I tend to agree, they should be Masterwork at best. While I’m plesantly surprised when a box ends up containing an actual rare, when I see them I expect to get one of these items instead.
I honestly don’t see the point of giving stealth to Hunter’s Shot. IMO, it would be perfect for the shortbow after the range nerf, but the longbow is meant to be used at very long range, where it’s easier to avoid ranged attacks, and it already has a counter against melee attacks in Point Blank Shot.
I’ve been trying to point this out but people keep shouting me down otherwise.
It’s a longbow. You should be at quite a bit of range. We basically lost DPS for slight utility that honestly doesn’t even do that much good. I’m aware you can stealth+rez but you will not get the rez off in time and the dps loss IS NOT WORTH IT.
There is no such thing as being at quite a bit of range. Things run at you, and no matter how good you are at mobility they will catch you. Stealth helps give you breathing room.
It would be extremely OP if it was possible though. Good choice. Bryzy, if you can, please try piercing shot with rapid shot and see vulnerable stacks with all units. I want to do AOE Vulnerable to my enemies in pvp. I would appreciate it. =)
That was how hunters used to work, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t with rapid
I know this isn’t the first list of pets we wish for the future, but can we make this the first one where we avoid spamming the A-net team with all sorts of unrealistic wishes….
Name ONE pet u’d like to see in the future!
My wish is; GRIFFON
(the juveniles could be a tiny bit smaller that the adults though…)
I want a pet everything that counts as a creature and comes in multiple types.
Griffon
Raptor
Skelk
Scale
Wurm
Deer/Goats
Why should they be any different?
(edited by Kal Spiro.9745)
The part I see is on the first try, you actually just finished the attack animation. (And damage pops up…) after which you dodge. The second time you swap your weapon to cancel the auto-attack.
Mind you weapon swapping is not always available or something you should want when you need to dodge a big hit.
As for the last part; any Ranger should know how to micro-manage their pet by now.
Also this:
I can think of much better ways to get carpel tunnel than smashing my one key because Anet doesn’t want to fix the sword.
The best way to make sure you’re able to dodge when needed is to disable the auto-attack.
Although I must confess, using the auto-attack manually while actively target switching can be amazing, but this takes much practise. It’s interesting to use for that reason, but I can’t see myself bothered to stick to the sword exclusively because I’d mess up my hand. And I need that hand to play bass so I can inspire my server to kick kitten (or mute my microphone in TS.)
Working as intended? I don’t know.
But it’s possible to “work around” the weapon’s limitations. Which is possibly why a lot of people complain they don’t want the weapon ‘fixed’. ‘Fraid it’d dumb the weapon down or something.I for one care more about my health than about a higher skill ceiling for the Ranger.
Is there any other weapon for any other class where the only way to use the auto attack effectively is to actually disable it and use it manually?
Why make such a thing at all? The whole point is that it cycles through without your intervention, which is why it defaults with autoattack on in the first place.
I have a very hard time accepting that a weapon is good or capable when you actively have to use a workaround to use it at all. This isn’t a matter of skill, work arounds are for things that are broken but don’t have an effective fix yet. How about we just get the fix instead of being forced to deal with the workaround?
I would trade hit, hit, evade for harder hit, harder hit, harder hit.
It’s a better overall weapon, much more functional and user friendsly. If the auto isn’t as powerful I’m still not going to give up the rest for the terrible design that is the longsword. I’d never turn my nose up at a damage buff, but for the whole weapon in comparison, I’m not concerned and I wouldn’t change.
I want to change too. I’d like to run Sword/Dagger, but I am incapable of stomaching Sword for how bad it is.
The funny part is that Greatsword is inferior to the spear. You get more damage AND a 1.5 second evade on the auto attack. Usually underwater weapons are the same strength or weaker.
Give me spear as a land weapon and I’d be a happy camper.
Can we please get the longbow autoattack fixed now? Remove the lower tier value, move the medium value to 0-600, and the high value to 600+ please.
The greatsword autoattack also needs buffing, please. It is quite behind the mainhand sword’s autoattack by quite a bit and it’s part of the reason why it’s not being used in PvE as it’s quite a substantial damage decrease.
Why would I trade hit, hit, evade, for hit, root yourself, root yourself? Greatsword auto is fine the way it is. And Longsword auto needs a lot of work to make it even useable, let alone useful. For a sword designed around mobility and evasion it’s a terrible power chain to have.
It would be nice if point blank shot was a blast finisher too, it would make the power more worthwhile in everyday use. Though I’m still happy for the other changes to Longbow. I’m actually not happy losing the bleed on maul, though, it makes me 100% conditionless.
@up and then PvE-only players would cry that their cannot get 2/3 of the achievements…
the problem is – thera are alwys somebody that will cry and hate system…Fact is, some PvE only players are already upset that a single achievement that is not required for the meta is available only through WvW interaction. Being upset over that is beyond childish when you consider that while PvE only players can get the meta, WvW and PvP only players CANNOT get the meta at all.
I’ve got every single achievement for this event because I participated in every aspect of the game.
If you want to be a PvE only player then you need to simply grow up and come to terms with the fact that you are personally limiting yourself to PvE only achievements. Take some satisfaction knowing that 80% of the achievements in the game are PvE and leave the WvW and PvP players alone!
This is a +1
On top of that, you can also take the option to simply suffer through something you don’t enjoy, but do it knowing it wasn’t meant for you in the first place.
Sorry, no. There’s just no more discussion to be had about it.
And yes, it is whining. You have guys throwing tantrums and saying they’re quitting altogether because of it. People saying they’ll never do Living Story again because they’re just gonna take their ball and go back home to Orr. People crying about how some meanie in the PvP area killed them.
You don’t think a kite should be in the EB JP? Fine. That’s your point, you made it a while back, game over. Sadly for you, the devs disagree, and it’s their game. They want to have stuff like this in all areas of their game. If a kite being in Obsidian Sanctum is really just too much for you to handle, then you’re not contractually obligated to keep playing, you can just move on.
I guess you already have the achievement, my advice is, if you aren’t providing feedback on something you are actually experiencing keep quiet. Because while you may not be having difficulties with these things other players are, and it isn’t because of lack of coordination, or levels, or gear, etc. Its because of a mechanic that encourages players to camp a specific point for the sole reason of preventing other players from attaining a time sensitive achievement.
This is the basic definition of harassing and griefing.
I have the achievement too. I hate PvP. I dislike WvW. I was choked out of the JP three times in a row during multiple divergent times of day. When I finally did get it I did so by powering through enemy campers who still killed me seconds after I got close enough to the kite to get the achievement anyway.
I did it solo, every time. If you aren’t able to do it yourself, it’s because of a lack on your side, not because of a design flaw in the game, nor the area. ANet has actually taken great pains to fix the major design flaws. The best thing they did was prevent people from using seige weapons in the puzzle. It is now fair, completely fair. One person has no hope of clearing campers, but a sufficiently powerful and coordinated counter group can, no matter where they are.
You’re not providing anything to the conversation by saying, “Don’t comment if you disagree with me.” I disagree with you. I have the same difficulties and deficiencies as you. I still succeeded against the odds because I was determined. Therefore you have no valid argument.
(edited by Kal Spiro.9745)
That doesn’t matter to most. They just want to rail on us PvE ‘carebears’ that they think are unwilling to try and unskilled to boot. shakes head
No, it’s just that the constant whining gets old.
Plus you guys seem to have this fantasy of this sacred wall between WvW and PvE that never ever ever gets crossed, ever, and this one thing is a huge slap in your face or something. Meanwhile those of us that focus on WvW and have to do PvE-stuff all the time are just seeing what appears to be a bunch of entitled whiners that already have the majority of the game catering to them so much that now they’re spoiled and can’t handle one little achievement potentially being tough to get.
I mean really, people posting that they’re going to quit over a kite? How is that even a thing?
Complaints of what seems to be a poorly implemented idea is not whining. It is making our irritation known. Just as WvWers complain about the achievement system being poorly implemented for them. Again, that is complaining and not whining.
My biggest problem with the kite being in the puzzle is it is a terrible introduction to WvW because it does not represent what WvW is. It feels like PvP, not WvW. So it gives the wrong idea of what WvW is and drives many potential WvWers away. I know, personally, if that JP had been my first taste of WvW that I would never go back.
And before you jump on me as many in the past have, I have not only gotten it of my own accord this time and last but I have also escorted and portalled guildies and others from my server.
How is it poorly implemented? They quite successfully created a zone where people are encouraged to fight eachother in order to gain a tangible reward. An area that simultaneously causes people who don’t actually want to be involved to consistently subject themselves to the turmoil of the event.
This is exactly what they were trying to create, in every way. All you have to do is read the dev statements to realize that. As such it was implemented perfectly and therefore any complaints that it wasn’t are, in fact, whining.
Your complaint is that you don’t want to do the content in the way they specifically designed it. That you don’t want to feel like you have to do it, even though you don’t, and that you want to get the reward without playing in the manner they designed the area to be played as. That is whining.
Hmm. Interesting how the actual argument gets ignored time and time again by people jumping in the thread and not reading anything that came before.
What actual argument exactly? The actual argument is that a guy from a rival server is complaining that our server was camping the site and preventing him from getting through, despite the fact that his server did the exact same thing back to us.
The argument is that he has really bad timing and plays when we control the map instead of when his people do.
The actual argument is that most of us don’t think that the kite should be in the puzzle in the first place.
If you’re going to put it that way, then the argument is that some of you don’t think that, and most of us don’t care or think it’s fine as is.

I know a few folks who are:
a) OCD about attaining PvE achievements
b) Bought the game on the pretense that they would not have to participate in PvP.Still seems like a bait and switch when PvE achievements have a PvP map in them. (Fortunately for them I just ported them across being a mez; though they were pretty terrified by the idea but equally anxious on missing their achievement.)
It isn’t a PvE achievement, it’s a a Living Story achievement and as such it has points in every aspect the update includes. Not just PvE.
There will always be people claiming it is just -pvp- and tough cookie. However you will always find that those people are ALWAYS without a shadow of a doubt the ones doing the camping of these areas or in other games corpse camping someone for HOURS. Which at that point it goes beyond just -pvp- and into trolling/griefing a player.
How does it feel to make an absolute statement and automatically negate the legitimacy of said statement?
I claim it is just pvp and tough cookies. I also hate PvP and avoid it at every oppotunity. I don’t corpse camp, I don’t Juzzle camp. I don’t take advantage of choke points, I try to avoid other players in Obsidian Sanctum as much as I possibly can. At the same time, when someone else is not avoiding me and going out of their way to harrass me, I say, “Well kitten , I guess I’m not going to make it this time cause this is a PvP zone and PvP is happening at me.”
So, it’s just pvp and tough cookies.
Yes, remove PvP, and while you’re at it remove the rewards and don’t use it ever again. The whole point is the PvP. It’s a rediculously easy, if excessively long puzzle without the bottle necks from PvP.
This is a bug from back at launch, but they fixed it a long time ago, I haven’t experienced it again since then.
I don’t know, sounds like you guys are doing something wrong. I completed the achievement just fine.
Every time I get within range of Morgan’s Spiral today I crash to desktop. Considering that I was with a group of about five people intend on restoring the spiral and after returning the spiral was destroyed again I’m assuming everyone else is having the same issue.
This issue only started occuring recently within the last week.
I am also now unable to play my new character because she’s within the range of the crash so as soon as I start loading into Caladon Forest the game crashes again.
That’s what I thought, I was under the impression thwe baskets were supposed to be an easy way to get fortunes, but none of the baskets are ever useable.
Why exactly was this even conceived of, let alone posted on the forums? What purpose does this thread serve exactly?
I’m actually impressed, these kinds of suggestions are usually full of stupid crap that only benefits a very small and select group of likeminded individuals.
These are actually very useful mechanical updates.
Just a few comments.
For Friends/Party 2) You already asked for the option to hide and unhide your quest indicator, I don’t want to replace mine with theirs, I would just like to see theirs, probably in a different color.
3) It doesn’t necessarily need to be bigger or more obtrusive, just make it show up like nearby events and waypoints. If they’re not in your immediate view have the dot show on the edge of the screen in the direction they are.
Achievement UI 1) While a timer would be nice to see, you really can’t blame them for not knowing the duration of the events. they were pretty clearly labeled in a few locations on the website. You may not think you should need to check the website for information, but I and probably ANet does not seem to agree on that point.
I really like all the rest as they are. Good post.
And before devs respond with “you don’t have to go there to get the 16 achievements” remember that you just added achievement rewards which makes all achievement points valuable now.
So, according to you, ANet is forever prohibited from putting anything valuable in the Obsidian Sanctum.
No, but they have a responsibility to ensure that all servers have an equal chance of at least getting into the zone to try and get them. If this stuff was perminant it wouldn’t be a problem, but it’s not. When you only have a handful of weeks to do it and you spend an entirety of one of them without even being able to access the zone, that’s not alright.
Agreed. I would like for them to removed the entrance from the strongholds and just make another portal at the portal site that goes right to it.
Of course that’s mostly because I really don’t like the idea of a seriously dominant server being able to actually remove other server’s access from their gates.
Looked again and found what you explained. I was seeing the point breakdown by tier, but missed the requirement breakdown.
So are we content now, or still displeased.
Sorry guys, but this is not ANet’s fault. People need to stop complaining about things that are 100% a result of their network and connection to the source. Stop trying to ruin the experience for those of us in a location that is more reasonable for playing the game just because you have bad lag. Is it disappointing to be unable to fully participate? Sure, but it’s not the end of the world. You need to realize your limitation and work within them, not try and force everyone else to work within them too.
If you’ve never seen movement issues that just means you don’t play the game. In a recent patch they even noted fixing the engi rifle #5 because of the positional desyncing that it used to do. It’s still slightly wonky. These are bugs acknowledged by Anet.
Network latency does not adequately explain why a scripted move (lightning to selected location) can stop in midair (you can’t choose to stop yourself even if you want to). Either you input the skill or you didn’t, if there’s lag that just means you don’t see yourself land until later. There is no reason why a character who has given input with a static effect should get different results based on network latency. Either way you cut it, it’s a bug.
Desyncing isn’t a movement problem, nor is it related in any way to what is being complained about here. I play a Charr Engineer, I know all about desyncing. She couldn’t hold a flamethrower or rifle to save her life.
I’ve been having a blast with all the powers and never experienced the issue described. I don’t have lag unless the immediate area is completely packed with people such that massive culling is occuring. And even then I haven’t experienced that level of lag since the original Southsun event. As such I can only attribute the problem to network based lag. The power works as it is intended. It makes you jump to a specfic area and if you’re too high you stop in midair and fall to the target location. If the area is to high you jump to the appropriate XY coordinates then fall.
If you think it’s a bug, put in a bug report. There is a forum for bugs and a system in place for reporting them. Complaining about it here is not part of that system.

I would totally agree with this if the achievement was only for one character, but since it’s across the account I see no reason why my Ranger mastering longbow should make my warrior better with one.
My point still stands. I’ve hovered over every darn thing in the Achievement Screen and it does not show the total number needed to complete the highest tier (unless you’re already in the highest tier.) As before, you have to “watch” the achievement in order to get a mouseover with that information. It’s this clunky watch/unwatch rigamarole we have to go through to learn what is needed. This is especially a problem if you’re watching other things and doing this overwrites the items you really want to watch.
Then, you’re doing it wrong. Step one, open achievment tab. Step two, find the achievements you’re interested in. Step three, select that achievement, taking you to the achievements individual page. Step four, hover mouse over teir description, not the big block.
This will give a breakdown of exactly how many teirs there are, and what the requirement for each teir is.
Despite all these arguments about what IS and IS NOT fantasy, the bottom line is that ANet is likely limited in scope and resources as to what they can put out in these content patches so as not to conflict with the overall main story arch that they have and will be presenting.
All of these content “patches” are different….some are combat oriented, some have strong story-lines and some are just designed to provide some content filler. Anyone has the right to complain about how they don’t like this one or that one, but EVERYONE should keep in mind that they are FREE and none of them are required to actually complete the original game that you paid for.
Except that chonologically everything that happens in the updates is occuring after Zaitan has been defeated. Therefore they can do anything they want without having to worry about the main story.
This kite is ridiculous. There were 3 of us from Dragonbrand going up and working together to get the kite and when we made it up to the top we were ganked by 3 people from Tarnished Coast. We were all killed and then they proceeded to jump on our corpses and do other insulting things to us. I decided to wait for someone from Dragonbrand to come by to give me a res, but when someone made it the campers just killed them too. They have been camping there for over an hour now and show no sign of leaving. People just have NO HOPE of completing this meta event when there are campers at the kite… At least just for this event, for one week, everyone should be friendly at this JP. This is ridiculous. I completed what I was supposed to complete and I am literally within feet of the kite, but because someone decided to be a jerk I don’t get to get my Gift of Crystal Quartz? I have 14/16 achievements and am thinking that this is going to be impossible because of campers.
Good, I hope they made your day because when I tried to get there I was ganked no less than three times by Dragonbrand, with at least three camping the end. The beauty of the kites is that unlike the Aetherboxes you don’t have to interact with it in any way. I was able to power through the Dragonbrand lines and got close enough to the kite to get the achievements before they killed me.
And do you know what? That’s how it’s supposed to go down, cause it’s WvW. I didn’t complain the first three times I was taken out before even getting that far. I shrugged and logged and tried again later.
I just left SWoTR for this. I don’t like syfy at all, and this game is starting to feel very syfy
Technically, Star Wars isn’t even sci-fi. Space Opera, Science Fantasy, but there really isn’t any attempt at science in Star Wars.
And Syfy is the cable channel.
Honestly its all the same to me. I don’t like the “Sci-Fi” genre at all. Fake science is nonsensical. Science and fiction are more or less antonyms. I’ve never seen the 2 put together where it doesn’t make me cringe.
Science Fiction means, things that could possibly be made real with technology, but are not at this time a thing available to people. Like androids, flying cars and regular affordable space travel. Star Wars is Science Fiction because it has those elements and is in another galaxy entirely.
Fantasy means, things that are wonderous, magical and nonsensical, where anything beyond the scope normal occurance can only be attributed to magic in some way. Typically they take place in areas of primitive technology. Star Wars is also Fantasy, though, because a lot of the story revolves around swords and sorcery.
Steampunk means, things that are technologically advanced at least to the level we are, but sometimes even beyond the level we are, but in a world that should not be so advanced, and using low tech analog power sources and resources to opperate their technology. (this is for later references sources)
Guild Wars is Fantasy with few very specific exceptions. Everything wonderous and super human is attributed to magic. The most technically advanced race is entirely reliant on magic as a force to perpetuate thier technology. The extent of the Sci-Fi elements in Guild Wars revolve entirely around the Dredge and Charr who are more Steampunk than Sci-Fi, but the Dredge do have powered suits.
.But I think that rewarding such large amounts is really just not fair. I mean in the past, you really had to earn your badges and as a casual WvWer, it could take quite a while to get a stack of 250.
“In the past, my great grandma had to walk to the nearest water place to wash all of her clothes by hand, so it’s not really fair that people get washing machines these days”
Life is not fair. Deal with it. We move forward, we progress. Things get better.
That said, these are one time rewards. You’re getting a lot of them now because, like most people, the system just came out and, fortunately, works retroactively, so most of us have quite a pile up of achievement points to cash in. Once you catch up to your current AP you won’t be getting these daily.
How is that an even partially reasonable argument? One way or another your granny still has to do the laundry, one way takes less work, but it still involves interacting with things relevant to laundry.
I have not set foot in WvW since I finished map completion, short of a quick stop to get ot he the JP for Aether and Kite Achievements. I barely had half a stack of badges. I know have a Gift of Battle thanks to random reward in the chests. Do I deserve it? No, I absolutely do not, I didn’t do a single thing in the world to earn it. But I got it for free, just cause.
To repair your little argument. “When my Grandma was older she had to walk to the nearest water place to scrub her laundry by hand for hours. Now some random person delivers her brand new clothes every day for free.”
Hmm, one element of the various arguments I don’t understand is the relevance of the amount of effort it took to go from 30/30 to 50/50.
I’m not in any way implying that it was easy – I couldn’t do it. I don’t have the time or the patience, so good job to the people who did it.
BUT. I do believe it was clear that there would be no tangible rewards for any levels higher then 30/30 for people getting the HoM achievements. The rewards would be vanity items only, such as titles. Which you got.
Entering into that agreement, you basically declared that you were aware your reward would be essentially titles. And the huge satisfaction of getting through the challenge. And you know what? You WERE happy with that. That WAS the reward. It was the advertised reward and it was the received reward and nobody thought any more about it.
But the MOMENT ANet hand you some more stuff, you decide that you deserve more. You say it yourself “we deserve it”. Why? You got exactly what you signed up for and deserved. Now you ask for more, which, to me, rather suggests that this would go above and beyond what is strictly deserved.
Oh, I’m not saying I’m against the rewards, and I am not asking anyone to give anything back or saying you shouldn’t have these. I couldn’t care less about any of that (as you’ll see I’ve said already several times).
I’m just interested in where this request for more actually fits in, because the argument “we deserve it” doesn’t fit in. You DO deserve what you already have. I didn’t think anyone was really denying that (leaving aside the AP points, as that wasn’t previously given). The AP points, well, I could argue either way on that one though it doesn’t bother me. But it DOES show that ANet have now rewarded you above and beyond what they originally advertised (ie what you could reasonably demand with the term “deserve”), and still you feel you deserve more. THAT’S the bit I don’t get.
Accepting what you get, and deserving more than you get are in no way related circumstances.
That said I’m not saying they deserve anything, but I think it would be an acceptable reward for the effort if extra rewards beyond what was already promised are being handed out anyway. It being the extra AP and only the extra AP.
Sadly yes it is. Which is silly. If my friends suddenly got a bunch of ap I would be happy for them. I wouldn’t say “well that’s not fair, I want those rewards too”. Simple enough really, go earn them.
Are you telling GW2 players to go out and buy GW1 so that they can remain competitive in GW2? Don’t you realize how absurd that sounds, to tell us to buy another game?
Technically, it’s the same game, as both are connected by lore. For those who played GW1, and connect it to GW2, your new characters are descendants from your previous.
Alright, stop it, they’re not the same game. That’s like saying that Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars Galaxies is the same game because they happened to be in the same universe.
GW1 is separated by GW2 by 300 or so years. They’re nothing alike thematically nor mechanically. They only exist in the game world, that is all.
I will point out, once again, I don’t enjoy GW1 and will never get 50/50. I’ll be lucky if I can get 30/30. I actually got my GW1 account when they announced the account linking and reserving character names thing for GW2, so I’ve played it even less than you have. So now you get where I’m coming from, maybe. I still support this and think it’s a very good and cool idea.
I knew where u were coming from. The “you” in my last sentences in my previous post was directed towards the OP.
But now that you’ve brought up the fact that you barely played GW1…how would you know how difficult it is to get 50/50?
I say it is not difficult for reasons in my previous post, you and OP apparently think it is and that this “oh so great feat” deserves hundreds of gold on top of the 500 AP, Exclusive Skins and Titles that money can’t buy, in a totally different game…..Got it.
Because I also researched heavily what was necessarily to do to get the points I would need to get everything I wanted. All that information makes it abundantly clear how difficult that task is and why there aren’t many of them in the community.
But who said anything about gold? I definately didn’t say gold. I’m talking about 500AP, that’s all. That is worth 2 gold at best, and that is only if you have a brand new account since it would get you the 100 prize and the 500 prize.
He’s asking for a precursor for every 50/50s…which atm is anywhere up to 600g. I thought this is the idea you were supporting.
I actually see a lot of 50/50s out there, i know some 50/50s that don’t even play GW2 anymore and went back to GW1…there is quite a few of them in the community I can assure you.
Also, people value things differently. In my previous post I already stated the current reward is very good because they can’t be bought with GW2 gold. They’re “exclusive”.
Anyone can get a precursor from the TP by running CoF for a week if they want to. But no amount of CoF is going to get you Fiery gauntlet (which is still one of the best looking vambraces in the game imo), no amount of CoF will get you 500 achievement points, and no amount of CoF will get you GWAMM title. They are priceless.
No, that’s a stupid idea and I don’t support that. I support giving them an extra 500 AP just cause. That doesn’t effect anyone or make any kind of difference in the game and was the original suggestion.
Scale is definate, taking 555k damage in a fall, concidering I take half damage that was over a million points of damage in one shot.
Did you land on a nuke??
I attempted to save myself by using the sun power, but I think it might have made me hit the ground harder instead.
I will point out, once again, I don’t enjoy GW1 and will never get 50/50. I’ll be lucky if I can get 30/30. But who said anything about gold? I definately didn’t say gold. I’m talking about 500AP, that’s all. That is worth 2 gold at best, and that is only if you have a brand new account since it would get you the 100 prize and the 500 prize.
As for skins, that is only if you happened to land on a skin prize. And the titles are already there, but they are a lame excuse of a prize concidering what they got for 1-30 and how much more work the other 20 points were compared to the 30 before them.

With the new achievement UI, select an achievement, then hover over the tiers to see what is required for each tier. You can also hover over the AP value to see how many AP per tier.
As for removal of tiers, I’m against that as Tint Hjorje said.
Also, if you select the achievement to display in the bar it will tell you the total points needed to complete, not for the next teir.
I’m ok with this, especially concidering we could only get the reward one time, unlike the halloween backpack that could be individually achieved by each character.
I got GW1 1 year before GW2 came out. Played for around 4months (Sept ~ Dec 2011)
Got 30/30 on my account.
Helped g/f get 25/30 on her account.
Helped 2 more friends get 15~20/30 HoM.
I had fun.In 4 months. I didn’t even log that many hours…I work 9-5.
I’m 2300 hours into GW2 with 9.1k achieve, 9 lvl 80 chars including all professions each with 50%~100% map completion, R25 PvP, L50 FOTM, etc, yet I don’t have a precursor. I’m having fun.
Pretty sure I could 50/50 my gw1 account in a fraction of that amount of gameplay time if not less. You wanna show max dedication to guild wars? Buy gems to convert 600gold. You’ll have your precursor that way. Otherwise, just have fun.
It takes no time at all to 30/30, 50/50 is a whole other discussion entirely. It’s also the reason why 30/30 is the last level that gives a tangible prize.
I don’t mean 30/30 and 50/50 has little difference… But if you played GW1 for awhile (unlike me i played only 4 months off and on) you are gonna get it. Because the most time consuming achievements are money based. So basically if you’ve been playing GW1 for a few years you’re gonna get it.
I have a friend…he’s spent thousands of real life money on GW2, almost 2000 hours, I’d say he’s more commited to GW than most. Guess what he doesn’t have? HoM Skins, Titles, 500 potential achievement point that can make a difference in his standing of the leaderboards…Be satisfied already, you got things that people can’t buy and you’re asking for a 10g~500g bonus? So petty.
Now, compare the number of people who show up for the actual boss to the ones that start the chain. I know they are grossly different numbers but of course you are right PvE zones are packed to the brim.
Sometimes, it depends on the time of day and the day of the week. Sometimes there are so many people doing the first event I can’t see the centaurs for the culling and it’s a pain. But it’s always active.
-edit-
Oh I see, you’re arguing for your last part. Yeah, I support that, but I have no choice but to actively dismiss your suggestion because that’s the only part of your suggestion that’s any good.
I don’t understand the argument over this…
It’s not like it’s actually going to be taken into consideration…
Because people who can’t have a thing, no matter how insignificant the impact that thing has on their lives can’t stand the idea of someone else getting it. They are required by some faulty inner working to actively take action against it to the kittenation of everyone.
Every day? That’s how I do most of my Dailies and my Monthlies, I complete the Harathi Hinterlands chain. It’s always a packed house at the very least by the third event, but I’ve never had trouble with people for the first nor second events.
Seriously, move to Tarnished Coast. We’re good active people, and we apparently do pretty well in WvW too, despite being an RP server.
Just play the game as usual, and you might get some. I would recommend doing Events that include large waves, when you can kill a whole ton of mobs at once it tends to greatly increase you chance of getting something individual mobs drop.
This is like complaining why the random mob you killed playing as a mesmer, dropped you a rifle as reward for your time spent killing it. Yea you can’t use it, so you should complain and make anet change that mobs only drop items you can use.
not really…the complain i have is if a random mob i killed playing as a mesmer in Queensdale decided to start dropping PVP gear.
there is a reason you get PVP drops in PVP and PVE drops in PVE. because it make sense.
Actually that isn’t even the complaint. The complaint is that you happened to be wandering around doing anything at all and suddenly PvP gear appeared in your inventory.
You’re right, I don’t see the empty PvE zones. The only thing in this game I do is PvE and I have never failed to run into people anywhere I happen to be. I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe you’re just on a bad server.
I’m really not following how the premise of the story dictates its level of fantasy.
Southsun Cove
The premise: Contract dispute.
Location: A mysterious island covered with giant horrible monsters.
The conflict: One group wants the other group to work with them to clear out the giant horrible monsters so they can make it safe for visitors. The other group wants to leave but can’t.
This sounds sufficiently fantasy to me.
Baazar of the Four Winds
The premise: Trade agreement as leverage for an election
Location: A wonderous flying city on edge of a shear cliff filled with people who specialize in a rare and powerful form of magic.
The Conflict: The Zephyrites don’t trust outsides to make reasonable use of their magic and as such aren’t willing to make long time commitments to them for trade.
This also sounds sufficiently fantasy.
No, you get karma and experience and sometimes a chest. That is reward enough.
Likewise. Much as I loved GW1 I’ll never go back.
Even better, maybe down the line, would be to give us the ability to “dismiss” achievements from that list, for when you don’t want to progress an achievement right at that moment but want to see what else you could be doing.
I support this suggestion as well. In fact I think this is the better direction. Make this happen and no other conciderations need be made because the other ones can just be dismissed.
