However, my concern is it may split maps into various servers to farm them. Like everyone who farms Cursed Shore would all gather on one single server.

It might be a bit of a schlep for players unless underflow were implemented.

If I equip the medium Vigil Mask on my Asura Thief, my weapons misalign and they clip through my wrists! This makes the Vigil headpiece completely unusable without serious weapon issues!

I kinda gotta agree here.

More content limited to dailies? Dungeons, FoTM, nodes, and now this? In the future, please don’t add more content limiting us to once per day, because so many other things in the game right are limited once per day.

I’m also a bit skeptical. How will this bring players onto lower level areas and it be worth their time?

I’m not doubting the update, but just wondering if this is the update we’ve been waiting for to go back to Dredgehaunt Cliffs.

Squandered Story?

in Lore

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

What I’m wondering is how such a high budget RPG could have such a horribly organized storyline?

I guarantee you, if an English teacher would have taken a look at it, then it would have been a failed school project.

We saw Zhaitan only once, an annoying lack of continuity between the story arcs, so many plot devices forgotten, and of course, saladhead!

So why is a bad story suddenly ok just because it’s high budget? A bad story is a bad story. The amazing backstory is pointless if we’re given a bad script.

As a desginer I would have the armor styles go from common looking to exotic looking. Making someone look powerful just by the visuals isn’t complicated. You can add effects on the armor such as glow, shiney and magical auras. Other exotic technicques such as embedded jewelery, blades, spikes, skulls. You can make a lvl 1 character look like a warlord.

Actually, the fifth and sixth ones are some of the most prestigious in the game. The others were simply new content which was cheaper.

Bring back Junundu!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

One of the coolest things about the Desolation in GW1 was that you had your own personal Junundu mount to carry you across the sulfurous wastes.

While I’ll admit I’m not a big fan of global mounts, I really did love the idea of a mount limited to that region, sort of like Siege Devourers in Blood Legion Homelands.

If we were to see the Junundu return for the Crystal Desert +Desolation expansion, it would be super cool because it would please those who want mounts while also pleasing those who do not want mounts. Meanwhile it would also please us GW1 fans who have such nostalgia about vanquishing Joko’s Domain! ;D

One details which would be nice is if it were the same Junundu as in GW1. If it is a sentient creature, our character probably reminds it of the Hero of Elona, giving it a reason to carry us through a similar scenario. Being the same Wurm is signified through knowing Junundu Seige as its elite skill, which our hero in GW1 taught it.

Anyways, please consider bringing back Junundu. Thanks!

Besides that, not all classes would make sense for undead. While there were undead rangers in GW1, they never used pets (and if a few did, which I may forgot about, I bet their pets weren’t alive anymore) and I doubt living pets would follow an undead master. I also doubt Anet would give us an undead re-skin for every pet.

As I said before, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to play a servant of Joko, if given the opportunity. He’s one of my favorite characters in GW’s lore.

yes, you are a drain on the group. might as well take off some agony resistance, because it is the same thing.

he could have tanky stats keeping him alive. As long as you don’t go full glass cannon build (stats, powers and gear) you should do just fine.

He still has 1/3 less stats than everyone else.
MF is selfish and for morons. 100% more of a 5% drop rate is still only 10%. That is not enough to justify gimping yourself.

The 1/3 less stats during normal mooks don’t make a difference.

The 1/3 less stats during bosses make a huge difference.

What’s selfish in my opinion is people not being able to use the 11 inventory slots to swap armor sets when necessary.

I am under the impression many people who use magic find do not swap equipment.

Reading various forum posts and playing with various players ingame, has it ever occurred to people you can switch armor mid-dungeon?

Meaning if you use Magic Find in Grawl FoTM for example, you can swap to that gear during the first few Grawl waves, and then to serious armor during the bosses?

You can even swap Jewelry!

So why do so many players carry just one equipment set and use Magic Find during the Legendary Imbued Shaman?

It astounds me how many players do not realize switching equipment is possible…

I run high lvl fotm with mf gear on as a guardian, got a problem with that?

Well is it your only set? If so, yes, problem.

Instead you should carry multiple sets of armor. One Magic Find set for easy mobs like Harpies and Jade Fractal, and another armor set for serious fights like Legendary Imbued Shaman.

There’s nothing wrong with using Magic Find when it is justified. The devs were brilliant allowing us to switch armor in dungeons. But using it during boss battles is pointless. Dredge would be an example NOT to use MF because they drop bags, which aren’t rare in the first place.

In short, just know when to use magic find and on what mobs. Jade Fractal and Harpies come to mind.

Which classes would use Polearms?

in Lore

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

So as a hypothetical, which classes in GW2 do you think would use Polearms?

Warrior without a doubt. Possibly as a melee weapon. But who else?

I think Guardians should also get Polearms because they are descended from the Paragon. Having a Polearm as a ranged alternative to Scepter would be very useful for Guardians, and it’s odd the descendant of Paragons wouldn’t know how to throw spears.

So who else should get Polearms? My vote goes to Engineer. As silly as it sounds, I think it could work as a melee weapon focused on electricity. Not only is the Engineer in desperate need of more melee options, but I feel having an electrified zap-stick type weapon would be very fitting to the Engineer theme, similar to how the the Shield uses magnetism. Mechanically it could make use of splash damage and electric bolts which bounce back and forth between enemies and allies similar to Ray of Judgment.

How I think they can differentiate Polearms from Underwater-Spears is by making them 1H with scaled down versions of Underwater-Spear skins, similar to how Shortbow and Longbow use the same skins with different scales.

Anyways, that’s simply my idea. Who do you think would use Polearms?

Trahearne.. Now with more emotion than ever!

The thief and its gameplay - Your feedback [Merged]

in Thief

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

So as a new thief player, here’s my honest impressions so far:

1. Remove blind immunity from Dredge. None of the players care about the “flavor” of Dredge. It’s unfair that such an essential mechanic for Thief is useless against Dredge, and it’s the equivalence of making Risen immune to bleeding.

2. Buff Pistol. The autoattack is waaaay too slow, and Unload’s damage does not justify its cost.

3. Revert Pistol Whip for PvE.

4. MAKE BLIND EFFECTIVE ON BOSSES!

I cannot stress the fourth one enough. Aegis is to Guardians what Blind is to Thief. It’s simply not fair that Thiefs are put at such a disadvantage compared to Guardians. At least buff it up to 75% miss with 25% chance to hit.

Other than that, I am very satisfied with Thief so far. It’s very fun to blind-spam enemies with Black Powder. Smokescreen is also a very useful skill because of its reflect properties. Shadow Refuge of course is also an honorable mention with its massive healing and stealth utility. I would also like to mention Cluster Bomb because it comboes so well as a blast finisher, and the Asura racial skills Radiation Field synergizing so amazing with it for weakness spam on foes.

I am in love with my Thief more than I am my Warrior. So I hope its minor problems are addressed, as the rest of the class is so dang fun!

Question to Guild Wars 1 players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

I think GW2 is better than GW1 in many aspects such as actual gameplay design and mechanics. However, ANET mustn’t shoot themselves in the foot.

New tiers and grind, killing farms, insane crafting requirements, and mass PERMA-banning of players for “exploiting” when we know darn well that ANET refuses to state if something is an exploit or not in the first place! (That’s putting aside the fact QA did NOT do their job properly!)

I don’t mean to criticize ANET, but I plead them not to castrate their own game. Guild Wars 2 itself is amazing, but I worry its management will be its downfall unless policies improve.

In a sense, I do feel GW1 was better managed than GW2 because most of the updates and handling of the game vastly improved every aspect rather than taking away. We were not punished for farming, and the staff were very true to their principles.

Sadly, it feels like a different team manages GW2.

And on a lighter note, it is silly how they renamed the professions. Thief should have stayed an Assassin. Guardian should have stayed Paragon. Renaming them took away from the sense of continuity.

Best profession to duo with a theif?

in Thief

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

A good profession to duo with thief in PvE is ranger, as he can distract enemies while thieves deal the killing blow.

Despite the common misconception, RANGERS DO NOT DIE!

Their trait and skills allow them to regenerate and dodge like heck, while their Greatsword allows them to evade almost anything with well-timed attacks!

Pets are also not as squishy as some people like to think. When traited and microed properly, they are capable of surviving very well, and soaking up damage. They are also underrated damage dealers, as my Jaguar is able to strike for 2-3k dmg average!

BUG: Warhorn not affecting pet

in Ranger

Posted by: Kain Francois.4328

Kain Francois.4328

This really isn’t a “bug” per se. It’s a change that was made to prioritise player characters over targets such as summons/ pets etc so that it’d buff the nearby players instead of buffing, say, all the necro minions instead of the necro himself.

Though this does mean that your pet would lose out if you’re using warhorn within a group of 5.

Maybe it’s not a bug, but it certainly is a change to be desired.

I run a high-crit build and it is annoying when my pet does not receive the boons it needs.

If its that detrimental to your build throw 15 points In natures magic so he gets every boon you do.

Not good enough. Only applies fury for 3 seconds. (However, applies might for 10s…)

Um… no? It applies the boon for the same duration that you received it to your pet.

IE: You receive 25s of Fury? so does your pet!
