There are three NPC’s with stars over their heads in Lions Arch near where the Lion Fountain used to be. Talk to them and then you get mail and do what they tell you to do. Currently some of the steps are bugged.
There is a dungeon you can go to from the Asura gate near the Asura that won’t shut up ..Blingg? Its near the consortium area at Fort Mariner, Lions Arch.

I like the story and the hunt for information we are sent on. As soon as the bugs/lag gets sorted, I’m sure it will be great fun.
Personally, I would like for events to be spread out a bit more. As far as I’m concerned the Halloween event could last the entire month of October. That gives everyone time to complete things and when you spend that much time working on content you might as well have it on enough for people to enjoy it.
This event, I would have preferred it last at least a couple of weeks. Most of your players would probably prefer one time things to be on weekends. You could have spread this over 3 Saturdays for example. Then less NA people would miss the start and less Oceanic people would miss the finale. And have LA attacked in waves. Perhaps every couple of hours all day on that first Saturday. That way things could be spread out. You could have had the lighthouse destroyed at the end of the day Saturday.
Wow, that brings back memories. Now I really miss my ritualist from gw1.
Level 20 Third utility skill slot unlocked.
I would expect level 20 was mentioned because something unlocks then, I think its weapon swapping. Certain levels unlock skill slots or traits or whatever and end up being target levels for some of us.
10 more dmg make you more PRO?
0.00001% more crit chance make you more PRO?
getting 4% MF in WvW make you more PRO?
not able to add runes, orbs or sigils to these items make you more PRO?The stats is just ONE problem.
Another one is “Restricted Content” = bad idea (If you have multiple alts, you can see the problem in the long run)BTW : Your argument is a fallacy Ad Hominem
the same “restricted content” was in GW1
to progress more into the story you HAD to infuse your armor
You did not have to grind to infuse your armor. You did it as a side quest in one of the normal missions. If you got new armor, you could easily go back and do the one easy mission to infuse the next armor.
I’ll take a wait and see attitude. But I quit playing my previous MMO because I was sick and tired of gear grind. I’m hoping this isn’t that. I know some people have been begging for gear progression but I sure wasn’t one of them.
I really don’t want gear to quickly become outdated and content that requires the new gear that you have to grind out IN the content that requires it. I really really hate that kind of game.
The daily quest is fine the way it is. Your suggestions would work for the monthly quest though.
I agree that the zones would benefit from more to differentiate them. I would love if there was a unique looking set of armor on the karma vendors for each zone. Unique skin weapons that are specific to a zone that you obtain from a variety of challenging methods. Dungeons that are similar to the ones in GW1 in addition to the current type dungeons.
Hopefully content like this can be added over time through updates.
If your pet is in combat you also get slowed. You haven’t been hit at all. Logic can’t be applied to it. Your pet getting hit doesn’t cause you to have a concussion.
So it isn’t to make the game more “realistic”. They have some reason for it I’m sure, but it isn’t to make the game realistic. So what is the reason for it? Why would the game dev want you to be slowed down while in combat so that you can’t run effectively?
I leave Lion’s Arch at the canal waypoint and work my way across Gendarin killing different types of mobs and harvesting. Sometimes I get a few events there and then enter Queensdale at the beetletun zone in. Usually I can finish anything I have left right around that area.
Waypoint costs discourage exploration. They encourage staying in one area.
Phrases I never want to read again include: Money sink, you’re doing it wrong, and carebear.
I would have never gone in just for the monthly achievement. But I understand what you mean. I was annoyed about it at first too. Then I really got into figuring out how to do it. I even got up at 5 am on a Saturday because that’s the time of day when my server has more of the map. By the end I felt a sense of accomplishment. I helped to take over some of the places where I needed the inside POI and/or vista.
The most fun was when there was a group of us (around 15) circling the map getting all the points needed.
I took the long approach though. I would just check the WvW map to see if it looked doable. And then leave when it got hectic and go do other things. It took me a while that way but really cut down on it being frustrating. Instead of going in and getting the entire map like I do in PvE areas. I would just get part of the map each time.
I’m not arguing against your point here, just trying to suggest ways to make it less painful to do for you.
I actually had fun doing those and joined in some WvW. A guildmate of mine did the same. He never would have gone in just for WvW but found he had fun joining in with some of the groups there.
I understand that many do not like it, but even though I’m more oriented to PvE, it worked to lure me into WvW. That might be their goal.
I would love for them to do something about that area. I plan on only doing what I absolutely have to complete there and staying away from it otherwise. It is so tedious making your way through the map there.
Commander's don't need to show their commander icon outside of WvWvW

I think that they should be able to be used outside of WvWvW. When used properly they can be useful for organizing groups. (I don’t have one but I have participated in events where they were used properly).
I don’t think they should show up inside towns that are not involved in events at all.
The minimap clutter is obnoxious. People should be able to toggle that off.
It would be cool if /ignore would toggle it off. Then if you wanted to be able to view some commanders and not others, you could do so.
as ive said many times before T3 is the equivalent of FoW armor in GW1 . It costs an insane amount and is simply there so the rich have a visual to show off their wealth . It also serves to remove gold from circulation .
I thought it was the legendary armor that was the equivalent of FOW armor. It’s more along the line of the other kind of armor, can’t remember what it was called now, elite?
Like the Vabbian armor and such.
The general consensus is that she is in denial.
Yeah, I’m one of the ones that won’t ever have the cultural armor. You can buy a full set of exotic for less than 1 piece of Tier 3 cultural armor. I’m really happy for the folks that are rolling in gold. No one I know is doing that though. Most are complaining they are strapped for waypoint and armor repair costs.
Reception brawl!!! Sounds fun.
And a lot of parents don’t understand video games. My sons feel lucky their mom plays and understands not to bug them to take out the trash at raid time. :P
Just play without armor on.
Glory is for competitive PVP. It’s purpose is to create prestige for people who are good at killing other players on a level playing field. Activities, on the other hand, are a grab bag of mini-games that shake up the gameplay for a bit. Yes, it’s—**gasp** —fun.
The fact that the glory bar is even displayed is just a side effect of us leveraging our awesome competitive PVP framework to host them. (It is really cool by the way. For example, did you know that you play activities with players from other worlds?)
But now that we’ve got that straight, I’m super interested in learning what you guys think you should be getting out of activities. Trick or treat bags were sort of a trial, but I think it worked out pretty well so we may do similar things in the future. Keg brawl doesn’t have anything like that, but it does have achievements. Would that compel you to play? Something else?
Thanks for your time!
Those events were great fun. Personally, I would like to see Halloween events start at least 2 weeks earlier. I wanted to spend more time in these games but just don’t have enough play time during the week.
Rewards: In general, I like rewards that are useful and don’t take up inventory space. Karma, money, crafting mats that are hard to find come to mind. Minipets would be nice (but make sure there is space in minipet bank for them). You could make them rare and themed to the area. A gamer title is a great idea too. You need lots of titles and achievements we can work towards.

I hate when I type in a long post and then it takes me to the login screen instead of posting it.
So here goes a short version of what I said:
I like OP’s suggestions.
Additional suggestions:
-Make players semi-transparent in clock tower.
-Start the event sooner (give us a week or two longer for it) Why? Because it is fun.
-Bring everything back again! I loved it all.
-Have an additional loot choice on the scavenger hunt so that those that have completed it have something new at the end. Have it repeatable so those that haven’t done it can get both of the loot choices.
-Have some easier way to get to the chest in the Mad King fight. Portal? Or have the fight always end on that platform.
All in all, it was a fun event.
I didn’t make the cauldron either! We should start a guild! “Crap Jumpers Anonymous”! ^.^
Haha! Well I don’t know if we’re succeeding in making the OP feel better, but you’ve made me feel better. So thanks!
I’m in! I have trouble with all jumping puzzles. But I still find them fun.
….(shortened the quote)
The really surprising part is the fact the boyfriend do not play while she does , quite a rare case i believe……
I’ve been playing games for years (gw1, eq2, lotro, etc) but my husband does not. It may be more common than people realize.
I gave up on it but mostly because of limited time and wanting to do the other events. I have no problem with it being one of the Halloween activities. I hope to complete it next year but I’m going to buy a gaming mouse by then to improve my chances of completing it. My current mouse is a jumping puzzle/vista hazard.
And here I was blaming the Mad King for the fears.
I love mini-dungeons. I would love for them to have many of those.
I’ve not seen the bashing but someone did ask the huge norn in our group to remove his armor. He did and then someone else said….ahhhhhhhhh put it back on!!!! Everyone lol’d and we had fun.
I think the suggestion to turn your chat off is best. We have nice mature people playing the game and then we have the opposite type. Nothing we say or do will change immature rude people into mature polite folks.
From what I understand of Anet’s system, waiting for offpeak hours doesn’t affect server capacity. Even if players are offline, they still belong to a particular server.
You can wait for Anet’s guesting system, or have your friend join you in a less populated server(even if temporarily).
No, it is who is on at the moment. I’ve had friends transfer to the server I’m on by waiting until it was a time of day that it isn’t full.
I got some in Metrica Province. Just a few mind you, but some.
Mostly greens, few dyes, a rotten egg, a rare I couldn’t use so I sold it for a few silver, that’s about it.
It’s really a matter of taste as to what looks she likes best. My favorite longbow skins so far are the krytan and the flame.
There was something that flashed up on the screen at the end of the fight but I didn’t manage to read it all. Something about talking to a lionguard.
Does anyone remember what it said?
I’m a completionist and achievement oriented. That empty space in the achievement list taunts me. I bought myself some exotic boots just so the reward wouldn’t taunt me anymore. Now I have 50% less taunting from the event. I think I have enough points in my taunt resistance trait line to avoid being eaten by green goop any more.
I think the main difference is that gw1 was a max level of 20. You could achieve that level pretty rapidly.
Hopefully in the future they will have quests that both start and finish in the lower areas for lower level characters.
I ran into one of those one time. I found that if you moved around you could eventually target the vista. Try walking into, on, around the ballista.
This site might help http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/fashion-gw2/
I think they are for if you break your armor and don’t have enough repair money. That’s the only thing I can think of. Inexpensive armor so you don’t have to run around nekkid.
I think making people ghostly like they do in the lunatic game would work well for this. That fits Halloween too.
Transmuted items are character bound.
On another note, there are many posts about the clock tower and some of them have helpful hints in them such as the above post try it with a taller character first and to not watch your character.
I read another post that said to run close to the tower (to the right) not middle or left.
It would be great if there was a thread that summarized the hints.
My son enjoyed it, spent hours working on it, and by trial and error finally finished it. He didn’t watch a video just figured it out by himself. He likes those kinds of challenges.
Me, I like jumping puzzles but I don’t like timed events combined with jumping puzzles. Separately both things are fine, together spells frustration for me. I plan on watching a video over and over and over trying to memorize what they did.
Then I will try it. If I don’t make it in 30 minutes, I’ll mark it off my to do list and pretend it doesn’t exist. The end reward isn’t fabulous enough for me to endure hours of frustration. I suggest that if you can’t complete it and it is causing you extreme frustration, just pretend it doesn’t exist and tell your gaming buddies to never speak of it again in your presence. Works for me.
Some things can’t be completed with massive numbers of people lagging out the area and blocking the view. If you are standing on flat ground pounding on something, ok, you don’t have to be able to move or see.
If you are trying to do a jumping puzzle you need to be able to move and see.
Hopefully the majority of folks did the puzzle right away and will go do something else now and that will help resolve the issues.
It wasn’t a bad fix, it was an emergency fix. When something’s on fire, you do whatever you can to put out the fire, THEN you repair the damage. The economy (for exotics) was on fire, they had to do something as quickly as possible, and this was probably the easiest.
And that’s assuming they really wanted you to to be able to loot a chest every 20 minutes, because there’s not a single other event that spawns a chest at the end that has a 20-minute quest chain. Not a single jumping puzzle, not a single champion mob, not a single dragon can be farmed every 20 minutes for the same loot.
But then again this isn’t a permanent everyday feature. Once a day for every day of the year is different than once a day for a few days.
I bought the witch costume from the cash shop because I knew, in the end, I would have the witch costume. I don’t like to gamble.
I am enjoying many aspects of the Halloween event. The costume brawl is fun. I like being able to put out a cauldron that others can then use.
I don’t mind having to buy things from the cash shop. I do mind having to gamble via the cash shop to get items. I don’t mind things being rare and the rng limiting whether or not I get something. BUT…I do mind combining the cash shop and rng to be the only way to get some items.
I have spent a decent amount of money in the cash shop getting bank slot unlocks, character slot unlocks, and the one costume. None of which were a gamble as I knew what I was buying. The gambling part is very off putting for me.
sigh Yet again people griefing and exploiting will spoil the fun of people that don’t. I’m sure this will cause a change in the food table and cauldron items that will annoy the people who were not misusing them. And the griefers will simply move on to their next method of messing things up for everyone else.
I hope a solution is found that doesn’t eliminate the fun from the items.
I love the TP. I want it as a permanent weapon. I found one roll of it lying near one of the book spots.
I’ve only been able to get the bags to show up at one spot. They are a bit difficult to get to spawn.
