Any non-instances?
Hey, yesterday my guild is pretty sure that the patch that happened yesterday buffed cof p1, the final boss took twice as long as it usually does, and we have the same party composition and players. Why didn’t they say anything about this?
Low DPS. The final boss regens HP based on crystals.
So you’re just punishing us this patch, promising us compensation for the increased difficulty Soon?
You should hold with the respawn changes until you got the additional Waypoints ready…
Turning off res rushing was a programatic thing to do. As a designer, I spent the entirety of this last patch’s development tuning and ensuring encounters could be accomplished without res rushing.
When you see the patch notes, you’ll be more aware of how much work went into making the anti res-rushing fix not a punishment or an increase in difficuly, but rather a solution to a problem.
As a GW1 fan who has played ArenaNet’s games for 7 years, I really want to voice how pleased I am at the direction of this update.
It truly sounds like it is a step in the right direction, and I believe it sounds quite polished!
The individual fractal dungeons have some of the best dungeon design in all of GW2! With lessons learned from that, I’m really looking forward to the new content!
I give you and your team an applause!

Will try this. I’m planning to use Magi Armor (Heal+precision+vitality) with Berserker Jewelery.
Will try to post results. Thank you!
So after investing countless gold into my Thief, I wish to make some money using her.
However, I am not interested in FoTM, and I do not wish to farm using Magic Find because I love my armor too much.
Besides CoF P1+P2 speedruns, what are some efficient means of making money without FoTM or Magic Find? Thanks!
She will probably be back on the 28th update.
All Southsun Cove events which involve a Veteran Karka are incredibly difficult to solo even though they’re not [Group Events].
Please consider adjusting Veteran Karka.
I do worry this will make the Mesmer boss of AC Story even harder…
Without calling out other users, they continuously create threads complaining how they’re booted from dungeons at the end, or how they’re rejected from groups for being Engineer, Elementalist, Thief, and even Guardian! (WTF!?)
What servers are they playing on? I’m playing on Northern Shiverpeaks and I was never kicked from a dungeon before, nor’ rejected based on my class
I’m just really scratching my head here considering most of my experiences have been pretty good.
Of course, if anyone here is having trouble, feel free to whisper me ingame and I’ll group with you.
People do CoF speedruns even after hitting DR because of the Molten Cores, Rares, and the fact the Silver still rewards them at the end. It’s also good for grinding tokens even with the reduced rewards (though you can switch to an alt an hour or two later and get max reward.)
People like me grind CoF because we want Volcanus!
I do it every 2 hours for maximum benefit so it puzzles me when people run constantly.
Silver, Rares, and Molten Cores. People like me are going after Volcanus.
Also, it’s fun. I’ll join anyone here who wants to do a CoF p1+p2 run, just pm me ingame!

We know it’s not Dragon related, but I hope it’s something we will still recognize from GW1 or other.
It takes something big to see Charr and Norn flee, but I don’t want a repeat of Karka.
So here’s some concise points I feel would greatly improve immersion in the Personal Storyline:
1. Character recognition. NPCs should recognize characters from previous story arcs.
2. Racial individuality for dialogue. A Norn in the Vigil should be more blunt and direct in his dialogue. Whereas an Asura in the Vigil should be more descriptive about details and more technical. Meanwhile Charr focus on the order of commands.
3. Class individuality for dialogue. An NPC like Trahearne should not have to explain much about raising undead minions to our Flesh Golem-summoning Necromancer. Instead, a necromancer player and Trahearne should both be geeking out to each other’s talents. This would both make NPCs like Trahearne feel more real and likeable, and also further establish an identity for our character.
4. Our choices affect our dialog and branches. If our character was once a criminal gangster in Divinity’s Reach while our sister was a Seraph, just what kind of life did we have with our family? And what was Quin’s impact on our upbringing? If we chose to save Quin, shouldn’t that branch out to an entirely new story arc about the character’s personal life?
Lastly I should stress that the personal life of our characters and overcoming their issues were a lot more interesting than joining the Pact to defeat dragons. While I’m not exactly advising that we abolish the Pact, I do believe Trahearne should temporarily suspend the order to celebrate and boost morale after having braved Orr.
The other dragons could be made aware of our triumph over Zhaitan and wish to target us personally as the commander of the pact. Their influence could manipulate various events in our personal lives to keep us busy and distracted from the Elder Dragons.
He isn’t that bad in my opinion. It’s just that pugs try to use only 2 DPS while the other 3 players camp cannon.
When really the cannon players should be running to the Stairs and ranging the boss. If I am able to do that on a Thief with Shortbow, you can do it with your 1200-range whatever.
The process is also sped up with Rangers due to the fact Pets can stand in Lava and melee him while you can range him with short/longbow.
It doesn’t have enough.. “Sylvari” objects.
You have the start and the swamp. And then all the pretty, colorful plants disappear!
To be fair, the bridge from the Race to Orders is a lot more well done in the Asura storyline because you lose your home in Rata Sum and because the Dragons are presented as a more important problem.
The worst is probably the Charr or Humans. Charr is bad because you forget your warband, and the Human storyline just plain has nothing interesting going on. Which is a shame because most players use Human.
We’re adding a wide range of new gear that can be purchased with the new laurels.
With 5 new Utility Infusions and 30 Ascended Amulets to choose from, there’s something for every style of player.
They are adding new skills to the update? “Utility Infusions”?
5 playable races, 5 utility infusions.. Hrmm… New racials?
Can someone clarify please? Thanks!
edit: Wrong forum. Can a mod please fix? Thanks!
I think all standards should be AoE since they’re still inferior.
How will this update get people into lower level zones and have it be worth our time though?
And cursed shore changes?
Well, of course the necromancer would love a scythe, but who else would you see waving the thing around? It’d look a bit off in anyone else’s hands.
The Warrior was a VERY viable scythe user in GW1!
Same with the Assassin (Thief) who was even more so viable than the Dervish itself at one point in time.
I imagine the Elementalist may also see use out of a scythe because the original class to use it (Dervish) specialized in Earth and Wind magic.
Imagine a big, burly Norn in Abyss-dyed Armageddon armor, with Twilight in hands, walking around with a baby Quaggan backpack.
This is GENIUS, ANET! Genius!
I would love to see GW1 recycled into a single-player game. It’s too polished to simply take down, and I imagine becoming offline would address the server issue. It might also give light to a modding community to design their own maps and skills. GW1 was all about customize ability, so we should be able to make mods too!

Honestly, I don’t understand the complaints with voice acting besides Trahearne. They’re all pretty exceptional and get the job done well, with notable praise to Zojja and ALL Male Sylvari! Their enthusiastic, adventurous, yet cute, innocent voice really stands out, making them a pleasure to listen to! I also have to give some praise to various Asura characters such as Magg.
However, a part of me misses the cheesy voice of Master Togo…

Also, for Detha’s emphasis on build, isn’t she supposed to be a sarcastic character?

HAVING a legendary at the moment DOES NOT show your prowess at the game – It means you were either lucky enough to get a precursor drop – OR YOU BOUGHT a precursor OFF THE TRADING POST – (NOW that REALLY is legendary)
Really? I got my precursor first before anything else, and I’m still not even close. There’s all the t6 mats, Onyx Lodes, and Ectos I need to buy too!
People who have legendaries at this point in the game usually powerfarm the mats. Whereas I just deposit collectibles as they come.
In all my months of GW2, I’ve never been kicked from a dungeon before. Including FoTM.
If you’re having a hard time, feel free to PM me or various other forumers and we’ll be happy to go on a run with you.
I’m sitting on the edge of my seat for update notes/preview.
ANET hinted something might be happening on the main page tomorrow.
Personally I think this Fractal is fine since they more than telegraph their attacks. It’s funny too to see people die so much because it’s not actually a difficult attack!
If I was calling the shots, I’d reduce their projectile speed for lightning slightly, but only slightly.
My guess is this will be changed in the upcoming update, because it is an example of OP AoE versus singletarget (P/P Unload) in the first place.
Solution: Tell the person to STFU and mute the volume for a bit. He’ll get bored of mashing 11111111 and then eventually leave you alone.
What about Jumping Puzzle chests instead of dynamic events?
I don’t see how this is an exploit because level 2 characters could barely survive places with Orichalcum.
However, bots may have a field day…
So I’m down to Healing Power and Critical sets. Any further advice?
PLEASE consider adding dragons in Orr for the pact to fight against in the next update.
I keep hearing Tequitl’s screams in Straits of Devastation and looking up and seeing epic battles in the sky, but never any dragons on ground.
How about a Dragon guarding Arah instead of Archwizard? (Or possibly both!?)
This would be a completely awesome addition to bring players back to Orr. So please consider the dragons! Thanks!

Could you describe in more detail how to kill Trahearne permanently? I would love to perform this glitch.
For me its not steampunk enough.
We need to replace all those stupid bandito masks with all sorts of different headgoggles and monocles!
And by monocle, I mean the REAL monocle!
I think we should also get Abe Lincoln-style tophats, and reading glasses for headpieces.
I hope my idea doesn’t sound silly, because we had them in GW1 (INCLUDING Tuxedos!) and they were my favorite headpieces!
Yes, MORE Steampunk please! And how about some Diessel Punk in the Crystal Desert too!? Asura already have a Star Wars-thing going on, so give them Diessel Punk!

Check dev tracker. They’re only nerfing specific overpowered aoe skills through a variety of means (such as radius) rather than a blanket nerf of AOE.
In the case of Engineer, there is a possibility Wrench will be buffed rather than bombs nerfed.
I am curious what other people recommend. Personally I’m leaning towards Glass Cannon, but still not sure.
Also, does shout warrior benefit much from Healing Power?
If you see someone doing “LF1M Must be Guardian”, ask them which Guatdian build they need since they’re so picky. If they don’t even know what build of the Guardian they need, then lol and be on your way.
How about I tell you, I value their wall of reflection, Shield of the Avenger, protection and aegis boons? Also the ability to position control multiple mobs with Sanctuary, Shield of Absorption and Binding Blade? People might not know the absolute details about each and every traits, but when people talk about a guardian, they usually know what they are looking for.
That’s no problem and understandable. Except half the guards I meet don’t even know those skills exist, let alone set up for Aegis spreading. And half of the LF1Mers don’t know what to ask for either.
For some weapon sets, the AOE options may be too strong compared to the single target options, which is what we aim to address.
This. This. This. And this!
This is probably all they meant.
Thank you for clarifying Jonathan Sharp. I was skeptical at first, but your posts really cleared up my worries.
It will be very interesting, to say the least. Speaking as an Engineer, I hope the Wrench Kit will be balanced t excel at single target dmg more than Grenade Kit.
And as a Thief, hopefully this will resolve the Unload vs Cluster Shot fiasco.

Oh and:
I’m looking at gw2lfg.com’s listings for AC Explore, and literally every LFM entry states either “speed run” or “experienced only!”
“LF3M AC Path 1&2. Alt Swappin at boss welcomed. Taking one lv 40. /join Nayix”
“LF3M AC all/any path(s)”
“lf1m, all paths, self join, not skipping kholer, so please be proficient at dodging”
“GLF 1m AC path 1”
“LF1M FOR P2 SELF INVITE”
These are the 5 most recent LFM posts on gw2lfg.com
Everytime someone says that I look it up on lfg.com and every single time they are completely full of kitten.
This is pretty true.
I’m not sure why so many people have such an inferiority complex. Every group I see on GW2lfg has been very nice and welcoming.
And quite the contrary to a number of posts, if you are inexperienced, DO ask questions! It’s better to have an inexperienced player who is willing to learn rather than an stubborn know-it-all.
There a many players like me who are happy to welcome newbies into their group and teach. Lemme know if you ever wanna do CoE EXP, and I’ll teach ya!

For awhile I’ve been running a Condition set on my Warrior to celebrate my Jormag’s Breath with a S/S combo.
But now I want to run a serious equipment set as I level up in Fractals. How should I gear up? Should I stay Condition and put a Sigil of Earth on my Greatsword, Rifle, and Longbow? Or should I go full Berserker?
How should I gear my Warrior for dungeons? Thanks!
If you swim at the top left of Malchor’s Leap, it will warp you under the map. It’s freaky, but it actually warps you! (I believe itll be fixed by next patch since I reported it.)
There’s also a place full of Veteran Sea Scorpions out of bounds I like to call “Armor Scale” heaven, but I’m not going to tell how to reach it until it’s fixed because it’s so abusive even I don’t abuse it! -.-

We can assume it looked similar to Hall of Heroes since it was once the city of the gods.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/c/ce/The_Hall_of_Heroes_concept_art.jpg
Maybe they could do it where maximum damage is dealt to the target and damage decreases as the radius of the spell extends.

it isn’t that toughness is bad, it is just that with our low base HP vitality can benefit us more. in PvE there are attack that can still kill a high toughness thief that a high vit thief would be able to live through. as far as build help, what weapons do you like to use? do you prefer to be tankier, or to give up some survivability for higher damage? give us a bit more information and we should be able to help you find a build you like.
I do like giving up some damage for survivability because I am mostly interested in the support and utility a thief brings to the table. Such as Poison, Weakness, Blind, and AoE/Bouce, boon-stealing, etc… Some power is necessary for destroyer structures and such.

Hi. I’m a new level 80 Thief. I need some advice in regards to buying exotic armor and traits.
Currently I use Knight’s armor with Emerald Orbs on my armor, while I use Ruby jewelry. So I am Knight-Berserker Hybrid.
My traits are 0-30-0-20-20.
However, other players frown upon me using Toughness on a Thief. Some tell me to use Valkyrie armor, and others tell me to go full Berserker. (And don’t both lose out on precision?)
I am a PvE player, and I enjoy doing instances.
Why is Toughness bad on Thief? And could someone please elaborate on how to spec my Thief properly? Thanks!
Ok I investigated, and it seems the bug is with Vigil Mask itself. Equipping the headpiece re-arranges how weapons are held.
Hey folks,
What was happening here was that some of the mobs were respawning in the dark forest area, and they were dropping loot. This meant that the spawns could be farmed continually in an instance, which is something that poses some danger.
We have the tech to turn off their loot without having to patch. Our next content patch will fix the issue with them respawning, and they will have their loot turned back on then once they can no longer be exploited by farmers.
Alright, thanks you for informing us! ^
