I know I need Lornar’s Pass because I haven’t done it yet.
I’m at 11/13. Every single other map I have done more than once already. I know some of them are complete because I was watching for progress and saw some so at least a few I won’t be doing again.
But I have NO idea which one I need out of the ones I have done multiple times. I have narrowed it down to the 6 most likely ones. But meh. I’m tired of trying to get this achievement. I’ll do Lornar’s pass and wait and see if there is a bug fix.
This truly is annoying. If we contact support could they tell us which ones we are missing? Because I don’t want to do them over and over and over for no results.
Sadly, you are very conservative on your estimate of time. Given that during the time you play, quite possible none of the zones you need might come up and the zones might glitch due to bugs, I would increase the time sink for some people by at least a third.
I’m trying to get the achievements. I want to complete the events properly. Once I am done with 13/13, I may or may not do them anymore because I’m way tired of them. Especially when some of them don’t give me credit and I have to repeat the same zone yet again.
However, I don’t want to do all that work and leave all my reward behind because it is in the middle of mobs left. There are design flaws contributing to this. Partly it is due to people farming and ignoring the event and partly it is due to design flaws.
It is very easy to remember which I have participated in and which I have not participated in. What is difficult is remembering which gave me progress towards completing the 13 and which glitched/bugged/messed up on me and did not give me credit.
They should make the success reward so good that people really really want it. Carrots are better than sticks always.
What they need to do is make it easier TO participate in the actual event.
-Some zones have too many regular events going on and blocked waypoints.
-You have targets all over the place, some you should complete some you shouldn’t.
-You have commanders on the map and you don’t know if they are doing the event to win or farming.
-If you do happen to know where you should go next, well if you waypoint you might get stuck in a different overflow or DC or randomly lose the ability to get credit for completing the zone.
-You should move on after your current target event is done but sometimes there are still mobs there and you are in combat. So you either have to kill the mobs or run far enough away to waypoint.
The thing is, people need to be organized to complete the event. Random people are thrown together into overflow servers with commanders they don’t know and you are in a timed event. This is not conducive to an organized effort.
It’s becoming annoying to see the male characters turned into jokes or mechanisms to make female characters look good in the Living Story. Logan is a love sick puppy who becomes unbelievably stupid when it comes to the queen (it’s really annoying the writers chose not to have him grow from his experience with Snaff, instead repeating the same tired theme over again – it’s not even believable at this point that he didn’t learn his lesson after Snaff’s death, especially after Destiny’s Edge’s reconciliation). ……..
Thinks about all the people she knows in real life that repeat the same mistakes in relationships over and over and over and over…. yeah a lot of people tend to repeat the same mistakes in relationships over and over.
Rox is overly superstitious and is a Rytlock groupie trying to get into his warband. Scarlett is over the top. Players voted Kiel in.
You are just noticing what confirms what you think and not noticing what doesn’t.

I tried to search for a thread that just talked about generic good and bad but the search function wasn’t a lot of help.
Good:
-I think there have been improvements in the actual content. The current content is more fun than the kill 100 or click on 50 quests. Now you are doing a variety of things and the killing 50 or 100 mobs happens naturally while doing events. That is MUCH better in my opinion.
- The UI has improved pertaining to LS
- The rotation of minigames is a nice addition.
- The rewards are very cool. Nice little fluff items.
- The experience, karma, and gold rewards are nice. The drops are nice. I feel like I am being rewarded for doing the content.
Bad:
- It is still too rushed. Missing content and rewards annoys many players. (No, I didn’t say all people, if it doesn’t annoy you, good for you. That doesn’t keep it from annoying me).
- When someone has to be gone for a week or two then they may miss something that has a unique reward or has content that they would love to have had access to earning.
That is ok if it is an occasional thing. I missed content in other games due to bad timing on traveling out of town. It was not a big deal. Why is it a big deal here? Because it is a feature of the game. The game is now designed to make sure you will miss one time content routinely.
- It is still too rushed. Bug, bug, bug, and more bugs. So we have content in now that is for two weeks. We have to do 13 hour long events. Some of them don’t count when you do them. Sometimes you get tossed out of your zone and lose an hours effort. However, the developers will have to spend a lot of time debugging this and then poof, it is gone. Perhaps this can be applied to future events and make them less buggy. Perhaps not. I don’t know.
- and seriously…scarlet spawns in a jp? -_-
I could post more but it is at the tl/dr stage already.

I just completed Timberline Falls. I did not get credit for it. I did participate and we killed Scarlet. I dc’d once during the event and it took a few tries to get back in. As best I can tell, it is the dc that prevented credit.
An update on this one. I wanted to mention that I got full credit for killing scarlet with the extra rares. I noticed when I logged in today and checked achievements that I had not gotten credit on the daily for “daily invasion responder” although I had fought many portals and different types of invaders.
Today, I participated in gendarrin fields invasion on a different character and got the update on the daily right away. This is an area I had completed before and so I didn’t expect to get more credit towards invasions and I didn’t. I’m still 9/13 having participated in 11 areas. I think I’ve narrowed it down to Timberline Falls and either Fireheart Rise or Frostgorge as the missing ones. However, I would love some way of being sure.
Edit: Should I just run around looking for champion clockworks to kill and ignore the rest of the event on the map to ensure credit for the event?

It happened to me once out of all the times I’ve done the invasion.
I just completed Timberline Falls. I did not get credit for it. I did participate and we killed Scarlet. I dc’d once during the event and it took a few tries to get back in. As best I can tell, it is the dc that prevented credit.
I don’t have a tag and don’t want one but I agree it should be account bound.
He didn’t want all that attention anyway. He was a studious, quiet person, who was forced into leadership due to circumstances. He is not some charismatic, egotistical, look at me type that people seem to prefer. Now that he can go back to his research, he breathed a sigh of relief and disappeared. I don’t blame him, people are so rude to him and talk badly about him at every turn.
;)
I agree with you that the pace of Halloween and Flame and Frost were less hectic. I do hope they slow the pace down. I have to go out of town next month for 10 days. I hope I don’t miss out on something that I would really like to see, do , or have as a reward.
It’s too bad you can’t take a break for a couple of weeks and not permanently miss out on content, achievements, and rewards.
Edit: And I disagree with those who say that living story is not contributing to burn out on the game. For some it is contributing to burn out. For others it is contributing to frustration and annoyance. Despite being fun. For others it is doing neither. The consequences vary.

I think it would solve a lot of problems if your “go to” bound was account bound. If you want something to be soulbound….it should go through a process of – why are we making this soulbound? Must it be soulbound? And you should limit it to a very rare occurrence. Make soulbound the exception used for a few circumstances as very few things should be soulbound (imo).
Account bound should be the first choice always. I have many useless soulbound items. Fireworks and today the wvw xp mail item are recent examples.
I listed gauntlet tickets as an example before I came back and edited this, but I see they reverted back to account bound. That’s good but points out another problem. I kept those even though I didn’t intend on using them on most of my characters that had them. I’m glad I didn’t delete them to get them out of inventory.

When I was leveling my cook, I harvested a lot for that and also found all the food karma vendors. She is also a tailor so I farmed for tailor materials.
Now I don’t specifically look for things. I harvest for the daily and harvest as I pass things. I salvage white items for materials too.
I was in overflow at all times. So both those that completed and those that didn’t were in overflow.
Unfortunately I wasn’t watching it close enough to see if repeating it made it count as I don’t know which 2 out of the eight didn’t count. Is there anyway to find out?
I think it might be related to discontenting and then having to reenter the overflow.
Update: I did Sparkfly in the overflow and it updated. There were less people on the map, less lag, and I didn’t dc. I just did Mount Maelstrom and it updated. Both Sparkfly and Maelstrom were areas I had not done before. Both had fewer people in them than yesterday. Both were in overflows. I did not DC during either of these.
I just did Dredgehaunt Cliffs for the second time and this time got credit. I did not DC.
As best I can tell for myself…it may be related to DC’ing at a critical time during the invasion.
(edited by Katz.5143)
1 – Gendarryn Fields
2 – Harathi Hinterlands
3 – Fireheart Rise
4 – Dredgehaunt Cliffs
5 – Iron Marches
6 – Frostgorge Sound
7 – Bloodtide Coast
8 – Blazeridge Steppes
I’ve done 8 different areas. Two of them didn’t count as LS says I have 6 completed. One of the two that didn’t count is either Frostgorge or Fireheart because that achievement is at 1/2.
I have no idea which other one didn’t count. Is there anyway the API development can have something we can use to see which one is missing? I don’t want to have to do all 8 again just to see which one other than Frostgorge or Fireheart I’m missing.
After re-reading the first post. Since Frostgorge updated one acheivement for them and not the other it could be both Frostgorge and Fireheart that aren’t working for me. I’m not sure.
(edited by Katz.5143)
I’ve completed the invasions more than 8 times. Only once did it fail. That was on a map where a good portion of the waypoints were contested and people were having trouble moving to opposite sides of the map. I hope I don’t end up in the overflow servers where you all are apparently failing very often. o.O
The problem is that the aetherblades are dramatically more rewarding than the other two types, so people focus on them to the exclusion of everything else.
Making the other two work like the aetherblades currently do (bunch of veterans with some champions mixed in, followed by another event with a champion “boss”), or the aetherblades work more like the other two would fix this.
This is a great idea. Make each group you need to attack equal in desirability.
(edited by Katz.5143)
It isn’t the home server theory. I’ve gotten credit for 6 areas all in overflow. However the dc theory might be it. I’ve had problems with dc’ing and sometimes its more of a problem than others. The times I didn’t get credit might be related to that. I will watch and see if it is related.
Sadly, since they don’t have a list of which ones you have gotten credit for in your UI, I don’t know which of the 8 I have done didn’t give me credit. Repeating all 8 to get credit for 2 that it glitched on is 8 hours of work. Maybe I will luck out and repeat the right ones early on.
In hindsight I wish I had checked on my credit before and after each and every area and then written the ones that gave credit on a list. :/
(edited by Katz.5143)
I don’t think it is participation. I haven’t gotten credit for fireheart rise and I went in at the very beginning and fought the entire time.
Cool video. I echo the “keep the fight animations” request.
I checked my list. I’ve done 8 different zones and have gotten credit for 6.
I have mine but I had left it in an invisible bag and not deposited in the collectibles in the bank. Several people mentioned not finding it in the bank. Did everyone who is missing one have it in the collectible tab in the bank?
That is easily solved by having 4 or more commanders on the map. The commanders spread out and people flock to the nearest one.
Each zone only counts once. But unfortunately, sometimes they don’t count at all.
You need to stop blaming/raging at players who are playing what anet gave them. It is not natural to kill only certain types of mobs on a map and leave when others are still there. People have to learn what to kill and what to leave. To top it off, sometimes the next place you need to go requires you to waypoint. With mobs still there you are in combat and have to go to lengths to get out of combat and then waypoint. By that time the group may have killed their special target and moved on.
All in all, don’t rage at players about event design that encourages behavior you don’t like. Instead make suggestions to anet about a way to redesign it to not be annoying to you.
Wasn’t one of the big selling points of GW2 the fact that we could show up to an event and partake then split? There was no need to be grouped. Last night and today I’m hearing “If you are not in a group you probably won’t get proper credit..”
O.o did this change with the update?
There are advantages to grouping. One is that if you DC you can get back into your overflow and still finish the invasion. (right click on group member and choose join them). Also, it helps with getting credit for killing things.
I have been dc’d on several occasions because of ISP issues (lost connection to server). Naturally, I was in an overflow area to begin with, but don’t think it really matters in the long run. Naturally, the dc occurs long enough after the 10 min window, so when I DO get logged back in, I’m flat out of luck.
Is there a fix for this?
Here is a work around. As soon as you get into a working overflow, join a group. Then if you DC you can log back into a non-working overflow then right click on a party members picture and choice to to join them. That will put you back to your proper overflow and you can continue. It worked for me several times.
I hope they aren’t permanent. They are a nice temporary change but I wouldn’t want to have to put up with this from now on. O.o
I’m just working on the achievement and I was there the entire time and fought all over the map. Oh well. Guess I will just keep trying it.
I’ve completed Fireheart rise at least 3 times and haven’t gotten credit for the Friend of Fire and Frost for it. I got credit for Frostgorge the first time.
Does anyone know what interferes with getting credit?
It’s easier to just hang on to them or put them in bank just in case.
Yeah its a bit annoying how it doesn’t credit you with things. I’ve been on multiple different maps and gotten credit for only 2. I’ve done both Frostgorge and Fireheart and gotten credit for only one.
Lag is bad. I’ve DC’d more today during the events than I usually do in a month. Other than that I’m enjoying the open map events. It’s a nice change of pace.
1: Mechanical flaws. I’m sure this is a broken record by now, and might’ve even been fixed by the time this post starts circulating around; but why is the communication device soulbound? Not everyone did the opening event on their main, specially since you can theoretically complete it at any level. So those that did that, not including me, are at a disadvantage until this is fixed.
I reckon you didn’t try at any point to talk to Vorrp with another character or you would have received a brand new sparkly communicator usable by that character.
He or she may have done like me and talked to Vorrp a few times before he actually would give you the communicator. I think the point is, why not make the device account bound and re-gettable.
This works sometimes:
If you get into the area immediately form or join a group. If you DC and get back into an overflow with no event, right click someone in your group. That “can” put you back where you were before and you can continue in that overflow. It doesn’t work every time but at least it is a chance.
Not like I remember making it to Yak’s Bend the first time, fighting the doppleganger in the desert, beating glint the first time…….and many other landmarks.
I hope you guys realize that if you don’t want to gamble, you can purchase them off the TP?
At around 50 gold? Nah, I’ll pass. They are quite nice looking. Good job on the looks whoever designed them.
(edited by Katz.5143)
As soon as I read they were from the random purchased chests I lost interest in them.
No hotfix needed!
You can change your character and talk to that Asuran guy near the pavillon again. There you can ask him to give you the decive you don’t have on your current character.
This does not work for me. Instead he asks me if I have completed my tasks.
Anet please for the love of pete quit making things needlessly soulbound.
I did the speech on a lower level character and now I can’t progress. Annoying bug.
Edit: Finally, he offered me the device. After not offering it several times.

So what exactly is the point of liquid karma now?
All karma is account wide, therefore no reason to pass a jug / drip / vial / thimble / etc to an alt.
Boosts no longer work on liquid karma. No reason to even allow the jug / drip / vial / thimble / etc to waste space in my inventory.
Just hand out the karma directly and spare our mice a few clicks.
Exactly. There is absolutely no point in karma containers now. Just add it directly to the karma pool.
And thanks for the response to the problems.
(edited by Katz.5143)
Stop asking guys. Just wait. Its only 2 weeks away.
This is Guild Wars 2. You can miss a lot in two weeks.
Priceless.
Sadly, developers dealing with things like this takes time away from making the game better. The easiest way for them to fix these type problems is to change champions into veterans. Or to make the waves spawn decreasing amounts of champions with each wave. Diminishing returns…where have we seen that happen before?
I want some kind of wardrobe. It’s boring wearing the same looks all the time but I’m not going to sacrifice the look I have to transmute to a new look. I’m not going to buy duplicates of max armor just to be able to keep looks.
I hope they get something in soon. I love how the Hall of Monuments works. It’s nice that the achievement skins are in your interface but I wish they would add a wardrobe or NPC like the one in the Hall of Monuments to the home instances or to the Hall of Monuments.
Also, I really wish the “town clothes” could be worn outside of town and in combat. The only time I use them is for costume brawl.

The jp loot is once a day and probably won’t award that much crafting material. Plus there are other ways to get the crafting material.
Why do you want to come up with so many restrictions/changes/etc.
People who cheat using hacks will most likely jump to each check point and then the chest.
I hope that the focus of the design is regular players. You can get so paranoid about cheaters that you make the game super annoying for regular players.
They probably only said they were reporting you just to get you riled up about it.
There was one in the center today. I don’t know how it got there but if it is due to people pulling them then …wow. Jerks will be jerks. It’s annoying trying to sell stuff or repair and that stupid swords is crippling you. I’m sure someone will say oh but just use your blah blah blah skill and blah blah blah. Thing is, I shouldn’t have to just because someone is being a kitten.
Or his minion. ……….
I think all the materials should be available at each temple. They can just have the armor and jewelry stats vary.
