People think Canthans just don’t exist at all anymore? What, because the Canthan district was scrapped that whole continent stopped being a thing? The sister story line for human specifically allows you to choose Canthan as your character’s origin. My Ranger is Luscan, so screw them. They aren’t elitists, they’re RP TryHards.

Toxicity in the RP Community

I’ve been RPing in MMOs for years, I’ve actually had a lot of luck in finding open friendly RP. Unfortunately this is just a truth. The RP community as a single entity is usually pretty trash. They’re not open enough to the different ways one can RP nor to the differences in what any one person might consider as acceptable lorewise.

I miss CoH. They had the best community hands down, most of all because their ability to leave a little background for anyone to open and read before or during interaction. It let you claim up front that you’re new or how you liked to RP. It let you provide icebreakers for RP in the form of information anyone would immediately know or observe about the character.

From there my experiences have only gone down hill. I’ve consistently limited myself to guilds I know the members of and generally avoid the greater community cause they’re usually kittenholes.

Does ANET punish individuals?

Had to hunt it down but here we go.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/first

I’d have to hunt for the six or seven threads that prompted Anet to make that one, but hey after 31 pages.

“Yeah guys turns out not all our loot rules were working right.”

Not applicable since the issue wasn’t tied to specific accounts. Anybody could have been affected by that.

“The rules by which you qualify for credit for an event or for experience when killing a mob are different rules than those used to help determine if you qualify for loot. Some of these were set up to be unintentionally restrictive, and as such you could kill a creature with a lot of health (this was most noticeable on champions) and not qualify for loot, despite qualifying for all other credit.”

It had nothing to do with the individual accounts.

Given that I was using it as an example where Anet has told us one thing, when the truth has been different, so yeah its applicable.

Perhaps Anet didn’t intend for some accounts to be flagged with a higher reward rate, but it does seem suspicious how certain accounts have win streaks that push the boundary of credibility.

When a ‘supposedly random’ computer system starts giving the same account streaks of high rewards, then maybe its time to have a check and make sure the code is working right.

Read the actual thread rather than pick and choose what you want. The issue was that there were two different rule sets for event credit and loot credit. This has absolutely nothing to do with your claim that some accounts are flagged upon creation.

I am going to have to assume that English isn’t your first language, since you can’t grasp the idea of comparing a parties action on two related subjects, when its written quite plainly, so I will try again.

1.Anet said accounts have nothing to do with rewards, lucky accounts are just player perception.

2.Anet also said when people raised the issue that they were not getting drops, that it was just player perception.

They were wrong about 2 when they checked, so since they have never bothered to check 1, how are we supposed to believe them when they say there are no ‘lucky accounts’

Here is why this is wrong, because I feel like no one here is effectively explaining it to you.

The problem that you linked was in a game wide process not functioning as intended in a specific instance. Anyone could be affected by it if they interacted with that instance.

What you are proposing is a function that does not exist. In order for accounts to be “flagged for better loot” there would need to be a better loot flag. It’s something they would have had to make in the first place and there is no reason for them to have ever done that, let alone to suspect they might have. There is no situation in which you are guaranteed an artificially improved loot chance in the game. If there was then you could point at that process and say that’s probably what is stuck on. Without a better loot flag there is no way for anyone to have accidentally tripped it on character/account creation.

It is an absurd notion.

I would like to take this one step further and allow for swapping between specific weapons skills. Which would be fairly opp, but too bad.

I’d go Ranger/Warrior, so I could use a sword auto attack that doesn’t need work arounds to work consistently. I might also swap some longbow skills.

This is the second time the same thing has happened.

I’m in my fourth year of play 12K+ ap and running approximately 192% magic find.
In that 3+ years I’ve gotten 4 precursor look-alikes.

For the second time, an inexperienced player (1700 ap, not much magic find ) has gotten a precursor on CM right in front of me. On the same drop I got blues and whites.

This time an ele walked away with Spark, the precursor I’ve wanted for years. Last time the player was on his first dungeon run and walked away with Colossus.

Does ANET punish specific players by reducing drops? Does Magic Find work?

Yes, they singled you out the moment you made an account. Maybe it something you said once, or the color of your shirt, but you upset them somehow and so they made sure to flip the anti-precursor switch so that you can’t have one.

Why not release SAB as a game for mobile devices? This would be a perfect solution for everyone. You wouldn’t have to worry about its impact on the game (GW2) but everybody who is enthusiastic about SAB could play it 24/7 on their mobile device (phone, tablet, whatever).

This could also bring new people into GW2 perhaps. People who meet the mobile game could be curious about where this came from.

You could add an option to import your GW2 char into this little game and play it with that one.

Anyways, make it happen.

An interesting idea, a completely impractical idea that doesn’t make sense, but an interesting one. Rather than fixing the problem with SAB in this game engine you would have them create a completely different game, from scratch, on a completely different platform. Every single thing, from level design to textures would have to be completely redone for this.

There is no way to port anything about GW2, nor SAB, such that it could just work on a mobile device. This is so much more work that it’s still. It would also be effectively impossible to do anything more than a side scroller, due to limitations in the controls and media. This removes the most endearing aspect of SAB which is the idea of being inside the platformer yourself rather than playing it on the screen.

Yes, thanks for saying exactly the same as i did. I would have them do that. And what the heck are you talking about being inside the platformer rather than playing it on the screen… what? It’s a 3D platformer, there is nothing about you being in it any more than that.

The entire concept of SAB is that they took the 2D platformers of the 80s and 90s and made a 3D world that your character can enter. Thus it is as if you are entering into the world yourself. You didn’t get it, that’s fine, but that’s the concept.

And no, I didn’t really say the same thing as you. I explained why it’s a bad idea and won’t happen.

Give me a number then.

How about -you- give me a number? You are the one arguing my points as inaccurate so it is up to you to prove me wrong with statistics.

As for my proof I gave all I can, which is not bad considering I do not have access to Arena Nets metrics and neither do you. I am just stating my personal opinions and observations so just stop replying to my comments demanding information that I have no obligation to give you.

So do us both a favour and drop this pointless subject, I would much rather discuss how great SAB is with those that love it and want it back.

Um, my argument is that there are no numbers. It’s up to you, not me, to back the claim you’re making. I’ve already backed the claim I’m making by not having a number. What are you even talking about.

You are incapable to backing your claim with solid, reliable information. Therefore your claim, YOUR CLAIM not mine, that it is simple to do so is false. “Some number” is the most accurate information that can be said because there is no way to define even a percentage of the population without metrics. There are no metrics. This is the point that you can’t seem to grasp.

I’m happy to discuss SAB, but there isn’t really any of that happening, and it’s not like I haven’t done it extensively for the life of this thread. I don’t like people putting out inaccurate information as fact. I corrected you, and you’ve been arguing ever since that my correction is wrong, without any ability to back up your own claim.

I accept your admission of this all being an opinion as you accepting this, finally.

What bothers me about the filter is when it takes two words that consecutive and pulls out a word that is in them and sticks kitten in the middle of it.

Tell them it’s not right, especially since you haven’t actually played it, and they might escalate it and they might refund you the difference.

Isn’t SAB mostly a jumping puzzle?

That’s a terrible idea. One’s enjoyment of jumping puzzles is entirely contingent on your familiarity with the game’s controls. The only thing you’ll achieve by putting a newbie through the hardest jumping puzzle in the game is frustrate them until they ragequit.

SAB is a platformer, that does mean it makes a lot of use verticality and jumping. However it doesn’t involve a lot of standard platformer methodology, like precisely timed jumps (Again, except in Tribulation Mode which is not required and is specifically designed to make you cry yourself to sleep.) It is by no means the most difficult jumping puzzle, that I would give to Caladon Forest, above the Nightmare Court area, or the one in Metrica Provence, or possibly South Sun. I would also count Silverwaste but it’s mostly just long, though the end is rather grueling. The actual hardest is Griffonrook Run, but only if you actually intend to open the chest. That one gives Tribulation Mode a run for its money.

SAB is a series of jumps that are usually not that hard. Some are tricky, but the consequences of failure aren’t that drastic, usually. There is also combat and clever boss fights. There is potentially a little something for everyone.

Whether you’ve actually been gone six months or only two months there has been no change. You just missed an event in the second from bottom starter zones, but it wasn’t great and also wasn’t well received.

I don’t think anyone but you can decided if it’s worth coming back. I would suggest that if you aren’t drawn to play the game then don’t. Play something else, there is no reason not to. If, in the future you feel like playing, then play again, it really doesn’t matter.

If you bought HoT then definitely come back after it’s released, but other than that, if it’s not exciting you then give it a break. That’s the benefit of their buy to play model, you can stop at any time and it won’t effect anything.

we have absolutely no way to gauge numbers

Apart from perhaps the super massive topic and the many in game protests with many, many filled maps? The tons of fan art and songs plus the fact that one person being trapped in the box is news worthy on one of the biggest MMO sites around.

http://massivelyop.com/2015/09/17/guild-wars-2-player-finds-himself-trapped-in-the-super-adventure-box/

I wish people would stop spouting nonsense.

Give me a number then. If you honestly believe that it’s in any way possible to give an accurate count or percentage of the population that currently wants SAB, and that would definitely enjoy it who hasn’t experienced it, give us this number and cite the sources.

All you are doing is saying, “some number of people that I subjectively define as large (which is specifically what I just said in that post) are waiting for SAB.” That is a true statement, but we don’t know what that number is and we can’t know. By claiming anything else you are actively lying. That is the reason I’m correcting you.

What you are spouting is inaccurate fanaticism. I love SAB and I want it back, but I don’t stand for that nonsense.

Seriously all the new players are wondering what it is and all we can reply is: “oh was the best PvE addon content Anet has done but they removed it from the game 2 years ago”.

It’s just so lame to remove content like this. Bring it back!

SAB seems to be working just fine. HMMMMMMM…

Of course it is. I never believe that poor “physics change” excuse for 1 second.

It is absolutely not working fine. Unless you are actively ready to do some serious bug testing you would not want to be in that game. This video only shows one of the many problems this player has run into and even it is a serious problem. Do you honestly want to be trapped in that room for five minutes any time you might run out of lives? That’s super broken.

Seems like Arenanet needs to come up with another reason we cannot test until some guy breaks into SAB to prove them wrong. So far, it just looks like Arenanet just couldn’t care less about SAB and threw anything that came into their mind as reasons to us.

It looks barely bugged at all. Anet lied to us.

If you guys took the time to read through the reddit post (+ comments) where the video has been posted, you would also have seen the comments by the player who got stuck in the SAB. He is writing about missing/broken collision detection, broken projectiles, endless continue room (you get stuck there when you run out of lifes) etc. he encountered in there…

These are only a few bugs from World 2-1 (first zone). All the other zones were blocked from the player, according to his original post on reddit. Do you really think these are the only bugs in existence after all the changes made to the game (most prominent change which could affect the SAB: fall dmg fixes)?

Also: The abovementioned bugs might sound like minor bugs to you, but the cause for them could lie very deep in the code and need some time to get fixed.

Releasing the SAB in its current state would only result in a lot of complaints on the forums about said bugs and could also lead to the certain, permanent death of the SAB. Just imagine you were a new player who heard about this epic instanced content which is the SAB from veterans, and then the first time you get to play it, it’s a bugged, nearly unplayable mess. Do you think such a player would enjoy it and/or ever go in there again?

Don’t get me wrong, I want the SAB back as much as everyone here… But I’d rather have it in its fixed state than in a broken one.

As someone with an ICC I am definitely not a new player who will get freaked out about the bugs, and I would absolutely be willing to bug test SAB for them while they’re doing not SAB. Doesn’t it seem like it would be easier to fix all the problems if there were some people inside checking the problems? Especially people who are familiar enough with how the game is supposed to run to say, this is what it did and is supposed to do, this is what it is actually doing?"

Give ICC owners unrestricted access to SAB under the expectation that they will bug test it. I would absolutely do that, and I expect a large number of others would also.

“We”?

`We´ would not be wrong as the majority of people want it.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Super-Adventure-Box-merged-1/page/52#post5475452

No doubt this will be merged.

Some group of people want it. It is impossible to accurately gauge the percentage of the population of the game that do. But a sizable number do and it is reasonable to expect that a large population of new players would also enjoy it if it returned.

Some people want it? That is a gross understatement.

This is kinda is easy to gauge, many SAB protests in game, a massive topic on the forums, we even have a SAB music video begging for SAB to return! Couple this with very few people posting against the return of SAB and I think you have your answer.

SAB will return, soon as we get this HoT nonsense out of the way.

Some is actually the single most accurate descriptor of the number of people who want SAB, it is also the single most accurate descriptor of the people who don’t, and also of the people who don’t care one way or another. The reason is, we have absolutely no way to gauge numbers, nor even percentages of the population. Therefore some number do want it and some don’t. The number who do want it is subjectively large. A subjectively large number of people who have never experienced SAB would also probably enjoy SAB, but we have no accurate way of determining it.

Regardless of accuracy and subjective values the number that do and would should still be sufficient to warrant ANet’s attention and desire to fix the problem. Unfortunately ANet in its current incarnation seems to be completely trash at time and resource management, and continues to push projects like this back.

What I would actually like to see is a Hall of Monuments kind of thing where you can actually attach the item to it and it would display in your home instance in some way. Then you would always have it and wouldn’t need to carry it around in your inventory. There is a huge variety of things this could include, not just random items like those mentioned by the OP, but also some of the rewards of those events like the Zephyrite statue.

Each race has its dragon = expansion (theory)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kal Spiro.9745

Kal Spiro.9745

So…
sylvari – they are tempted by their father Mordremoth
charr – could be under Kralkatorrik influence
norn – obviously even now some of them follow Jormag
human – Bubbles?
asura – Primodus?
Zaithan had to go down first because he made minions out of corpses, so had no potential of gaining living allies. Each of the others can tempt followers, which wolud create similar experience for every playable race: being suspected of cooperation with dragon, mistrust, internal conflict.
Whould that be ArenaNet’s idea for expansions lore?

The Sylvari are the only race directly linked to a dragon. Jormag can turn any living thing it can tempt into a minion. Jormag is the most like Mordemoth in this way since he doesn’t seem to alter Norn by shear will, but rather convinces them to accept his power at which point they become his true minions, losing themselves to him will like the Sylvari to Mordremoth. Norn are the brunt of his influence, but he is by no means limited to them and has even taken Kodan.

Kralktorrik, on the other hand can alter anything his power touches into a minion, including nonorganics, like elementals. While his power is limited to Charr lands that is coincidental and both Humans and Charr along with any number of other creatures have been altered by him.

Primordus, on an even more remote hand, does not seem to make use of creatures at all. He does not convert the wild beasts and subhuman moderately intelligent creatures into his minions he simply converts the rock and lava itself into them, crafting them from nothing. He pushed out the Asura and the Dwarves, but he didn’t make minions of them, just killed them outright.

Bubbles, aka. Steve, has no direct connection to any of the major races and is only somewhat associated with Quaggan and Krait. There is no indication at all how it makes its minions.

I’m curious what your class and build is that you’re having so much trouble. I have occasionally had difficulty with specific personal story missions, but they have typically been due to underleveling, undergearing and specific enemies that my class/build happens to be weak to at that time.

[Suggestion] Bring back 1-time events

I still don’t know how I managed to be in most of the one off events, like the Karka, but I honestly disagree.

I don’t want one off events for the simple fact that it’s likely most people will not have the opportunity, for a variety of reasons, to ever participate.

I’m totally cool with the nonrepeating events that were Season 1, but the events like the first Halloween day and the Karka event were bad ideas. They need to be events that anyone can attend regardless of responsibilities and circumstances because they extend beyond a single point in time.

I would love to see the first Halloween day event as an instance so I can actually be standing there when King Thorne blasts through the fountain, rather than just watching it happen on YouTube.

Sad Trinity is Sad

Kal Spiro.9745

The absolute weakest aspect of GW2 is the organized group content. It simply isn’t fun without a trinity in my personal opinion. When everyone runs pure glass cannon dps builds because everything dies in ten seconds, then we have a problem. We’ve had this problem for a while now.

I understand this was a selling point for the game for many, including myself. Unfortunately, after a while, i came to the conclusion that i missed the organized nature of the trinity and was willing to put up with the headaches associated with finding healers and tanks, rather than continue with GW2 despite loving everything else about it.

On the other hand – GW2’s combat system is by far the best of any MMO as far as PVP goes.

You have your cause and effect backwards. People don’t run glass cannons because everything dies fast. Everything dies fast because everyone runs glass cannons. And because they can get away with it without any down side, they do so.

I am currently playing GW1 for HoM rewards and I will say, straight up, Henchmen would server no realistic purpose in this game. So, no.

Henchmen were meaningful in GW1 because the whole game was instanced. GW2 is a true MMO in that the majority of the world is open. Only personal story, which is 100% soloable and dungeons which are intended to be group content are instanced. In both cases Henchmen are not intended for the content.

I spent 30 mins and I got nothing And the sad part is I would have gotten something if I had that last 25 blooms, now all I got to show for this event is a bitter taste in my mouth.

If you played since the first day you should expect a prize of unfulfilled blooms. While it’s unclear how many that is, you should hang out and wait before blowing what you have on anything else.

I don’t know what you’re on about, my Charr Warrior has massive arms, he has massive everything because I make him the most muscular body type and made him as large as possible.

Sad Trinity is Sad

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Kal Spiro.9745

I prefer the City of Heroes model. It uses the same aspects GW2: Mitigation, Control, and Damage. Everyone has damage to some degree and everyone has healing to some degree because there is in combat regen. To a lesser degree everyone has some minor control and buffing. Then take those aspects and specialize into two sub categories of them.

Blasters, Scrappers, Defenders and Tankers specialize in damage. Blasters and Defenders in ranged damage, Scrappers and Tankers in melee. Blaster and Scrappers have primary specialization, Defenders and Tankers have secondary Specialization.

Defenders, Tankers, Scrappers and Controllers specialize in Mitigation which is buffing, debuffing or healing. Defenders and Controllers in area mitigation, Tankers and Scrappers in personal mitigation. Defenders and Tankers have primary specialization, Controllers and Scrapper have secondary specialization.

Controllers specialize primarily in Control.

Blasters are more free form in their secondary taking a bit from everything.

Because everyone has some combination of trinity elements you don’t have to have a strict trinity group in order to complete content. If you make a group of just controllers it will potentially take a while because damage isn’t a primary attribute, but you can easily stop a room from acting and even if something could act you’ve mitigated the damage to the point that everything is easy, just slow. A group of all scrappers is going to move fast through content because they have high damage, but they have to be more careful because they’re more susceptible to control and have less mitigation.

It inspires cooperation, working together, and knowing your role, while also allowing everyone to play their way and doesn’t force them to act a specific way as strictly.

Staff, Sword/Sword running Glint exclusively, running Facet of Light and Strength constantly and then cycling through the other facets for active powers as needed.

Retribution/Devastation/Herald with a combination of Assassin, Berserker, Valkyrie and Knight gear and Eagle runes. It runs at 10 might base. During beta I used Strength because they were available, and it was absurdly easy to have 25 might constantly, but Strength is expensive so I’m relying on Strength sigil for that instead.

Maybe they were trying to use the progress system used in Escape from Lion’s Arch where you need to reach certain points to earn better rewards, but instead of a map wide progress tracking, they individualized it. People were complaining that some were just AFK’ing the event, so people wanted a personal contribution tracking instead. Well, kitten if you do, kitten if you don’t eh?

Maybe a little of both could have been in order since it also tracks how well the whole zone is doing. Why bother to track that if it’s not going to figure into the total?

Having each event reward a blossom seems better, except that they don’t want to reward nearly that many blossoms, apparently. Even rewarding a chance for blossoms would be bad because there is always those people who would work harder than everyone and still gain no extra blossoms.

This is the fairest method. I DCed once the whole event, because my personal network was messed up. I have never DCed because of ANet’s network. It’s unlikely that anyone else is either, though everyone else seems to always believe it’s not their stuff that’s messing up.

Why excited for Gliding but not UnderWater?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Kal Spiro.9745

Kal Spiro.9745

The problem is the game was never well suited to underwater. It doesn’t offer compelling gameplay, exploration, nor combat. It’s clunky at best. Unfortunately they really can’t remove it entirely because of how much of so many maps they invested in for it. Perhaps, one day, if we ever get to the underwater dragon, they will actively and completely overhaul the system, preferably removing the differentiation between underwater and land based equipment.

Until that it will be a sad thing that we still have to do, but that just isn’t well done.

Also gliding is fun, probably because it isn’t combat based.

Did Anyone Unlock Precursor Mastery?

Traders stop spreading wrong information!

Fact is (from blogpost and Interview and everywhere) all precursor from collections and from these precursor crafted legendary’s WILL BE ACCOUNTBOUND!
Current rng precursor and new rng precursor will be tradeable!

There is nothing to discuss about these facts or to understand different. Everyone who tells otherwise just wants precursor droping in price right now to buy them and get alot of gold with HoT release…

Where in the blog post did it state that? It only said that in the part where it was referring to the new legendary weapons, and its precursors, which haven’t been revealed yet.

You have to actively choose to read it wrong in order to not understand.

It is very clear in that it says the new precursors will be a new thing using the old skin. They’re very clear in clarifying that the new versions of the current precursors will not be the same item. Since they’re making a clear distinction between the new version and the old version it is equally clear that when they say existing precursors they only mean the ones that drop as RNG. The new collection based ones will not be the existing ones, they will simply use the same skins as the existing ones. They specifically point this out in the blog.

They will not be tradeable.

Please allow Elite Spec at level 21

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Kal Spiro.9745

Kal Spiro.9745

It is completely relevant, end game content to be given to low levels is still end game content being given to low levels.

Just because you choose to view it differently because it suits what you want does not make it any different.

In what way is it endgame content? It’s your character. Raids are endgame content, it’s content you play at the highest levels of the game. Your class is just your class. It’s what you play for the life of your character. Classes aren’t content. The things you do with those classes is content. That is why so many MMOs offer a way to instantly level characters to max level when they introduce new content, even if they also introduce a new class.

Like I said, I’m totally on board with having to acquire it as endgame content, but it should not be a character bound acquisition. It should be account bound, so the first character has to be 80 to unlock it, but after that just let us use it whenever we want. There isn’t a single elite spec that is worth having to wade through 80 levels before acquiring every single time.

What’s more, most of us can instantly have a level 80 anyway. What exactly is the difference? I intend to have a Herald on day one. So how does it matter if I burn through a scroll for level 30 then 50 tomes of knowledge to be level 80 to use that trait line or I level the old fashioned way, but start using the trait line at level 21, assuming I’d already unlocked it?

Kal Spiro.9745

Too bad it has misinformation, such as the Ranger Pet Names issue.

I doubt any Devs will respond here; though, of course, one never knows for sure.

Good luck.

I think the author means that if you have a pet moa called e.g. “Cedo” and a pet bear called “Mercury” and you switch out “Cedo” for a hawk, it will inherit the name “Cedo”. If you then change it to be called “Gaile” and switch it to the moa again, it is still called Gaile.

However he calls that a bug, and that is wrong. It is a way how petnames are handled by the game. It can be done different, and this method lacks some immersion, but it functions properly so isn’t a bug, but just a feature that is in his eyes poor.

For the rest you don’t see a lot of examples. I also disagree that there are too many bugs around. I think the author is confusing choices made with bugs (just like the petnames). one can say that the game lacks diversity. But thats not a bug, but a opinion.
Same as the statement bout spirits. I even disgagree there are huge issues with them.

It shows a lot of entitlement, which is imo the main issue with the entire article. By calling things bugs and broken, he is claiming to be entitled to have a dev response. As these are choices made and not bugs nor broken, he is also not entitled to have such a response. (though devs, feel free to respond to it, not being entitled to it, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t

I also disagree with the lack of interaction. The problem is that a dev should stand for their choices. Going into the ranger forum and defending certain choices is recipe for dissaster. half of the complaints bout a class are not even justified cause they are based on people wanting to be invincable. So they have to be carefull in really interacting. But they do listen. They do share proposed changes and they do adept things based on that feedback. Just that it is not to everybody’s liking is a fact of life.

Petname isn’t a choice they made, it’s a legitimate bug they never fixed. You have failed to describe the mechanics correctly. Play more Ranger and you’ll get it. Some times the situation you describe does happen, sometimes the name is just lost and the pet becomes juvenile whatever animal. This is why it’s a bug. The name is lost to the ether.

I do agree that some of it is mechanics not working the way the community at large thinks they should or would like, some of them are the Ranger sword actually causing you to be unable to dodge for half a second or more after the end of the second animation, which is deadly and very much not working as intended. If it is intended then it’s just bad design.

There are a lot of bugs and many more design choices, and not just in the Ranger.

ANet does not, in any meaningful way, talk to us enough about anything they do. They used to, then they stopped. The last time we had a good conversation with anyone from ANet about anything to do with the game was the second time SAB came out, and they actively silenced Josh Foreman because of it.

This is only partially wrong. Pet names are wiped when you change your pets out for different pets, not when you use the pet swap mechanic. It is an actual thing, and has been since before the release of the game. There is no indication that it will ever be fixed.
