I have heard FGJ so much to the point it is drown out. Also, you can disable voices without impacting a majority of the game.
After playing through the Vexas Lab mini-dungeon I realized how much potential the future personal storyline has both in terms of missions and of bosses.
Vexas Lab serves as a model for a solo-dungeon both entertaining to explore and challenging to fight. It had neat puzzles and jumping challenges as well.
But most notably was the boss Golem. He was challenging and fun while feeling unique from normal mobs. While you didn’t expose a “weakpoint” like most “Zelda” bosses have, you had to chase him across shifting platforms and dodge his projectiles until you could finally reach and damage him before he melees you.
What’s most important about the Golem boss is the fact his attacks are telegraphed and make graet use of the dodging mechanic.
I hope in the future, rather than DPS meatnags, we should see more similar “Zelda”-style bosses in the personal story with weakpoints to expose and telegraphed attacks to dodge.
What about Black Powder perma-blind spam? Or Headshot to wipe away defiant from bosses? (Too bad teams cannot l2p to co-ordinate…) What about Boon-stealing, stealthing, weakness and poison spam?
Warrior is the most quiet in my opinion because all the sounds except rifle are very modest. However, rifle doesn’t sound annoying either.
I still don’t see how this is an issue. Just get 3-5 guildies to do CoF P1 a few times and you will get influence quickly. You can also guest on multiple servers and get groups of people to do Peni/Shelter’s gate farm (each group earns 20 on completion.)
However, for one final kick in the kitten we have to play on our home server too to get a commendation for the Ascended items? Or is that just a rumor?
Does this mean to enjoy guild bounties we are not only forced to join a big guild, but also a guild local on our server?
I’m stuck on Sea of Sorrows but my friend’s guild is Sanctum of Ray. Is it true none of the influence I have goes to them, that the upgrades are different, and people who guest on their server do not get guild commendations? Is there any plans to fix this? I feel like it’s useless being on a cross-server guild…
Thank you for your feedback, everyone. We appreciate your input and have been following the responses to this thread; based on the overwhelming sentiment that the rifle was preferred as is, we’ll be reverting these changes soon.
I +1 your post.
We are very pleased. Just keep in mind that the sound effects of the original Predator do not sound off at all if you interpret it as a blast so powerful, it creates a sonic boom.
After hearing the sound, I am VERY disappointed!
Please turn it back ANET. The old sounded powerful, as if it broke the sound barrier. But this new one is just.. Are my speakers underwater?
Or you can, you know.. Interrupt his howl. Why is it teams outright refuse to use CC? They say “It’s just AC itll be easy”, I tell em to use CC skills and CO-ORDINATE, but nooooooo! They just don’t listen!
It’s a l2p problem tbh.
You can still use Ash Kits. Just be smart about it. You don’t need more than 1 to do the gearbox if your team uses its brains.
What I want to know is why ANET seems to believe Champions are anything other than a fat sack of HP which players ignore. Why even include them in events? They don’t do anything but get in our way.
One of the new ascended items has text hinting at the combined forces of dredge and flame legion.
Is it possibly foreshadowing this Fire&Ice? Since we know for sure it does not feature the elder dragon minions (according to a dev post) we can conclude dredge + flame legion. Interestingly enough, both have ties to Primordus.
Honestly, I believe some of the complaints regarding rezzes could be resolved if perhaps skills had the capabilities to completely resurrect KOed foes. With down, it’s too difficult a decision whether or not to res because you can easily heal them without needing to use a skill. On the other hand, this puts us in harm’s way and makes bosses like Subject Alpha frustrating for certain groups. So the solution in my opinion is to allow skills like Warbanner to resurrect KOed allies. This can be justified with their high recharge cost and use of a slot.
From what I understand, anet wants this to be a longterm goal. There is nothing stopping guilds from pooling together gold or simply saving up influence.
Each guild member gets 20+ Influence for being in the same party and doing the same event. While that sounds small, consider the fact even small guilds can have a decent amount of people, and just the sheer fact virtually everything you do in the game rewards influence. For example are dungeon completions. If you have 3 guildies in a group, you each get 100 influence.
Each member can also donate a small sum of money to convert into influence. 60g= 30,000 influence. While that certainly seems like a lot of money, we should reflect back to Guild Wars 1 when a skill trainer in a guild hall cost 100k as well. They are long-term goals and not necessary.

Am I the only one who wishes to see this play out before complaining? How many people even did a new guild mission yet?
Can someone please show me a video of this change or show me ingame?
Please Robert Hrouda. I hate Hodgins more than Trahearne. Please swap him with a clone of Detha so she can BUILD the scepters herself and kick kitten with them in his place.
In all seriousness, I really like the idea of making NPCs more useful.
Hodgins= Kills adds.
Grask= Defends against rocks.
Detha= Cannons being usefu.
This is a huge step in the right direction. Nicely done!
If you’re a cat person, be a charr. The charr racial skills compliment a ranger nicely for fury stacking. (And since rangers do not rely on all 3 utility slots typically, the charr skill “Battle Roar” is a great filler!)
Something tells me it’s a bug.
I like this new daily system. It’s even easier, and forces you to use your brain to decide which to do that day.
Alpha is fine. Just tell the person with Ice to go ranged and get the rest of the team to stack and dodge every 3 seconds when he does his attack. It’s a l2p problem instead of difficulty problem.
I LOVE the voice in cutscenes. I’m somewhat disappointed I don’t get to hear his voice anymore after I complete the personal storyline.
Outside cutscenes his voice is a little corny though. I’m not sure why but it’s probably the lines more than the voice “Urge to kill rising!”
Hi. I’m looking for a dungeon speedrun/farming guild, particularly for CoF p1 runs.
I have a Glass Cannon Thief, a Warrior, Engineer, Guardian, and Ranger. I am in the process of leveling an Elementalist and Mesmer.
I have been playing since release, and I have thorough experience with cof p1+p2, coe 3-in-1, AC p1+2+3, HoTW P1, as well as every other dungeon except for Arah (as I do not like the skins.)
I am greatly interested in CoF P1 speed-running and speedrunning other dungeons as well (and joining open-world farming.) I have studied CoF P1 speedruns greatly, however I am quite new to speedruns beyond p1+p2 groups.
If any dungeon and farming guilds are interested in a member willing to learn, feel free to post in this thread and I will contact you. Thank you!
Well I joined the Vigil because I do not fear my enemy to hide in the shadows.
I am the speedster; The one to face my enemy head on and win before they can strike back.
With the edge of my blade and and the roaring of guns, I blind all those who dare stand in my way and parry all those who dare attack me!
The vigil was created to fight the dragons. To destroy them, before they destroy us. Some must fight so that all may be free. I am a proud front-line Thief of the vigil.
I feel bad for the turtles and mushroom men Mario has killed.
Did you switch audio language?
So I’m looking for a nice longbow skin for Warriors fitting with CoF armor and a “flaming” weaponset (volcanus, FDS, the Predator, etc…)
Anyone have any ideas which bow skin would fit nicely with burning? Preferably a Black/Orange/Red/Yellow palette.
Buncha party poopers. He’s glad he got his legendaries, give him an applause! :P
So for the FoTM lvl 10 daily, are Pristine Fractal Relics per account or per toon? Half the people say it’s per toon and half say per account. Is it worth getting alts up to level 10 in FoTM?
I would be really disappointed if Cantha was not in the game.
The Jade Sea fractal really blew my mind! (And I think Kaineng City with jumping and interiors would be amazing!)
Months ago I heard GW2 would be tweaked for compatibility in WINE even though there were no plans for a Linux client.
With all the builds, I’m just wondering how it is doing in WINE at the moment? Anyone have their experiences to share?
And does anyone have tips for running it in WINE? I have Linux Mint 14.
Punishing exploiters is a grey topic because a lot of players like myself are peer pressured to exploit.
I love to do CoE but a majority of my groups, including my guild, forces me to do the “180 exploit” run where we do all 3 paths in 1.
I would be very upset if I was banned for it but I do not want to leave my groups.

Wondering what’s with all the Thief hate? I thought we’re one of the most OP classes in the game next to Warriors and Guardians?
What do the Thief experts think of all the Thief hate? Is this just a case of experiences with Thieves in dungeons, or is something fundamentally wrong with Thief?
As for that 8-9k damage in one chain, in PVT gear thats about my end burst for 100blades, not to mention, the 8 or so hits before that doing up to the 9k end burst.
Is 100blades your autoattack? Can you move while using it? AND weakness+cripple? Can your other weapon skills evade, daze, and permablind?
I find Hundred Blades to be a risky skill because it pins you in place and unlike other similar attacks, it has no evade or other helpful effects. It’s just DPS.
Also, what the heck is with all the Thief hate? One minute people call it overpowered, the next they say it’s worthless! I wish the community could make up their kitten minds whether the Thief is good or not because this thread is another case of schizophrenia in the community.
People are complaining? What?
A lot of people here don’t know how Shadow Refuge works.
The strength comes not from being stealthed yourself, but from stealthing (and healing) a downed ally.
When you are down, Ash kits do not work.
As for P/D perma-blinds… Really? People think Sword Autoattack+Black Powder is bad? It can deal about 8-9k dmg in one chain+weakness and cripple and PERMABLIND from Black Powder, and people still think it’s bad?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
Where can I see the 100nades build? I keep seeing threads about it.
Also, is the consensus to go Glass Cannon? Or should I mix in other stats too?
As someone who recently mained a Thief, I bring:
- Permablinds (Black Powder)
- Anti-Defiant (A thief can consistently chip away stacks using Headshot. It’s the Warrior’s fault he isn’t using this opportunity.)
- Shadow Refuge
- SUSTAINED DPS (Pistol whip in a Glassy initiative regen build should not be underestimated.)
- Spammable blast finishers
- Perma weakness or poison
- Boon stripping
Honestly, I don’t see why it is people hate thiefs. We have tons of survivability options, and if people are still dying, they must be playing like shadowstepping assassin “narutards” from GW1.
We have tons of survivability, including an on-demand reflect. However, with each Unload and Pistol whip, we regain 900 HP using Signet of Malice MINIMUM! And that’s WITHOUT life-steal!
I wouldn’t call myself a pro, but I wonder what those PUGs are doing wrong to die as a Thief? We’re pretty comparable to a Guardian in that we make up for our low HP with all our survivability options.

What is more efficient for dungeons? Build ideas?
So I’m an old engineer player considering returning how that they fixed Flamethrower and kits as a whole.
Problem is, how should I gear my Engineer? I don’t know if to go power or condition damage.
What build and skills from an Engineer is generally favorable in dungeons?
Jormag because he’s kinder to his minions. He corrupts the mind rather than the body, which probably isn’t a painful thing so much as it is a change in perception.
Just a thought, but maybe it’s possible the steam creatures are behind Fire&Ice?
I found it very peculiar that there were vents of steam. It could have been the dredge, but I suspect Steam Creatures because there’s not much lore behind them.
Anyone else have guesses WTF is going on?
I do like this idea. However I had this thought in a Grenth Temple mission yesturday:
“If this were tf2, imagine how many people would be yelling “MEDIC!” right now."
Need a dispenser here!
Need a dispenser here!
Need a dispenser here!
Need a teleporter here!
Need a dispenser here!
Need a dispenser here!
Engineer blows up
Nope.avi
In all seriousness, they could probably solve this by making it exclusive to you and your party or putting some sort of limitation.
I do hope ANET considers this idea because it would be a great use of the wonderful player-character voices, and it will make communications much easier.
I miss Jade Quarry. It was my favorite PvP format, and I believe it would have worked wonderfully in a PvP format.
They should also bring back Alliance Battles as a WvW-like format.
One theory in these regards may be how the RNG system works. It may punish players who tend to favor more specific actions, thus’ creating the illusion of it favoring certain players.
In Golden Sun for the GBA for example, one can manipulate droprates by performing very specific actions. Such also occurs in the Fire Emblem games for the very same system.
While I realize RNG systems have advanced since the days of the Gameboy Advanced, I do hope ANET double checks both the RNG and DR systems just to make sure they are functioning as intended. They may in fact favor certain players as Fire Emblem favors players who reset the game a lot.

CoF exp is the easiest dungeon in the game. You can complete both path 1 +2 in under 30 minutes each combined. You are guaranteed 1-2 cores a path, plus tons of gold and high chance of rares. If you do not choose to spend your tokens on free berserker armor/weapons, you could spend it on the level 70 rare headpieces to salvage for free ectos.
If you wish to go on a run ingame with me, feel free to add me and I’ll help you out.
Okay, thank you! I guess the next couple of days will be used on doing CoF
Thank you for the help!
Have a nice day!
/Gammarik
Aye, I’ll see ya ingame!
I’m redownloading a huge build so I may be 30 mins or so -.-
