Well. I would be happy to purchase those episodes I was unable to participate in.
I wouldn’t want to pay for episodes of season one that I completed the meta in. I completed at least 2/3 of season one.
This really appeals to me. I like the look of the UI. I like that I unlock it if I log in during the two week period. I like that if I am out of town and can’t log in during the time period, I can buy it! I like that it is permanent and unlocks for the entire account!
If this works like I think it will, it removes my objections that I had to the previous living story. My main objections were that it put pressure on me to complete things quickly rather than enjoy my time and that it was temporary.
As far as the monetizing goes, I would love to purchase the parts of season 1 I missed because I was out of town or buried under my work.

Okay a tense situation made worse. Trolls, run in and with just enough time to grab gold level reward by dropping the final 2 bosses, at less than 5% or so health, you guessed it. They upscale the event, and well the end result is predictable. Nice huh.. was this planned also? Yes we asked, pleaded, and so on, please go to the middle.. no answer, they kept on attacking. And no it was not a misunderstanding, not when it happens over and over. Is this why some really like this mechanic? They can troll and have their fun, and hide behind the premise of “oh, we didn’t know..”
sigh…
This is where the problem lies. Overall I like the design of requiring us to coordinate, plan, and communicate. However, when all of that can be ruined by a few upscaling a boss at the end or sometimes even one afk autoattacker killing a boss too soon, there is a problem.
Perhaps they could put in a mechanism that the boss can’t upscale once it gets down to 10% health to counter one of the problems. I don’t know what can be done about the afk autoattackers though.
They have to balance appealing and useful home instances versus making the outside world look empty of players because they are all inside there homes or guild halls.
I too wish that the tonic clothes would be turned into proper skins
Question on the bird seed. I’ve seen instructions on the forum to throw it AT the boss and AWAY from the boss. Which is it? And why?
I think they should add the Queen’s gauntlet tickets to the currency wallet.
That way they can stack up there until “spent”.
I heard they are drops from something but at a tiny infinitesimal chance. I too hope they add them to the vendor.
Ah well…looked it up. You get the chances from defeating the champions and I have all the stacks of gauntlet tickets because I don’t participate in gauntlet. So I’m back to nothing to do with them.
(edited by Katz.5143)
So if I turn them into a chance and open the chance I have a token? Seems sort of convoluted. Do I only have a chance at a token? Is it gambling for a token? Or is it a sure thing?
I hope this is a trend. I am not feeling pressured by this event. I like that feeling and I actually play more because it is relaxing instead of stressful like the ones I have to rush to complete.
I would like to be able to trade them for something useful…perhaps using them like festival tokens.
The only way I will get the crafting recipes is if I get absolutely everything else and have tokens left over to spend and nothing to spend them on.
Even better, put everything in the wallet that will be used in reoccurring events.
No one here can accurately answer your question but I will give some advice. If you don’t like the current choices hang on to the tokens until the last week. That way you will have no regrets about spending them and wishing you hadn’t.
It’s encouraging smaller, better-organised, communicative teams rather than zerging the boss.
I think it’s better than just zerging.
Completely agree. When the boss blitz is run right, with good communication, there should only be a max of 10 people on each boss…..and boom boom must go down first……the well run squads always call for the boom boom squad to yell burn.
And this “gtfo the boss” mechanic that people claim exists is from players who still have the zerg mentality, have no idea what they’re doing in the boss blitz, and refuse to listen to the people running the well coordinated bb runs.
I have been super impressed with most of the players that run the well organized boss blitzes…..they always holler out for people to ask questions if they don’t know what to do or haven’t been in successful runs. Even when the run doesn’t go quite as planned, most players there have still tried to communicate with others what went wrong and what needs to change to run it successfully.
The most important thing in the bb is good communication between the squads, and knowing that when your boss gets to 10%, STOP HITTING IT……until the leaders call for “BURN”.
Those people who still complain about the boss blitz because of people who shout ‘stop hitting’ or ’don’t come down here as you’ll buff the boss with your presence’, are either ridiculously stubborn about not abandoning their zerg mentality, or they refuse to listen, or they just are unable to adapt.
Successful boss blitz runs are all about teamwork, good communication, and paying attention to map chat.
But I guess there are some people where that simple concept is just too difficult for them to grasp.
This is right on. If people will follow these instructions it will be a much more pleasant and rewarding experience for all.
Some of the frustrations are when people:
- Pull adds in, scale up the event, and cause a wipe.
- Go on auto-attack and don’t stop hitting when told because they are afk and cause the event to lose a chance at gold. One selfish person can cause an event to lose a level of reward.
- Or when you have one or more people who have a “I don’t care about the experience of anyone else, I have fun annoying and trolling people” and deliberately do things that make the event painful and unfun for everyone else.
A common mistake is when there is one boss left that is close to dying and a bunch of people run over to “help and speed it up”. It seems a bit counter-intuitive but you actually are hurting and slowing things down because it immediately scales up. That “help” may cause the reward to go from gold to silver.
Someone earlier in the thread asked how many times you have to hit the boss to get credit for the overall event. Someone ingame said three times but I don’t know if they were correct, I haven’t tested it myself.
As for commanders, you need 6 tagged up or none at all tagged up. Nothing else is successful.

If you can get an organized crowd pavilion that has people cooperating and willing to work efficiently and effectively, then that will be a good way to go. Once that happened to me and we were getting gold level about every 15 – 20 minutes. It was wonderful.
Most of the time it is not that way and you are looking to finish it with bronze if it finishes at all. If that is what is happening then you can do dolyak races and crystal collection events with running either an aspect arena or sanctum sprint between each of those events.
If you have extra materials, you can trade them in for bags you open many of which will have a modest number of tokens.
I’ve managed to get and spend 4800 worth of tokens by using a combination of the above. (1600 of those were from completing the meta).
I got the slickpack, one helm skin, and the dolyak tonic. I’m saving for the panda now. I have several of the sovereign weapon skins from the previous Queen’s pavilion.
I have the daily achievement bug now. Hopefully it will go away by tomorrow.
Seems to be fixed for us but I’ll keep an eye on it to see if we have the other problems.
I had everything from the living story except the slickpack back item or whatever its called. Even though I got them all through doing the living story steps, I am happy for others to have the opportunity to obtain them. They are just fluffy items for looks and I see no need in not letting others get it. Personally, I hope they continue to have things available in the future.
On the other hand I don’t use mine. I wish I could exchange them for the festival tokens.
They could put the torch run and other such things into the towns. Could even run them monthly, like 1 week a month in each town a different thing. They have the torch run, SAB, possibly other things I forgot.
I came here checking on this…since the patch it only says online or unknown for us also. Before the last patch it worked great.
I’d love to know this as well. I understand event-specific currencies, but I think that after the event they should go into an “Event Collection Bank Tab.” If they don’t become deposit-able after the event, we know to trash em. That’d clear things up nicely.
Great idea.
Why no matter what waypoint I click on in Lions Arch does it always zone me to the same one? Is this a bug?
Is it showing unknown? They may not have been on yet. That’s how it shows for my guild but I know they haven’t been on.
But it says on the history list that people have logged in, activities have been completed, etc. When did they reset it?
…..since new patch
Is this a known bug or did our guild randomly glitch?
Thing is, we can’t control how other people play and we can’t control how many are there or anything else.
While I understand your feelings on the matter, I’ve never been one myself to feel that items should be limited time. I’ve never liked that. I have most of the items already via the LS content.
However they take so many tickets to get even one item, I don’t see many casual players being able to get these.
One of the things that really bugs me about this game is how you have to do the same thing over and over ad nauseum to get fluff appearance items. Meh.
Is there an announcement anywhere about what time today the update happens?
It should be a feature of Rata Sum. A permanent feature. The old rewards should remain (be added back). Once a year a new tab of rewards could be added and the adventures continued.
I would play it and get shiney new stuff at my own pace. Not the rush rush rush pace, but the sloooowww pace I like for most stuff that takes much tokens.
Short terms stuff that has cool items and is rush rush gone is like fast food. ewwww
Permanent stuff that you can savor and slowly accumulate your tokens to get is like home cooked food. Much more satisfying.

Not having them organized would drive me nuts. FIX THAT
^^ this.
I hope you realise you’ve now traumatized a whole internet full of OCD-ers with that harrowing image
CDO – put it in alphabetical order as it should be. :P
I haven’t gotten a crafter to a high enough level to make the whatever you have to make only one a day thing. I’m all for turning them in to rebuild LA.
I’m CST and on Sea of Sorrows. There has always been plenty of people on when I play.
I dont age.. I level up!
Currently level 37 xD
When I complain about an overly challenging day at work, one of my friends reminds me:
When life gets harder you just leveled up.
I have made both Kamohoali’i Kotaki and Kraitkin. I love underwater combat. it’s more dynamic, more challenging, and more (excuse the pun) FLUID in design than above-ground fighting. No, I don’t love UW combat because I made the legendaries…I made the legendaries because I love underwater. But it needs work to be more popular.
There are a few pointed reasons for people disliking underwater combat:
1: There’s not enough of it. People are not accustomed to fighting with a true z-axis that doesn’t just involve Death From Above from a wvw cliff or tower wall. People always tend to be poor at something they have little experience in.
2: Some popular on-land classes have horrible underwater combat skills. Weapon skills for Guardians are underpowered and clunky (Spear wall?) and many utility skills that people rely on in on-land combat are disabled for UW combat (thief much? necro wells much? Krait can obviously ground-target necromancer aoes as seen in the second mob in the Underwater fractal, why can’t I? Because ground-targeting simply doesn’t work for obvious reasons.)
3: Narcissistic people can’t display their cool underwater weapons while afk’ing in cities.
Methods of improving underwater combat:
1: Make ground-targeted utility skills work the same way as demonstrated for engineer grenades. yes, you’ve set that precedent, so there’s no excuse not to.
2: Improve camerawork so when you’re maneuvering around underwater you don’t have things getting in your field of view (I’m looking at you, millions of pillars in HotW P2/3 end boss fights).
3: Have a more intuitive way of sinking oneself just like one can swim upwards by hitting the jump key.
4: Give us opportunities for MORE UNDERWATER COMBAT. The current end-game underwater combat is limited to: Underwater fractal, which is only tier 1, so nobody does it anyway unless they choose to roll for it instead of swamp. Fat chance. And Honor of the Waves paths 2 and 3, which are limited to just the boss battles which have hard-to-avoid one-shot kill hazards which turn players away. The remainder of underwater combat is either open-world nonsense or very small smatterings in various dungeons that can be easily skipped altogether. Bring us Bubbles the dragon, make it permanent content with unique rewards, and make at least half of it underwater-based. Give us alternate paths in dungeons that have significant UW fights. There’s a room in AC that can do exactly that. CoE is located underwater…lost opportunity there. Tons of water in Arah without any serious threat. Players will get more practice, therefore will likely start to enjoy it more, given the caveat of the other suggestions I’ve made being applied.
5: Complete the armor sets. Give us a full complement of aquabreathers of all rarities and stat combos. Dealing with just condi damage masterwork or soldier’s rare is unacceptable. Or just let us keep our on-land helm and remove aquabreathers as a mechanic altogether.
I agree with this post. Underwater combat is underutilized and enjoyable.
I started playing with GW1 and moved on from there to EQ2. I’ve played many others including Anarchy Online and LOTRO. I played at first because my youngest son wanted me to. I play now because I enjoy it and he and I still often play games together. Guess I’ll get more gaming time in a few years from now when I retire.
So recently I was looking through my wardrobe and thinking back at the Living Story History achievement tabs, and I was looking at the items I unlocked during them, things like the Fused Gauntlets, Dragon Helm, etc. A few of these things I had to get rid of because of lack of storage space when switching armors on characters, and because of this, they are lost forever.
I don’t know about everybody else, but I personally believe it is a good idea to automatically unlock these achievement-based skins in the wardrobe. After all, we earned them, why should we lose them forever if we are simply trying to switch skins?
Put in a support ticket. Worst they can do is say no and you are no worse off. If they can help you then good. If not, at least you tried everything.
Basically playing a game is wasting time. We just all like to waste our time in different ways. I can’t say my way of wasting time is the best way, or the only way, or the right way. Its just the way I like to waste time.
Most likely they will instead make it so dungeon armor cant be salvaged either. Besides which, a lot of people consider wvw PvE. And furthermore many people play both PvE and WvW.
Talk to the developers about this. Personally, I wish we could salvage and/or throw everything into the mystic forge. I hated spending all that karma just to get skins and then having to destroy the armor.
When you are leveling crafting, you try and get as much xp as possible through discovering new recipes. In order to do that you have to craft the components needed to make the item. Your goal is to level crafting.
When you sell an item on the trading post it is at the mercy of supply and demand. You can’t sell it for what it would cost in materials most of the time because the demand for the finished item is just not there. People can use armor or weapons they get from adventuring instead of crafted items.
The harvested materials have more value for the most part because people use them to level crafting and not because they use them to craft specific items.
I’ve had 15 drop from forge, 2 from loots. Started out playing the TP early. Made a ton of gold off of ghastly shields and wind/lightning catchers, close to 60k made off of just those 3 items, then there was a lot of money made on other various skins that I thought would go well but no where close to what I reaped from the shields.
Very impressive. Gratz on reaching your goal, I’m sure you have a lot of fun working towards it.
Where are the singing Norn and Hylek?
And I too enjoy the dialog most of the time.
I don’t think the uproar is over which ones they are taking out but just the fact that they are taking things out. Especially now that we have a wardrobe and can actually build to unlock those things. Ones that I would never have considered before, I would like to be able to unlock the skin of someday. Especially all of the wintersday items.
It takes foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to get enough tickets to get those. I hate when they do stuff like this.
My favorite is “this won’t end well” by Trahearne, over and over
I use this one at work now.
Don’t complain too much. People complained about the sylvari in Lion’s Arch saying “More violets, less violence” over and over so they nuked all the npc’s in lions arch.
They said that they want suggestions in the particular area they apply to. So questions that don’t apply to existing areas should be in general. I think it is to help them out with seeing the suggestions that apply to their area of responsibility.
