I’d like that change. When you are in a challenging fight, the tendency is to dodge roll out of all circles. The only one I consistently recognize is the ranger aoe heal. Anything necro that is helpful, I don’t benefit from because I don’t take time to look for the red versus white thin line. If you hesitate and its enemy, you could die from the conditions.

I’ve noticed most people run/dodge away from the healing rain spell from my ele . I’ve resorted to using it mostly on myself so that folks aren’t wasting their dodge roll on avoiding it. Whereas when I’m playing my ranger, people will stand in the ranger aoe heal. There is obviously a difference in ease of recognition between these spells.

The green circle would be a good indicator that it is a heal. However, what about color blind people?

I agree with your suggestions. Additionally, I don’t like that the first person in the instance controls whether the entire group stays in the instance. It should be the person who starts the group or else someone who is “voted” the leader. The last person invited to a group can end up being designated the leader. That is a bad mechanism.

I too would welcome if the risen in orr were not all lumped into a risen undead group.
Perhaps originally they meant for the giants there to count as giants.

This is actually a good thing. It will inspire people to be better in dungeons. You don’t need a guild, you just need a brain and the ability to learn from mistakes. Knowing how to play your class is also encouraged.

There are millions of people who play this game. I can, as an individual, get better but unless I have a group to always play with, I can’t make the other million people be better.

The gist of this change is, stop playing with pugs. That will make the game unfriendly for new players. Let’s face it, until you meet a lot of people, you play with pugs or you solo.

Those who say, its better cause it makes it a challenge, now people can’t rez rush. Can’t you play with a group that doesn’t rez rush? If your group was rez rushing, either you were also playing in a pug or you were choosing to play with a bad group.

Well, what is done is done. For everyone who hates the change you will find those who like it. I just wish they had found something less annoying to do to fix the problem.

Combat has always disabled map travel via waypoints.

Not when you are dead. Other peoples combat didn’t stop you from waypointing did it? I don’t recall that being the case but maybe I’m wrong.

If you mean that when waypoints are “contested” they can’t be used, the ones in the dungeon don’t have a “x” on them indicating that they are contestable or are out of use because they are contested at that moment.

Personally, I don’t like the change. We had a person who accidently dodge rolled then died to a part of the airship we couldn’t reach in Arah. She had to stay there bored while four of us fought. If she hadn’t been out of reach we could of rezzed her. If she could have waypointed, she could have gotten back to having fun instead of snoozing from boredom.

I know you have good intentions, but yesterday I watched people have to lie there bored watching others fight and I had to suicide my toon more than once so everyone else could rez.

I hate mechanics that cause a group to say, “die already so we can play too.” I always hated raids that were like that. “Wipe so we can reset” is aggravating.

As for the “don’t play with people you don’t know” answer, does anyone here really think that the goal of ANET was to stop us from playing with people we don’t know?

Seriously, every dungeon group I got in yesterday, the first thing I asked was, does anyone know this dungeon fight? The answers were either, “no, first time here” or “I did it once long ago but don’t remember.” But they were all good players and we had a lot of fun.

Plus if a game is active in all areas of the world then it encourages players to keep playing. Nothing is more boring than an empty game.

I think that 8 classes need 8 races to balance out. I’d love from them to add more classes later.

Skritt, Kodan, and Tengu would be my choices to add to the 5 we have.

I like this idea. I would even say add both a skill set and trait set. I’ve maxed traits and skills on my level 80s. This would give me something else to work towards.

I dislike a mechanism that punishes the players who do stay alive. If you are alive and cannot rez the ones who are down and cannot take the mob down by yourself then you have to suicide to continue. If the system only punished the ones who died, then great. It punishes the ones alive more in my opinion. It grates on my nerves to have to suicide so the group can all rez.

I would buy the pirate armor for my asura if she could wear it all the time.

I think that this would just make it harder on everyone. Commanders would turn off the flag and then it will take more time to find who you are supposed to be following/assisting.

WvW = mix of both. Mobs to fight, NPCs to fight, Vistas, POIs, Jumping Puzzles, Events, Players to fight. Never will we agree if it is PvP or PvE because it is both.

Well, if NPC kills in WvW counted toward the monthly then, personally, I would have a lot less issue with it. I can avoid other players long enough to manage that much. I’d still rather I didn’t have to go into WvW at all, but if we’re going to categorize WvW as being both then both PvP and PvE kills should count.

Actually, that’s a good idea. Expand the kills to include the opposing side NPCs.

I disagree. I like them being account bound. I want to save laurels and karma and then use them when I make up my mind where I want to use them.

Additionally, some things are put into game with the intention of occupying us for the long term.

The OP is expressing frustration at not being able to obtain the needed materials for crafting. I can relate to that having had to do that leveling my tailor and my cook.

Cotton and to a lesser extent wool were the worst ever cloths for me to obtain. I had jute, linen, etc out the wazoo. The same problem occurs with vanilla and some other cooking ingredients.

I resorted to buying ingredients when I had to but it grated on my nerves. I wanted to obtain them by harvesting and questing, not by purchasing.

I’m not sure why the bad run from mobs unless it was a case of diminishing returns from having been in the same area recently or just perhaps a bad time with rng.

I use the slingshot skin for my shortbow for fun but I absolutely do not want the rainbow unicorn for my ranger. I’m ok with other people using them but my ranger ..no.

If my ranger was an asura, it would be ok. But my ranger is a sylvari and it just doesn’t fit her.

What I hope is that they have an array of legendary skins to use and we all have a choice. So far I like the Krytan skin and the flame skins the best and I can get those as drops in low levels and transmute my max level bows. I look at the looks of the legendary bows and their effects and I’m not attracted to them. I hope in the future there will be some that appeal to my taste in bows.

I like the idea of monthlies giving players a reason to do something they normally wouldn’t bother with.

My ideas for monthly objectives:
Complete 5 different events in 10 different zones.
Kill 5 commanders in WvW. (On second thought…this is cruel in a lot of ways.)
Kill 100 enemies without taking damage.
Kill 50 champions.
Obtain 5 levels on 4 different classes.
Kill 1000 enemies in a party of 5 players.
Interrupt 200 enemy attacks.
Buy 800 gems worth of items from the Gem Store. (This would just be to see the forums explode.)

Kill 5 commanders in WvW – I can think of a few I wouldn’t mind zerging for the achievement….. mr. all caps, contradict everyone else, illogical, nonsensical instructions commander, I’m looking at you…….oh wait, you meant on the opposing teams.

Personally, I enjoy WvW but some people have a complete abhorrence to PvP. I used to be one of those, so I understand the hate for being “forced” into doing PvP. I now understand the challenge and unpredictability of PvP that makes it exciting.

I’d love it if they added one more monthly category and have WvW monthly with several WvW tasks to complete. They would just need to carefully make it doable for all in WvW. Neither requiring you to be the underdog or top dog to be able to complete it. This would add variety to the monthly choices.

I would love for the monthly choices to have additional rewards also. For example, all could have laurels as a reward but in addition, WvW could add the badges, PvP could add something (glory?), PvE could have both karma and laurels.

I’m not sure about the best exact rewards, but have each category reward something that helps overall and something that helps for that specific category.

I think that it comes down to attitude. Some people like variety. Some people like familiarity.

Personally, I like variety. I’ve found all of the tasks easy to complete. I actually complete the daily more quickly now.

I think it helps to look at the game from the viewpoint of it being a game for many people rather than a game for ME. I know that other people play and the developers cannot and should not tailor the game specifically for just me. Having dodge as one of the choices will help new players learn the mechanic. Having crafting there may introduce crafting to new players.

Having WvW and Fractals in the monthly got me started spending time in both places. Now I am enjoying both. Additionally, fractals got me to doing other dungeons. I had been mainly sticking to mapping and DE’s and was “putting off” dungeons.

If their purpose is to get people to try new things, it worked on me.

The first available content for this isn’t a quick event that is at a specific time. You haven’t missed anything. It is more along the lines of carving the pumpkins or making snowmen type achievement. It is there, it is available, and you can participate.

Is there any news anywhere on this? The game is unplayable for me at the moment.

They could just list your guilds like they list the different types of chat and let each person decide. I would like all guild chat in one window myself. it could be as simple as having the guildtag next to each persons name when they chat.

I am part of 3 guilds,
My own guild which is not large at all but we have our few supporter’s and about a 52 guild roster and only 8 or so that represent. You see the non represents are not hurting my guild they are not even affecting me, once a month I go through and see who has not been representing and remove them. How is this a problem?

My other guild is a WvWvW guild I play with twice a week, they know I only represent them twice a week, I do it when I go WvWvW. They have no issues with it everythign I do for them in WvWvW supports them, they are a WvWvW only guild 90% of them leveled in WvWvW.

The last guild I am in is a PvP, more accurate a Tourny guild. I only represent them on Saturday nights, or when ever my team is signed up to play. In fact most of the guild only represents when they are doing tourny’s. We all have our other guilds we do other things in.

The ideal of Multiple guilds is great it allows us as players to be in guilds that center focus in areas that some guilds try but are not strong in, because they are trying to PvP, WvWvW, and PvE. So because your not either
A.) Smart enough to filter your guilds dead weight
B.) Trying to do everything ( which seldom works well )
You want to remove a function that works great for the people that understand how it is intended on working.

My personal guild doesn’t have the be the best top guild, I really don’t care about that. So long as My friends and people I have meet can jump on do dungeons, fractals, Events, karma runs, and or Jumping Puzzles together on a consistent basis and I am having fun I don’t care. People in my personal guild have realized this and understand this, nightly we have any where form 5 to 8 people on at any given time from 1pm PST to around 2Am PST.

To me this is the best and perhaps intended use of being in multiple guilds.

Personally, I’m only in one because I’m guild leader and I want to build amenities with my influence. I would actually be in another guild of friends also if I could see and participate in their chat and still earn influence for my main guild. They don’t need my influence, they have plenty. They would be happy with participation.

Participation I could give at times, influence I want to keep. I wish there was a way to solve this. Having an alt in their guild doesn’t help as I tend to concentrate on one character at a time. I wish there was a solution for this problem.

However, if I do in the future join other guilds, it will be in a similar manner to the posted quote.

They already said they plan on having housing and guild halls eventually. I’m sure they have a prioritized list of things that they are working on. We will have housing and guild halls when they become higher on the priority list.

Meanwhile, suggestions on what we would like might influence the what the housing and guild halls are like both in location, function, and cosmetics.

Guild Halls:

I would like guild halls to be designed to enhance the community of the guild. Obviously they need to be cosmetically appealing and have amenities to make them a worthwhile investment of resources. I would prefer that they not be out of the reach of small guilds. Perhaps there could be tiers of halls much like the guild bank.

Housing:

I don’t want a static home that you cannot personalize. I don’t know that you can achieve the level of housing that EQ2 has developed, but that type housing is achieves a long term commitment to your house with an investment of both time and resources. You would have to add a carpenter crafting profession, or better yet, add recipes to each profession to support this.

I find the housing in many other games to be boring and lost interest in it immediately. For example the housing in Aion and Lotro were not worth paying the rent to me.

My thought on housing is, either make it great and creative and something you want to spend time adding to or don’t bother with it at all. Mediocre player housing just won’t keep peoples interest.

1. The Community

I realize that the ability to join multiple guilds is not universally liked, but restricting peoples accounts to one guild is not that common in games either. Many have where each character you have can belong to a different guild. This feature is one of the ones my group liked from the beginning. You can have your friends and family small guild, and your dungeon running guild, etc. I think the addition of chat options would help (click the guilds whose chat you want to see, for example) and guild halls will improve the community aspect.

2. Scaling

I do find lower levels easier than they were when I was at level in the zone. Armor, weapons, maxed skill points and trait points should all make a difference.

3. Items

I do think items of different types should be available to keep players interest up. However, they are trying to walk a fine line between satisfying people who want that sense of acquiring a great item versus creating a gear grind treadmill that is tedious.

4. PVP

I played on a PvP server in WoW some, though I never enjoyed WoW enough to stay on it long. I understand what you mean. I went from absolutely hating that open world pvp to feeling the excitement of the feeling of constant danger from unpredictable other players. You learn to predict mob behavior. Adding in the open world pvp changes all that.

However, they have a limited amount of time to spend on the game. Having open world pvp servers would require a huge time investment to be done right.

Some games have a pvp server or two that languish due to developers not having time to devote to both pve and pvp servers. I think that open world pvp is best left to other games unless they have the resources to handle it along with everything else in the game.

If we didn’t have level scaling, the lower level zones would quickly become empty. As it is, if a friend is in a lower level and asks me to zone them for mapping, I can do so with ease. All in all it works well. Additionally it makes it feel more like a world and less like a game. In my opinion, its as close as you can get to not having levels in a game without actually doing it.

All it needs is tweaks here and there when you have mobs that are significantly over the level you are scaled to.

I like JPs, I just hate deadlines. Too many of those at work. :P

But just having to go to the entrance solved the deadline problem.

Harvesting and rezzing other players also gives exp.

What is the approximate average time it takes to complete a fractal run?

Can you “rediscover” a JP or is someone who has discovered them already blocked from completing the monthly? How many do you have to discover? 30? The first of the 3 tiers is 10. Someone said that you only have to go to the entrance of the puzzle to get credit… is that correct?

For fractals…do you have to complete 7 different levels to get credit for the 7 or do you have to just do a fractal dungeon 7 times? (So you could complete level 1 for example 7 times.)

For the monthly:

What happens if someone has already discovered them? Do you get credit for discovering them again or is that person locked out of doing the monthly?

How many do you have to discover? It says it is 4 tiers for the monthly and tier 1 is 10 puzzles? Do you have to find 40 of them?

I look forward to the changes.

The events and most skill points take people to complete and there just aren’t enough there now to realistically do them.

The waypoints are constantly contested. If you free one up you would have to just park yourself there to keep it free as it will become contested again seconds after you leave.

Many suggestions have been made for modifications to Orr, I’ll repeat some of them here.

Tone down the mobs, there are too many, they respawn too quickly, and they have the most annoying skills ever.

Toughen up the NPC’s enough to retake the waypoints. It’s so annoying to have to run from the Rally waypoint if you die. It makes it hard to stay with a group if you are lucky enough for one to form there.

Make it more rewarding to be there. With my first 80 it was easy to run with the pack in Orr and get my karma armor. Now with my recent alt, I’m pretty sure karma armor is out, she has the karma but the place is dead.

You can get the keys as drops from mobs and as rewards for map completion. I haven’t gotten many that way but enough to get some decent items from the chests. I’ve saved my unopened chests in one stack in the bank to open when I get keys.

One of your chat windows should show your loot. Check to make sure you have a window set up to see loot.

Open your “H” window and you should see where your weapons go. There is a place for the underwater weapon under where the harvesting tools are located. You only use that weapon underwater. You can also see where your other weapons go in that window.

Events and daily achievements will earn you karma jugs. Save them in stacks and then use karma boosters to consume them at once while under the boosts.

The harder part will be getting the vendor up. I am trying to get the armor, I have the karma, but I can’t solo the events needed to get the vendor up. I think everyone that used to be in Orr is in fractals.

Sometimes you get stuck in combat even when you are not still fighting anything and you have to log out and back in to break the combat. I have to do that at vista’s sometimes.

Is that the one in a cave? If it is, it worked for me once when we killed everything in the cave then went around and clicked on some things that were near the front side of the cave. It is a bit unclear as to what you have to do and there is a fast respawn rate.

I would make a skritt thief right away. I’ve been wanting to have a skritt character since the first time I saw and heard them.

The mini dungeons and games were fun but had trouble finding a group for the mini dungeons towards the end of it. Loved the mini’s that we crafted. Loved the weapon skins.

Don’t like rng items, never had, never will.

The presents were not hard for my ranger in mid to upper level zones. The were pretty difficult for my light armor characters in low level areas.

All in all, I enjoyed it. I would like to have more things earned, not rng (mini’s from store presents, the everlasting tonics from the forge). Also, would have liked another way to get glue and stuffing that was more productive.

I would like to see quests for Wintersday also.

All in all I’ll give it between 1 and 2.

I think that waypoints cost high enough to annoy you by adding insult to injury when you are broke but not enough to be a gold sink. Its a bit of a silver sink. I wish they would lower them to the level 30ish cost and leave them there.

I know the drop rates of some items were adjusted and some items were removed from the karma vendors. I’d like for those items to be revisited.

Chocolate was dropped from way too high to too low of a drop rate. Vanilla beans, many peppers, sage, dill, other items are annoying to gather/find.

Yet mushrooms, onions, carrots, and peppercorns are found in massive amounts. I don’t want to make these items scarce but I would like it to be a bit more balanced.

I’m sure there are reasons for the disparity between the items. But why not get creative and come up with ways for people to have more of some of the items?
Could you perhaps change our home district so that we have a house and garden there? Perhaps we could plant a herb garden or vegetable patch?

Just a thought.

Stored the cogs and frames leftover in the bank. Stored the weapon skins in the bank. Used or sold the ugly clothes.

I thought I deserved a bump after an interesting development!

I had the same problem with Funcom’s The Secret World. I contacted them through email, I heard from the next morning, and we resolved the issue with another payment option in UNDER 24 hours! That’s some customer service!

So, several months later, I’m wondering. Did this payment ever go through? Did it ever process? I haven’t recieved an email about it.

I had the opposite experience with The Secret World. My credit card company thought they were some fraudulent group and wouldn’t let the charge go through so Funcom permabanned my secret world account. So its the luck of the draw. Sometimes you get a good customer service person and sometimes you don’t. Since then I use paypal when its allowed by a company because it just seems less risky.

I had no problem with it and had full groups each time. However, I only did it a few times because it got tedious with 10 waves. I think they should cut it back to 5 next year so that it is quicker to complete.

I’ve seen them harvesting nodes lately. Hopefully they will be able to code in something that will prevent the use of that hack.

Sometimes I think things must look different from other people’s screens. Two days into the puzzle I hadn’t made it into the box yet, but while jumping someone accused me of using a portal hack. They said it looked like to them I was disappearing without jumping or falling.

In general map chat they told everyone to report me, to which I immediately responded with a ‘hey, I’m here and a real person!’ They still didn’t believe me. I don’t mind if they reported me, since it wasn’t until two hours later that I actually made the box & got the prize for the first time. I’m sure anet would be able to check and see that I’ve only opened the chest once (didn’t try again after I finally got it!)

Still, it was a little disconcerting to be accused of hacking/botting/farming when really I’d been putting in a lot of effort into beating that kitteny puzzle! (not a great jumper, but persistent!)

People should not do that. It’s slander to lie about someone. If they think someone is botting or hacking they should report it the proper way ingame. Thinking and knowing are two different things. EQ2 can properly check on it to see if indeed someone is botting or hacking.

I just matched races with classes that I wanted to play.
Sylvari ranger, Asuran Necro (pets are as big as she is), Human ele, Norn engineer, Charr warrior.

The mist wolf just poofs at the end of its time. Perhaps the dogs could do that too.
