Millenium right now is completely untrustworthy with the new matching system relying on probability as far as I know. Good for little more than keeping the scores… Which that alone it isn’t very good at, since it only updates every 3-4 hours.

Solo roam a lot myself. So I’m pretty used to getting zerged. Makes it more satisfying though even when beset upon by three or more times your number, you STILL manage to kill one or two of them. Dunno about you but if I were that zerg, that would make me feel bad, lol.

My humble apologies to the three Yaks at about 8:30 am (cst) this morning just west of our south camp. I know I scared you. Have no fears though, I was only at play. My daily defender was done already, so I was just seeing how many times I could drop you guys down one at a time (the ranger I believe had one more drop before insta-kill if my count was accurate, if the “death penalty” rules still apply in WvW). Great pull together as a team there at the end though, after about four minutes or so of great 1v3 action you finally got me. =D

Been an enjoyable night fighting a mix of Mag and FA over our home BL SW tower and camp for a good chunk of the evening and then some skirmishing in the ruins and between Mag spawn and the tower.

RET brought some good open field skirmishes at SW camp/tower before FA mini-zerg crashed their bro’s party.

Hope we get to play Mags again soon without the 800 lb. gorilla gate crasher next door.

I too would love to face Mag on more even ground, when we’re not so much in between two sock ‘em bop ’em golems, lol. Still not complaining mind you, I’m having a blast.

And oh yes, numbers matter, but willingness to push in and not turn and run matters too. We had stalemate tug-o-wars over the weekend with massive FA numbers. The one that took place on the grounds between our Bay (occupied by FA) and our Garrison (occupied by us) on Sunday evening lasted literally hours (that poor poor sentry didn’t know which color to wear, rofl!). Neither side could grab the land occupied by the other, despite that both locations were highly damaged. A standoff we eventually won btw, by pinching them, a small contingent breaking in through Bay south.

Rofl! We’re also facing a tier 2 server, and under those circumstances not doing horribly I say. That would’ve been like you guys facing a tier 3 server instead of us back in our day (that’s right, we’re relegated to our long porches and wooden rockers now… meeeemories). We’re having very little trouble with Mag, when they’re not rolling in our BL on FA’s coat-tails. Even our “enemies” are claiming to be impressed by our field-presence, despite our handicap.

We’re facing insurmountable odds, and kittenit I’m having a blast!

FA’s solution to a problem is to bring more people. I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been in T2 for so long. At least Ehmry Bay has respectable groups who don’t engage you when they see you 1v1(except that kitten Rekz d/d ele who waited for me to stomp an FA at 3k health before stomping me).

Props to the GF thief on Mag BL you were good.

A lot of us do stop for 1v1’s. I actually stop to watch half the time I come across one, so long as I myself am not under any duress at the time. Whether or not the winner attacks me after is totally up to them.

Also, to that group of Mags that were having some sort of union break outside our SE tower yesterday morning near the sentry while your zerg was getting wasted at our North Hills gate. I apologze for the ruthless attack when you saw me down there. I took it as a direct threat when you jumped down the cliffside my direction. Forgive me for taking adavantage of the fact you all lost 3/4 of your health in the fall. There was only 6-8 of you, okay well minus the 2 I killed. =D

Sooo, I farmed 300+ karka shells, then found out the end of the event was today, before I could get any Settler gear… Counting on you guys to make me feel better. Who’s kicking my kitten?

All I see now are Tower Humpers, Zergers, and overall just horrible tendencies. What happened to the Mag of old where you could find roamers? Did they all leave or something?

I literally ate 2 MoA’s in a row and still lived……..wtf is up w/ y’all anymore?

Idk if you’re Ebay or FA. Earlier I was solo roaming around FA’s circle of camps. Probably 5+ cycles flipping every camp. Ran into a couple nice 1v3s though I lost them all. Several easy 1v2s. Didn’t find any challenging 1v1s. For the most part my roaming was PvE in WvW… bad luck I guess?

Before you’d be able to see TONS of mags roaming. Now you still have a few, but no where NEAR what Mag once had.

Its honestly saddening.

EBay and Mag seem to have about equal roaming populations from what I’ve seen so far.

In my experience, the roamers (myself included) really come out to play weekday nights after the weekend zergs dissipate. Spending more than 10 minutes at ruins island on weekend evenings and you’re guaranteed to be mowed down by a 20-30+ zerg.

No kidding. Had much more fun yesterday. All I’m seeing today is zerg zerg zerg… I’m actually 40s negative from when I started out at 2 am this morning. Just not a good day to roam I guess. Gonna quit while I’m not too far down and pick it up again in the wee hours of the morning.

No, lol. I haven’t even been running my own build lately. Been running a protection-based variant focused on CC and cripples because it’s more fun. The bear is just probably one of the most useless pets in a fight is all. No lunges, mostly useless abilities, and low damage coefficients on skills. They don’t hit very often, and they don’t hit very hard in comparison ;(

You’re forgetting the two good points to brown bear. Condition removal and massive health for people who actually use skills like “Protect Me!” lol. But is that the build you gave Zara?

Our chances of actually taking FA are non-existent, so any T_T with regards to even the infinitesimal possibility of the contrary is a redundant waste lol. We’re dealing with vastly superior numbers, and as far as I can tell with my personal adventures in the field thus far a lot of considerably skilled players FA-side as well. We ain’t taking home gold, no “ifs,” “ands,” or “buts” about it. So I say at least do our best to at least give ’em kitten and hopefully keep ’em entertained. Doing so we can hopefully keep the karma-cycle rolling for the enjoyment and benefit of all, and not make this week drag for anyone involved.

Last night (on EB borderlands) I just saw a ton of FA guys charging up at us all the way to the spawn gates of the citadel. I’m guessing it’s a combination of fighting highly ranked worlds and being used to fighting BP and AR every week with little change.

Diablo 2 never had actual 1v1 PvP, that was something the community did.

You declared hostilities to whoever you wanted and then you could damage them outside of towns and they could do nothing about it.

Some polite fellows would unhostile you if you unhostiled them first, though. Not all of them.

And honestly, I don’t really like the idea. It would suffer from the same weaknesses that Diablo 2 suffered. Mainly endless kiting and abusing stray mobs.

All part of the dynamic, I’ve seen plenty of places in the world I would love to take part in open PvP in. Places with traps, pitfalls, and creatures aplenty. The biggest downfall for D2’s PvP system was the harassment aspect of it. The moment someone declined an invite, that invite could be sent again immediately, and in this case it is on a accept/decline only basis.

1v1’s PvP matches outside of town, Diablo 2 style (minus maybe the whole collecting ears and making necklaces out of them thing… that’s a bit dark for this world I think. <.<; ). Players should be able to PvP on the spot, at any of the many scenic locals offered by Gw2. Activated by highlighting another player character and selecting a “challenge” option. Also should have the option in the menu to toggle balanced or imbalanced play. sPvP style where the players stats are auto-balanced or WvW style where all armor, weapon, and accessory stats come in to play.

Some added notes:
*Match begins when one player renders a challenge to another, and the receiving player accepts or declines.
*If the challenge is declined, there is a set cooldown period before a player can challenge that particular player again. To avoid any unnecessary harassment issues.
*Once accepted, match goes on until one, or both, player(s) enter the “downed state.” At which point the match ends, and the other player can rez his “opponent” accordingly. Or until both combatants vote to end the “challenge.”
*Cannot be used in towns. For obvious reasons. Guards going friggin’ insane for one.

I was also thinking GuildvGuild, but I assume that’s going to be part of the package once guild halls and such make their long awaited return.

Edit: I failed to mention that a form of this already does exist in the “fight clubs” oft held within WvW, and these events are reasonably popular already. Though many have expressed the desire to have the ability to challenge their server-mates as well. A system like the one mentioned above would fully facilitate that.

I would say that this was about perfect.

1v1’s PvP matches outside of town, Diablo 2 style (minus maybe the whole collecting ears and making necklaces out of them thing… that’s a bit dark for this world I think. <.<; ). Players should be able to PvP on the spot, at any of the many scenic locals offered by Gw2. Activated by highlighting another player character and selecting a “challenge” option. Also should have the option in the menu to toggle balanced or imbalanced play. sPvP style where the players stats are auto-balanced or WvW style where all armor, weapon, and accessory stats come in to play.

Some added notes:
*Match begins when one player renders a challenge to another, and the receiving player accepts or declines.
*If the challenge is declined, there is a set cooldown period before a player can challenge that particular player again. To avoid any unnecessary harassment issues.
*Once accepted, match goes on until one, or both, player(s) enter the “downed state.” At which point the match ends, and the other player can rez his “opponent” accordingly. Or until both combatants vote to end the “challenge.”
*Cannot be used in towns. For obvious reasons. Guards going friggin’ insane for one.

Thanks for the GvG tonight, WFD! It was a lot of fun! =)

You guys need to actually make quick posts to let people know when you’re doing this kind of thing. Some of us would absolutely adore having the opportunity to spectate and cheer for everyone. Not saying you guys need to go so far as to schedule in advance or anything (though that would be even more awesome lol). Just a quick forum side note would be sufficient.

Ex: “Hey guys! XvX happening at XX BL in XX minutes near the windmill!”

So I logged in to find us a +90 points on the board this morning at about 10 am CST. Was quite a shock, so much so I double checked the full map screen to make sure it wasn’t a glitch. In fact, the fighting and recapping turned out to be a most pleasant cap-off to my morning. One that had otherwise up until then been a frustrating bore waiting for our server folks to get their kitten together and actually kill the Karka Queen successfully for the acheivement.

My thanks to Borliss, and Kalkz’s seemingly nigh infinite golem supply, for a great time.

Still want the bathing suits instead…
