It works with a landline. You get a voice message.
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95446157-Securing-Your-Account-With-Authentication
Other than that you can also use a desktop authenticator like WinAuth. Directions here.
If you choose not to use any of those options you will continue to see the message.

Like I said unless you really need the character slot and don’t want to buy a new one there is really no need to delete it. Park it at a rich node or at the end of a JP for some quick loot. I have 11 abandoned characters parked in different locations for just that. It takes me like 1 minute per character to log in and mine/jp chest and is just extra stuff.
If you invested that much you would be better off keeping it for annual gifts and extra storage. Plus you could park it at a rich node some place for some quick extra mats to sell on the TP. So that way it isn’t a total loss.

I thought players that got permanently banned could not post on the forums?
With those 3 separate entrances to the building and the raid portal image it certainly looks like an entrance to raids. I think Anet said they are committed to 3 raid wings. Note the middle door has a different look because perhaps it is the future access for the current raid. Again my guess is they are removing the raid portal from VB and putting it in LA to avoid raid players taking map space from those doing events.
They committed to four.
My mistake then I was going by the HoT website and the wiki. I must have not seen the news about 4 wings. Thanks for keeping me informed.
Players who purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will get access to our first raid, with the first of the three associated raid wings to be activated shortly after launch.

Do you have any idea of how much time it takes to sort out this kind of things? I submitted a ticket providing all the infos I could.
Most tickets are answered in less than 72 hours. If for some reason this does not occur you can post your ticket number in the sticky thread at the top of this forum for review.

Maybe they are moving the raid portal out of VB so that people hanging out preparing for a raid don’t take up space in a map where players are trying to do events. I have seen several complaints since the raid was released about players waiting to raid taking up space in VB.

I imagine it is the “slavenam” part that might have resulted in the name change message. Anyway, you will have to contact support for an answer to your problem.
Yeah and then you start watching the movie and 3/4 into it a message shows up stating they have suspended production of the rest of the movie but don’t worry they already have a team working on the sequel.
Multiple payment methods for a transaction?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892
I do not think that is possible. From my experience buying gems there is no option to choose a backup payment provider should the balance of the purchase exceed what the first payment option can match. In other words say you pay with card A and card A can only pay a maximum of $50. There is no option during the purchase procedure to select card B to cover the remainder of the balance.
I always pay via PayPal direct from my bank so this is never an issue for me. But It seems the way payment selection is set up from what I have seen you will not be able to select a separate billing option to cover any left over cost.
If you use PayPal I think there may be a way you can add a prepaid gift card to your account wallet as a means of payment and then you can use what other method you normally use to pay as back up once the balance on the prepaid card has run out to cover the remainder. I’m not 100% sure though. Probably best to contact PayPal as well and ask in that case.

In all seriousness there is this interview a popular GW2 streamer did with Josh about the future of SAB. Maybe that will answer your questions.

If you are talking about maybe what people say as far as a guild or such, I think it usually means Oceanic players. For example players in Australia.
There was a recent article that showed every time someone starts another thread about SAB being permanent Anet is thinking about removing it permanently. Here is the link to the article.

Sorry to go a bit off topic but I think this is an important reminder to maintain the integrity of this thread. Veronica I think you should read this quote from Gaile.
- This is a very nice initiative, but I would suggest that those who are gift recipients not “go back to the well” repeatedly. “Thanks for the gift(s), please give me more” is a little OTT, doncha think?
This is at least the third time I have seen you ask for stuff in this thread. It looks like you go back and delete the previous posts so it doesn’t look like you are asking for too much. Kind of against the spirit of the thread is it not?
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
It is mentioned on their Heart of Thorns website probably because you have to have HoT to play it.
https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/
They made a sub domain for HoT as a product. Why they don’t have a link to the HoT website in the top menu of the main GW2 site I don’t know. It seems like that would be appropriate.

There are some mixed reports about getting a refund of HoT and keeping the core game in these threads but that was not long after launch. If those reports are true I seriously doubt it still applies now if you have had HoT since launch.

You know what, maybe this is it. After last year maybe ANet decided that April fools was too much of a minefield if people are going to be “triggered” by an April fools joke and an airplane crash a week or two beforehand, on the other side of the world from them. Those people raised a huge fuss and forced ANet to apologize for being disrespectful. Sab is now a yearly festival at end of March/beginning of April. That may be ANet’s way of bypassing April fools and possible future controversy.
And that’s too bad. I enjoyed those pranks. I remember the “outrage” from the bobble head thing too. People complaining of seizures, migraines, loose bowels, joint pain, hair loss and just about any other condition imaginable just because they didn’t like it.
If they made SAB permanent Anet would probably have to spend some time adjusting the rewards again to not make it a total skin farm that most complete in a month or two. I’d rather Anet focus more on LS3 and improving the expansion they sold. I think SAB fans are a highly vocal minority and it would be a waste of developers resources to accommodate that.
Noooo ;( what are my chances of getting 1 weapon and the backpack – I will eave it too the professionals after that…is it timed? because if it is, im going to have to crack open my wallet and pay inflated Auction prices if so
I suggest you read some guides on Dulfy.

So if the copper fed worked at the same level as the lowest tier crude salvage kit those using it would actually miss out on extra mats and upgrades they could sell. It would reduce the value of the tool.
The upgrades are not worth selling. They’re not worth the inventory space or time it takes to find a merchant to sell to.
The green runes and sigils aren’t worth the inventory space they take up. Not even for people with eight 20-slot boxes. What is so hard to understand about that?
I’m sorry you struggle to manage your inventory. As a bit of advice you should never salvage while in an area where you can’t quickly find vendors, TP, bank, etc. because salvaging can quickly fill up your inventory. Let me explain to you my routine then. I go out in game, do this and that for a few hours. Maybe some fractals, PvE stuff and what not. Then I use my Royal Terrace pass. Once there I start salvaging. Then I deposit materials, hop to the TP and sell anything I don’t want to keep that is worth something. Then I go to the vendor and sell off all those “worthless” sigils and runes. I’ve done this probably thousands of times. It takes maybe 4-5 minutes of my time. I don’t even have full bag slots with 20 slot bags. 7 copper is better than no copper. What is so hard to understand about that? If they are worthless to you just delete them. Or send them to me. I’ll take them all day.
I’m a penny pincher and that has not only helped me succeed in real life but has also allowed me to make substantial amounts of gold in game. Because every single copper made adds up over time. You would be surprised how much you can have if you take advantage of every opportunity. If I get change from a store and there are 4 pennies I won’t just toss them on the ground because the weigh my pocket down.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
Yes, happy you are to sell those runes/sigils. I’d rather not get Gossamer over Silk. Or the higher leathers, though those aren’t so bad now.
No need to get upset, we each prefer what we prefer.
I don’t see anyone upset. I’m just saying the return over time is much better with the copper fed at basic kit level than if it were at the crude level. Those sigils and runes you complained about in your first post in this thread do not take the place of other mats salvaged. They are just bonus loot. I’ll take them all day. Send me yours if you don’t want them that much.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I’d rather it didn’t. I’d rather as little chance for the next tier of materials, as possible.
But, to each it’s own.
That is not how it works. The lowest tier salvage kit, the one you want it to work with is the crude salvage kit and does not give a chance for a next tier material. The chance of rarer materials is 0%
The copper fed works at the same level as a basic salvage kit. 10% chance of rarer materials and 20% for upgrades. Since you said you wished it worked at the lowest tier of salvaging that means at crude level with 0% chance of rarer materials. So you would not even have a chance at next tier mats.
Exactly.
Edit for incorrect information. I’d rather have no chance for rarer materials, or Sigils/Runes.
LOL okay, you would rather lose stuff you can sell, rarer mats and sigils/runes. Sorry I disagree. If they change the copper fed to crude level I think you will see a lot of angry people. Like I said, I’ve probably made enough coin off selling those worthless runes and sigils to vendor to pay for my copper fed. It isn’t one or the other. You still get the mats you would get from a crude kit plus a chance at rarer mat/sigil/runes. Like you say though, to each their own. If you enjoy lost coin opportunity that is fair enough.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)

(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I wish it performed on the lowest tier of salvaging. Then, I wouldn’t receive all those Sigils and Runes.
Those sigils and runes are still worth coin even if they can only be sold at vendor for very little. Heck I have probably sold enough of them to vendor since I got it to come close to the gold cost to buy the copper fed for gold to gem exchange. I just wish the sigils and runes would not go into my craft material bag when I salvage. It makes it harder to sort.
Every copper counts and adds up over time. I’d rather they still drop sigils and runes. Like I said every copper adds up over time.
Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: JustTrogdor.7892
I will not. My decision has nothing to do with the recent news on legendary weapons as I couldn’t care less about them. I pre-purchased within minutes of the expansion being announced and offered for sale (big mistake) and well before they added the character slot bonus. I wanted access to the weekend betas. In the betas I was like, “meh.. hope it gets better.” Then it went live and I spent about 20-30 hours in HoT. Enough to unlock gliding, my Mesmer elite specialization and poke around the maps and events. I hate the HoT maps, events and the insane mob density. It just isn’t fun to explore and I found the entire experience just aggravating. That’s just my opinion. I now only play in core maps. For the next expansion I’ll sit back and wait a month or so to see how it really turns out before I buy no matter what the pre-purchase bonuses are.
And leave the Mac client alone until they can release new and steady content, then maybe resume the Mac client as a side project until we get a fully working mac version but this shouldn’t be priority.
As posted above Anet is working/testing a Mac OpenGL client. I do not know if these are Anet staff doing it in their own free time or if they were hired to do so (a Mac team was promised for a few years when the Mac forum was still open). That stated, the devs working on making the client compatible with Mac/OpenGL may not necessarily have the same skill set to work on content updates. Perhaps they were hired just for the reason to make the Mac client work again. Taking them off that project would not necessarily mean they can just go work on content updates for the game as whole.
The fact is Anet advertises a client for Mac that they say works when it is well known it does not. It appears since they are testing a new client they are concerned with fixing that. If they complete the project or not who knows. But it appears at least on the surface they are interested in doing so. Once again, those working on the conversion to OpenGL may not be able to work on general game content updates as I imagine that is a different skill set.
I’m sorry if the fact that they are working to fix the broken client makes you feel like Anet is not working on what they should be. I imagine the many people that use Macs and bought the game because it has been advertised to work on Macs may disagree.
The Mac Forum is no longer open because it’s no longer being worked on.
Can you give me a source on that? Did you even read my post above? I’ll quote it again.
Testing/working on it.
When we shipped the game originally we used a third-party shell to ‘host’ the Windows version. While this got the product out the door on Mac there are some things we haven’t been able to do to make it a true Mac application. We are actively experimenting with getting native code that runs directly on the Mac with OpenGL etc. I don’t know how long it will take to make it “real” but I can say that this week we finally got it compiling, linking, and starting up on a Mac before it crashes at the login screen.
We don’t have much to say about it. That’s often why we are silent. I don’t want to give you all hope of something only to take it away if it doesn’t work out.
Also here is another red post stating they are working on it.
Hello,
We know the Cider wrapper isn’t the greatest. One of the reasons we don’t tend to respond to a lot of Mac specific posts is because an overwhelming majority of them are shared with Windows users. I do want to assure you all that we are actively fixing bugs on all clients. Some are quick to fix, some take a fair bit of time. Please try to be patient and keep submitting those reports!
Thanks!

It’s happening in other places in the world, people should take notice of that aswell, pray for a better and safer world for everyone.
This. Just over a week ago a bomb killed 37 people and wounded over 100 others in Turkey.

I guess it did not get as much attention due to the location. We should all hope for an end to this madness and pray for those killed and the families that suffer because of it.
We should also pray for the safety of those that are placing themselves on the front line to fight the terrorists that commit such acts.

That is what I was thinking when I saw the Human, Norn, and Sylvari male version of this outfit. Not sure I would go so far as to call it a fail, but it certainly isn’t very appealing to me. At least they separated the outfit from the glider this time instead of making it a bundle. Not that I will be buying either.

An idea… Perhaps join a RP guild if you have not already or start your own. Then you can go to the guild hall to do your RP because it is like an instance. So in essence it would be the RP instance you are talking about. No mobs, no events to scale up, no non-RPers to harass you and so forth. Of course that does not address your other suggestions about message suppression and what not. Just an idea.

I will not. I did the pre purchase the day the expansion was announced. My mistake. Having done so and seeing how HoT turned out I’ll wait a month or so after release for reviews before I decide to buy. I will never buy another product from Anet before it was released and received feedback from customers. I’ll let you guys jump on the grenade for me.
Why do so many people seem excited at the prospect of GW2/HoT failing? You do understand that if GW2 starts to fail in short time there will be no GW2 to play. If you are here posting then I would think you would not like a product you paid for to be shut down completely, see CoH.
Perhaps you are hoping that failure means some dramatic change in the game that caters to your preference. The corporate world does not always work like that. They often do not hang on to products that under perform over time even if sales a marginal. They might do some house cleaning of staff first (not saying that is what happened to Colin) in hope of some change in performance but I’ve seen that fail many times as well. In many cases as far is investing that is a huge red flag.
What you should be hoping for instead is some acknowledgment from Anet that they are working to improve the current product as well as expand into future products. Wait.. Mike O’Brien pretty much said that during the AMA on reddit.

You need to update this in the HoT forum and the sticky there saying it is closed. Many people don’t read this forum.
