I tried to solo him many times but if you cannot dps him down fast or walk over a ’’bugged’’ he just walks away around 75% in the best case and regain all the HP.But it’s a nice boss.

And the origin of the title has been discussed many times over – has to do with lore that led up to GW1, not a game mode.

It may be Zammoros trolling the users of the MF by giving them accuracy sigils because of the “high” accuracy the forge has in dropping precursors…
The irony of this ^^ And better yet for me it’s either accuracy or rage. I guess Zommoros really is a troll.

“Hey grif…chupathingy…i like it, it has a ring to it…”
KarateKid thanks for the advice on a good location with enough density of spawn to make this worthwhile. While I still seem to get more claws, eggs and hides than meat, raptors are better than moas by far. This allows me to more reliably procure what I need to make pot feasts for WvW because I’d rather gather what I need than pay for it on the tp. Focused farming puts me to sleep after about 20 minutes so this is an excellent place to do some daily categories and get materials I need in the process.
I’m still certain I could likely make more gold in that half hour I spend each day by doing some other activity but this works for me and allows me more time in WvW (where I don’t really make gold so much as spend it).
You’re welcome.
Now wines have literally captured the waypoints.

In about 45 minutes, there’s a Cab that will have a firm grip on me, for example.
Those defending TreeHorn – you DO realize SOME of us are continuing snark at him because it bugs y’all, right?
I’m tentatively rescinding my snark at Anet about nerfing this area.
Assuming any dev or staff member has seen this thread – the raptors have been left alone; unlike the charr on the bridge just to the west (and no, I don’t mean the bugged out ones – the ones post-bug fix) whose spawns were nerfed from space via a ginormous pause in the middle of the event.
Perhaps the most popular items should use a better algorithm. Something that takes into consideration the ratio of orders that exists at an upper range vs the overall number. I’m not a math-guy, so I don’t know how this sort of magic works, but I’m sure there’s a way to get a better image of real demand vs fake 5,000,000 minimum possible offer orders.
I’m still fuzzy on how order popularity (on either side) is even conveying a real and useful message to a potential trader…
Number of items actually SOLD or BOUGHT would be useful, but that landing page (and most of the hype on the GW2 “M@ke G0ld Nao! with our secret method” web sites that are out there) is not.
This happens to varying levels every few weeks. As a player, my only concern would be “how” those orders are being placed. If via mass-automation (a bot) AND if it’s lagging the TP, then I’d hope Anet would stomp the user(s) doing it.
Otherwise, it has no real effect on the market and I just don’t use the TP landing page overview screen for a couple weeks (which is fine, because it’s of so little real use, I only use that landing page as a quick link/bookmark to ectos most of the time, anyway).
Gaaaaahh!
Cool, but the method of discovery kinda pummels the 4th wall.

Stuff is changing between the 2-week cycle. Vines on waypoints, new conversations/new books, a mysterious figure in Dry Top …
It’s staggered to let the story evolve, if you’re looking. I love the pacing, personally.
I hated the every two weeks, use-it-or-lose-it design. Now that content can be replayed, it’s cool. And yes, the continuous evolution of the story is a fantastic improvement. I’m sensing Anet heard and implemented improvements.
The effect Taimi’s degenerative condition has on her varies. Like a lot of people with chronic pain, she has good days (when she can get around relatively easily) and bad days (where she can’t). The worse her pain is on a given day/time, the worse her limp. As she stated in the Festival of the Four Winds:
PC: How are you feeling?
Taimi: Thank you for asking. My legs are good today discomfortwise, but I can’t get complacent: my mobility is capricious, changing from one hour to the next. Luckily, Scruffy is always standing by.Hope this helps,

feed him the chicken feed
Related to chickens, what’s with the pair of chickens stuck in the wall some 20m above ground level between the town and mine? I haven’t noticed them before.. has anybody else seen them?
I’ve seen them at least since day 2 (maybe even first day) – there was a blurb somewhere (wiki? Dulfy?) that stated they were a reference (shout out trope) to another video game?? I wish I could find that now, but can’t.

Yes yes and yes. I was so excited to see that I couldn’t see in the dark.
So glad ArenaNet seems to be actively exploring the ideas of actual darkness and dynamic weather.
Here’s an old thread where we brain- stormed alot about the possibilities of dynamic weather systems:

I’ve seen ‘wierd’ instead of ‘weird’ many times. And although English isn’t my first language, I’m quite positive the latter is the correct way to spell the word.
It can sometimes be difficult to remember the correct spelling for some words. There was an exercise with a long list of these words (‘whit’/‘with’, ‘Jhon’/‘John’…) in one of my English schoolbooks.
I try to check my posts for any spelling or grammar mistakes and I’m sure everyone (at least the non-native English speakers) does the same. Try to understand us, guys!
An overwhelming majority of posts that apologize and say “English is not my first language” communicate more clearly than I do
ohhh, I just saw one I have to add – AND I saw this same mistake posted by an international news organization the other day, for goodness’ sake: it is “SHOULD HAVE” OR “SHOULD’VE”, NOT “SHOULD OF”.
There, I feel better now.

I’ve gotten to the point lately that if I hit 2 non-typos (like loose above – that’s obviously not a typo but using the wrong word) in the first two sentences, that post is getting skipped.
“Teh” vs. “the” is fine with me, for example, because I know that was hurried typing.
The other “auto-plonks” are those that have no punctuation at all. Here’s a little bonus for the folks that do that: . , ; – …
There, those should come in handy in the future.

Raptors in middle of Bloodtide Coast….with plenty of Bandits and Pirates nearby (bags that have poultry in them).
Did you mean Moa?
I know there’s a small group of slow-respawn raptors over by the frog juicers (a sentence I NEVER would have thought I’d write – ever), but I thought the rest of BTC was primarily moa?
There is an area of Eagle Raptors around the small camp in Risewild Hills. Just killed the last 20 of my Raptor Slayer chievo last night (with a dozen or so Poultry Meat on the side). Also, these do not spawn slow….I’m guessing there is 8-12 of them at any one time and they respawn before you can get back to them in a loop.
From those spidy numbers, there would need to be an influx of about 50,000 poultry into the TP supply to lower the price….very doubtful. I was sharing to help the OP out in terms of finding a non purchase source.
Gahhh I didn’t walk over near the encampment last night – will check it out.

Oh, it’s Thursday again?
My son threw this one at me related to that map above:
The bottom path of the vines head to Thaumanova Reactor whose magical energy is fueling the top path’s trek across Tyria.
What’s a jw?

Allegedly there’s a map (who knows where that is?) that’s tracking the vine spread – we could use that to test the hypothesis.
Check the thread on “What is that vine doing to that waypoint?” Currently bottom of page 3, someone’s kindly put up a map of affected waypoints.
There is this http://abload.de/img/worldmap070914foeer.jpg from reddit.
As is said in the other post, the flickering ones aren’t flickering anymore.
So that makes me think the Tengu to the west of Lion’s Arch are about to get drawn into the Season – assuming they have WP’s in there, I can see the vines spread to them next.

I have my own theory about the vines and the waypoints. What if it’s not vines traveling by waypoint, but spores brought along by travelers, that sprout near sources of magic in order to consume it for Mordremoth?
OH MY GOD. We missed the obvious answer to this. THE TOWER OF NIGHTMARES! You remember how it was stated the spores were spreading across Tyria? It was Chekhov’s Gun! The spores were already planted by the tower, and are now sprouting. It’s how the vines can be at Timberline Falls despite Mordremeth’s distance to it!
I don’t think thats how it went down, scarlet wouldnt of bothered with the miasma if that was really her plan all along i dont think she would of even bothered attacking LA until the vines grew, scarlet knew of mordys corruption via the vision and with the help of mordys corruption/vision created the miasma that allowed her the time to drill the layline could mordy of woke himself up as soon as scarlet hit the layline because of zhaitans death? (He immediately attacks the pact, thats saying ALOT about mordys plans, so mordy wanted the layline to be hit, maybe to have the vines travel on it? (Which backs up the layline travel theory)
hmmm, alternative: what if the player base is spreading some sort of spore? i.e. PC’s visit drytop, start wp’ing all over the place, first place they land is of course the destination WP… vine spore/seed spread.
So the players are the ones spreading the corruption in this hypothetical.
Allegedly there’s a map (who knows where that is?) that’s tracking the vine spread – we could use that to test the hypothesis.
A nice deal for those who enjoy the gambling chests. Not for me though.
I have the same outlook on it. If they want me to buy keys, they need to do certain things. First, the sheer amount of black lion chests on the TP needs to drop below 1,000 and their rarity needs to go up. Preferably, it should get to the point where a chest is worth 60 to 100 gold. One way of doing so would be flushing 250 of them and a few various other items (bloodstone dust immediately comes to mind) in the mystic forge for a guaranteed black lion ticket scrap.
Once this is accomplished, that recipe is dropped and every chest would guarantee a black lion ticket scrap as well as at least one highly sought after item. Personally, I would write an algorithm that would make whatever crafting material that has the highest TP gold value the second item. That way, prices would balance themselves out somewhat and chests will always be desired but their gold value will eventually be less than the exchange value of one black lion key.
The other two item slots can be for whatever fluff they feel like sticking in the chest but there would need to be a way to turn them into something useful BY PLAYER STANDARDS! I can’t stress that enough. I have loads of boosters that just take up space because I have more patience than any desire to use them but nothing else to use them for.
Eventually this would equal out the chances of getting a black lion ticket at random with failing 10 times in a row but still having enough scraps to make a full ticket.
The ticket scraps I can see (although Anet could probably show that such an idea would lead to them losing value over time with skin→gold→gem conversion – I don’t know if that’s a valid concern or not).
Crafting materials I’d LIKE, but eventually it’d lead to arguments like “…people are crafting using the proceeds from black lion chests, ergo p2W!” Anet has drawn a line in the sand on the gem store being used to make your character more powerful, so I think that’d be a hard sell.
I figured it had been a while since I did keys and I still have a ton of refund gems from the town clothes mess. So here’s the results from 15 chests:
2 repair canisters (70 gem value)
3 revive orbs (not sure, can’t find in gem store)
2 speed boosters (not in gem store)
2 skill point scrolls (not in gem store)
1 total makeover kit (350 gem value)
3 xp boosters (450 gem value)
5 claim scraps (not in gem store)
6 unidentified dyes (hard to calculate, 200 gems/7-dye pack)
2 armor boosters (not in gem store)
4 transmutation charges (120 gem value)
3 gathering boosters (450 gem value)
2 bank expresses (70 gem value)
3 crafting boosters (450 gem value)
4 TP expresses (200 gem value)
1 hair kit (250 gem value)
1 merchant express (35 gem value)
1 large guild discovery (300 influence) (not sure, I seldom buy influence but it’s gold in game, not gems)
1 strength booster (not in gem store)
1 100 Luck (not in gem store)Thus well over 1K gems worth of items if I were inclined to buy all those things. I am not. Of those things I would buy on the store at need if none dropped in game, let’s see, the two style kits and the transmutation charges, those are 720 gems in value. Though I do actually use the armor and strength boosters and revive orbs in dungeons, as well as repair kits (less of those now that repairs are free anyway).
I use the expresses when I feel like it, not often. I already know all the non-exclusive dyes (tossed a Hot Pink on the TP from the Red Patch).
I’d say I don’t feel ripped off by what I got.
I wouldn’t feel “ripped off”, but I think this is where Anet’s monetization guru’s making a lot of assumptions. There are so few things in that list to which I attribute value/actual usefulness… highest on the list above was the Guild Discovery, but as stated, that can be bought for gold.
In the store, the only things I find compelling to buy are the various account slot and storage upgrades. Those have actual value to me. The keys fall behind that because I am a bit of a gambler. The rest of the aesthetic stuff I think of as those little trinkets you get from a grocery store coin-op vending machine.
I suspect the contents of the chests are being decided based upon gem value, not actual demand by the majority of players. Which is kind of funny, given Anet sets the gem prices for those items… kind of a “valuation echo chamber” where Anet thinks the chests are actually valuable because they said they are
After going over 18 months without keys dropping, I’ve had 2 drop since LS2 started. Has anyone else noticed this?
Nope – precisely the opposite – I got a couple in rapid succession about a month or so ago, haven’t seen another since.
Ascended refinement… lookin’ at all of ‘em right here. …Leather, 50 Thicks = 150 scraps…. Mith, 50 = 100 ingots, 50 Eld Planks = 150 logs —- so why then, is each silk bolt made from 3 scraps and then we need 100 of thos? That’s 300 scraps per day to refine and they’re costing more than Goss. While the next most comparative resource, Thick Leathers, are ridiculously cheap still. I don’t recall anything justifying this before I took a break, Silk was fairly cheap but not too cheap. Lemme “Spidey” it real quick.
…oh god why… What were they thinking? Well the price hasn’t come down infact it’s still trending steadily upwards. Obviously I wasn’t around at the time it exploded so I didn’t hear their * cough cough * skritt reasoning so that’s why I’m asking. I just did a CM explore, we cleared nearly ALL the mobs. Y’know how much scrap I got? 7 scraps of silk. Awesome…. yeah I can totally see why we needed a sink this big …. * not *
Anyone remember why this was made this way?
They musta said something about it… assuming Smith still posts here?
It used to be so plentiful you’d vendor 250-stacks of it because noone would bid vendor +1.
Anet created more uses for it to clear out some of the ridiculous supply we had (which also had the net effect of raising the price).
Anet did not create new sources of it, so after a short period, players started scavenging all the containers that have them off the TP.
Shortly after that, all the blue and green light armors, and so it continued.
IIANE (economist), but:
If Anet tries to manipulate at the demand side directly (fewer scraps to make a bolt, for example)and immediately, the least damage that could occur is a straight 1/3 value reduction on the commodity – that’d be a bit of a sudden shock to the economy as a whole. Not granular enough a “control”.
EDIT: Forgot this part -> Which is how we got where we are now. In hindsight, though, with Ascended coming down the pipeline at the time, could supply-side adjustment have even WORKED?
It would be better to see a gradual increase in sources of silk.
EDIT2: OHHHH!! The worms giants call would work – specially with more giants coming!
Due Diligence Caveat: I own exactly 100 total bolts of silk, so not got a stake in anything they choose to do.

When GW2 got released it was very different from GW1. But after about a year Anet started to implement gameplay mechanics from GW1 into the game again. Stuff like free retraiting, normal cutscenes and skill (trait) capturing.
And now they brought back the lockpick system and the missions are replayable and have bonus objectives like in Prophecies (espcially the bonus where you need to defeat the Inquest during the Aerin fight reminded me of that). So i find it interesting how the devs were experimenting a year long just to come back to where they started.
Did you have similair thoughts about that?
(Also it would be fascinating to hear a response from Anet about it.)
Well, your examples are things that worked well and were well-received. It’d make sense to repeat those successes.
It’s been a very long time since I made a video, and I just started playing GW2 again (finally got a character to lvl 80).
and after listening to some music and exploring the world of Tyria, I felt kind of compelled to make a story/scenery montage so here’s my practice shot! Hopefully next time I can find more actors and create actual set pieces, but aside from that any input would be much appreciated!

Snowstorms.
Having snow storms in the shiver peaks would be amazing. ad hidden chests to it, that makes those maps better to?…

For the rest: don’t care either way… but actual snowstorms in the Pass, Shiverpeaks, and Frostgorge? Yes.
