I suspect this won’t get much support and falls in the L2P category, but it would be nice if each instance of block only used up one power providing block. I have a mace/shield Guardian. When I have Aegis up and I used my number 3 ability Protectors strike I have automatic block from Aegis and a block in the power. If something hits me in that situation it blows both the power and the Aegis.
What I’m asking for is if there are multiple effects in place to offer block to prioritize them. Let me power block the attack without blowing Aegis, then allow Aegis to pop if another attack occurs when I’m not already actively blocking. Generally speaking it isn’t an issue, but if I’m actively blocking and then Virtue of Courage recharges its passive Aegis it’s a waste.
I also know that this is probably a very limited situation, I just think it would be nice if we could avoid wasting effects.
I would love to see more dark content. On that note, though, I’ve never been terribly impaired by darkness. Any character with access to a placed AoE can use the that to see the contour of the ground in front of them even if they can’t see the ground itself, and any character with torch as a weapon can actually use that torch as a torch to see in darkness.
I still don’t get the point of the VIP zone, everything that’s there is already in the city itself with free WP jumps.
Why would you need to do it again?
not working if you already done em, anyone else has this?
You have to run the one in the city center. The other three don’t seem to work
You obviously didn’t even approach actually readin my post before responding, so well done there at offering nothing useful to the thread.
These things are completely worthless to me now. At least when they were account bound I could use them on the character I would actually attempt the gauntlet on. But by making them bound on acquire it means that the character sI have out doing balloons and events are getting them and they will never see the inside of the pavilian, making them worthless.
Why would you change them to bind on acquire instead of just turning off the letter. I’m absolutely shocked you actually sent that letter to each character in the first place instead of just sending it once to the account like has become the expected course.
So basically your thinking is, the only way to fix these things is to completely trash them and start over. Not to work with what we have, within the design of what we have and make them work. That is typically what is done when rebalancing and attempting to fix a class. It’s the main reason your whole design is infeasable, because when you’re done you have a similar but different class, not just an improved version of the original class.
Is it the same champions as earlier?
Wait, Champion rewards are limited to one time per day? That’s kind of crap, a Champion is a Champion, it should either have its reward or not.
I don’t agree with this – does it make sense to sit there and farm the troll for in Queensdale who spawns every 5 minutes for endless loot? Come on.
Yes, actually, but I think it should be content appropriate. In this case they’re basically giving a whole chest for each champion which is a bit ridiculous. Under those circumstance I can see why they did it this way, I just think it’s poorly implemented in general.
Is it the same champions as earlier?
Wait, Champion rewards are limited to one time per day? That’s kind of crap, a Champion is a Champion, it should either have its reward or not.
Ah the impatient. It’s the first day of a new event and of course someone is distraught for being unable to have already completed something within the first couple several hours.
How about this? Just keep playing, you’ll probably come upon it eventually. It isn’t going anywhere for a couple weeks at least.
Possibly a Sigil that boosts Torment duration. Maybe even one that inflicts Torment, since there are Sigils that inflict all the other damage conditions.
Where is fear duration sigil?
Since when is fear a damage condition?
since necromancer?
The fact that one class out of 8 gains additional benefits through fear does not make the condition itself a damage condition. Fear is a CC. That was the point.
This really seems like quibbling to me. Also what trait exactly are we talking about that is apparently a necessity for trap worth? I had initially intended to use the trait that lets you place it until I realized that would actually slow me down and make my trap use less effective rather than more.
Regardless what I’m reading here is, having one trap is a utility, but having more isn’t. This really doesn’t make sense to me. It either is a thing, or it isn’t.
I mean, I get that the whole point of this is to bring back a playstyle you liked from GW1, but that doesn’t make it a good idea. Also, when would a Ranger use a Staff in GW1? I was under the impression that all Ranger powers required a longbow.
(edited by Kal Spiro.9745)
Wait there was an option? I thought it was just off. I would have preferred it to be on so I could see how much I was getting. I like the change.
Actually it’s not an aversion to melee, it’s the loss of mobility that being pure melee entails. With Axe now I can be right next to them to 900 units away at never stop hitting them. I’m actually less effective at max range, but I have the ability to get back without interrupting my attacks. I’m constantly moving in and out of melee, constant motion. With Shortbow/Staff I would never be in melee. Constantly running around kiting. I already have a character that plays like that. I don’t need another.
I suppose the reason I keep coming back is the feeling that if you completely destroy the entirety of a build in order to make changes to a class you have failed at class restructuring. The idea should be to enhance the class and bring what already exists in line with other classes, not to tear it apart and put something else back in its place.
You’ll never please everyone, but when you go in with the expectation of making large scale changes to many peoples play styles you’re certainly not making friends. Don’t take from one person to give to another.
I want to restate, I love what you did with Sword. I would totally change my Longbow-Greatsword to Sword/Dagger with those changes. But that doesn’t mean such drastic changes are a good idea, just because I would like them doesn’t mean the people who are currently using the weapon would want them. It follows in the same line.
Dunno, I have a quiver.
If i ask for no group events coz I cant beat them solo I get accused I want a single player not a MMO
If I say i want to do the story mission with people, I get replied they are meant for solocan you people make up your minds?
As far as i am concerned, this is a single player MMO and the more you go further in the map, the more frustrating experience you get
First off, Group Events are large events out in the open world with powerful bosses requiring more than one person to take down.
Personal Story Missions are small individual instances designed to tell the story of your specific character.
Group Events are designed for groups, Personal Story Missions are designed for solo play. It looks like your problem is that you’re just trying to do everything backwards.
Also, why are you passively sitting around waiting for random people to show up to Group Events but actively asking in map chat for your story? Ask in map chat for the group missions, include a nearby waypoint and people will just show up, no waiting required.
I can very much appreciate not wanting your build destroyed by removing traps from utility but I can’t help but see that as more than a little selfish. You’re saying, “I don’t want traps moved because it’s destroys how I picture myself and my build.” when traps as a whole the way they are cause major problems. Sure, taking one trap and making a build around it doesn’t cause you too much of an issue but what if I need to bring more traps than that? I give up all real utility (and many traits) for effects that should very simply be offensive weapon skills. We as a class really suffer in large scale groups not only because our pets but because we don’t have any reliable form of AoE. The staff fits that roll perfectly. You can write it off as “Necro staff copy” or a “Engineer bomber spin-off” but that doesn’t really detract from the benefits it would bring the class. A front line AoE bomber switching between a staff for AoE condi nukes and a new Sword/X would be a very faced past character and actually benefit from having real utility skills.
I see it equally as selfish, though, to say I don’t like how the skill is designed so whether you like it or not it should be changed. It’s the other side of the same coin there. What about Thief traps? Or Necro wells? Or the Engineer mine? They amount to the same thing. Each is a utility and that’s how they work. If you want to be full on traps then that is the choice you make, to have 3 more attacks along with your weapons, that is your improved utility. You are intending to remove between 2 and 4 attacks just to be able to have other utility on top of it. I would rather have two weapon sets AND traps rather than traps taking up one of my sets with other utilities too.
You say Axe is like Shortbow, but is that Axe/Axe, Axe/Dagger, Axe/Torch or Axe/Warhorn.
I like the versatility I get from Axe in that I run Torch and Dagger. I can’t run Shortbow and Shortbow and have different powers. And Shortbow isn’t giving me either dagger, nor torch, so once again you’re shredding my chosen build because you didn’t like it the way it was.

I don’t understand why pistol and rifle skins always have to be so bulky and weird looking.
I think the staff is dead sexy though.
What bugs me about the available skins is that each vendor has their races cultural 3 skins, except the humans. Lions Arch and Ebon Hawk aren’t providing Seraph weapons.

Am I the only person who voted for Ellen Kiel because I thought she’d make a better council member than Evon Gnashblade?
I hope so because that’s by far the worse reason to have done so. Ellen Kiel is a puppet council person with no experience, understanding, nor grit. Her place is in the field as a Lionguard, not in Council chambers arguing with real Pirates. Evon Gnashblade, on the other hand is a true pirate and businessman. He is everything the council represents and the person most deserving of the position.
It comes down to people not actually understanding what was at stake here. The Fractal is a Fractal. Name an epic Fractal. I would say Colossus, why? Cause a giant man walks away and bows. Ten seconds of content. The rest of them are just “who cares” moments, including the Leviathan. What can they possibly do with Abaddon or the Reactor for it to make any difference?
Savings on Lion Keys or Waypoints? Seriously? Who care. First off it’s only for a month, that’s one Living Story arch. The savings on Waypoints would have to be close to 90% for anyone to even notice the savings. We’re talking 5 silver for the longest trip you can take. I throw away more than that on random crap.
The actual issue was the direction that Living Story would take for the next two plus years. You people chose more of the same rather than to change it up and trying potentially interesting things. Kiel is a putz and she will continue to be a putz. Gnashblade could have been interesting, but now he’s nobody. Thanks a lot community.
I run Superior Vampire
Based on past history, this statement seems to be like saying water is wet.
Define Viable.
I’m doing everything wrong as defined by those here who apparently consider themselves the authorities on how to play, but I do just fine. I’ve never impaired my group and am often more capable than those who appear to follow the common view. I will accept that I don’t necessarily do as much damage, so maybe the fight takes longer, but seriously, so kittening what? I don’t speed run. I find the very idea to be bull. I want to run the content because I enjoy the content, not to get the reward at the end and move on. What matters is that we succeed, consistently and on the first try.
I don’t, however, PvP nor WvW. I’m not good at it, so even in the “best” build I’m likely to be unviable because I just don’t do it well.
So please, define viable. It just makes life a lot easier to know what page someone is on.
If they replaced you with any other class would they miss anything besides your wit and humor? Would they have done better without you assuming similar gear and skill level?
So your definition of viable:
Adjective
Capable of working successfully; feasible
is Optimal:
Adjective
Best or most favorableWhich is the problem I have had with MMO players since Everquest.
If I changed out any of the people in the group with a Ranger, or any other class, of equal skill, I do not feel the outcome would have changed. The outcome being success without a wipe. So, in that regard, no I don’t think it would have made a difference if I were replaced either.
If the only outcome that matters to you is the fact that you beat something without a wipe then you really aren’t looking at the topic objectively.
Oh, I didn’t realize there was a defined value for viable. Since no one has come forward with a different definition of the word I’ll stick with the one provided. Capable of working successfully. I play a ranger and my ranger is capable of working successfully. The only realistic definition of success is to complete the objective without failure. Therefore beating something without a wipe would be a positive definition of success. Honestly, this seems pretty objective. This is logical reasoning with solid data to support it. Isn’t that objectivity? Not clouding your view point with emotions and opinion?
Any definition about the strength or superiority of the Ranger over or under any other class is not a definition of its viability, but of its optimization. A Ranger may not be the optimal class in all situations, but it’s viable.
If you can’t log in every day, then don’t. I don’t understand why people think that someone who isn’t able to play the game consistently should get a break just because they can’t play. Support the people who are and can play, not the people who can’t. That’s asinine.
I put a lot, and I mean a lot, of time into GW2 that still doesn’t mean I am able to log on every day. That doesn’t make my opinion any more or less worthy than yours. I think if you ask around there will be a lot of people who can’t be on every day because of work or personal reasons
Simple fact. There is no reason that you actually NEED to complete dailies. It’s simple as that. If you can’t finish it, then don’t. You didn’t lose anything as a result.
Easy for someone to say when your not high on the leaderboard when you are in the top 300 like me and aiming higher you can’t miss a single point of the every daily.
Wow, so you’re not in this for the masses, you just can’t handle losing your oh so important status, which means nothing.
I think you need to get your priorities straight and the reasoning for those priorities before trying to make game changing suggestions to support yourself personally.
It would be nice to have more time with content. I don’t see a need to slow down the content, though, only because most of the content doesn’t stick around to begin with.
One day, after the thousandth thread on this same subject, maybe, just maybe they will give us this thing.
Until then, +1
If you want people in high level zones why aren’t you demanding the Orr slayer, Orr Veteran slayer and Orr Event Completer dailies to be a thing?
Personally, if I can’t complete the majority of my dailies simply by doing the Ulgoth chain in Harathi Hinterlands I simply don’t bother doing the dailies. Failing to get one laurel isn’t going to ruin my day.
Because it will have everyone in Orr. I want players spread around the whole map.
Your argument is invalid and contradictory to the point of this thread.
You want to be able to complete all dailies in a single zone. Meaning you want for everyone to go to Caledon Forest or Metrica Province on any day that includes Maguuma because everything should be possible to be done there. This does not promote spreading people out, it promotes condensing them. As it currently is, it is possible to have to go to no less than three different areas of the game in order to complete dailies. This spreads people out. Your suggestion doesn’t.
You claim you want people to go to higher level zones. Allowing people to complete all dailies in a single zone, which is your suggestion, does not promote players going to higher level zones. Allowing people to complete dailies in Orr would, but would also exclude new players who can’t necessarily reach Orr safely. This would also be the case with any Daily that promoted higher level zones, which is why such a thing will never be the case.
As such, since there will not be dailies that promote higher level zones, the only way to spread people out is to allow dailies that can only be completed in different zones to occur simultaneously.
You have no room for argument. You are either in favor of your suggestion which places the lie on your claim of wanting to spread out, or you are in favor of spreading out which invalidates the entirety of the premise behind this thread. In either case, and by your immediate vulgarity toward the first person to contradict you, I suspect this thread is a Troll. Good day.
I dont see a problem with Dailies…. In fact I like them. If u don’t like it – don’t do it and go for monthly instead.
I don’t have a problem with Dailies I have a problem with doing every aspect of them plus the sPVP Daily so i don’t fall behind on achievement points on the leaderboard. Plus not everyone has the option to log on every day, why should they be denied the chance to get high on the leaderboard?
If you can’t get the daily done in a maximum of an hour you’re doing something wrong. If you can’t get every single daily with the same amount of ease, then don’t.
Yes it is true that most aspects of the daily can be done fast, but as I told Frostfang not everyone has the option to log on every day.
The 3 WvW daily achievements takes at least 30 mins if your lucky. That is hoping your not on at a bad time waiting in queue for any borderland. Took me 20 mins last Friday just to get into WvW.
Then there is Dungeon Story, a quick AC story run takes 20 mins at least, thats hoping there no newbies or cutscene watchers.
sPVP daily is about 10 mins per game, meaning 3 games take about 30 mins on average.
Then there is also the Fractals Daily achievement, yes, if you get a party who just want to do their daily fractal run and you keep on entering to get swamp first this part can be quick, but finding that party takes time itself and if not you either have to do an entire Fractal run or you must leave when you are done with the first one leaving a mad team behind.
If you can’t log in every day, then don’t. I don’t understand why people think that someone who isn’t able to play the game consistently should get a break just because they can’t play. Support the people who are and can play, not the people who can’t. That’s asinine.
Simple fact. There is no reason that you actually NEED to complete dailies. It’s simple as that. If you can’t finish it, then don’t. You didn’t lose anything as a result.
I am not voting Evon due to he uses cheap tactic to win the vote (bribery). In addition of that Evon does not think for the good of LA people, but for himself (you can see it in cutscene and candidate trials). While Kiel, she thinks for the good of LA people.
Bring this to real world condition: supporting Evon = supporting a corrupt politician for your president; supporting Kiel = supporting a good politician for your president. Which one will I choose ? Of course Kiel.
So your not voting for a pirate and business man for a position on a PIRATE council based on a TRADE agreement, because he’s bribing you? What is he bribing you with? More importantly how is Kiel not bribing you in the exact same way?
You feel that a Pirate and head of the largest company in Tyria will not support the people of a PIRATE city while a member of a PIRATE council? Why? Because he didn’t give the loot another pirate group stole back to the people they stole it from? He’s a PIRATE! Kiel is supposed to be a pirate, but she doesn’t have what it takes, plain and simple. She is far to pure and by the books to actually accomplish anything in the cut throat position she’s trying to get in. She does want to protect the people, but do you know where she can do that best? In the Lionguard where she already resides, not in negotiations with real pirates.
In Real World conditions all Politicians are corrupt. Supporting Evon is supporting an honest politician who doesn’t hide what he is, but who has the background and support base to do the job the way it should be done. Supporting Kiel is supporting someone who has no basis for being in the job and who will just be a puppet for the leader of LA, just like she already and always has been.
Which one would any reasonable voter vote for, and who I will be voting for? Evon Gnashblade, the only candidate who matters.
Well I’ll start by saying these changes would completely destroy my axe/torch, axe/dagger ranger designed around fire trap. That said I see where you’re coming with most of these.
Question, was your change to Rapid Shot designed before or after Rapid Shot gained vulnerability? I don’t have a problem with a master archer throwing out a spray of arrows like that with a longbow. But I have to question, why is Rapid Shot a problem but Barrage is apparently fine?
The idea of Staff is interesting, but If I want to play Staff Necro, I’ll just play my Necro. I am ok with the transition of spirits from skills to a flip side of pets, and definately with the reintroduction of preparations. I always used Ignite Arrow. I like how traps work now though, and I wouldn’t want to give them up. And while this whole thing is unrealistic, because it is literally redesigning the class from the ground up, implementing any new weapons, I feel, shouldn’t be an aspect of class suggestions cause they’re just not going to happen readily.
Lastly, I hate Sword as it is now, and I might even enjoy playing it as you’ve presented, but I don’t think it would be widely appreciated by most because it would change its functionality entirely.
It was thought of long before but Vuln. update but even if each arrow did 3 stacks that’s more than the average Vuln. you get from rapid fire anyways. I have to say I completely disagree with your feeling on traps. Not only do they take traits to be effective but they then take up utility slots that should be used for actual utility. Rapid Fire is a targeted, “pew-pew” attack at a specific person and meant to be used when engaged with someone in a skirmish. Barrage is more of a sit back and AoE people skill and situations in which the skill would shine are generally situations I find that I don’t have trouble getting it off. I do agree that this entire list is literally never going to happen anyways which is why I didn’t finish it at the time and why I put minimal effort into touching it up and posting it. I just kinda gave up on it because all that hope I used to have is gone but I disagree that if there isn’t an easy, quick answer it shouldn’t be suggested. Take the Sword for example, in development they looked for the easy answer when it needed a change and now, one year after launch, it’s still completely crap.
If you’re not getting full vulnerability from Rapid Fire I would question what you’re firing it at. If we’re talking PvP, fine, I don’t do that. For anything else, PvE and WvW, assuming you have Piercing Arrows, because really anyone who uses Longbow should, my target gets 10 stacks, and anyone behind them and around them gets variable amounts along with them. I like the long stream of 1 vuln per shot than the original hunter’s arrow, as well as your three shot because I’m assuming your charged up three shot is going to happen in the space of time that one dodge will completely negate it. It’s hard to negate all of a rapid shot.
I would like to see your three shot, but I would like to see it in place of Hunter’s Shot. I would put Hunter’s Shot’s new stealth mechanic on Point Blank Shot. I feel that would really bring the whole weapon together better than it currently is and would give us back the ability to do one big hit with all our vulnerability in place, which we lost with the move from Hunter to Rapid.
My point about the weapon was mainly that I feel new weapon discussion should be a separate thing from class restructuring. So when a whole aspect of the class restructuring is wholly dependent on that new weapon it doesn’t work.
Traps are a utility. I run with three weapons, the first thing I do, though, is roll in and drop a flame trap at their feet. Then I start fighting. It’s not taking the place of something more useful to me because I designed the character around that specific skill. As such, if I didn’t have it, and I had to carry a different weapon just to have access to it, it would completely change the flow of the character, its design and its feel. Right now it’s a very mobile and fast paced character, moving in and out of melee, stacking bleed, poison and burning. While a person based necro staff could still be like that, I don’t think it would be as exciting and fast paced, nor as interesting, despite having access to three more traps than I currently am with my build.
I’m against easy answers if hard answers actually provide a better solution. I just don’t feel that all hard answers produce better solutions.

I’m definitely in favor of aegis on dodge. I run that trait anyway, so the added bonus would be icing. Plus, in one trait fix most of the complaints of pets being unable to deal with bosses should be cleared up. Also by making it ten seconds you don’t have to be as concerned about “wasting” your dodge for your pet, as I’ve seen some people argue. It won’t help with placed AoEs, but that’s another thing anyway.
Most of the rest I don’t really care about. I’m not a huge fan of most of the Major Master traits, but they become completely worthless thanks to the family restrictions. I agree that removing that restriction would make them much more appealing. I want the traits to compliment how I play, I don’t want to have to compliment how my traits force me to play.
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of these. If you can’t get the daily done in a maximum of an hour you’re doing something wrong. If you can’t get every single daily with the same amount of ease, then don’t.
I have a character sitting at the beginning of the Ulgoth chain in Harathi Hinterlands. This chain completes, with ease, kill mobs, kill veterans, kill champions, kill kryta mobs, kill kryta veterans, do kryta events, 80% of do events and mentor events, do group events, gather, spend karma. Craft and talk to laurel vendor can easily be completed too. It only takes a short trip past the main area to get kill variety, and usually the remaining event for events and mentor events. That only leaves, ambient killer, underwater killer, Maguuma, Shiverpeaks and Ascalon events, kills and veterans, along with WvW and occasional PvP minigames. That’s not that bad at all. The chain only takes 45 minutes, and it happens pretty often. I don’t see any reason, what so ever, to change it.
Oh and one more thing guys: THE SWORD ISNT BROKEN. Sheesh. Understand that? L2P
You clearly spend too much time in PvP to actually understand what the issue here is. The sword IS broken. There is a specific aspect of the sword that doesn’t work the way it is supposed to as compared to every other weapon. I’m not asking to change the mechanic. Something you don’t seem to get. I would love for it to be changed, because I also don’t like the mechanic itself, but I wouldn’t ask for it to be changed for my benefit concidering the number of people who like it.
All I’m standing for is the actual broken aspect of the weapon which is that you can’t dodge immediately after each of the three parts of the chain. I don’t care if you can’t dodge in the middle of a leap. I do care if you can’t dodge after your feet touch the ground again. That is a broken mechanic that needs to be fixed. So yes, it is broken, so maybe you can get off your high horse and move on, or at least give it a rest.
I was leafing through the various achievements, as I occationally do and I came on something I find rather annoying. According to the Miniature Collection achievement in the Community tab I only have one mini. But I know for a fact that I have no less than seven unique minis in my posession. The 1 mini, I assume, is the Skritt mini I bought on the trading post. But I also have Plush Griffon, Golem toy, Risen, Kiel and Gnashblade, and the Lion Cub. While it would annoy me if the five minis that were obtained through living story were not counted, the Lion Cub was a straight purchase. Why are none of these new minis counting toward the achievement? I think they should be.
The Polar Bear has never been fully white. Having played since beta I can confirm this.
If you guys don’t like sword, ask for a new mainhand like dagger. Stop asking for rifles. Stop asking to change existing weapon mechanics. Thank you.
This is so beyond the point it’s actually funny. We don’t want daggers, no one is asking for rifles here. We don’t want a new mainhand we want to use Swords. Hell, no one is even asking for a mechanical change to swords. We’re asking for sword to actually function properly.
I have no idea why in 11 month this haven’t been fixed??? I’ve been hit by churning earth almost a dozen of times cuz of target rooting on a freaking auto attack, so stupid. Did i said i had no idea why its not fixed? Oh i lied. i know why it isn’t fixed. Its not on their priority list like every other bug in the game…
Fixed? It is working as intended. It is a high risk/high return weapon. You deal extreme amounts of dps with it.
That isn’t the answer. A broken mechanic isn’t high risk, it’s a broken mechanic. Things that are broken get fixed, or replaced.
Why do people keep complaining about this! the second and third attacks in the sword chain are leaps and that’s why you can’t dodge during the chain. if you don’t want the moves to chain TURN OFF AUTO ATTACK. simple, easy. that way you can pause yourself between moves in the chain. if you can’t handle that and want to play melee use a GS.
How can you actually defend this? How can anyone actually actively defend a system that is broken and requires a workaround simply to be functional at a normal level? It IS your auto attack. It is designed to be used indefinitely and without having to time key strokes. If it were a case where turning off auto attack and timing it yourself improved the function beyond normal, that would be a different matter. Then yes, it is a matter of skill. That is not the situation, this is using skill to make it nominal, not improved. It needs to be worked on because it is broken.
You can make it a rant if you want. This has been complained about nonstop for as long as I’ve been playing this game. It’s a shame because the animation looks good, but it’s just not functional at all. There is absolutely no reason it has to jump around like this.
You must not spvp. The sword function is to cripple and stick on a running enemy. This complaint is exactly why ranger needs another mainhand like dagger. It’s also why a new mainhand should come before another ranged weapon (ew rifles).
I really get sad by this community. This week I’ve read that you guys want to take away my sword and get a rifle. I’d quit the game if that happened, to be completely honest.
Dagger/Dagger has it’s place, and it’s there with the Thief. Sword/Dagger is a proper Ranger set, but the current design of Sword is nonsensical. If you like it, fine, but I guarantee it was an acquired taste that you had to develop workaround and tricks to deal with. That is an absurd notion for a basic attack chain of a weapon. You should not have to go out of your way to make autoattack a viable tool, it should just work.
Name one other auto attack for any weapon of any class in the entire game where it does just work. There isn’t one, only Ranger Longsword. This is a problem. So if we have to lose you, in order to have a fully functional weapon that everyone can get into without needing to implement tricks for it to be viable, then I’m happy to see you go.
But that’s the point. You aren’t using skill to make the weapon better, you’re using skill to make the weapon usable. You’re using workarounds and tricks to bring it to the level of any other weapon that just works by default. Why do you insist on defending that?
As for Rifle, I’d like to see rifle, but I honestly can’t think of anything they could do with rifle that isn’t just Longbow with a gun.
Not really worried about Greatsword. I think the change to Maul was a mistake, but short of putting it back I can’t really see a change that would make people happy. I don’t really feel like I’m doing anything with 3 stacks of vuln, but I don’t see 5 stacks making me happier. People definitely wouldn’t be happy with weakness because the majority belief is that you shouldn’t be getting hit in the first place, so if you’re putting stacks that effect target’s damage you’re doing it wrong.
I would love to see major changes to sword. I use greatsword because i can’t stand how sword is designed. I really want to run sword/dagger, but I’m willing to work with sword as is. At the same time that’s just me, I can’t expect anyone else to change their play because I don’t like it.
I’ve never had trouble with pets hitting things, so that I don’t care about, but the rest I would like. I want a variable thing though. I want Pets to specialize in something with their stats. Bears have crap damage and tank really well. If my bear was based on me, though, he’d end up with less vitality and more power. So I want their stats to take variable portions. So a tanking pet like bear will get X% of power in toughness to supplement the toughness it’s already getting. That kind of thing.
Marksman needs a lot of work, specifically in the minor trait line, because it’s crap. That is the only trait line in the entire game that can only take effect once in a fight without the addition of a major trait. That is not a uniqueness to be proud of. I also approve of moving trap traits to wilderness survival where they belong. Wilderness Survival is where you would learn about traps, not skirmishing, and it’s also the condition damage line which fits better too.
After that you pretty much lost me.
but in WvW a pet essentially becomes a handle for people to grab onto as they play ‘kill that slow ranger’.
Main reason I always stow my pet in WvW: the assailant has no clue as to what class you are until he hits you and the pet appears and start hitting him.. If you indeed keep the pet out, it will get you in combat way too easy (in WvW specifically).
That just means your assailants are stupid. Pet’s make it easier to identify, but there is still our weapons. So unless you are running around in shortbow or sword/dagger you shouldn’t look like any other class but ranger.
There are too many JP that force you into fights in order to have your powers disabled. Other than that I’m fine with it.
As was stated in another post, in a month or two this will just be how it is. No one will care about bank gold vs wallet gold vs the old system. We’ll get used to it and move on just like every major game changing decision they’ve made thus far.
Whens the last time you heard someone complaining about variable dailies? For instance.
I’ve seen another suggestion beyond using a personal Guild for gold storage….using the TP to hold your money with ridiculous buy orders that will never get filled. Obviously, this storage will cost you money in the buy order fee, but so will setting up a new Guild with a bank for your personal storage (but the Guild option will also come with some additional item storage that you can increase if you want).
Actually, putting up a buy order costs you absolutely nothing. There are only fees for listing an item, not for offering to buy one. You can put up 25 offers to buy Eternity for 1 gold each to store 25 gold and when you want the money back, you simply remove the offer. You’ll be given back all 25 gold, and you can check this yourself with smaller sums of money. Hey, worst case, someone actually sells you an eternity for 1 gold.
As you can see…I don’t buy much on the TP other than small quantities of crafting mats. What if you take down the buy order before it’s filled (which you will do in this case when you want your gold to REALLY buy something) …doesn’t it charge you the listing fee when it returns the gold? If not, then this may be the answer to our “savings account” woes.
One click on buy/sell it locks the button and waits for a communication from the server. if the transaction goes through it comes back green otherwise it comes back red. Either way the player can keep themselves from double clicking.
Don’t blame the new horse just because he’s pulling a wagon with a broken wheel.
My suggestion to fix this is a WARNING dialog like the merchants have. If you are spending more than 1g, a dialog pops up for you to confirm your purchase. I’m sure avid traders would also appreciate some sort of “opt-out” checkbox in the settings to either turn this feature completely off, or only display it the first time in a TP session.
I think the problem you are trying to solve with the click and wait is a double purchase and that is NOT the problem here…..I’m concerned about an accidental FIRST purchase (but stopping lag induced double purchases is not a bad thing, either).
All profits are taken from the seller, the buyer only pays what he pays. Putting down money or taking it back costs nothing to the buyer.
