I disagree. Look at TF2 for an example, the keys for rng crates in that game are sold more than anything else. Then again, gw2 crates are complete garbage but that doesn’t mean the actual process is bad. The rewards are bad. They need to buff the crates so people actually buy keys, like in TF2.

So you agree selling junk in RNG gem store items is bad. :P

Honest question here, I don’t know. If they’re not ‘buy them on the trading post’ is legit — if not likely expensive — advice. And no gambling involved!

This isn’t about buying on the TP. It is about gem store RNG. It is about people paying real money (not me anymore) for a ‘chance’. I don’t even know what the new dyes look like. I do know that selling a ‘chance’ is not what I want to see in the gem store. I suppose many people are fine with it otherwise those dyes wouldn’t be on the TP as someone had to take that chance on the gem store to get them and then sell them on the TP. Even if I thought the dyes were epic and I saw it on the TP I would not buy it because I won’t support gem store RNG. If I were to buy it I would be supporting the seller giving in to gem store RNG.

The gem store should be straight forward, “buy this for this”. Most all of my gem store purchases were for just that (I admit I fell for some RNG items many months ago). I knew exactly what I was getting and received it. I bought it and it was in my in box and not a chance for it to be something, a scrap, or some other thing I didn’t really want. The gem store has a lot of potential IMO and RNG is not a part of that. I won’t support it, I won’t condone it. I used to when I was new to the game, but I have been watching it way too long and I don’t like it and my wallet will remain closed when I see such things in the store.

I think guesting should be invite only. By that I mean a player wishing to guest should have to be invited by a friend on the server they wish to guest to. A person would only be able to invite 4 players at a time, in other words a party.

This would solve a few things. It keep people from guesting out of their servers and in turn make their server more active. It would maintain the idea of being able to guest to play with your friends since your friends could invite you over in their party. Lastly it would minimize people getting bumped into overflow on their own server due to people on low pop servers mass guesting.

In summary it would maintain the concept you can play PvE with your friends no matter what server but would minimize mass guesting that bumps you into overflow on your own server.

I don’t get this one either. It takes very little time to find a node of each three in the open world. The crystal and candy node I can see because they not available in the open world.

I usually buy every convenience item but this one isn’t for me because I can accomplish the same thing in a matter of minutes outside my home instance. I will usually find more than one node in close proximity when I am doing so. I suppose this is maybe some step into trying to create some sort of ‘player housing’. It isn’t for me.

Freud was a bit whacky, got his friend (and probably a few others) hooked on cocaine, but I don’t think it was against the law to be Freud at the time. However if you commit a Freud these days it might get you arrested. :P

I have yet to even set a single pixel from one of my characters in a dungeon and I’ve been playing since April. If I ever do decide to give it a go I know one thing for sure after reading these forums for as long as I have been playing, I won’t use the LFG tool. Instead I’ll try to make some friends to see if I can find a group to join me in the dungeon at my own pace.

Well, I’m just speaking what I feel is truth. I don’t think your post about profession change tool is going to get you what you want soon. I’ve seen this suggested several times over the last year, and well, see what I mean? Here you are asking the same thing that still hasn’t happened.

What exactly have you bonded with besides the name, race, and gender of your character? You can keep all three if you reroll. You haven’t bonded with profession obviously. If it is looks you can transmute that stuff so when you reroll you can use it.

Well to be honest since you asked for feedback, if it were even to happen I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Your best bet since you are so miserable and depressed at this point is to just reroll. If in some chance Anet does implement such a tool it will probably happen so far from now that you could have leveled up a new toon with the same race, same name, but different profession several times over by then.

Well the search function still does not work and those asking about it seem to fall upon deaf ears. So that’s one thing.

Overall, over the last few months I am not happy with the turn this forum has taken. I feel there is a bit of hyper-moderation and I’ve seen many threads and posts disappear or get infracted that I don’t agree should have been actioned (I’m not talking about my own as there are some I earned). I feel like members here with an opinion or point of view that doesn’t agree with Anet feel like they have to walk on pins and needles now for fear of an infraction.

This forum just doesn’t seem fun anymore like it used to. I don’t mean fun as in trash talking Anet because I don’t consider that good natured forum fun, but I mean it seems the fun of casual banter has diminished as a whole. There is too much of a sense of ‘tread lightly’ from what I have seen. I’ve been very active on this forum since April 2013 and over the last 2-3 months I have seen what looks like a steady decline in forum activity as a whole. Maybe that is the intent? To funnel everyone into the CDI threads? I don’t know. I just don’t like the turn it has taken I guess.

Back to the search function, I don’t like seeing threads closed with a moderator note saying, “use the search function before posting” since the search function is broken. It doesn’t work.

Is a working search function part of this ongoing forum update? I’ve seen a few posts from mods recently closing threads explaining to use the search function. That doesn’t seem like a very fair call when the search function has been broken for as long as I can remember.

Part of the news was they were getting rid of less active sub-forums. They ditched suggestions and dynamic events but kept the audio forum. o_O

And now we see what that something big was. They rearranged parts of the forum. :P

Edit: But the search function is still broken.

They should add a random 15 minute MF buff of 5% when you enter the Terrace as well. Not every time you enter but randomly. That would rock. Oh, and an all you can eat buffet.

A hunter and a ranger are two different things.

You are not noticing it is their attachment to nature that makes them what they are. Rangers roam and patrol regions and being in tune with nature is part of that. They keep pets to fight by their sides. They are not described as masters of ranged weaponry. Seriously, I don’t follow lore but perhaps you can get some background in the Lore sub-forum from some of those that are into it.

Well you yourself tied the word Ranger with being able to use all ranged weapons. This leads me to believe you feel that Ranger = ranged.

…why can’t the rangers use ALL of the ranged weapons (except maybe staff/trident/scepter since those are magical and rangers are physical).

Also many would argue that the LB and SB for Ranger isn’t their best weapon choices unless you are bearbowing PvE.

Anyway, why can’t Mesmers use rifles then? They use pistols. See this can go on and on with just about every profession.

Ranger =/= using ranged weapons. A ranger as per etymology is a game keeper or person who patrols a given area. People often confuse Ranger as meaning someone that specializes in ranged weapons simply because it has the word “range” in it.

Agree. The Terrace is a VIP area and should include profession trainers.

And if you follow them you will see that most people responding to them say they don’t want mounts. Just because some says, “OMG I want teh mounts so kewl!!” once a week or so doesn’t mean we all want mounts.

For me I don’t want them for aesthetic reasons. I find mounts silly looking and visually unappealing. In a game so deeply based on visuals I’d rather not see mounts.

Nope, none at all. A lot of people prefer to start a character in the human starting map, Queensdale, anyway. It’s generally more populated and a bit easier than some of the other races starting areas. So if you are Norn you will want to take the Lions Arch portal in Hoelbrak then go to Divinity’s Reach, the human capital. From there you can go to Queensdale human starter map.

Edit: I should note that if you decide to work on your personal story line you will end up back in your race’s starting area for a bit because that is where the story starts out.

You can easily meet up in any race starting area. Your race’s starting area is right by your race’s main city. You can go to the Lions Arch portal located in the main city. Once you do so the portals to the other race’s cities are right there.

Why would I spend 500 gems on a key that will give me either a bag, bank, or character slot (in your example) when I could spend just a few more gems or less in the case of bag slots and be sure to get the exact item I wanted? If I’m going to spend around 500 gems on something I’d rather just buy the item I wanted directly.

Welcome! When making a character you start with your race, gender, and profession. From there you customize the look of your character. After that the choices you make are related to your personal story. For that I suggest just selecting choices that seem interesting to you. The personal story is kind of a side quest that you can do as you play the game. The choices you make during character creation will affect the early aspects of your personal story. Keep in mind the personal story is something you can do as you play the game when you feel like it and it isn’t mandatory.

Why? You do realize this would hurt the everyday player that sells drops on the TP more than it would traders right?

My gold at the moment is a little over 830. The most I had at one point was about 1100. I converted a lot of gold to gems recently to send Christmas gifts to some friends and when I meet a new player that seems truly interested in the game I often will send them 5 gold or so to help them get started.

I’ve been lazy recently but the bulk of my income comes from trading on the TP. It’s a decent way to make some coin on days when I can’t really play because it only takes a few minutes.

You can either craft new armor or you can buy it from the trading post. The later is faster and easier if you have the coin. However, crafting will also gain you XP. Oh and some NPCs sell armor as well but at your level they are mostly white quality armor.

Of those four choices IMO Mesmer is the most fun to play. It is fun learning and knowing how to use your clones and phantasms at just the right time. There is a bit of a learning curve and they can be tricky to play at lower levels because Mesmers depend a lot on traits. They are fun to play though once you start to learn the ins-and-outs.

You have to have purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition or what ever other ones had it. It’s a garbage skill anyway so if you don’t have access to it no loss. It is more of an early elite skill / status skill.
