You are right.

You can’t judge a class over the forum.

But I would like to precise that necro whining on the forum are about the BUGS, and not the power of the class.

Necro are now a really strong class in tPvP. Their staff/well spaming build is one of the most reliable source of dps/conditions in the game.

But they have the worse bug in the games. I played all 3 “bugged” class (Necro, Engineer, Ranger). All of them have an amount of bug that shouldn’t be there 4 month after release.

But Necro is the worse, they have a whole class mecanism bugged (minions), Many minor bugs that I still wonder how they are still there.

Ranger got a lot better since last patch. Now that the pet are more reliable, their tank build is awesome. A lot of regen and defence + infinite vigor + Pets awesome dps + going with 2 wolf like pet for CC.

Engineer are bugged too, but are also underperforming. Sure you can do well with an engineer, but imagine what you could do with a mesmer with the same skill.

I think people should still play engineer, as the classe is a lot of fun and different from the usual warrior/mage/rogue style.

And about our nerf, it’s bad enought that they nerfed our best dps (Grenade) to balance our sigil. Nerf happen in mmo, we all know it. But when they nerf us, and buff Shatter mesmer, now It’s getting ugly.

Do you tPvP? Or even sPvP?

There is a reason why you don’t see more then 5% of engineer. You have to fight flawless to be effective, and you are pigeon holed in a bunker build.

On one of my build, I have MORE skills then an elementalist, which Anet said they were the hardest class to play.

I have to juggle between 4-5 kits + toolbelt without a mistake, to expect to maybe win if I’m not fighting one of my counter. If I ever encounter a good Mesmer or P/D thief? just run away.

In WvW it’s a lot better, people are less skilled and more build are useful. Hell I’m running a nearly glass cannon build with static bolt and I’m having a lot of succes. WvW with engineer is fun!

I disagree with OP in a sense, if you want to play Engineer, go for it! The class is really fun to play, has a lot of option, and is great in WvW.

But if you want an easy and effective class in PvP, go somewhere else. tPvP will be hell for you and you will be stuck in a bunker build that’s less efficient then Guardian ect.

Engineer has a high skill level cap, some build even higher then Elem. I don’t see how Anet didn’t see that yet. If we make a mistake, we don’t have much “Oh kitten” skill like Ride the lightning, their blink and mist form. We are done if we miss our rotation. And with the lag I had in sPvP lately (didnt have it in WvW) it sure doesn’t help.

Tl;DR : Good Class! Fun Class! But you will have to outplay your oponnent to win.

Ele Vapor form is the BEST downstate #2 ability in the game right now. Even Anet said it during the last Q & A.

I don’t understand how anyone can say it’s useless when you are not near a tower.

• It’s an AoE interrupt. If 10 player try to finish you, you can cancel all 10 finisher by going vapor form and moving. Warrior,Engineer, necromancer, and to a limit Ranger(such a little aoe) have a single target interrupt.

• It’s a moving ability. Not only are you cancelling the finisher by moving out of range, but they have to run at you to finish you again. 1-2 more sec or survival. Only Mesmer and thief have a mover ability.

• It’s not effected by blind, stability, stealth, mini dunk or any other invul finisher. Only 2 other class, thief and mesmer, can do that.

• You can position yourself where you want. Died in their zerg? Move back to your zerg. Move out of LoS. Move in the keep. Only thief can choose where they port, and they can’t go tru door.

winning 3-4 seconde of downed state is BIG in team fight. That’s 3-4 sec of the ennemy trying to kill you while your team finish them.

And by the way, you can’t be CC’d in Vapor form. They tested it in the Elem forum. The only thing that can block you are Wall like ability of guardian. So yeah try to time that.

This post is an answer to everyone saying Vapor form isn’t strong. You might want to try Engineer or Necromancer downedstate.

If Anet ever nerf vapor form, I hope they will buff their #3 in return.

Devona’s last match up have been again 2 dropping server (SF I’m realy surprised, not sure what happened to them).

It’s really hard to evaluate servr in Tier7-8 right now, because many of those have been in a free fall (HoD, ET and now SF).

It will be a harder challenge for DR, and they will be able to test their tactics again “healthy” server.

P.S : GoM seems to be doing better as the match up goes on. Yesterday evening, they really pushed hard in WvW. Previously in other match up, it also happened that GoM did a come back late in the match up.

If they could do it all match up, we would be in trouble!

Yeah but it’s kinda weird, especially since Big Ol Bomb is hard to see if you casted or not during the fight.

Rifle is my favorite weapon in the game! More than any other class weapon.

Immobilization, Knock back, Leap, Bleed, Burst damage all on the same weapon.

Please don’t trade it for the lackluster warrior rifle. I don’t want to be a one trick pony.

Rifle is harder to use, but you get so much more utility when you learn it.

If you want range, use the pistol

Got a question for engineer communty!

I remember I had this issue before, and since I started to play my engineer, I seem to have the same issue with Big Ol bomb.

I use it, and many time it doesn’t drop it. I press my macro, and my rotation continu and nothing happen.

It’s really annoying, since when I combo people with BoB I need a precise timing and order. If I don’t cast the bomb, I waste my combo.

It’s the only skill that I have trouble casting.

Is it an individual issue? Am I the only one that sometime the BoB doesn’t cast?

Adrenaline Implant isn’t bad, but it isn’t GrandMaster Trait material.

Ranger have the same traits for 5 points, and we need 30 point for it. They could just swap it with another traits lower and boost the new one, or boost it to 100% regen.

Would still be boring, but it would be incredible.

Vigoir + 100% regen + 10% on toolbelt use!

We sure had a lot of fun! We had one catapult and 2 arrow cart, but they did a hell of a job. You guys were rentless, we had to do suicide run to kill your catapult. It costed me a lot in repair. (I was the suicidal female norm engineer that went for your siege).

Too bad some random took supply in the tower, and we never could finish our upgraded wall. It stopped at 95% upgrading, and each time we tried to get a camp, NSP or GoM was there to stop our Dolyak!

By the way, I agree NSP saved us about 2-3 time. It was unexpected! When we saw that big OS group come around, we thought our tower would be gone.

But I correct you, they tried to siege it (Why!!!? couldn’t they siege there own tower!)
But we destroyed their rams fast.

But it went downhill after that. We were fighting NSP one side, and we found GoM sieging us from behind. I don’t know if you guys got a commander all of suddenth, but you started to build a lot of cata.

We had no supply, we had to do supply run from other borderland. After 2 hour of hold, we finally got destroyed. We tried to use a breakout event after that, but we were only 10, and couldn’t complete it.

GoM have been restless and it was an awesome fight with you guys! Let’s do this again!

I’m doing a come back on my Engineer. It’s still my first love.

With the recent nerf to Grenade, I changed my build a bit.

I’m going 30 points in Tools, but I find Tools Grandmaster traits to be kinda lack luster.

Armor Mods -> Retalition for 3/5 sec when you receive a critical hit. (25 sec ICD)

• I’m not sure of the duration since I’m not at home. Wiki list it at 5 sec, while my traits builder list it at 3 sec. Am I the only one that think 5 seconde of retaliation every 25 sec is really lack luster? On my necro, I can get a free retalition buff for 3 sec when I use DS for 10 points in spite. I’m not even sure I would use it if it was a minor traits. It’s also pretty boring.

• This trait is really boring. A flat 50% endurance regen. The dev were bored and decided to go for a simple trait? Even worse, Ranger got the SAME trait, for their first FIVE traits. The same exact trait.

I’m pretty sure bunker build with minion will be really really strong.

You keep your tankness while still outputing some nice damage.

Just like how Ranger are getting back in the game now. They got their pet AI buffed, and now tank build + dps pet = ownage.

But when will it happens Zenyoga? We asked for a debug since release, and just last week they asked us to continu testing for more information. Meaning that they prolly didn’t find the issue yet.

I have a lot of respect for NSP and what they did (didn’t remember the tier 2).

Just the way you worded it, made it sound like NSP had it harder then other server and we should admire them for this.

NSP was a top server (I believe we were T1 before the move) until our major alliance (several hundred players) left. We had a free fall all the way back down to T8. That was back in…September I believe? Might have been early October.

I don’t know Anvil Rock’s history, and frankly I really couldn’t care less. But don’t run around with some sob story because most of the servers below T4 have either had the same problems, or have never had success at all.

Don’t take is so hard man, only explaning that NSP isn’t in a worse situation then most server.

I don’t remember NSP ever being Top 1? Tier 3 max? never seen NSP in T1 or T2.

Every server lost guild, we lost ANV early, being a couple hundred of player. I don’t try to get sympathy, I was just annoyed by Rob saying we should admire your conviction…

Every server work hard to keep it up, no one in the lower tiers had it easy.

Yeah when I log on after work, I usually see a Green EB, and we have to start over each time

What? #4 WH is awesome, especially when you use the warhorn trait. Please don’t change it for a confuse, as most people use with Dagger MH, which is a power weapon. Daze = ownage. And it’s AoE!

Since when does NSP bring the number excuse around? You can say that when you are facing Anvil Rock and Gate of Madness!

I would say NSP population is pretty equal to Anvil Rock. We take control in the peak time, and you come back during the off peak time.

Sadly our missing day crew is really hurting us, and NSP capping everything for 6-7 hours get their score going on.

NSP is a really good server, but don’t use the usual “We don’t have the number, we are more skilled” excuse. Please don’t! Every server say that! We all think we have the best players around, we are patriots. And it’s just plain insulting for other server.

I think Anvil Rock have a good population, but sadly most of it are s/tPvPers. We have a huge tPvp population, and sadly, even if they are skilled, they don’t WvW at all, since they consider it “PVE”.

It’s not the fault of the commanders only, everyone can defend a tower. But you have more responsabilities since you are a PuG magnet.

Your attitude is the reason why I had to defend the alliance to so many players in game. I tried to back the alliance up, but since the exploit I gave up.

And by the way, give me the gold and I will buy it. Also need some for blue print too, and I should be good to go. You attack, I defend. We have a deal

Heal
Consume Conditions: 10/10 – Agree, one of the best heal in the game, outshine the others.

Wells
Well of Blood: 7/10 – I disagree, it one of the best scaling heal in the game. Sadly it has a long cooldown, and stay in the shadow of CC.
Well of Darkness: 8/10 – Very good vs melee class, 5 sec of invulnerability, add chill to it. Only weakness is the cooldown.
Well of Corruption: 9/10 – Good combo with Well of suffering!
Well of Suffering: 10/10 – Great!
Well of Power: 5/10 – Good well, but a really long cooldown. You don’t get to use it often, and since it’s the same graphic that other well, allies don’t know they can stand in it for buff.

Minions
Blood Fiend: 1/10 -Dies fast, you have to keep tracks of him during the fight to be sure you don’t waste it. The activate is a really weak heal. Thief signet is better and you don’t risk losing it.
Bone Field: 3/10 – Not bad, have some positionning issue. The activate is really bad, it doesn’t land 80% of the time.
Shadow Fiend: 3/10 – Bad AI, weak damage, only good thing is the activate is instant cast.
Bone Minions: 5/10 – The activate is really good, and have a short cooldown. But the bugged AI is a plague. I get so mad when I try to explose them on someone, they just never get there at the same time, and I have to run around the target for 1 minute before they finally go in range.
Flesh Wurm: 7/10 -Our best pet, good damage, good hp, Really good activate that break stun and port us. Best escape ability we have. The casting time is bad tho.
Flesh Golem: 7/10 – Really good activate, really good damage and HP. Would be a 10/10 if it wasn’t of the worse AI of the bunch. It nevers attack.

Spectral
Spectral Wall: 6/10 – Not bad, insta stack 10 stack of weakness, grand you of around 6 sec of protection if you use it twice during the duration.
Spectral Walk: 10/10 – Swiftness, life force, stun break.
Spectral Grasp: 7/10 – Really useful and apply a chill to the target. Too bad it’s still pretty hard to land it.
Spectral Armor: 1/10 – Too long of a cooldown to be useful. Spectral Walk is so much better.

Corruption
Epidemic: 10/10 – One of the best spell in the game, especially in groups. Isn’t blocked by LoS.
Blood is Power: 9/10 – A bit boring, but so useful. 10 stack of might is really great, and you can transfer the condition to add more bleeds.
Corrupt Boon: 7/10 – Super good, tho not useful again every class. I don’t understand the shorter range (900). Might should be corrupted to bleeds since it’s stacking.
Corrosive Poison Cloud: – 2/10 – Used it once, didn’t like it, never tried it again.

Signets
Plague Signet: – 6/10 Can be good in pvp, but the bugs with the passive is annoying as it duplicate the conditions. I’m not a fan.
Signet of the Locust: – 5/10 Good since the buff, you only use it to travel. Activate is useless.
Signet of the Undead: – 7/10 The best signet in group if you ask me. I saved my friend so many time with it, and it rez him to 50% hp, which is pretty good. You have to use lower cooldown for signet to be really shinning. The passive is a bit weak tho.
Signet of Spite: – 2/10 Too long cooldown, passive effect is bah, but most class have a similar signet, so nothing to cry about. I never use it. The activate can be useful.

Don’t worry man, it’s only bugged when you target. Once Casted, the marks are really bigger. I mean even if the green target didnÉ’t get bigger, once you cast it on the floor it will be bigger.

It’s annoying, but at least it works as intented.

I witnessed someone else claiming a tower, and he was spammed and insulted for it. They were insulted because he claimed it without the buff, not because he didn’t defend it. So I think it’s all about the buff.

But the claim isn’t the issue, I’m sure we can work around that, since It’s a good idea ot let the alliance claim it for the buff. I’m sure T . A . R . D could give us a bit more defence.

Being mostly a solo player, I can’t substain enought ressources to defend the tower by myself. That’s why I’m proposing the alliance to try to defend more. They have a lot of ressources, hell when I said I had some siege to help them, they linked me around 100 blue prints of each.

I doubt it has anything to do with ressources. It’s only an habit, take every points, but don’t lose time defending it, we will lose it someday anyway. I think we should change this habit to get better.

And don’t lie to me Dovgan :P You are rich like a king! You are one of the reason I started building siege, because I saw you using so many to help us.

And previously, it was easy : You claim the tower, you defend it. That how we were working. But right now, only the alliance can claim the towers/camp, because they can buff it. It’s all good for me, but they should also throw in some blueprint, or at least put someone else in charge.

Nah that are all pretty much worthless except Deadly Strenght, if you have a lot of thoughness.

You rely on fear for damage and control. You use a lot of conditions, and stay at range. I played for some day with this build in WvW, it was really useful.

That was the issue : No upgrade in the tower, not a single siege defense.

Anvil Rock has to start building defense in their tower. That’s how you hold ennemies. I’m not mad at our server for not defending, but I think if we went to get in the upper tier, we have to start doing it. We are still learning how to be more efficient!

You know how it was hard to fight BP? They were always upgrading and building siege on every position. You knew that most tower wouldn’t be a walk in the park, they would defend it.

Anvil Pants got all emotional about it, but I’m not bashing over the alliance in my first post. I’m just asking for more defence. The alliance isn’t perfect, nor am I, but If I can inspire myself from BP, that’s what they did to us.

My second post sure was more bashing the alliance, but I’m still mad at them for the exploit gate.

You tend to forget your pet a bit, but in the middle of a fight it’s hard to remember him :P
