I get annoyed with the personal story and will leave it off for a long time then go back and try again. My ele is level 80 and only to retribution (level 59 step).

So- first try-the story crashes on me. Submit the crash report and start again.
Second try – the second siege weapon builds right on top of me. I’m stuck and there is no way to get out. Submit the bug report with screenshot and am going to retry again. The sad part is, I’m having no trouble with dying, etc. Off to try again.

My suggestion/request: could you put a waypoint inside the personal story retribution? OR put in some kind of unstuck method that doesn’t require you completely starting over?

It wont happen to me again because I know where not to stand but for future players.

Does anyone know of a really good list of crafted armor by weight, recipe name, and level?

Everytime I try and craft armor for my alts I get frustrated trying to find out which recipe to use for their level. Yes, I can find something near the level, but I would like a list somewhere that gives a complete set of information on it.

You may have been hacked. Check the stickies at the top of this forum for instructions on how to put in a ticket to support. They will look into it.

I haven’t seen anything related to crafting in mentioned plans for updates.

Personally, I’d like the UI to be improved. I’d love to be able to search recipes by level for example. By level plus weight would be even better.

I’d also like for the cooking ingredients to be looked at as far as some that are difficult to get a quantity of. Chili peppers and such.

I also find some tiers hard to get ingredients for and some really easy. For example I have tons of silk and had to buy linen.

Regardless, is there a team working on updates for crafting?

I guess they meant that the bots will harvest, instead of killing mobs. No DR on harvesting, much DR on mobs.

Ok that makes sense. Based on the two recent fixes I understand the problem now and it is specific to guild vault misuse. I’m not sure if it was what you suggest or gold sellers.

Maybe if it is gold sellers that caused it they can follow this up with a fix more like what they did to guild vaults in general if that is possible. The 72 hour wait thing. Actually, I wouldn’t even mind a 2 week wait if it fixed the problem. People buying illegal gold probably don’t want to wait around in a bogus guild for 2 weeks. More likely to get caught at it that way I bet.

If it is gold sellers, perhaps Anet should think outside of the box and figure out a way to do away with gold all together. I think that’s the only way to get rid of gold sellers.

Unfortunately all fixes that punish exploiters, botters, and gold sellers punish the rest of us in some way. This one TBH is minor to me. We didn’t use that feature often, it was just nice to have it there if we wanted to.

It isn’t the specific item that was changed that bothers me, its the way it was changed. Suppose someone figures out how to exploit all the banners? Magic find, karma, etc. Do those get moved out of reach? What about every single guild perk you work towards? Someone, somewhere figures out an exploit so we move them all to a high tier with merits required? Meh, that’s what bothers me. I don’t even care about the guild vault itself.

I despise exploiters, botters, and gold sellers. They ruin the game for us in so many ways. Everyone that was using that in the intended way is now punished for the jerks that exploited it, whatever they did. This basically removed my guild from ever using that item.

Edit: it is an item you can use like guild magic find banners only it opens the guild vault for you. It isn’t that critical, just convenient. If you want to put items in that vault for guild use and to get them out of your bags like you are running dungeons or out doing things away from banks. I don’t know how they were exploiting it. Besides, its against the rules to talk about details of exploit mechanics.

I like 1 and 2.

I check the price on the trading post. Very rarely is it worth listing them to me. Usually I salvage them, save the ectos and save the crafting materials and sell the whatever else I get from it (sigils, etc) on the trading post.

Also do the daily quest. The one that you need 5 out of the 9 tasks listed to complete. These give a nice bit of experience. If there are any other tasks beyond the 5 that you can easily complete you will still get a nice little exp ding for them so they are worth doing on the lower level characters.

Doesn’t the mesmer have to complete the jp to get to the chest to start with? So really, you need a mesmer friend to do all the work, not make a mesmer.

Actually the baubles from the open world chests are despawning too quickly.

Click on the “eye” on the bottom left of your map and see if the world completion has a check mark. If it is unchecked, the tasks are not shown on your map. Perhaps that is it.

Check to see if his rank can invite people to the guild.

Is it in an invisible bag? Or did you add an upgrade to it?

1up but make it a reoccurring town event not a continuous one. I think the bi-yearly is a good idea.

I would like for them to have things like this to do in each town eventually so that you have something to do each month in one of the towns. Currently we now have 5 starter cities and Lions Arch. So they could have events twice a year in each city and that way run an event each month in one city. If they add another starter city with a new playable race, perhaps they could leave Lion’s Arch out of the mix.

Edit: or just leave it in continuously like the keg brawl is now.

I read the first couple of pages then decided to quit reading the debate.

Every game I’ve played have people complaining that that game has people working on the wrong things and should only be focusing on the important things by jiminy.

Oh course, by important they mean the things important to them and the group they hang with.

They do focus on the important things. The important things are many and diverse just like the players of this game. I don’t mind when they focus on things important to you that I could care less about. They will focus on things important to me too.

One thing I would like to see them being given credit for is this: they are releasing some sort of content each month.

We complained that the one time events over strained the servers and were at times that many couldn’t participate and were too compressed and we missed a lot. They now give us time to complete things.

We complained that many were unaware of events going on and couldn’t they communicate better. They put in the listing of the events on the upper right and sent in game mails.

We complained that the cities needed something in them to attract people to them. Mini games, quests, etc. They put one in this month.

Are the items per character? That is would you need to buy purse upgrade for each character or just once for the account?

I’m guessing it is by character but want to be sure.

However, the centaurs took over much of Queensdale in our absence. o.O

This is exactly what the different cities need to make them more active. A different mini game in each city. No pressure. :P

I agree, this is great. I’m even having a blast with the chests out in the world. The mobs that come out of them are too cool!

That depends. The two games are quite different. What you will see in common is the lore. And, if you want, you can get the heritage items that you earn in gw1 to use in gw2. Other than that they are completely different. There is no trading post to sell items. No nodes to harvest, no crafting professions. You should go into gw1 thinking that “this is a different game and I expect it to not be anything like gw2.”

I very much enjoyed GW1 myself.

If I understand the original post correctly, it’s suggesting that players with alts should be able to get more laurels/karma via dailies than players without alts. This strikes me as inherently unfair. The OP tries to work around that by saying that the extra income will be character bound, but it still means that an account with more alts is going to be able to earn more.

While it does cost more to outfit multiple alts, those are one-time expenses. But the increased opportunities for earning from alts never expires: you can leave alts on nodes or JP chests, near world events, farm the same ori ore repeatedly on multiple characters and so on. In short, I think there are already plenty of advantages to playing alts; I don’t think ANet needs to offer any new ones.

I read it that you get one karma jug/per account per day. Same as now. The change is that laurels are 1/character/day but soulbound. The purpose being that you would earn laurels for each character separately, you can’t pool them to use on one character. It would speed up outfitting your alts.

What are the drawbacks to the OP’s suggestion?
One drawback is of course the dyes. In five days you could get 50 or more dyes (depending on the number of characters you have) rather than 10.
I’m sure there might be other drawbacks.

This is a nice suggestion attempt at addressing the desire to gear up your alts faster than 1 laurel per day. I too would like to be able to gear them up faster. You need to address any drawbacks mentioned though with something that offsets them.

Actually that is very complicated. If they are going to add NPC helpers, they can do it in the same manner as GW1.

I think they are just trying to make the game chat not be a juvenile, foul mouthed, drunken bunch of nastiness. Personally I think they are fighting a losing battle because on the whole players either turn off map chat or indulge in proving how nasty they can be.

If someone is logging into your account that makes it an entire other problem. You may have been hacked. You better get support to look into it.

I’ve noticed that prior to the change, odds were that I would get 2 rares per chest. Not always but often. I’m not one to have every character do every chest, but I was trying to get final rest for my necro so my I would try and do SB on my 3 level 80’s as often as I could working towards that. Although I’ve not gotten final rest, I noticed that very often at least one person in the group there would get it.

Moving the the rare to once per day per account in a separate reward chest that pops up on the side is fine but…Now I get the one rare per day per chest on the little popup chest. I no longer get anything but blues and sometimes a green from the boss chests. I’ve not seen final rest drop for any of the groups I’ve done SB with since then. I’ve only seen people linking greens and mostly blues. No rares from boss chests, no exotics. No final rest.

The boss chests seem to be like they were before loot was made better. You can say it’s rng BUT the contrast before loot was made better compared to after loot was made better compared to moving the rare to one popup chest/boss/day/account is dramatic.

I had hope of getting final rest eventually. Now I fear that the drop rate of final rest is what it was before the loot improvement update. Basically, zero or near that. Am I wrong?

And….more on topic…..why shouldn’t someone at level fighting the shadow behemoth be able to get a rare? It isn’t like you can salvage ectos from a <40 rare. I don’t understand the rationale for that. I don’t know what the exploit was though so there is probably some good reason for it that I just don’t know.

While the guild names that I’ve seen posted that got deleted were obviously offensive and I would never use them, I’ve seen some character names posted here that I had no idea were offensive. Sorry but my family doesn’t use those words and I don’t go around trying to find out what they mean.

That said, how do any of us know that some word in our guild name isn’t offensive to some person some where in the entire world in some language?

For example, someone in a guild I was in (Guild Wars 1) said they were going to take a break and smoke a cigarette. Only they phrased it in the slang of their country and the guild went ballistic….WHAT DID YOU SAY????!!!! The person was confused. Then we found out the slang word for cigarettes in their country meant something very different in our country. How do we all know that something we think is unoffensive and a bit clever isn’t something that will get your guild banned?

Personally, I would like for it to be set up that we can have our guild names checked and either cleared or told no, that isn’t allowed so that we can clear out our guild banks and not upgrade and get a “cleared name” to build a guild.

Perhaps I am overly concerned here but I’ve never been one of those persons who said, oh that would never happen to me. Murphy’s Law.

I’m ignoring the names of any guilds that get deleted and looking only at the logistics of handling guild names:

Players with offensive names get to rename their characters. I think that given the impact this can have on multiple people contributing to the building of guild via influence and upgrades, it would be good if guilds were also required to be renamed. Barring that, at the very least give them warning to remove all items from their guild banks.

I don’t see why it is a problem. They are easy to kill or get away from. Is there something that I’m unaware of that makes this is a problem?

I’ve not seen any mention of this as being on their agenda at all. I have little hope of it happening. However, I do think it would extend the interest of the game for those of us who like variety in our armor. I don’t like looking the same all the time but I don’t have the space to save armor just for looks.

I think different things will bring different people to cities. The idea of sharing the map chat of the cities is interesting. Perhaps they could add a “city chat” that had shared chat. It might help ease some congestion in Lion’s Arch.

As for the cities, there have been a few threads with excellent suggestions for those. I do think that both activities and events should be added to them. Housing would help. Perhaps locate guild halls within the cities. The suggestion about adding the city activities to the daily might also help. In the taverns, add a little more npc atmosphere. Brawls, card games, etc.

Its a bug and they will fix it. Given the visibility of the problem, I’m sure it will be fixed soon.

I have friends who love underwater play and friends who hate it.

I’m in between. I don’t avoid it in fact I’m fine with it. I have trouble with the disorientation I have underwater though. On land if you see your groups dots, you in general know where they are, underwater they could be above you or below you and its harder to keep up with where they are.

I would like for the underwater play to be expanded at some point and when it is something added to indicate if your group is above or below you. For now, I’d like them to get the on land stuff added that they are working on.

I would prefer more armor skins from gw1 than more town clothes. Also, I sure wish I could use the medium armor skin on my little asura necro, it looks great in preview but alas, it will only work on medium armor wearers. I don’t want it on my medium armor wearers.

I’d like you to consider not restricting them so much according to weight. The light armor skin would look great on a thief. The medium on a necro. Just my 2 cents.

Additionally, I would buy the pirate town clothes if they were armor skins. In fact I would buy for both my asura and my charr. The same for the cook outfit on my sylvari (minus the hat). It looks leafy on sylvari.

Unless we are given a reason to hang around in town in town clothes, I am deterred from buying them. My only motivation now to get non-armor skin clothes is for costume brawling while waiting for groups to form, dragons to spawn, or the daily task.

Although I would love to have the trade window back, (for example when you get loot at an event and people want to trade items with each other), I think that botters and gold sellers have ruined that for us.

First of all, the camera angle is not straight on, its looking from the ground up. You know the kind of picture that makes peoples nostrils look grand canyon size?

Second, if they used the same character creation selections that we have available to us to create the characters then there could already be characters in game that look similar.

With dungeons, it depends on which dungeon/path and what the other group members are bringing. For example, in some dungeon paths you would be better with two elementalists in your group, for some dungeons you would really want a mesmer along.

Personal preferences that you have will come into play, but if it were me, I would chose to level a mesmer first. Not only due to their usefulness, but because they have skills that are entertaining and fun to use. And actually that’s what I did, my mesmer is 80, my necro is being leveled now and is in the 50’s.

I suggest that once you get a new leader that you create a rank below guild leader that can manage the guild in case the leader or leaders are gone. In my guild we have a rank below the guild leader with trusted people in it that can all start and activate upgrades, invite members, etc.

I leveled my mesmer first and now am leveling my necro. To be honest, both have been fun. I find the necro easier to play at lower levels than the mesmer was. Once I unlocked all the mesmer traits and skills, she is easy to play.

It would help if you would say where you want to play them. PvE? WvW? sPvP? Dungeons? I have ones I prefer for different places.

Don’t you get diminishing returns eventually?

There are often boulders in the air there. I wonder if people throw the ones from the ground at the elementals and then the boulder gets “stuck” in the air.
