Aesthetically, Dry Top looks fantastic. I’m getting Elona flashbacks looking at it. I’m hoping that the Hylek shown are Heket , though I’m not sure how they would have gotten to Maguuma from Elona.

I’m just really relieved to get a new, aesthetically distinct zone, and an arid one at that. I miss Elona.

A token system would be wonderful. We already have one for dungeons and fractals; I’d love to see it for Teq and Wurm.

Take the Teq weapons and Wurm armor out of the drop table completely. Let us earn tokens for beating the boss. Add a vendor that appears after the boss is beaten.

Add Teq armor and Wurm weapons while you’re at it, and I’ll love you forever

It seems to be the norm now for Game Devs NOT to use their official sites, examples being DICE NEVER posted on the EA Forums, they used Twitter for BF3.

Bioware the same, Blizzard constantly post on Twitter / facebook and hardly on their own places …

Social Engineering has gone out of control when they create sites for their games and never use them themselves !

(also many of the above don’t simply because they do not want to answer to players, rather pretend the criticism does not exist, using Blizz and EA as an example )

  • And ANet looking at the Trait thread in General ****

It’s a marketing and exposure thing. Sharing and publicity are fundamental parts of social media sites. A picture posted on the main site gets seen by those people who use the main site. The same picture posted on FB get seen by those who follow the game there, and then liked, shared, and spread around where others can see it. The exposure from using Facebook/Twitter/Tumbler/YouTube is exponentially higher than from using the main site alone.

Not defending them or anything. I agree with the general sentiment of this thread. But I also understand why companies are taking this approach.

Spears on Land in the Concept Art?

Pole weapon in concept art isn’t new, even the norn in the Timberline Falls load screen looks like to be holding a spear/lance

Specifically, a voulge

The important thing in the concept art is the landscape. I wouldn’t expect new weapons any time soon; pretty sure Anet has stated that they’d prefer to expand existing weapons to all classes before they add any new ones.

The best way to alleviate this problem is to let us choose our map copy from a drop-down list (aka, district system) and to put a queue on the maps like the WvW maps have.

It would not eliminate the need to get there early to get a good map copy (unless you’re TTS and have 150 people ready to go.) But it would make it much easier to find the copy you want, and it would make waiting to get into a full map 1000x better.

But everyone did hear about. Just because the NPC’s/main characters don’t talk about it all the time doesn’t mean no one heard about it.
Let’s use your example. The only time I hear about the World Trade Centers is on the anniversary. Otherwise it’s something Americans seems to not want to hear, as silly as anyone might think it is.
Same thing could be said about LA.

To be fair, that’s because it’s been 13 years since 9/11. Immediately after it happened, it was all we could talk about.

First of all, the Sanctum does get destroyed, did you watch the trailer? Second, it is one of the most beautiful zones in the game. Third, why does it have to get destroyed? If we’re going to Maguuma, why did they go way out of their way to the Sanctum to destroy it…. Someone at ANet has a love of explosions almost as much as Michael Bay does.

You seem to be confused. What gets destroyed in the trailer is indeed the Zephyr Sanctum. However, the Sanctum is not the zone that you’re referring to. That’s the Labyrinthine Cliffs, which we were already going to lose access to at the end of the month.

In the trailer, the Sanctum was flying through the sky, no longer docked at the Cliffs. Presumably flying west, and then crashing in Maguuma. There is no indication that the Cliffs themselves (which I agree is one of the most beautiful zones) are going to get destroyed. But we are losing access to the Cliffs regardless, which a lot of us have already protested.

Quoting myself on this one:

The problem with putting the game on a console is licensing and distribution. ANet has expressed disinterest in physical, boxed releases of the game. They much prefer digital copies and only want to have one box of the game out. Each release on a console means new contracts, new boxes, more shipping, more middlemen, etc etc.

It also means remapping the controls to a new controller and getting the game working on the PS4/X-Bone architecture. That means whole new sets of bugs for each console. It also means finding a way to get all three online networks playing together, which is its own legal and technical nightmare.

In the end, it’s just easier and more practical to keep it PC-only

Season 2 Concerns

Season 1 of the LS was stated early on that is was happening at the same time as your PS.

Nope. Living Story events occur after the Personal Story.

1325 AE – Events of the personal story take place: Claw Island is assaulted by Blightghast the Plaguebringer. The Pact is founded, and Zhaitan is defeated.
The karka attack Lion’s Arch, and Southsun Cove is discovered.

1326 AE – The Living World begins. Events from now on take place in approximately real time, as opposed to the floating timeline that has been used exclusively until now (excepting some parts of Guild Wars Beyond).

Formation of the Molten Alliance, who assault settlements in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau. Aetherblades disrupt the Dragon Bash festival. Ellen Kiel is elected to the Captain’s Council. Formation of the Toxic Alliance, building (and destruction) of the Tower of Nightmares.

Raising the cap on the # of players per squad is a start but it wouldn’t fix the fact that squads appear to be a foreign concept to a majority of players, particularly in PvE. They are not introduced or explained to players at all; even purchasing a comm tag gives you zero instruction on how the things work.

And like I said before: herding cats. The people I can get into my squad are the ones that I can get into TS. I don’t need them in the squad; I need the ones who aren’t in TS. The ones I have to use map/say chat to (fail to) talk to.

As well, it doesn’t really fix the core issue. As others noted, message suppression happens across the game, to commanders and non-commanders alike. Even if it were a commander-only problem, often these events require multiple commanders, and joining the squad of one prevents you from hearing squad chat (or seeing the tags) of any others. So those other commanders have to use map/say to reach you…and we’re back to the original issue.

I >think<, but have not confirmed, that varying your messages decreases the rate of suppression. It will still happen, but you might be able to get two or three more messages before the anti-spam eats your legitimate posts. It certainly seems to work that way — but there might be other hidden factors distorting what I’m seeing.

Pretty sure you’re correct. The suppression of my messages during Teq fight appear to have less to do with their length and more to do with the fact that I’m saying the same couple of things over and over.

As far as squads…I’ve already been through that nonsense with Marionette. I’m a PvE commander. Most people don’t even know what a squad is, much less have any desire or incentive to join one. My dedicated guildies will join, sure. But getting the randoms in is like herding cats. They’d rather not hear me than take two seconds to right click my icon.

And yes, squads are limited to 50. I have more people than that in the main zerg alone, never mind including all of the defense teams.

As far as emotes, well, let’s just say that there’s a reason I disabled that chat a long, long time ago.

Kalarchis.8635

Let’s talk about chat suppression.

I’m a Tequatl organizer. I lead the main zerg. Because it’s impossible to get everyone in the map into TS, I say a lot of stuff in map or say chat. Things like “Fingers up!” or “Cleansing on me.” I have to keep these short and quick and I often have to say them repeatedly throughout the fight (particularly those two.) And, very quickly, I’m suppressed. Lately it’s happened every single time.

This prevents me from doing my job as a commander. Before the fight I tell the map “I will say X when Y needs to happen,” and then come the fight itself I can’t say anything. It’s incredibly frustrating.

This system is not working. It punishes players for trying to coordinate. I can’t get all players in TS. I can’t use squad chat because I’m leading more than 50 people and players don’t know what squads are in the first place. Map and say chat are my only options, and I’m punished for trying to use them.

So please use this thread to provide suggestions as to how to fix it. Personally I think it could be tied to the commander rating/vetting system that’s been proposed for a while. The more +1s a commander gets, the higher their suppression threshold. What do ya’ll think?

Edited for conciseness.

You’re still low level so you shouldn’t be worrying too much about money. But your best ways of earning gold are as follows:

1) Dungeons. Right now only AC is open to you but you should run at least one path a day. This will earn you a guaranteed 1g+ a day in addition to tokens and other loot.

2) Gather everything. Everything you see. Things like soft wood and iron in particular are very valuable. If you plan on crafting, save what you gather; you’ll be glad you did later. Otherwise, sell on the TP for good money.

3) World bosses. You won’t get the bonus rare chest until you’re level 80, but right now you can still earn lots of loot, karma, and xp doing the bosses and their pre-events.

4) Map completion. Each map will give you bonus gold, xp, materials and loot on top of everything you get from doing all the hearts and other points around the zone. Rewards will increase with higher level zones.

Doing all of these is a sure-fire, steady way to earn gold, materials, karma, and to level up.

Mordremoth's Corruption already present?

in Living World

Posted by: Kalarchis.8635

Kalarchis.8635

I think tying the great wurms (and the Sylvari in some way) to Mordy is a pretty safe bet. But I’d be hesitant to call them champions. According to the wiki:

“The difference between a champion and other minions of a dragon is that champions are imbued with much greater amount of the Elder Dragons’ will, possessing an intellect of their own, to realize the will of the dragons and act according to them.”

I’d argue that neither the Caledon Wurm nor the 3-Headed Wurm fit this description. The husks certainly suggest that they’re tied to Mordy, but they don’t seem to have any intellect or his will. The only creature that I would definitively say was Mordy’s champ was Scarlet.

As well, I doubt the Caledon Wurm will get the Teq treatment, because it already did…they just made it a new boss and put it in Bloodtide Plus it’s a starter zone boss, so I don’t see it getting much harder than it already is.

To answer you final question: yes, I definitely think we’ll be seeing more wurms and husks in S2.

I don't remember this from the patch notes...

Terrible Trailers

Kalarchis.8635

A better way to structure the recap trailer would be as follows:

- Start with something like “Peace had finally come to Tyria. The Elder Dragon Zhaitan had fallen, and his undead armies were driven back. We knew that the other dragons were out there, but for the moment we had victory and calm.” This covers the events of the Personal Story and establishes the future threat of other dragons.

- Continue with “But it would not last. When the first signs of trouble arose, we did not take them seriously. We did not know what they foretold.” Couple this with shots of Flame and Frost.

- Next “But soon enough our festival of victory over Zhaitan was attacked by a new enemy. Months later, another celebration befell the same fate. Guardians made in our defense were stolen and turned against us, and our enemy made herself known to us.” Show Dragon Bash, Sky Pirates, Queen’s Jubilee, and Clockwork Chaos.

- “We knew her name – Scarlet Briar – but not her goal. A tower of deadly toxins was discovered hidden in the heart of Tyria, and only the efforts of strongest heroes stopped it from spreading poison across the land.” Show Tower of Nightmares and Nightmares Within.

Do I need to continue? I think you get the idea.

Terrible Trailers

in Living World

Posted by: Kalarchis.8635

Kalarchis.8635

Completely agree, particularly with your second paragraph. Just read the new trailer:

“Lion’s Arch burned. Scarlet’s journey was nearly complete. She planted the seeds long ago. And as her evil took root, it grew into something horrifying. The heroes of Tyria fought back. But our darkest hour was yet to come. Scarlet’s armies attacked Lion’s Arch without warning or mercy. Her victory seemed assured. As Tyria’s last hope, we rallied, and put an end to Scarlet’s onslaught of terror. But even in death, she remained a threat. And deep beneath Tyria, something sinister awoke.”

First of all, pretend I’m a new player. My immediate questions are: “What is Lion’s Arch? Who is Scarlet, and what was her journey? What seeds? Wait, it was an evil journey? I see a plant tower and a plant monster and…a giant robot? Being defeated in the mountains somewhere?”

There’s no context for any of that. We have no indication of what Lion’s Arch is or what it represents for Tyria. We have no understanding of who Scarlet is or the arc of her rise to power. We don’t know what anything presented means to anyone.

Second of all, look at the ordering of events. We start with Lion’s Arch burning. Then we go backwards to the Tower of Nightmares, next to Marionette, and then to the darkest hour (LA attack) yet to come. But you started with LA attack! It’s jarring even for me; I can only imagine how confusing it must be to a new player.

The LA escape preview is another one that did it better. Bit of nostalgic music, quick summary of what LA has been through and what it represents for Tyria, follow by teaser of impending doom. Fills you in, sets the mood. New trailer feels very amateur in comparison.

Tengu must be first. They deserve the addition more than any other race because of their long history with the series, distinctive culture, varied appearance potential, and large aesthetic difference as opposed to any other race. They even have an established racial city.

Plus they were “a strong candidate” for playable race at launch, according to the ‘Making Of’ book. They require the least amount of work, development and lore wise, to be playable. I can pretty much guarantee they’ll be the next race.

Largos will likely come when our focus turns to Bubbles. And Kodan when we go after Jormag.

This is why I love being a historian.

If ANet knew their European history, they would know that the ability to purchase officer’s commissions between the 17th and 19th centuries led to highly incompetent armed forces. The greatest of the early modern period’s armies (Prussia) never used allowed such a practice and consequently was able to win wars where they were literally surrounded on all sides by hostile nations.

Why then would ANet include a system in game that mimics one of the greatest systemic military blunders in history?

Because this is a video game, not the real world. There is no organized military force (non-NPC) in game for professionally training and ranking commanders. Nor should there be; either hiring a group of people for this purpose or doing it themselves would be a waste of money and resources on ANet’s part.

Instead of making unrealistic comparisons, how about some constructive suggestions? For example: a rating system. Allow players to +1 a commander. Players can only +1 a particular commander once, and cannot -1, though they can rescind their +1 if they desire. When hovering your mouse over a commander’s tag you see their rating # underneath their name. This would prevent trolls/rivalries from downvoting commanders into oblivion, while allowing anyone to easily see how respected/successful a commander is.

GW2 Hard Mode : How to make it work

What’s wrong with going wherever you want? That was how it worked in GW1. Isn’t the idea that you’ve already earned access to those areas, and now you can face greater challenge in any of them at your leisure? You’d still have to redo map completion in hard mode, you could just do it where you pleased.

Anyway, are you really suggesting these perfected portal devices be the only way to access hard mode? That, even if I’ve uncovered the entire map in hard mode, the only way to get in is to spend 20+ ectos every time? And what if I want to do hard mode with friends? We all have to use our own portals, and get thrown to different parts of Tyria? No thank you.

I would much rather see it implemented the way it was in GW1. That is: you beat the game and gain a hard mode button on your UI. When this button is selected, entering any non-city map puts you in a hard mode copy of that map.

I think the concern from ANet’s end is probably splitting of the playerbase, though with the megaserver this isn’t really the issue it used to be.

Jade Sea status: still frozen?

in Lore

Posted by: Kalarchis.8635

Kalarchis.8635

How about this one then? Here’s a root with flat-out straight line demarcations between the grey and brown parts. I understand the shading argument, particularly since Morostov has a reddish tint to it. But I can’t look at that bit in the second picture and see anything other than wood.

More important is that we were told in EotN that Echovald was changing (though it did specify that the growth was new), and that the Jade Sea probably wasn’t. If they were the same, shouldn’t they revert at more or less the same rate? And if they were different, why would Echovald changing mean that the Sea would also change?

You misunderstand me. I said that even if the rate of magical reversion were the same, Echovald would return to “normal” more quickly b/c this process is aided by the growth of new plants, which are not tied to the magic reverting. Therefore Echovald’s return to normal = magic fading + new plants growing in stone, while Jade Sea’s return to normal = magic fading only. The forest has a mechanism which will return it to normal even if the magic doesn’t fade, whereas the sea does not.

It’s also possible that the new plants growing in the stone have the effect of increasing the speed of magical reversion for the forest.

Yes, that’s exactly why I went back to those zones: to see if the greenery was merely new plants growing on the stone, or if the stone was actually reverting. What I found is that both scenarios were occurring.

Presumably this means that, even if the rate of magical reversion was the same, the Forest would return to a natural state faster than the Sea would.

Kalarchis.8635

So I went back to Morostov Trail, one of the greener Echovold Forest zones from GW1. More than simply new plants growing on the stone, I found roots and trees that were visibly in the process of turning back into wood. Picture attached.

What this tells me is that the effects of the Jade Wind do reverse with time. Therefore, the Jade Sea should be turning back into water. The question is: how quickly? Konig, I like your idea that parts have turned back into ocean but there are still big jadebergs scattered around, hence the sculpture.

I would presume that, given enough time, all jade removed from the Sea will return to water. However, I would also presume that there must be some magical method of preventing pieces of the jade from reverting. Surely such a method has been discovered by the Luxons over the last 250 years.

I agree with most of what you said but this bit needs addressing:

I feel that the prices of precursors and the crazy rare chances of getting them are good just the way they are, why? Because they are a key ingredient to making legendaries and legendaries are called legendaries for a reason, they are meant to be hard to obtain so people who grinded their way to make it can show it off, its an achievement so work for it.

The reason that people are upset about precursors is because there are only two ways to get them: play the Mystic Forge lottery or shell out upwards of 800g to buy it off the TP. Neither of these options are appealing. There’s nothing legendary about praying to the RNG gods or farming (or buying) absurd amounts of gold. As well, many of us have been playing since headstart with thousands of hours of play, in almost every game mode, and have never seen a precursor drop.

Add the fact that the Chinese can (if paying the optional VIP subscription) simply do dailies for a set period of time and they are handed a precursor box, and you should understand why western players are ticked off. We want a way that we can earn a precursor through our own merits.

Granted, ANet has mentioned a couple times that they’re working on ways that we can do this. So, as usual, player frustration comes from the fact that we continue to receive zero word on this, and likely will not until two weeks before this system is launched.

All you have to do is log in while any piece of content is on stage and you’ll have permanent access to it, forever. One login is not asking very much. The 200 gem price after that is completely reasonable. The dev comparison to TV is an apt one: when a show first comes on, you can record it for free, but after the initial airing you can pay (Netflix, DvD, whatever,) to see it again. And if you don’t want to pay, all the permanent stuff (new maps etc) will still be free to play out of the box.

200 gems per chapter means four chapters (two months of content) for $10. It’s cheap enough to be reasonable, and pricey enough to encourage people to buy the game now if they want the content. Sounds like a great business decision to me.

This is just a state of mind. When you turn on the radio, you don’t worry about the thousand shows you missed across all the radio stations since yesterday. You turn on the radio to listen to the show that is on now. Treat your GW2 the same way. Log on and play the living story that is there now. A returning player has exactly the same content now as anyone else. Just like the radio, you don’t need to know what has gone before in order to enjoy what is there now.

I refuse, because GW2 is a video game. Every video game I’ve purchased in my entire life worked like this: you buy the game, all of the content is yours to experience at your leisure (holiday events aside.) This has been a truth of video games since the original pong. GW2 is the first game I’ve experienced that introduces content and then takes it away from you.

This is not real life. It’s not radio (which, btw, is recorded and you can go listen to it as you please.) It’s a video game. And this video game has broken the most basic of expectations by removing content.

^ cainejw gets it.

Boredom forced me away from GW1 a couple times. What kept me coming back was that, in a relatively short period of time, I had access to Cantha and Elona and Eye of the North. It quadrupled the amount of game that I had to work with. There was so much to do…vanquishing, title-hunting, FA arena, FoW, UW, DoA, RA, dungeons, Sorrow’s Furnace, hard mode (miss so much!), spending far too much time and money on heroes…It kept me occupied all the way to GW2.

Meanwhile, in GW2 all that’s keeping me interested is Tequatl, Wurm and Fractals, and those only because I avoided them until recently. I want to be interested, but the game is simply stale. I’m not getting my hopes up about S2 because I don’t want to be disappointed. Zen-like, I have cast off all worldly expectations.

So there’s your low bar, ANet. Impress me.

Sorry to see you have hard time believing others’ experiences. What I find annoying is those preferring to believe that it may be the result of zerging (definitely prefer not as find it incredibly boring) or spamming 1 only. Definitely not the case as that is what the other nine skills are for and are frequently much more interesting (elites could be better but…). AFK, although others may be and leads to failures, I don’t understand that mentality (game running and you are not playing….).

Recently I was on the map helping friends with heart quests, viewpts etc (been on the map awhile) and we came across the Teq event. Three people (besides us). We tried a couple times because they waned to, and big surprise….no success.

The part that I bolded is why I have a hard time believing you. When people start arriving for Teq, they’re put into existing maps first. Maps that have been around for a while b/c of people exploring like you were. These are the first maps to fill up. The only way to hit a low-pop map is to show up five minutes before spawn. So I find the idea that you were on an older map and there were only six or so of you at Teq to be completely ridiculous.

This is why I didn’t believe you in the first place. To say in the same sentence that you’ve tried multiple times and that it’s also a ghost town is, post-megaserver, complete nonsense. Either you’re showing up too late every time, or you’re a liar. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt.

If tequatl is so freaking easy then help me get into your “easy” overflow i have attempted it sooo many times it all relies on luck, with the whole overflow/megaserver system its almost impossible for someone to beat this boss, in HOD i get there 20 minutes early wait and we fail it all the time, WITH people in TS so don’t give me this crap that it’s easy because it’s not.

Even with people in TS, Teq is tuned in such a way that it’s easy to fail if a number of conditions aren’t met. It’s all about zerg survivability. If too many people are in the wrong gear or traits, the zerg is too spread out, fingers aren’t being reflected/killed properly, people aren’t coordinating waters and banners to heal and revive, and/or there’s not enough DPS, defeat is almost ensured. The zerg wastes the entire fight scattered and trying to pick itself up.

The key to beating this fight is steady progression. Learn from every attempt and push to do a bit better next time. I really can’t stress gear enough. I play ele and getting a full PVT set with proper runes and sigils made a tremendous difference. Class specialization as well. Skills and traits that offer group support are wonderful here. Every class has unique roles that they can fulfill during this fight, and successful runs are when most of the players know their roles and are properly equipped for them.

GW2 needs shift to 'instanced' content

@ Draknar

I think what Hydroclasm is getting at is that the open world system for these fights is frustrating to organize. People are forced to enter the map WAY ahead of time and sit around waiting for 30 minutes to an hour or more just to participate in a short fight. The map fills up to hardcap well before the boss shows up. This is counter to Anet’s original philosophy of having no “waiting to have fun” content in the game.

Now I’m not sure of Hydroclasm’s stance on instances, but instances would help solve this issue. If Tequatl was in a dungeon instance, and people could form a group with the LFG tool, there would be no need to physically reserve your spot in advance. You could just find a group with room and engage in Jolly Cooperation.

Don’t get me wrong, being there to hear the commander explain the fight is hugely beneficial. But that can be done in 2 minutes right before you pull the boss.

I really doubt instances would solve anything. Clueless randoms would still be showing up last minute, and probably in greater numbers b/c the LFG makes it more appealing. Anyone serious about the fight would still be filling up their maps half an hour early for the same reason they do it now: to ensure that they’re on a map with others who are serious and not the last-minute peanut gallery. Even with LFG, showing up 5 mins before the fight would still be a recipe for a lousy map copy.

And really, 2 mins to get people in TS, set up turret operators, defense groups, ERT, discuss builds/tactics with those who need help, etc? I know you’re exaggerating but come on.

Or just until you provide a way for people to communicate to 150 players on the map

Map chat works pretty well for me

Since the revamp, I’ve been present for exactly 0 successful Teq runs, out of literally hundreds. Hell, since the mega-server deal, the actual damage he has taken from us has gone down. When it was server specific, we’d regularly see him get as low as 75% health. Since the mega-servers kicked in, the absolute best I’ve seen is 90% of max.

Definitely needs a tone-down. Not back to where it was but better than where it is. Since the revamp, I have never seen him go down/be defeated once. I’ve tried multiple times and now, it is a ghost town.

Sorry, but I have a really hard time believing either of you.

There are two ways I do Teq. On Sundays I lead the Fort Aspenwood guilds to victory. Throughout the week I’ll often tag along on random maps, or get ferried into a good map by one of the other Teq commanders that I know.

The key to both of these methods is show up 45+ mins early. If you get there early enough and play Megaserver map roulette a couple times, I guarantee you that you’ll find a map with enough organization to at least get him through a few burn phases, if not an outright victory.

But if you treat him like the other bosses and show up 5-10 mins before the event, you will be put into an empty map that fails, guaranteed, because everyone that was serious about the fight grabbed a map and hardcapped it half an hour ago.

Leave Teq alone. There are twenty other afk-zerg bosses for casual play. Even Karka Queen has turned into a 111111 yawn-fest. Let us have our challenge bosses.

Beware Station Recipes . . .

At current prices:

5 x Superior Stones = 66s

1 x Sharpening Stone Station = 24g

For the price of one station you can make about 180 stones, without using precious asc. mats to boot. I can’t see the station being the better choice…ever.

Last night I got into a pavilion dominated by [AARM]. They had organized everyone around six tags and were coordinating on TS so all bosses were killed at the same time. Got gold a few times and for the six minutes taken it’s decent loot.

That said, the reason this was possible is that 95% of the map was [AARM] players. Including myself and a friend I saw maybe six people from other guilds. [AARM] hardcapped the map pulling their guildies in and it payed off for them. But we’re not all in huge guilds, so if most of us want to do this we have to contend with herding the randoms. I intend to tag up today and give it a shot, so we’ll see how it goes (expecting a Mari/knights repeat.)

As far as the loot, I get that decision. I actually prefer the loot to be tied to group success. But no XP? Come on, guys. Doesn’t count for daily kills, can’t level an alt, bloodlust sigil is useless. What’s the deal?

BTW – Gold loot was decent but it could definitely use a buff if you want to incentivize the majority of players to actually do this content.

Let's be honest

Everyone is disappointed in the living world, especially because it doesn’t bring any real permanent content to the table. An expansion needs to be released with tons of new content, including: new zones, dungeons, races, and hopefully a new way for the story to be told. The personal story just doesn’t work for me, I was never drawn into it. I don’t understand why anet is so focused on the living story, when they should be using their time and resources on providing permanent content that wil keep players playing. Instead it’s being used on a living story that nobody is even all that fond of. You’re messing up anet, shape up.

Is this a joke? You title the thread “Let’s be Honest” and then your first statement is a total lie. How can you expect anyone to take you seriously?

While “everyone” may be an exaggeration, the consensus I’ve seen from the forums, players in game, and all of my real-life friends is that the living story was a disappointment (with potential) that did not live up to our expectations. Obviously there are exceptions, as is evident in the high rating of the second post of this thread.

Instead of simply attacking the OP for making generalizations, do you have anything of value to add to this discussion? Maybe an argument as to why you liked the living story and think it was a proper equivalence to an expansion’s worth (see my posts above) of permanent content?

Thank you for the reply, Matthew. I suppose that asking for non-event, non-festival content to populate the zone during the off time would be too much? Really, I just love the zone to death. It’s my favorite place in the game hands down and I really miss it when it’s not around.

Guess I’ll just have to really get my fill (and plenty of screenshots) these next two weeks
