Build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQJBLhdygI04AW0A4zAwhJWMAM3SbqN2GEAWAHgiJZW4LA-T5gZABHu/AePAAAKDAA
After a while, I tried different build with mender, magi (not enough damage) and sage.
I was kinda surprise by sage and tried to go with Rabid (toughness to help versus power based heavy comp, can switch wanderer if only 1 show up).
Aura helps for our sustain (regen + vigor + heals) even if earth or air is not taken.
Fire trait line give a fire aura each time we enter into fire and Arcane trait line, reduce the waiting time between each fire aura. More it’s stacking Might like crazy, so burn going for 5k tick are real.
I did all out Fire + Earth + Tempest first with Balthazar amulet, but the surv was not really there.
So, with Arcana I did tweak the arcane recharges and now the heals with blast are real.
Then switching to radiance gave me swiftness + retals when need. The vitality on the amulet give more room to breathe… but well, it’s still a casual builds.
Not sure if some main ele would like to experiment into that direction, but I find it quite fun and more effective than burn guard to stack and re-apply burns after cleanses….
For mobility dagger is probably better, the condition pressure is a bit less. On the other hand, playing scepter is something new (casual) to have fun with.
The stunbreak over 60 sec timer, is not great. I tried Gale, but this is a comp call.
Focus could help more versus condis, but I find that rabid toughness can take some beating so warhorn could be used without being killed on the spot.
Any thoughts?
Please continue to give us great post like this.
I agree fully with you.
I would add that people you blocked should not see your MMR for obvious reason.
I would like to have a “public, friend, private” switch, that way all player could do whatever they want with their own MMR.
But TEAM MMR should always been shown, so we can say if we did perform well for that MMR level (even after a lost).
And since MMR is used across the board (in league too), I want this for all QUEUE that use MMR.
It’s a fun build for sure, but any engi/scrapper build without Alchemy+Inventions will die to competent players. Lacks consistent Condition Removal, but yeah I only see this working against people who don’t how to fight it or take free cleave.
Have to disagree with you there. I’d probably buy that all builds need EITHER inventions or alchemy, but to say they need both is absolutely purely a failure of the imagination and/or player skill. Yes, the meta hammer scrapper is really strong and takes very little skill to play competently. But it isn’t the only “viable” build. The subject build is absolutely weak to conditions, I concede that (and have actually since changed to heal turret, leadership runes, and paladin amulet in part to address that). But to say that one specific weakness (conditions) in exchange for some specific strengths (aoe damage and CC) makes a build “not work” seems misguided to me. I would interpret that simply as being balanced, requiring some negative trade in order to gain something else that’s strong.
PS: didn’t mean for this to come off as brusque as it does. I just mean to state a difference of opinion
You need to understand scrapper role better to know that in a condi burst meta (mesmer, warrior, reaper are the easiest to play now) you want all chances to win your 1v1 and 2v2 versus them.
If you can’t, chances are you are losing the matches. In unranked with avg MMR you will be good simply trying to CC before getting condi burst, but at high level you will get condi burst, before you do the CC.
Offer some gold to Marvin, he could show you by himself (he is in the top 20 players NA). Make sure to make a video in case you win your point.
Pre-December 2014 era was skill based leaderboard.
It had flaws (not showing MMR) but you can copy Overwatch ranking system, it work great for them.
Unless I bring. Boon steal!! Mesmer has it, Necro has it, Thief now has an abundance of it. Welcome to rock paper scissors pvp lol.
Welcome to Paper Scissor PVP, Rock had been Deleted with Amulet removals.
Now the people that can’t counter Paper are asking for the same treatment. Let’s have a Scissor only game for the “healthiness” of gameplay… kappa.
Yeah, QQ a lot, since Rock was carrying your Scissor body away from Paper.
GW2 is a MMORPG.
It has the best PvP of any other MMORPG I’ve played,by far.
Comparing it with dedicated PvP games is not fair.
Unless they completely separate the PvP mode from the rest of the game we shouldn’t make this comparison, despite the push for Esports by Anet.So you never played games like Guild Wars or Eve Online?
Hell I would put Ragnarok Online higher in terms of PvP and balance.
Comparing Gw2 pvp to real “dead games” is not working here.
Find a competitive pvp mmorpg without grinds, that let everyone chose the options to come with something up and compare them on skill… not on level, pips grindings or other pve none-sense.
You can’t find it. Ever. If you do, link here.
+1 this Thread.
Season 1 system, should come up with PIP system.
At the very least, the you don’t lose pips on closed match lost at 400+ is really important to make people trying hard until the end.
Well azyume.6321, you ROCK TONS. +1 on your post.
Don’t let people that don’t contribute stopping you. Leecher and Lamer are everywhere. Your time is really appreciated. I would enjoy a “professional write up” with comps and build for all PRO event.
But not everybody could be a good journalist/blogger.
I was happy to see that the Scrapper EU builds look the same than what I run after the balanced patch.
To resume short this thread and the reddit one:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4wspu4/pvp_matchmaking_to_be_changed_back_to_season_1/
1- People would prefer to have same skill level of all players on both team. Not bad playing with good. This was the case before Anet implement Pip-Range to counter SMURFING. Please, undo that. Simply give a PIP malus for the highest divisions players. So, they encourage their team to not smurf.
2- Rewards should not be tied to ranking. Everyone want rewards. PVP casual rewards (back pack) and PVP best rewards (those only the best can have). So, introducing more rewards is need.
3- PIPS system of season 1, was appreciated by the player based. Not losing pips for closed match (ie 400+ to 500) was a good incentive for players to continue and not AFK/rage quit. Please, answer your player based about PIPS system of season 1.
4- Divisions or League with grinding WINS is not working to show prestige. Grinding hard or easy game to progress where you should belong to get good matches is counterproductive. We want good matches on the go. Overwatch have a ranking ELO based system that is addictive for competitive gamers and casual one. Please think about this.
5- Many players who got easy wins in season 2 and 3 had been MMR carried. Now they need to carry low MMR or have their MMR reset. Many are already complaining. A division placement + a MMR soft reset would help to see who is WORTHY of their MMR.
We’re not at a point where we’re able to discuss the changes we’ll be making to PvP Leagues for future seasons, but making rewards more accessible for casual players and making divisions prestigious and a more accurate indicator of skill are among our highest priorities.
Even more accessible than they are now? So that they don’t reflect neither dedication nor skill? Seems like the perfect approach to appeal to the PvP fanbase.
In the meanwhile, legendary armor is gated behind weeks and weeks of raiding (which I think it’s perfectly fine). But apparently PvP rewards should be awarded just for logging into the PvP lobby.
You should fix the division system so it purely reflects your skill level, and then gate the rewards behind divisions, so people are encouraged to improve, not to brainlessly farm PvP games.
But you cannot seriously pretend to turn GW2’s PvP into an eSport while rewarding in similar ways hardcore and casual players. Either you create a casual-friendly reward system and then abandon the eSport adventure (which is quite dead anyways tbh), or you gate rewards behind skill level to encourage competition/improvement, even if that means losing casual players in this particular game mode.
I don’t agree.
You can make a competitive match-making.
You can make a competitive ranking with it.
You can make a different grindy “quest” to rewards anyone. You just need to do your PVE grindy reward not “tie” with the competitive system.
So you still get casual pver grinders playing into a competitive system.
But going a bit deeper, they need to get REWARDS for PVEr and REWARDS for the best in PVP, so both your hardcore and casuals get something out of it.
Anet did wrong trying to mix both of those, trying to make everyone happy that way, did the opposite.
They just need to make a proper MM and Ranking system. Then put more rewards that cater all their player base.
Please balanced properly for SPVP and give us control on attribute distributions like all FREE (like freedom) MMORPG out there.
Therefore the only thing that can create anything to compete with the elite trait line is another elite trait line. And if you really want a broader diversity then the new elites need to have a different function than the current elites. Like ranger needs something that isn’t based upon support to give rangers a different role to fill because while they only have access to druid then all they will be is a support role.
So…Anet needs to keep trying the same thing that has been failing horribly:
“Fight power creep with MORE POWERCREEP!!!!”
You know that the next set of elites are not going to be side-grades to current elites, they will be straight-up stronger and everyone will QQ that even HoT specs are dead.
Balancing 1x every 3 months, with people who don’t have a very strong grasp about why things are strong or not, hasn’t worked well throughout GW2 history.
Do you have an alternative solution to the lack of build diversity problem because unless that solution has remove the extra feature one gets with the elite line, ie remove continuum split, reaper shroud, overload, 50 endurance for DD, celestial avatar, function gyro, berserk, DH virtues, glint, then that idea will not work because there will be no reason not to run the elite trait line?
Viability of builds depends on attribute in the first place.
Before, june 2015, we did choose trait-lines to upgrade one attribute to make a build viable with amulet+sigil combo.
To make CORE class a thing, it just need more attributes “customization” way to make that happen.
Since they did accept to balance for pvp skills, the balanced traits/skills for attributes scaling should be adressed for all classes and then, opening the possibilities to custom made our own attributes for our build.
That way, it empower players to make any build with the possibilities to counter any other build around. This would open up Anet working on meaningful things and stopping to apply time-comuming bandaid like amulet removal or various nerf.
Support is never useless. Even if ele is total garbage in 1:1 and no fun playing if he can support and heal teammates it´s a possible pick because support in a team > then no support …. The will most likely always be a support spot in a team ….
So this does´t mean ele is in a good spot an fun to play …
Except, when your support is easier to chain/burst than other DPS roamer, you probably don’t want to support anymore.
Way easier to kill your opponent first, than trying to out-sustain a Power DPS build on mender.
So, Fresh Air Tempest > Any support coming from mender or magi.
People need to understand that it was easy to kill a Cleric Tempest with some focus fire and CC. Now, it’s a joke you can do alone, for fun.
Anyone else feel like most of the effort went into things like WvW and PvE? I’ve been reading on forums from 2012 to now. People have since then been complaining about design problems, balance issues, matchmaking issues, the works. I see some things got better, but not much.
I really want to like PvP, I even bought HoT (I played since 2014 2015ish) to have a fair advantage.
PvP has received far more love than WvW over the course of this game, and whilst PvE has obviously had more resources put into it, the actual combat in this game was designed around PvP, and for the first 3 years the game was virtually entirely balanced around PvP, to the detriment of WvW & PvE.
The state of PvP is down to poor decisions by Anet, a policy of band-aids rather than fixing actual issues, making the classic mistake of launching without decent PvP infrastructure, so by the time you add things like leagues it is too late, a huge chunk of your actual PvP population has left the game (bribing PvE players into PvP does not work) and so on…
If you define love as destroying and rebuilding everything from “match-making 5.0, leaderboard 4.0, rewards, level, skills, builds, meta, maps” and still offering the third of features you where offering at lunch.
Guess they did Love PVP too much.
New entries in.
We are still recruiting.
@suffish
To resume my understanding from your post:
Druid rotate on team fights to heals, while engi do skirmishes with necro.
In case we have a 3+ fights, Druids should be there for heals and Scrapper for Rez.
Thank you guyz, really appreciated.
@suffish or others:
Did you see major differences in the season 3 meta build versus what people were running?
Since tempest seems not there anymore, what class did defensive supportive rotations more than the other?
Hello all,
I’ve been there:
https://competitive.guildwars2.com/en/news/watch-the-guild-wars-2-world-championship-qualifier
Was not able to find anything about comp.
I’ve seend bracket, but can’t click on team to get roster/comp info.
I’ve been to twitch, I can’t find it… perhaps I am “too noob” to know where to find archives matchup… but..
Nobody is writing summary of that even yet.
Anyone can help me find more informations about it? At least, a link on the laggy bad rez twitch video would be a start.
Thank you,
I think we need to get Forum Moderator on the /report queue, so they could “act” in giving dishonor stack to verbal abuse/afk/leaver and other toxic stuff. They communicate well when they punish you, so It would probably be the same into the game.
Exemple:
Some players is verbal abusing in the map chat. 3 reports for verbal abuse. A mod read the report, look the chat log of the offender, send a “template verbal abuse in game mail” and give 20 stack of dishonor.
Job done.
This would help players known that spvp toxicity is not “granted” and Anet is working on it.
Any other solutions?
I have encounter some rifle build lately. Meta Scrapper is a big counter to the Rifle build because either the CC is reflected or block or stability is running.
It was a fun experiences tho.
Those achievements would be great to be required for unranked queue only (since everybody try new stuff in unranked), so Legendary Backpack progresions could help Queue population for both game mode.
All is need is add condi def stat the same like phis def work for power dmg. Or add in condi dmg formula armor as reduce factor. We have
Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
So
Condi dmg done = Condition damage / (specific coefficient)*(target’s Armor)Specific coefficient must make condi dmg still playable but not so cancer like now.
Yeah, major RPG got magic resistance, poison resistance, fire resistance…
To casually transpose that to Gw2, Resistance should not be a Boon but it should be an attribute.
This would help to “define” more the bunker role… but somewhat Anet don’t want to have bunker anymore.
And, this would be a costly upgrade for all game mode to make.
It’s ways easier to make possible “viable” support that could cleanses for all, like it was before July 2016 patch. (or even better, before june 2015 patch — shoutbow war, dd ele and bunker guard where played for those reasons)
@Zintrothen
+1.
We have Vitality + Healing power to counter Conditions builds. But can’t have Toughness + Healing power to counter Power DPS build.
Why?
Cleric was strong with 900 tou and 1200 healing… then, toning it to 1050 healing and 560 toughness would work great I guess.
First stat: Power + Healing / Second stat: Toughness + whatever would be good for Support build in a power burst meta.
No, and that is based on class concepts not all classes should fill every roll or have the similar skill sets, that would make the classes very boring and exasperate the massive amount of power creep, would you want a warrior who has some of the best passive trait defenses in game to also be able to stealth or blast water fields making him even more powerful in the defensive department while still doing as much damage?
Look at Engie he has access to both of those skills and they are one of the strongest classes in game in terms of pvp.
Some classes were given those due to them having little to no strong passive defenses or base line defenses, Ele, and Thief. If anything they need to go back and redefine and separate the class concepts since a lot of them have been blurred with recent changes.
Since the last nerf, nobody would say scrapper is the best 1v1 meta classes.
Even if we bring water field + blast, we are much more efficient for supporting fights now, since tempest got DELETE from the game.
Warrior or Mesmer
If you got good pc log out to character screen and log in. You also can do this in variuos situations ex. beeing @ far and need protect lord asap at foefire etc.
Beware, some players could report you for cheating if you do that many times in a game.
The main problem for Eles ia that most of their utilities and traits are made for bruising. Why would they not give a class a proper damage mitigation not reliant to stats is something I fail to understand.
Sure, they have mist form, Obsidian Flesh and Arcane shield but they’re all on big cds. What they need to be proper DPS builds are not reduce damage skills and traits but complete damage mitigation with respective counters.
These are something that amulets will never be able to resolve because they’re nothing but stats and passive defense and zerk playstyle relies on active defense which is something that non bunker eles lack.
Going back to the OP.
Removing amulet will not solve the balanced problem.
The team need to balance all skills/traits scaling with attribute. Then give us the way to build our own attributes, like any other PVP MMORPG on the Market.
Anything other than that, is simply hiding the fact that the game is an unbalanced MESS.
This is made artificially with amulet.
If the skills scaling on attribute would be balanced across all classes, the spvp players could build their stats freely like any other MMORPG on the market.
We want to play a viable bruiser that require just as much effort ( we don’t mind some more effort respect to warrior and condi chronomancer which require none) as the rest.
We don’t care how many eles are used from esl teams, we don’t care what’s meta or not….we want to play what’s fun to play and we want to play it now, got it?
Yes sir, Mr. Tantrum sir, I’ll page the ArenaNet staff and have them serve up the easy mode damage dealer Ele this instant.
He is still right.
The game should be able to offer a fun experiences to casual and be competitive at high level.
It need BOTH to get GOOD.
But since the PVP team only take “PRO” recommandations, we are still in a BRUISERS meta where the best THIEVES (or power squishie DPS) play something ELSE because they don’t have BUNKER to support them anymore.
Thank you very much, Kappa!
If I recall correctly “correct me if I’m wrong” I remember you posting in a thread a while back about the time arguing with someone else making a claim in a thread talking about gw2 getting 10k concurrent viewers when in reality it was when sodapoppin just so happened to stream for a hour. So seeing these statements of you stretching the truth doesn’t surprise me.
Countless
WTS finals, Cologne 2015 had 11k concurrent viewers in the Guild Wars 2 channel, and peak daytime we’ll have streamers like Peachy, BogOtter, Helseth going all at the same time
Season 2 finals, the last competitive event peaked at 6k concurrent viewers, average 5k, in the Guild Wars 2 channel.
Apparently twitch views determines whether or not a game is dead.
Yeah that was my original comment, how lots is going on off stream on the competitive side. But “twitch numbers speak for themselves :-D”
That still falls in line with the average overall viewership of gw2 getting anywhere from 300-500 viewers daily, if it so happens that more than 1 popular streamer broadcast “which is not everyday by the way” then you’ll get up some where around 1500 viewers, and that’s being generous. On the low end you see numbers as low kitten-80 with a grand total of 12 people total streaming the game. And this is not counting tournament numbers by the way.
Tournament wise, the viewership have been consistently stagnant with the same number as before. When it comes to everything else, the numbers have actually dropped compared to before. Which goes back to my first post, the game is in a unhealthy state and the viewership reflects it. You have a pvp team that can’t “even if they wanted to” balance for pvp, the only thing they have control over is amulets and sigils, which act more like a desperation band aid attempt at fixing things than actual balance. You have a “competitive” scene that’s current being dictated by a team who’s primary concern is to balance for the entire game, leaving spvp in the minority. And you think things are improving when it comes to spvp? It’s time to wake up.
Countless
Countless is right about number of viewers.
If you compare it to competitive pvp games the numbers are 10x and +. (100x and some 1000x)
Anet decide to market this game for MMORPG casual players. So, pvp players don’t know a lot about what we are doing here.
Here is all the explanation and how to make it better:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/sPvP-needs-its-own-business-model/first
This would bring 100x more viewers.
…
At least they’ll have a somewhat of a monopoly in this on the market atm. A game where all the players that do not have the ability to play any Action MMO can, that requires more personal skill and reflexes then GW2 can main. On the causal scale GW2 is the highest MMO on the market.
GW2 don’t completely sux btw. It’s sPvP however is just complete trash compared to many many other games. It’s PvE is ok in Fractals and Raids, maybe some of the events. It’s WvW, well it looks like WvW will follow the same suit as sPvP game mode.
Well… How many spvp games you have played? How many spvp team have you been into?
How many tournament (amateur AG included) have you been?
Actually, combat mechanic of Gw2 is the best of the genre, all around. You can’t find a game with that kind of play without “grind” involved on the market, yet.
It’s a simple easy to soloq game, that is hard to master to go at high level. We are all kittening here, because we love this game and are passionate about it.
What about you? Do you have better alternative than gw2 spvp? I didn’t find any and I played most of the competition… so, I should be a trash casual in your eyes?
MISTCORE SPVP no REP required guild like to PUG with veterans for some great queue time.
We are recruiting players with 1000 or more games in either Rank or Team queue (old time queuer).
Don’t have enough rank game? We accept 2000 or more game into unranked + rank queue.
Your win ratio, should be better than 50%.
Those requirements are there to remove Trolls account to trash MMR of MISTCORE. (many harcore players have second troll account to trash reputation, mmr and fun for other guild)
I am sorry, if you are genuinely bad (with a lower 50% win ratio) the veterans of MISTCORE don’t want to play with super bad players.
Being able to use TS and speak some english for rotations is required.
Send pvp stats screenshot through imgur or other image sharing website in private message with FULL ACCOUNT_NAME.XXXX.
We still peak at 15 per night in the off ranked season. 80 actives on the week (off season)
MISTCORE veterans players that had great competitive/team experiences in the past or present are waiting for you.
We host some AG champions and Top players “killer” ranked Challenger.
Our Rank system is all based on FACTS (your screenshots).
No Bullkitten Rank for all (my friends included).

2 More new NA player on the list.
1 EU team looking for more.
Make sPvP team GROW!
Do you guys think something is being done at Anet to fix this situation or that we’ll have to ditch the class for another 6 months?
The easiest path would be to crafted another tanky amulet that is less powerful than the Cleric one but more suit to the Ele playstyle.
A full skill rework for ele could only be done when they know what is working and not into pvp.
Scepter/Dagger build was something with Valk ammy in 2013, got nerfed and wait 1 year before dd ele got buffed. 1 year without meta build.
So, it could be longer than 6 months.
It’s pretty obvious what should be done.
-Add a amulet for every possible stat combination.
-Properly balance profession skills. It’s pretty obvious what will happen.
-ANET will continue to ignore obvious top meta professions that are overpowered because they’re popular.
-ANET will continue to ignore obvious bottom tier professions that are underpowered because they’re unpopular.
Why it’s obvious?
They did nerf Tempest Ele META, so your first point is not working.
They did buff guardian shield/mace/sword that were unpopular.
All this in the last patch.
Duh… What I am doing right now. Hard to lose old habits I guess.
Huh, weird, I could have sworn I read this exact same title over a year ago (and two years before that)…
I wonder why PvP still isn’t dead yet, despite people shouting doom’n’gloom for the past 3 years.
Maybe it’s not dying? Maybe people are just dramatic?
These kind of posts are always funny to me. They take something completely out of context and immediately assume a defensive position.
Thinking that MMOs in the current year are not losing players each day is very delusional. Noone is talking about the game being completely dead because that’s only possible if the publisher closes down the servers. Even the most niche online games have their tiny dedicated fans still playing. Comparing the current GW2 pvp population to it’s prime numbers however, you’ll in no doubt see a very big difference especially if you actively play and pay attention to the people you get matched with.A-net made a statement less than a year ago stating that the PvP population was at a high. I didn’t try to take the OP’s title “completely out of context and immediately assume a defensive position.”
You can read it yourself. I took the title as-is, because that is how it is worded. After that, I made reasonable points and asked respectable questions. Just because they go against the OP’s statement doesn’t inherently make them defensive. That would be a mind-set choice.
If only tone could be portrayed accurately through text :\
Anet never released the numbers. They can come out and say “Pvp is doing fine, numbers are going up!” – but as long as they refuse to let us know the exact numbers these are just empty statements for marketing purposes.
Then don’t forget they probably count everyone including daily custom arena rank farmers as PvPers too. Whenever I play a ranked or even unranked match there is at least 1 person I know, and in a game with a healthy population that should not be the case, but Anet wouldn’t know because they don’t play their game, instead they hide behind their purposefully misinterpreted metrics chanting “we’re doing fine, we’re doing fine”.
To resume short: Successful game release their numbers.
In unranked, Capricorn, 4 running and capping home base and staying there …. ALL the time, every match…
I’m matched with very new players, why? I have over 2k matches played, dragon rank and I just don’t get it.
New Players got Average MMR when that start.
Many did ask to lower the starting MMR of new account. But Sales dept, think that it’s good business to get main account, buy new account to feel better.
It’s not about skills bro, it’s all about where you stand on the MMR scale. (mainly because pver population is 2000x bigger than spvper pop)
Argument for average starting MMR is that their MMR will converge faster to the proper value. Which is correct.
Doesn’t stop it from being a kitten.
Then put them at 35%, so the average players are less annoyed by it?
Good one, will raised anyway.
It’s harder to raise from 0%, then the sweet compromise would be the third of the way, not half of it.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/How-many-are-keen-for-S4/first#post6245573
“We’re still determining the scope of the project, but I do want to be clear that it’s unlikely that these changes will be in for S4. Once we get a bit further in the dev process I’ll see if I can give an update on our thoughts/direction.”
Please… Warhorn is still something that need to be “instant” and with lower timer.
You forgot about that weapon and it need more LOVE than anything on Ele.
Now, with mender it’s only 3. Druid, Scrapper and Guard.
Mender is not even a healer amulet. 560 healing power means not that much. Why using that instead of Paladin? At least you could crits and kill faster while still giving Aegis, block, regens, protection…
Guild Wars 1 : Monk… well yes, but many did dual classes Monk with Warrior to get more “hit”. We can’t dual classes in Gw2.
Since all other do, ammy are a patch, to fix or conceal the real problem. They where not able to balanced all the skills scaling with attribute properly. They do balanced based on feeling… while other company made system of simulation (
operational research —> basic math learn at the university) and analyse the data to balanced things up.tl;dr Mender is probably fine for guadian, but it’s not a proven META. The best comp stack 5 bruisers to win since [RIP] enter the scene with the bruisers comp. It was easy to build for support before, now for most of the classes it’s pointless. Build diversities just got 30% deleted (again).
@Jourdelune.
- Monk had to dual class with warrior for the stances ( bonneti etc).
Not to give em toughness, only the shield set was giving armor on stats(thats why you had 4 weapon swap).Menders are actually:
+1050 Power
+560 Precision
+560 Vitality
+1050 Healing PoweSo I dont see where you got your 560 healing power..
It has been proven MeTa in the past Seasons and there is a support wich is Druid.
I gues you are wrong on this one..But you are right that Bguad was taking out cause D/D ele bring much more to the table and it is still the same nowdays for Support Dh/Guard we get outshine by druid and engi.
Thank you for fixing my wrong assumption about healing power.
Even with healing power, like you said. Druid and Engi are better versus Thief/REV.
But also, they bring constantly more damage in 2v2 situations. Since on a three point strats, the 2v2 make you wins games… going for a squishie support in team fights (3+) is way harder.
Timing block, aegies and blind versus a cluster mess of spammed skills is not skillfull play, it’s “pray and play” at best. (chain the peels the best you can, in hope you don’t get hit by unblockabled burst, unblockabled CC or boon strips/convert) So, even if mender damage > cleric damage… the sustain versus POWER build is so LOW, that it can be reliable to do the hard work. (speaking at equal skill level)
It would be a kinda fun experiment to bring it back for a week, but I don’t think Anet would do it. It would also be interesting to see a queue for core specs only. I recall a lot of people agree that balance was at it’s best a little bit before the expansion pack hit.
It’d probably split the PvP base up some more however (unless literally everyone just wanted to queue for core spec only =P).
Well since HoT, they removed Celestial, Soldiers, Sentinel, Cleric amulet…
Those ammy where the META.
So, if they remove HoT for a week, they should give back those ammy.
More, they did nerf some CORE skills and traits to try to balanced HoT mess. So your memories are only, the real thing there.
The greatest MISTAKE Anet has ever made, next to making series 1 Legendaries sell-able… was the removal of Solo Q…. If they were to add that option back, it would fix a lot of headaches and improve the quality of matches…
Here is a very very very rough sketch of what I’m talking about
The greatest mistake they made was to put a good PVP game into a Casual MMORPG.
MMORPG player based is around 30 millions, while PVP moba game are 300 millions.
Catering to the MOBA genre (what spvp do) would had bring 10x more players and more opportunities for different game mode and queue type.
Since the IMMO bug from Taunt took 1 year to get fix…
I am happy to have a Team.
I don’t care about classes or build anymore.
They nerfed all of my meta builds since released anyway.
They removed more than 80% of the builds viability until the top 300. Man it was fun to play whatever you want and be good with it. Now, that’s not working anymore.
June 2015 Patches did killed Builds viabilities and varieties. Even if Colin said they will not. With false promise like Elite spec will be on par with Core spec. And working on removal of options while they should had work to give us MORE.
Paying customers NEED MORE options, not less.
I feel I play a LAME game compare to Gw2 CORE before June patch.
Magi amulet is not good for any classes.
No damage at all.
Remember cleric bunker guard in 2013?
It goes off meta in April 2014 because dd ele was able to support/cleanse more the group than B. Guard, with more damage.
Magi amulet is like old B.Guard. Bot enough damage in spvp means your 1v1 or 2v2 need a +1 to be viable. This means you are -1 elsewhere.
You can only achieve this with a bad two point stats with 2 really fast immortal squishies dps roamer.
Mender is a bit better for damage, but the sustain is quite low.
Not really, Ill explain my POV on Bunker Guard/DH.
- Menders:
- We apply more pressure in teamfights (cause the critchance), we are better vs condition(cause of healthpool), the healing power dsnt matter that much since theres barely a difference between those 2. Now we are weak to big burst if out of cD. (If a thief + Rev spike you)
- Magi:
- Alots of Crit chance, but no power. (good for sigils, but uber bad pressure)
Nice vitality wich makes you better vs conditions. The healing power dsnt matter much since the difference is really not that big. Same Sustain has menders rune and same weakness. Overall bring less on the table.- Cleric:
- No crit chance but same power( less pressure in TF), We were a better fit vs Zerker build/comp. The healing power dsnt matter at all, since the difference between those 2 are way 2 small to be important. The weakness of cleric was conditions spam cause of low healthpool.
Overall the skillcap to play Support class’s ( Cause bunker is dead) is higher.
And it feels way more rewarding playing a support class this way & in Guildwars 1, Monks were super squissh. Actually as far as I remember, in everygame the healer is always squish.
Well, I agree only at 10%.
Bunker Mender Guardian are “okay” at best. They don’t bring the same damage compare to bruisers, so at high level with stacked TEAM, your support in 2v2 would get way harder to wins fights.
But well, okay Guardian is not hit like other classes to support because of Aegis/blinds/block.
Magi don’t bring any damage. What did put B. Guard off meta in 2014 compared to ELE was damage. No team would be able to beat 5 bruisers (astral authority) with a comp with Magi.
All 9 classes could had build for Cleric and be able to support teams. Some build (tempest, guard, scrapper, mesmer) where better with it, but everyone could casually be support.
Healers in the MMORPG are usually wearing PLATE armor. Dungeon and Dragon cleric have plate. Everquest, Asheron Call’s, Dark Age of Camelot, Vanguard… Cleric just don’t do enough damage, like the cleric amulet did.
But most of all, why are we pigeon hole with amulet, in the first place?
All other MMORPG PVP give the abilities to FREELY build your stats, items, like you want.
Since all other do, ammy are a patch, to fix or conceal the real problem. They where not able to balanced all the skills scaling with attribute properly. They do balanced based on feeling… while other company made system of simulation (
operational research —> basic math learn at the university) and analyse the data to balanced things up.
tl;dr Mender is probably fine for guadian, but it’s not a proven META. The best comp stack 5 bruisers to win since [RIP] enter the scene with the bruisers comp. It was easy to build for support before, now for most of the classes it’s pointless. Build diversities just got 30% deleted (again).
Condi’s carry scrubs. End. Of. Story. Stop covering it up like its some super skillfull talented way to play the game. Its a autistic kids dream build, smash keys in the general direction of your foe. WHAT?!? he blocked? who cares fart out another set of condis all over the place its not like you ever actually run out of applicication. So if we play power should our whole build be condi removal? cause thats the only argument im hearing here at all. Thats all i got for this, im sure the condi pros are on the way to defend there pro status!!! Happy hunting folks!
Wait… Anet thought it was bunker support that were carrying scrubs. They make sure to DELETE the possibilities to all classes to have a support build.
Only Scrapper, Druid and DH can play support now.
Balance is awful. Build diversity is awful. Ridiculous changes patch to patch completely removing builds and or classes from the meta. Condition builds still being brain dead and far too rewarding; this is on top of double dipping for offensive or defensive stats vs. power based specs.
You can pretty much roll any class right now other than possibly ele and be incredibly effective. Worst case scenario 7 out of 8 proffs are viable at the highest tier which is not bad at all. Especially when you look at a game like Overwatch, which taking the esports scene by storm, only seeing about 12 out of its 22 professions being regularly picked at the high end of play (~54%). Balance is in a pretty good place in my opinion.
I do like the game, this post was made because i fail to see the reason why the game
refuses to grow despite having a generous prize pool and an easily accessible scene. Talented gamers can pick this game up and likely be playing at the pro league level within a few months given the appropriate circumstances. Conquest is a challenging and engaging game mode when playing 5v5 with comms. Yet here we are. What is going wrong?
1- Overnerfed without much concern about their player based.
2- Buy to win — HoT did put so many passive, aoe and CC that the game is easy to push any button and in any combo and still be able to do TONS of damage.
3- Support to “tournament” from Anet is bad. It can take more than 2 month to get your rewards from them. Players should be able to make tournament and send the reward right after it.
4- Anet is a MMORPG that don’t take care of their PVP players. It’s kinda hard to swallow, because Gw1 was the best PVP game for action rpg. They had created the foundation on how to make pvp games. LOL replay are basically, Gw1 replay. Spectating mode… and stuff like that. Arena Net… Should now be Casual MMO Net.
5- Removing options to a player base is not good. Removing many options over and over, alienated the customers.
6- Having only 8 build Viable over a 1 000 000 of possibilities show they can’t balanced their game properly.
7- Not being able to talk about things, because when you speak up, you got punished is hard to “pay” for that services again. I would like to give more details on this, but can’t because of rules. Many positive leaders that was making TEAM alive, simply didn’t like how they were treat by Anet. Without Leaders with Strong Knowledge of the Game, it’s hard for the “team” scene to grow.
8- It’s a team based game but not enough team to sustain it.
9- It’s a hard game to learn. Noobs are put with average players and don’t like to get killed over an over. Noobs should learn with noobs, but their first 20 games are a stomp fest because they are paired with good players. This affect the match-making system not in a positive way.
10- Then good players find the game too easy. Because they don’t meet other good players on the field. So when a new PVP game come online, hundreds good goes there and half come back.
And way much more…
Templar’s Amulet:
1050 Power
1050 Healing Power
560 toughness
560 Concentrationyeah i think they (anet) would deem this tanky because it has both toughness and healing power.
cleric 1200 healing 900 toughness
crusaders 1050 toughness 560 healing
both were removed because both have both healing and toughness
seems like having both healing and toughness is a big no no for them (anet)
…
Crusader had too much toughness compare to Templar.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crusader_Amulet
+1050 Power
+1050 Toughness
+560 Ferocity
+560 Healing Power
So probably running the Templar version would be a more “balanced approach” to help certain classes to be able to do their support work.
In Gw1, Monk was squishie and support but… it was able to EVADE a lot more than Tempest or Necro.
Crusaders had cheeze build with engi (firearm), revenant (2x fury) and ranger (lot of free crits in markmanship???).
So with Ferocity, their damage was too much for the sustain they had.
Since Magi make your team losing versus 5 bruisers (and we have more than 5 bruisers on the META), without something more bruiser like “support”, it will be hard to comp with that.
Anet turned everyone into damaging bruisers (we needed it imo) so that technically everyone has a chance to be a 5th pick, balances willing.
So we needed everyone to be able to do everything, because roles are boring and kitten balance, I guess?
With the removal of bunker support on a balanced comp, the next thing will be full conditions.
When you remove Rock, scissor will eat paper each time.
It’s why Sayian said they want us to be all bruiser. Support was used to cover squishies dps bodies.
