The words “mounts”, “duels”, “race change” and “raids” added to the forum language filter and replaced with “Enough already, no!”.
I’m not sure but the way it is set up tells me it probably doesn’t work that way. I’m guessing it only works for the exact same purchase. For example I sent someone 5 BLKs and got 40% my own 5 BLKs. I doubt they would make it so you could buy 1 BLK for someone and then get 40% off 5 for yourself.
@JustTrogdor. I opened a support ticket for the Gem purchase a while back. The solution was to use windows.
Then you should update your ticket and tell them their solution is unacceptable because you don’t use Windows.
In WvW ‘legit’ 80s do have an advantage over up leveled players because they have all traits unlocked and L80 gear with stats as well. Up leveling in WvW is nice but at L16 you don’t have the traits, slot skills, and gear to have the same potential as a true level 80.
Just going to put this here as well from what I posted in another thread:
As this forum seems to garner little attention from Anet the best Mac customers can do is submit support tickets for problems they are having. If a ticket submitted has not been resolved then update the ticket with more details and to let them know the problem has not been fixed. Note, do not submit the multiple tickets for the same problem as this will bog down the response. However, do update your tickets if the problem has not been resolved. Sadly, that’s the best we can do.

I deployed a while ago and now that I’m back in the states and out, I decided to start playing GW2 again. I left a long time ago when it was still very much an “open world pvp” style game. Now that I have returned PvP just seems to have warped into something different. Is there anyone that can try and help me understand what has changed within the last year. I welcome links to the info too. I think the last time I played was Halloween of 2012.
Thanks
First of all, thank you for your service!
For the rest of the info it seems you will need to do a lot of reading to catch up as it would be hard for anyone to sum it up in a few paragraphs here. Here are all the update notes:

I bought the game via Amazon and all my gem purchases $600+ were made via Paypal so I doubt I get a card since I don’t think they have my address. :P
I hope they give you a couple free copies of GW3 when it comes out for spending that much!
Ahh… I’d be happy if they just offered some semblance of respect and support for Mac client customers.

Here’s an idea make the crafting stations race based. If a human character wants to craft something it has to go to Divinity’s Reach. And in the same way if an Asura wants to craft something it has to use the crafting stations in Rata Sum. And to ensure this is the case remove the crafting stations from WvW and Lions Arch. There is no need for them to be there. And to ensure people visit Lion Arch remove the Trading Posts from the racial capitals.
In this way the key services are distributed fairly while causing minimal frustration. WvW is an arena not a town or city and should not have those amenities (crafting stations and trading post). The Trading Post should only be located in Lion’s Arch seeing as it is the entry way to the Mists and the central jump-off point to the racial capitals.
This alone would ensure that each racial capital has a chance of being populated while keeping Lion’s Arch relevant and always in use.
Sorry that’s a bad fix. Making people have to go back and forth between LA and a racial city to craft/buy mats for crafting would be a huge annoyance. If it is that important to populate racial cities they need to add some feature to attract people there on their own will, not force them to go there.
I agree. This would be a great RP item. Of course it would be hard to play musical chairs.
I never thought I would be into a gaming mouse. I didn’t think I would be able to get used to all the buttons. I got tired of trying to deal with all the keyboard commands and got a Logitech G600. I love it. It took some getting used to and fiddling around to bind the buttons I was most comfortable with. Now I hit those thumb buttons when needed without even having to think about it. It was well worth it. It fits my hand well and is comfortable to use for long periods of time. It makes a good non-gaming mouse as well.
For people that are familiar with Sanctum Sprint it pretty much comes down to about the first 20 seconds and who gets to the fakes first. If you get an ‘aspect master’ from the first bag out of the gate, use it, then get lucky and get one from second bag along the way it’s all over. Get to the first fake, dash and drop it just as you pass through the first water fall, and then coast to the end as log as you spam fakes. Works for me every time. So, yes, the fact that the person in first gets a fake from every bag they hit is a bit OP.
I’m a very casual player and understanding that I can’t have everything in game or get it as fast is part of what comes with casual play. Certain items like ascended are rewarded sooner for those that play more. That’s just the way it works. It may take someone that plays more 2 weeks to get something that will take me 6 weeks or longer. I’m fine with that. It’s the same with a lot of the living story rewards. I miss out on a lot of them because I don’t have time to do the achievements or don’t find the achievements fun so I just don’t do them. Those that dedicate the time to it get the reward and I don’t. No big deal. If you are going to play less, like I do, you have to understand that things will take much longer to get or will be unobtainable completely. Not everyone was meant to have everything as quickly or at all. Players that play more should be rewarded for that.
The other racial capitals are a pain in the rear to navigate and that’s part of the problem with them. I’m not sure what they could add to the other cities to get people to go there. LA offers everything, crafting, banks, mystic forge, TP, gates to all other cities, access to the daily activity games and so forth. At this point everyone has gotten in to the comfort zone with LA and DR so it would have to be something pretty appealing to get them out of the habit. Even if leaving Heart of the Mists took players to a different racial city they would probably just go to the LA gate anyway.
This is still plaguing me too! I even went and bought a Gem Card to try to get that working but it’s all failed
In the words of Fry, “Shut up and take my money!”
GW2 replies, “Nah, don’t want it.”
If you bought a gem card they already have it.
For North American servers Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server, Piken Square in the EU.
Elementalists have 4 attunments they can cycle through for attacks. That is more or less their weapon swap. I don’t know what you are taking about other professions not having weapon swap, the only other one that doesn’t is Engineer because they can swap kits.
I love the overall silent treatment we are getting from Anet on this matter.
Their silence is not unique to this particular situation. It’s the standard on the Mac ‘Support’ forum. Have a look around through a few pages here and you will see. It’s unfortunate. Anet seems to have customers eager to give them money and they don’t even stop in with an update or say they are still looking into it.
There is no open world PvP or PvP servers so you won’t have to deal with that in the PvE environment. For PvE servers I would suggest Blackgate or Tarnished Coast if you are in NA.
Oh! i forgot to mention that my Main e-mail i use now is “XIEditItOutFromMyQuoteXXX@gmail.com” if you needed that information, thanks again!

OP, is it the wooh, wooh, UFO sound? That happened to many of us a while back.
The OP is 8 months old so maybe.
Dwarves are boring. From a stand point of having a new and more interesting race as far a visuals, armor and so forth, I think Dwarves would be, well, lame. We already have humans, and over sized humans (Norn), so adding a smaller pudgy human type model would be kind of boring. I’d rather see some less traditional model for a new race.
Weird thing is, I only saw that thread after I started this one.
Yeah it was hidden 4 threads down.
What is this Dwarves day?

When someone is reported for verbal abuse Anet reviews their chat logs. So there really isn’t a need to add additional descriptors. If the person reported has violated the ToS as evidenced by their chat log they will be dealt with accordingly by Anet via suspensions or possible account termination.

Are you using the Mac client? If so here is a bug that has been going on since Tuesday with it.
I bought a gem card yesterday, but the code isn’t working. The barcode on the card is on the receipt, so I’m assuming it’s been ‘activated’, but there’s nothing in-game when I enter the scratch-off code. I go to the trading company, then redeem code button as stated on the support page re: use of gem cards. Note, it only asks if I have a promo code… is that right? There isn’t a specific link for a gem card use? I’m playing on Mac Beta, if that makes a difference.
Is there a ‘lag time’ from purchase until a card has been recognized as authorized? Maybe because it was bought on a weekend (Saturday afternoon)? Bug in Mac Beta?
There is a bug with the Mac client that won’t allow people to buy gems. Apparently they are working on it. You should post your system specs in this thread as requested by Anet.

Play the game in ways that you find fun. Earn gold, buy exotic gear. Or TP trade. Or Mega multiplier, do both.

No, I agree, it says “or better” so of course that is including Vista and 7, and Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
- Last time I looked at the support page I’m quite certain that it did not say 10.7.x “or better” though. So my apologies, I wasn’t aware it had been changed.
This is what’s on the sales page… Mavericks would fall under “or later”.

Actually, i tried to make a thread about having people on OS X not spend money for the first two weeks of March and the mods deleted it. We have no power…
I have power and I have decided to exercise it by no longer buying gems. I stopped buying gems in August after following this board for four months and becoming frustrated with the lack of respect Anet seems to have for the Mac customer base.
When I first started posting here there was no support on this forum from Anet. Then we were told there was someone assigned to this forum. Now a few days a month or so someone from Anet stops in, posts a link to some problem solving steps or says they have no news, and then they silently disappear for a few more weeks. The only problems I have seen acknowledged and addressed were the bugs that didn’t allow Mac users to buy gems. Even then, with the most recent bug, I had to post in the account forum to ask Anet to take a second to post their information on the problem in this forum as the information was not posted here. It seemed to me they would have done so without needing to be promoted since this is the Mac “support” forum and the problem was being actively discussed here by members.
Sure the game works 99% fine for me, but based on the way this community is mostly ignored I have chosen to keep my money in my wallet. I don’t like the way they have handled the Mac client Beta or not. Their attitude seems disrespectful.
For those of you newer to this forum I encourage you to take some time and read through some of the older threads here over the last 6 month or so. I couldn’t care less about a native client because after the way they have handled the Beta client I don’t have a lot of faith in them.

I’m not into lore but as a heads up if you want to do jumping puzzles I highly suggest avoiding huge Norn.
Whats next Mesmer QQ?
Not QQ but I suggest you try one. I have at least 1 of each profession. I’m not a great gamer by any means but I love my Mesmer. It’s the most fun I have had from any of the professions. I was into Guardian but I find it a snooze fest now.
One problem Anet might have with having their own voice chat comes with dealing with people that violate the ToS with verbal abuse. With in game text chat they can keep logs and punish those that are abusive. If they offered live voice chat there would be no real way for them to monitor this and could cause problems due to that. With 3rd party voice chat systems being used they are free from any liability that might come up from any type of abuse or threats that are transmitted via those 3rd party services.
Every profession forum is going to be full of people complaining that their profession is nerfed. Any time there is a change that happens, so every update. Best just jump in, pick a profession that appeals to you and gauge for yourself. The GW2 forum is the worst possible place to get unbiased objective information on any profession, or to be honest the game as a whole. Forums like this were built for negative Nancys.
I don’t have a routine and I don’t play every day. Far less burn out and much easier to find fun things to do in game when I’m playing. I login and just pick what seems fun at the time. No worry about dailies, no worry about ascended gear, no worry about getting the latest living story done, no missing out on real life because the game is low priority to me. The game is much more fun when it is easy to click logout without feeling stressed over missing out on something. It will be there next time I login and the worst that happens is I miss out on a laurel or living story reward I can still enjoy the game without anyway.
Just thought I would check in. I have successfully stayed away from the game and missed my first set of dailies after trying to quit. Man, it feels great to not have that daily grind looming over me.
I’ll help you quit. Send me your stuff or better yet seek out new players in game and the forums and send them your stuff. Otherwise, now that you are freeing yourself from obsessing over achievement points maybe now you will find a way to truly enjoy the game and be able to put it down for the night when the fun is over for the day. Look around the game outside of those achievement point tasks, you might be surprised that there are other ways to have fun. I sincerely hope you find it, but again, if not send me your stuff.
Happy Wintersday!

Too bad they didn’t add older looking human faces. Honestly I don’t see much different about the human faces. They all still look like they are going to a Justin Beavers concert. Well one female face has a scar on her face. The other girls probably beat her up for wearing her Justin Beavers shirt to school. The human males in the Dulfy guide even have the right haircut.

You can have two crafting skills active at a time. You can ‘train’ in every craft though and just have to reactivate them when you want to use them. You won’t loose progress in any crafts you deactivate when you reactivate them later.
Maybe the tech support person who works on issues like this after hours, should have an official admin/forum account and could keep people posted?
Honestly, if you look over this forum I don’t think there is one. Every now and then someone from Anet stops in and posts for a few days and that’s about it.

Regardless of the specifics of the OP’s situation, I agree: the game should only allow you to treat as “friends” when both players are on each other’s friends lists.
- No information about location, APs, or logon/logoff.
- No support on the leaderboards.
“Follower” should be renamed to “Requests to be added to friends list.”
I agree. If someone asks to follow you it should have to be confirmed. If you have blocked them they should not be able to send a follow request. If they are already following you for some reason and you block them, they should be removed from the follower list. Also when you block someone it should be as if you don’t exist to them anymore. They should not be able to see you online, or if invisible what map you are on or anything.

This was addressed in today’s (Wednesday’s) patch.
Yes, just minutes ago. Glad it is fixed.
Well according to the latest update note they fixed it. I’m waiting for the download to finish to test it.
I’ve had this tonic for a few months and it worked fine. Now the only thing you get is the dolyak.
Yeah not cool. I bought one off the TP a few months ago for a lot of gold just to have something fun. It was working fine. I tried it 20 times and only get a dolyak now.
I posted about it in bug report forum.
