ve been monitoring for a while. We’re looking at a couple of different options here, but we do need to be careful making changes to something that is so integral to PvP gameplay (and as a note, we’d be making changes to PvP only).
Below are some suggestions I’ve seen on this forum over the past few months. We wouldn’t do all of them of course, but I figured I’d throw them out and see how you folks feel about them.
- Implement 1-to-1 rally policy, similar to WvW. This means that only 1 player would rally per enemy killed, rather than up to 5. Would likely be the downed ally closest to the enemy player.
- Cap the range at which someone can rally.
- Bring back PvE-downstate policy
- Shorten revive/downed “invuln” buff.
- Reduce healing per tick when rezzing.
- Further reduce downstate HP
- Adjust outlier revive skills (Function Gyro)
The 1 to 1 rally would be good. Don’t think you need much else.
So bad… 1 to 1 don’t work if you have 1+ cleavers. So, for 1 to 1 rally, let’s say you can only have 1 cleaver. Negate all damage… yeah sure… right. Kappa.
At least, health point rezzing should use healing power… so the sacrifice of damage bring more utility to the team.
Another option would be to increase the effectiveness of poison against downed enemies, maybe even make the res of posioned downed players impossible.
Not a lot of people use poison on people who are getting rezzed. Poison is probably the main culprit behind instant rez skills not working too…
It’s the main reason purge gyro is used, the toolbet skill is a pulsing poison fields.
People are kittened that scrapper are utility rezzer/stomper when they play versus them… but are so happy to have them on their side.
It’s the last thing that made scrapper viable and all of you guyz, do the same mistake over and over… (bunk guard… shoutbow war, bunker mesmer, tempest aurashare, scrapper) you simply cry because some “support” build seems better than your DPS build for team fights.
Back when pvp was at its peak, players used bunker guard for the frequent stability to secure stomps and resses. Downing someone in teamfights consisted of both cleaving AND stomping at the same time (cleave to buy time). Nowadays, its 90% of the time not even worth stomping, b/c you can just cleave down a body faster, and will get 1000x cc or dps thrown on you if you do try stomp without an invuln (even just stab isn’t enough).
Until Terrormancer was a thing and fear you out of stability. Then some Matt supposed to be God guyz, was saying you didn’t have skill enough to stab stomp someone. (he did ignore the prevalence of stab to fear corrupt boon).
Shortly after, april 2014 released the most OP ele build ever and Bunker Guard got put in the trash bin.
Finally fought a good Engi, Skittledness.5106 on Never Lucky.
A good (I emphasis the word) Engi can beat symbol DH but it’s a soft counter rather than hard counter. The two will sustain for days before Engi tops DH, unless he misses a footing and gets both pushed + pulled inside ToF.
I wouldn’t call it a bad scenario having the two fight on point, especially if the DH can bunk Engi off for a possible neutral node, but it’s not exactly favorable for DH if fight drags on which it will if the Engi is any good.
Thanks for the duels Skittled.
A video with both link build would had been awesome.
The video would had tell, if you did time your interrupt well enough to counter scrapper healing turret.
The link build would show if your Scrapper did use the “meta utility” gyro or the old 1v1 scrapper build. For duels, it’s so easy to swap utility to duel skills.
If that would be the case, you would probably wins the fight faster than stalling it for minutes on end.
Capricorn or any new or novel or beta map should be a third queue. So people that want to farm that, can.
The other who are done with it or want to actually improved their game for ranked Q need a place to go. (actually, that place is called X, where X is another game)
To make it short, sPvP would benefit to be all around Free to play because it’s game design is based around “equal” chance to compete. (no grind or money involved)
This would be a “Free-trial” to new HoT spec-like thing. It would boost sPvP population.
To access PvE or WvW, you still B2P.
For sPvP with the simple solution, people don’t think you are B2W and so, you got “good perceived” value of your game and not the “Pay to Win” junk reputation our beloved game now have.
Please nerf cleave.
Tempest, Scrapper, DH, Reaper, Thief or Revenant can kill one rezzer alone. So cleave is definitely op. Kappa.
It’s fantastic how people want the game to be balanced, but always forgot to nerf the “counterpart” of something.
If you nerf rezz, you need to nerf cleaves.
Been suggested after Grouch come into the thread here:

So, I agree with you and +1.
Oh and btw, since we are in pvp forum.
I don’t care PVE or WvW are Buy to win.
But for sPvP, a MOBA game inside that MMORPG you like so much, F2P should have equal chance compare to B2P, to respect the equal chance for all to win (skill based game).
This is the game design of sPvP —> skill based game.

Expansions are B2P, not P2W.
For sPvP in Guild Wars 2, expac are Buy to Win (B2W).
B2W is not even a model. Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG, and PvP is a single aspect of it. People who PvP in World of Warcraft or other MMORPGs with paid expansions can’t access expansion content without buying said expansion content either.
It’s the new model Anet created.
Buy to play games don’t have Free to play included.
But Guild Wars do.
To make sales, they did forced you to buy HoT in putting Vanilla stuff obsolete.
Buy to Win would be the proper WORDS to help Free to Play players know they got “trap” in downloading a 40 gig games and will have a hard time to win, without Buying the Expac to Win.
B2W.
But… Nope, it’s not Anet that created the Model.
It exist, just look around the web:
http://herowarzforum.koggames.com/forum/herowarz/general-discussion/3900-is-herowarz-p2w-discussion
“Hello! I want to post a thread about this for a while. So why not today? A lot of newcomers keep saying that this game is P2W (Pay 2 Win) or B2W (Buy 2 Win) and I do not understand why they keep saying that. So the questions for this thread are: “Do you think Herowarz (Both PVE and PVP aspects) will be P2W? Why or why not?”"

https://forum.arcgames.com/neverwinter/discussion/505582/buy-2-win-pvp-is-a-joke/p2
And so on…
Yeah, if you want to have the Free to Play crowd (100x population than buy to play crowd), you need to make it correctly. If not, your F2P efforts and money, is a failure and will not attract the 100 millions F2P players out there.
You choose.
Play for free is like play a Mass Effect with only a gun, but you can do it without spend a single penny and try all the levels of the game, till the end of the story, with also the multiplayer option.
Buy the game is like play with all the weapons you want, but you have to pay Once for all (and not so much compared to other games).i don’t really think it’s P2W. It’s also not a B2W, because if you play a TRIAL you can not even pretend to win against someone that Buyed the game.
You’re not here to Play the game, you’re here to TRY the game, then chose if buy o find another game to play.
Then, if you like the game you can buy it for a moderate price and play all the contents and be happy. If you don’t like it, you can go and find another one and be happy.About the expansion to buy also for veterans… yes, that hurts a lot but I played for 3 years with 40€, I can spend another 40 to play for other 3 years. is more or less 1,1€/month. i don’t think that is a so big payment…
Well stop playing with words.
Here is how Anet word it out:

“Play For Free”
In my country, if you sale something on false representation you are susceptible to a class action suit.
No where, it is written Free Trial.
People did download more than 40 gig, to find out it’s Buy to Win.
This is a FACT. You need to Buy HoT to wins games.
AGain i lost a match bcoz of that Players. He keep doin 1 fight and stayin on homebase. We are keep playin 4 vs 5 bcoz of him.. ? …
The solution to win when you got 1 standing on a point, is when you are 4v5, you need 1 to uncap far (uncap is enough, he come back on mid). This will usually bring 1 or 2 to it. It’s a diversion.
In case you lost people on mid fights, disengage and split.
I know it’s not easy as having 5 man working a man-to-man strat, but at least it could create opening and mistakes on the other team.
So basically during my last match i would get massive lag spikes when approaching two of the enemy players, both had the same guild tag.
I kept an eye on my ping, it would sit at around 60-80 on average, but as soon as they got near would spike up to 400-600, lagging out and id be dead from the burst damage before i could even react.
I found it pretty suspicious, any thoughts?
Read that:

If you use a public ts server or public forum… or whatever other internet means, your IP address could be “flood”.
I will not say name (forum policy), but some really good players where “lagging me and my team” when I were on a public pvp TS.
Botnet access cost peanut these dayz.
I Love it. Not sure why it got “ignored”, but at least we will be able to be ranked by our skill level and not our available time to grind something up.
Its always incredible the number of times people can explain that there is nothing on the back end for 50/50 and its a product of good matchmaking algos.
The problem with GW2 is laid out exactly in Josh’s post, anyone who doesnt understand it needs to reread it and then think about what having a pip system and mmr system working at the same time does to groupings.
Its not hard to get, it has been talked about to death here. Drop pips and just use pure MMR ala DOTA2, LoL, CSGO, OW. Good games just use MMR and add leagues as a fuzz for exact numbers. Really good games just give you your MMR and end it there.
+1
There is so many options versus “block”.
Read that to get better:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unblockable
Print it and read it before sleep. After 2 weeks you will laugh at your own old ignorance.
I am saying 1 vs 1. I don’t think any scrapper killed me 1 vs 1.What you are describing to me is like a team fight since I don’t recall it. Trust me, me losing to a scrapper 1 vs 1 is mechanically impossible atm.
True, if a pro scrapper vs a low mmr player ( rev) vs me can’t kill me and failed to do so countless time. I don’t see how I can lose to an engi in 1 vs 1. Btw me not losing to a scrapper doesn’t mean I killed him or didn’t lose the point ( in 2 vs 1).
Anywyas, if it was a 1 vs 1 * although I don’t recall it) grats my friend
All good. Warrior is not a strong counter to Scrapper actually. But with your decent skill, i am sure you kill many average scrapper.
Naaah, not condi interrupt
. It’s a bit cc spam prone then power. Still trying to make out power mesmer with power block.
Then good luck.
One of the best Interrupt Mesmer out there, just gave you two build that could be viable but are not.
It’s the best you could play for that play style.
If you want to interrupt, DH are better now.
