Roll one and play it. If you have fun then you have answered your question. No one here can tell you what is fun for you. There really isn’t a risk in trying it out unless you are maxed on character slots and need to buy another to try it out.

Because the payoff between 100% MF and 300% MF is almost nil.

Every +50% or so I noticed a general uptick in the quality of loot. Between 100 and 300 there is a large difference in what you get from drops overall.

But you probably spent more buying blues and greens to salvage for MF than you will get from items that drop and you sell.

There is a reason that I don’t want to just silence these topics.
I think that someone who has never posted on here might one day put down the post that does in fact bring a new fresh idea to the table. If you just shut down every entry before it gets discussion, even negative, would be bad since you never know when someone comes up with the idea that unites the community and moves the idea forward.

I do concede that these topics get repeats and the discussion seems stale but as long as its out there there is the chance someone who has never shared their opinion on it may. I don’t think you should just decide what we can and can’t discuss either. If the topic gets out of hand and name slinging gets done use the proper channel of action to fix the problem.

My point is these are topics have been done to death over and over. If someone thinks that, for example, “PvE duels please” is a topic Anet has never thought of then that is not true. The topics I listed have no value when they are suggested again and again. They only make people debate and in reality the debates have no weight. They only push other topics down the page.

“Mounts!” – Anet, “Hey team this guy suggested mounts. I know it is the 50th thread on that but we never thought about it before. There are people that don’t want them but let’s see who wins the debate and act on it.”

It does no good to allow these threads to get into debate and push other less conventional suggestions down the page. I know you are pro mount but really, tell me honestly, how many threads and debates on the topic do you think will make a difference? None. If you think for a second that Anet has not considered mounts, dueling, /inspect and so forth in the game already you are mistaken.

Threads on these topics serve no good but to polarize players that probably would get along well with each other in game. They are beat to death and at this point are not suggestions anymore but just suggestion forum fodder. Threads in other forums have been closed/merged for the same reason.

Suggestions are things for Anet they may not have thought about. Changes that could enhance the game. The list I made are things that have certainly already been considered by Anet. It is like if I went to McDonalds and suggest they serve McRib all year long. Oh, and I have not eaten fast food in over 6 years.

The suggestion forum is great as it allows players to bring topics that might enhance GW2. However there are a few topics that I feel should be closed by moderators due to overkill/redundancy. These topics take up space in the forum and often lead to disagreements and unhealthy discussion. These are topics so typical to other MMOs and are not really mind blowing suggestions. These are topics that I am sure that Anet has already considered and may or may not implement despite discussions here. For example mounts. I’m sure that Anet knows what mounts are. It isn’t like a mount thread is going to make them say, “Wow! I never heard of mounts. Let’s look in to this.” Instead these topics just turn into nasty debates as if the better debate will sway Anet. As if each post on either side of the debate are part of a vote.

Here are topics I suggest get closed for the sake of the community of players:

Duels
Mounts
/Inspect
Raids
Race change

(feel free to add more)

So perhaps a friendly close thread with something like, “This topic has already been suggested many times and will now be closed. Thank you for your post.”

How did you submit your request? I submitted a support ticket and explained that I was informed duplicates of infinite tools could receive a refund. I received a response stating that if I deleted the duplicate soul bound tools I did not want I would receive a refund. I had already converted them to account bound after reading the patch notes so I asked if this was an issue. I was informed it wasn’t and to delete the duplicates I didn’t want and inform them as soon as I did. I did so and received a refund in gems.

Perhaps you should update your ticket explaining the same. I’m sure if you do so and you meet the criteria you will get your gems back as well.

Nope, characters are bound to account. Also a bit nit-picky but technically you are not supposed to share your account even if you are sitting there with the person. The two combined is why transferring that character won’t be a possibility.

I just wanted to post my positive experience with this and gratitude. This is one of those things Anet did not have to do but shows great appreciation for the customer. After seeing Gaile’s post stating this was an option I jumped on it. Within 24 hours I had a response and less than 72 hours later I had a significant gem refund. The support team handled my request in a friendly manner. I’m very happy about the this. Not only are the tools I kept account bound now but Anet did something they didn’t have to do and refunded me for my duplicates.

I agree. If someone cannot manage their real world money then the last thing they need to do is spend it on in game items. Well, I suppose the LAST thing they should do is go to Las Vegas or date my ex-girlfriend.

There are direct pay options though. Most check cards can be used to buy gems which take the money directly out of the checking account. There is also the Paypal option which can do the same and is what I use. Lastly, as you mentioned gem cards are another option.

Compete against what? What do bank slots and inventory slots have to do with competing against what ever it is you are competing with? My bank slots are maxed and I have yet to see any extra skills or stat buffs from it.

Play the game, earn gold, buy bank slots / bags. Last I checked you didn’t need inventory space or bags to compete. Oh, here is a tip, clean out some of the stuff in your inventory you don’t need and make more coin with the added bonus of more open inventory slots. Bring you compete on!

I can assure you they are working on this for those that bought duplicates and want gem refunds. I received a response within 48 hours and after a second question I had I received a second response within 12 hours. So I can tell you they are working on it. I imagine there has been a rather high demand for this specific request so as Gaile posted originally the responses might take a little longer.

Also I would like to say thanks to Anet. It’s awesome that you did this for those of us that bought multiple tools. Not only are they no longer soul bound but they are account bound as well plus a refund. I see this as something Anet didn’t have to do but it is really appreciated and a good way to show appreciation for the customer.

Karma is tough to come by these days. Unless you run across something you really want save it. You may want it for a legendary or something else you may need it for some day. Who knows if precursor crafting ever comes about you may need it for that.

No, if it’s soul bound it can sit in the bank but you can’t put it in a bag of a character it isn’t soul bound to.

Well I don’t know about the rest of the armors but a guild backpack if you have access to one would be a good start because of the look.

It is indeed not fair to say that people in general would be disrespectful but the sad reality is there are a group of players that would. A good example is the music instruments. Most people that have them play them as they were meant to be. Unfortunately many other people decided to use them as a trolling tool. In turn Anet responded by offering a mute option. Many of the players that used their instruments as intended were not happy but it was a small group messed it up for them. If there is a way in the game for people to troll then you can bet some people will do it. I’d prefer not to introduce more ways into the game for people to act like nimrods. At the same time I would like to see a way for people to PvE duel that would fit their needs while minimizing the likely hood for others to abuse it.

I understand where you are coming from, although many places would make very neat dueling areas. In fact there would more than likely end up being designated area that people go to duel. Like in the middle of Divinitys Reach or at the Lions Arch fountain. I get it, but I would really enjoy being able to duel my friends outside of sPvP with my gear I worked for. I happen to know many people whom I consider very good players and they mostly play in WvW and would like to duel without the constraints of sPvP such as 4 sec reveal, traits being different, etc. The rules are different with PvE armor and runes and being able to practice that against my friends as apposed to randoms I don’t know would be amazing. Especially when randoms are rarely as good as the people I know and play with on my home server. We have actually had people change servers for a week so we could all duel each other before.

And that is where a designated area that only allowed dueling would come in. Say where the Pavilion is in Divinity’s Reach. When I discuss a designated or instanced area for dueling I mean being able to use PvE gear and rules. There you and your friends could have fun practicing and testing builds. I think having it in an environment such as that would appease those that want to PvE duel and those that don’t want to see it spilled out into populated areas. They could even incorporate it into the LFG tool if people wanted pick up matches when their friends were not around or to duel a specific profession. “LFD L80 Memser” Maybe that would be me.

Dueling/PvP breeds a toxic environment. At no fault of the people that would use a feature admirably, there are many that would not.

• Trash talk would spill over into /map and /say in excess. Unfortunately many people don’t understand the spirit of competition and think it is necessary to spew garbage when they win or lose. They have watched too much TV and think that competition involves trash talk. Sure there is a block feature but I would rather not have to keep clicking block every time I’m in game.
• Open world dueling would most likely take place in areas that would be an annoyance, specifically for newer players. Think about it. Where are people going to duel? They are not going to duel in areas of the map where there is a chance of accidentally tagging a neutral mob or taking agro from mobs. They are going to be roaming around areas in Queensdale looking for fights. They certainly won’t be roaming around L80 areas. Additionally other safe areas like small uncontested towns are where vendors are and such. I’d rather not have weapon effect spam all over my screen while I’m doing something at a vendor, craft station etc.
• People already complain that many maps aside from the starter areas are barren. Will people really be roaming around those less populated areas looking for duels? No. See above.

I’m sure many in these threads would use a dueling feature in a respectful manner. Unfortunately other many will not. Some people already can’t handle themselves in PvE when it comes to champ farming and what not. Open world dueling would just turn chat channels into total garbage. When people say they want dueling to test builds with their friends/guild members I really don’t see the issue with having it in a designated area since you will have to meet that person some place anyway.

Maybe a dumb question but when the person harassed you in game did you use the in game report feature? That is what you need to do in the event of harassment. Select report and choose verbal abuse from the drop down menu. Anet will take it from there and act accordingly.

There isn’t an age slider so I would only be able to make characters that look like me from many years ago. There isn’t an ugly slider either. If both were options during character creation I’d probably be able to make a character that looks exactly like me. As it stands now all my human characters look like they are on the way to a Justin Biebers concert. Someone said that the characters are suppose to look young because they are new to the world but I’d pay gems for an ‘age change’ kit.

Honestly I don’t think that is the case. I don’t drool over my female toons. I just think they look more interesting than male toons. Their hair and armors look better. To me what they equip just seems to flow better than male toons. Male toons no matter what armor look generic and boring. I really think Anet should put a bit more work into the appearance of male toons. Maybe then you would see more.

One thing I have noticed is there seems to be a large number of female characters as opposed to male characters. I should say I’m talking about Human and Norn. I wondered why but then it seems there are a lot more options when creating female characters. They just look cooler. Male human characters look like cardboard cut outs. Ken dolls with bad hair. They are boring. A few minutes in LA or DR will show many more females than males.

I really don’t think people choose female characters to pretend to be female. I just think armors and options for customizing seem more appealing for female characters. Male Human/Norn armor just looks more boring. I wish they would come up with more unique looks for male characters. I’ll admit that 7 out of my 12 characters are human female. They just look more B/A
