Ok, I haven’t played my necro in a few weeks and decided to try adjusting different things on the sound controls to see if I could get rid of that repetitive sound. Only she wasn’t making the fighting sound. So question … is it just made with some weapons (staff for example as she has a wand at the moment) or did they do something about it? If it is just made from the staff I’ll go wand spec from now on.

You could add something to your name such as a middle initial or vary it in some way.

You can have first and last names too.

I’m saving them for next year.

Though, I’m ashamed to admit I don’t know how to make the PvP Toymaker’s Bag do something.

Go into the mists pvp lobby and then equip the pvp bag. It will then be out of your storage and on your character when/if you do sPvP.

Overall I liked each activity and participated in each activity. I’ve completed all the event achievements but the snowball pvp one. I’ve played that one just haven’t managed to get either of the achievements yet. I think that it is a really good event.

I didn’t feel pressed for time. I think that the activities and length of time they are available is good.

I love that they have 5 minipets. It became apparent that there is one for each race and I’ve matched them up as following: golem = asura, soldier = charr, ventari = sylvari, princess doll = human, and griffin = norn.

The only thing I don’t like is the rng part of the mystic forge and the presents that you buy in the gem store for minipets and other things. I’m sure some people like that but I’ve never liked to gamble, it seems like a total waste of material. I don’t mind doing it with outleveled soulbound items that I can’t sell or salvage.

I would love to have an everlasting tonic of some of the minipets but I’m not going to gamble for them. That is personal preference though. I’m sure some folks get a thrill out of getting items that way.

Oh and a suggestion for next years wintersday – I loved that the mini-dungeon went from town to town before stopping in LA. However, it would be cool if each of the main towns had some activity that stayed associated with the town. Maybe even a few activities. I’m somewhat ambivalent about that though because it is nice having everyone concentrated in LA to maximize groups for activities.

I like the idea and the book idea for later. Gives you something to work towards.

Good advice in that post. Basically, I did it by finishing my mapping of Lornar’s Pass, completing the daily achievement, and then killing mobs and doing events until it completed. You can’t zone or log off or it resets and you have to start over. When you kill mobs keep on the move as you get bonus experience for not killing in the same area. If you see the bonus experience start decreasing just move on to a different area in the same map (no zoning!!).

I assumed that it was the result of people freeing up bag space when they are no where near a vendor. The 1 copper they list it for about the vendor price means they lose less money than they would if they listed it higher. Then they can unlist it and vendor it or just try and sell it on the tp.

I’m not sure why people leave those items on the trading post though, surely not that many are of the same item are going on the tp rapidly.

I would like for them to either change or add to the personal story.

The first part where you are actually working on parts that deal with your character choices and interact with your life long friend could be expanded and separated from the destiny’s edge story. Have the personal story remain personal. It would have you do many things in and around your home city. You would get to know the stories of many people and would make your home city and surrounding area more interesting.

The rest of the story, the destiny’s edge part, could be more of repeatable group mission type stories. Much like the missions in gw1.

I got the achievement finally. Luckily I checked it just before I was going to zone out of Lornar’s Pass after completing the mapping. Now that it is done I’m going to say that I still don’t like the fact that you have to complete it on one map with no zoning and no logging out. I understand why you are doing that, you don’t want people “cheating death” but I’m not crazy about how it was implemented. At the very least you need a way to show progress once it resets back to zero.

This has been irking me for quite some time but it seems like most people no longer rez each other. I see it all the time during dynamic events where I’m basically the only person willing to rez a downed friendly while people are stepping over the downed and if I happen to go down I’m basically dead. If it’s WvW people are much more willing to run than hold the line and rez their allies. There have been occasions while leveling an alt where people purposely stand over me and spam laugh while they watch me die and I can’t help but feel like our community is just going down the hill as more immature kiddies start playing this game.

Well, often it is quicker to help the downed person kill a mob so that they can rally. That way you both are more likely to survive. When I am downed and killing a mob. I’d rather the person help me kill the mob so that I rally and use my heal. That’s better than them being tied up healing me while their health goes down. That may cause both of us to die.

This may not apply to the situation that you are mentioning though. Especially if they are acting like jerks about it.

The first time I tried it I didn’t get a single note and left quickly. I tried it again today and once I got to start from the beginning and played for a while I got much better and got both achievements. Plus I had a lot of fun with it.

I’d love a permanent mini game like this year round.

Save it until you see if there is anything else that shows up also.

I just wanted to “pop” in and say that I understand how important this is to you all, and I agree that the slingshot sounds really cool when it’s fired. Unfortunately, the root of the issue is not just a mere oversight but rather a technical issue that has to do with the differences between these two weapon types. When we discovered the issue we made the determination that it was better to have the pop gun without the pop sound than not have it all.

In this case, I’m sure we want to solve this problem for other cases in the future so I would say chances are very good that this will be fixed. I just can’t say exactly when it will be fixed though. It probably won’t happen before the holiday is over.

I can fight them easier in the higher level zones than lower level ones. I think they don’t scale down well. Lornar’s Pass upwards in level works about right for me. I haven’t tried them since the golems were added but I can solo the rest of them with my ranger.

1) Lay down 3 traps on the present
2) Hit rampage as one elite for stability
3) Open present
4) Barrage
5) Switch to shortbow

I’m using the wolf and the bear pets. Before I started using the stability I had a lot of trouble with the princess dolls. It seems using that and staying close in and getting the damage going right away made the difference. If I forget to hit my stability, I have to run from the dolls and then either try and pick them off one by one or just let them despawn.

This could be fixed by either allowing a designated leader who makes sure not to leave or just having everyone leave the party and no one forced out.

I actually had no idea that if the leader leaves, it kicks everyone out. Fortunately, I’ve never been the party leader.

Then again, there have been several times were I was the last person in the dungeon and I never got kicked….

It’s possible that you were the leader. If you were the first person to enter the dungeon you are considered the leader.

I posted about this earlier. It’s happened to my group more than once also. Basically what do we do? Abandon the Toxx fight and run stand by the chest area?

The “leader” is the owner of the dungeon, and the owner of the dungeon is the first person to get inside / start the dungeon.

Well at least that explains that. I wanted to be leader of the group because I always check to see who needs the chest still or smash the town. The people zoning you out might not even know that they are messing people up.

I tried starting the group but sometimes for some reason someone else ends up as leader. People are zoning folks out before they can get the chest or do smash the town. I got my chest and have done smash the town but one person in the group didn’t get the chest and two wanted to do smash the town.

You should leave people in the zone until they elect to leave. And you should be able to designate who is the leader and let it stay that way.

I want a princess army.

You shouldn’t be kicked from a holiday dungeon just because the leader leaves.

I didn’t have trouble with any but the Princess Dolls. The others are doable, sometimes challenging, but doable. I love the charr soldiers.

O.o I didn’t even notice anything was wrong. We killed everything as we went and did ok. Although we were moving fast and it was a bit frantic.

It would be better if they would allow chat in all guilds as well as rep to more than 1 at a time.

Small family & friend guilds need the rep more than large guilds and by letting the rep go to at least 2 guilds at a time, you would eliminate some of the problem. I’m only in one guild right now because I am the guild leader of a small family & friends guild. If I could see the chat and represent 2 guilds at a time I would join a larger guild and play there when my friends & family aren’t on, which is most of the time.

I guess in all those games I played that didn’t have this ability and had dead lifeless guilds because everyone wants to start their own guild don’t count?

That isn’t causing the problem. It’s just a problem with guilds no matter what.

Is anyone else having problems with the game freezing up on them on the princess dolls? It’s happening to me over and over. The skritt and ventari are fine but 9 times out of 10 my game freezes while fighting the princess dolls.

Wow. Why was this changed? I preview armor to see if I want another character to have it for looks before selling it. I don’t like this change.

Oddly, the princess dolls freeze my game up. I have to x out or I just stare at a frozen screen. Not sure what’s going on. I don’t have that problem with the skritt or ventari.

Edit: Well the princess dolls have caused my game to lag out 3 times in a row now. Think I’ll skip the presents for now. Is anyone else having that problem?

Found out it was just the zone or perhaps the game disconnecting. Thought it was those evil dolls. :P

While I understand that you can run, hide, remove condition, and pick them off one by one…. I have found this to be unproductive. If you take too long the present despawns and they aren’t dropping that much themselves. So the Princess dolls are a waste of time to me. The skritt and ventari aren’t too difficult for me to kill with my level 80.

I’m not sure the Princess dolls are scaling down very well.

I would suggest that you have the presents persist much longer to give time to mop up the dolls and any other mobs in the area before they despawn.

Edit: Ok, I tried the grab the present and run tactic. I got the dolls to separate a little and gradually got the lot of them. I suggest that you take out all mobs in the area first just so you don’t end up with them as well as the dolls.

We had trouble with one house looking like a rock. Finally found it.

I would suggest that you play each at first as you have multiple character slots. They are both good but play very differently. You should be able to tell pretty soon which of the two you prefer.

Yes, they can do both. I’d suggest you try one out and see how you like it. He really is enjoying his. And they have medium armor which is really nice. You will have 4 more slots to use to make alts and can play around with different classes to see which you like best.

Edit: By the way, my mains in GW1 were my ranger and my ritualist.

I think the overview of classes given is right on target.

As for race, I would just look through your choices in looks at the beginning and make one that appeals to you. I matched professions with looks. My warrior is a charr (I also considered norn for that, (I think if I was a guy making male characters I would have gone with norn as they look incredible). I went with sylvari for ranger, human for ele (again if I were making a male character I probably would have gone with a different race for ele), asura for necro, sylvari for mesmer, and norn for engineer. I haven’t decided on what my thief and guardian will be, but I have human place holders currently for them. I’d remake ones right away that you don’t like as once you invest time in them it is more annoying to restart.

My friend who strictly played a ritualist in GW1 said that the engineer is the closest in his opinion. There isn’t a class that is exactly like a ritualist.

Rangers are fun. My level 80 is a ranger.
I’ll only touch on a few of your questions that I will answer differently.

You can go into options and change your keybinds.
I use 1 through 4 for skills 1 through 4 on my skillbar and then use C for skill 5 as I find it easier to reach than the number 5 in the top row. I use Q, E, and R for skills 7, 8, and 9 as I use WASD to move and those are easy to reach with my hand there. I have skill 6 (the heal) and skill 10 (the elite) and the dodge-roll on my mouse. So basically you can configure your keys to be more convenient.

Bosses:
Veterans are more challenging to kill than regular mobs so keep an eye out for them. Most but not all Champions you need a group to take on. The safest thing to assume is that you need a group when you see a champion. Other than that it varies with the specific species you are dealing with or even the specific boss. You automatically down level to the content. As an example, there is a champion centaur that you can sometimes find in Ascalon settlement that is very easily taken down with just a few players. There is a solo giant that can be found in a town (don’t remember the name) in the charr area that is much more challenging to take down.

I do think that they should have made it so you can’t purchase soulbound armor that you can’t use rather than not preview it.

Put the minipet in your bank. The mystic wolf is on all characters you make so no problem with it.
