I read the dev tracker pertaining to this thread but not every post in this thread. So I read that blog post and found it confusing. Probably because I haven’t been reading forums consistently.

I already pre-purchased the expansion. You do have to purchase the expansion to get the expansion content, don’t you?

I understand the part about the character slot. I know I will get one because I pre-purchased the game at launch. The rest of that blog post doesn’t apply to anything about those of us who bought the game when it first came out…correct?

Reading that blog post is like walking into a room in the middle of a conversation. You stand there wandering what the heck people are talking about.

I’m wondering this too from the stand point of small guilds. We have tons of influence because there is nothing really for us to spend it on as we aren’t enough people to do the missions and quests. These halls look huge and geared towards massive size guilds.

Is there something usable for smaller guilds?

I regret buying that infinite coin now. I liked SAB. They could simply open it back up with what it had at the time and let us work for the rewards that it had at the time and use our coin. I really don’t understand why they handled it the way they did.

I haven’t done dailies since they changed them. I miss the old dailies in general. I do the wvw ones sometimes but the others I don’t do anymore.

I’ve logged in and out several times and I can see our guild and everyone in it but if you try and chat in guild chat is says you are not in a guild. It is doing that to others in the guild too.

Ok…I found a suggestion posted 7 days ago in another thread to go to the friends tab and go invisible then online. That fixed it for me for now.

I wanted a new race for a new class.

It’s been a bit of time since the new type of daily was introduced. With the old daily, I logged in, almost always completed the daily and while doing so often identified other things I wanted to do in game and spent time on the game several days a week. Now, sometimes I log in and get the free chest. Then I look to see what the daily is and decide I don’t want to do it as it looks quite boring now and really don’t spend enough time in game to be lured into playing.

I know people are debating is it good for the game or bad etc. I don’t know or care about that as I only play to enjoy a game. In my specific case, it has not encouraged me to spend time in game.

Do you have to complete the jumping puzzles in order to get the wintersday tree?

You have to survive to the end of a single song. The ones at the start of each cycle are easy, while the ones at the end are harder.

I think if they added more choices to pve it would be ok. Less restrictive and more choices. As is, if I bother to do it at all, I will do most or all of it in WvW.

Do we really have to complete all 5 choices to complete the daily? One of which is the jumping puzzle?

I hope I’m wrong but I have never been able to complete timed jumping puzzles.

So I used to login, work on the daily, and then during the process, I would usually run into someone to do more stuff with and play the game a while. Now I login, get the daily login reward, look at the list of stuff to do for the rest of the daily, go meh, and log right back out.

WvW isn’t bad because you can just play normal WvW and get it easy. However, I play WvW when I’m in the mood for it. I don’t want to play it every day. I don’t know about PvP, haven’t tried it. PvE isn’t normal game play. It’s artificial go here, and then go there, and then now go do that over there. It’s a list of chores, not a “get it during normal game play.”

It feels like you are trying to drive people out of PvE to WvW or PvP. I like WvW but I don’t like a game trying to boss me around. I think you need to add more choices back in.

And seriously, isn’t it enough to have a megaserver, now you have to funnel the mega into ONE zone. Lag, lag, lag.

Somehow I think people missed the op’s word play.

Actually, I wish they would take that one step further. Put all currencies in the wallet. Have no temporary currencies.

If they insist on having more temporarily useful junk to clutter our bags and banks with, perhaps clearly label the currency itself with an “expiration” date and put in a permanent currency exchange NPC that exchanges expired currencies for something at least slightly useful.

Both games have their merit. I like being able to use skills while moving, many games don’t have that and I much prefer it. I like being able to heal myself and rez anyone. And there are other things I do like about gw2.

But other than my friend and later on the orders sidekick in my personal story, I don’t really remember many stories in gw2. I remember the quests and missions from gw1 now even though I haven’t played in a couple of years. I can’t remember what I played last month in gw2 as it seems to not be memorable to me. I honestly don’t know the reason why but the stories here just don’t seem to resonate with me.

I typically do the PvE ones and just enough to complete the daily. If any of the other parts finish it is due to me playing and them accidentally completing.

It should be fun, not stressful for you and it shouldn’t be something you feel you have to do.

Unless you saw it within the last two days, I don’t think that it is there any more at any time. I honestly think that it was (re)moved with the recent zone changes.

When you saw it pop up before it was probably due to the daily reset of nodes that naturally occurs.

Oddly, I’ve checked multiple times yesterday and today. There were no events up. I simply do not see the lettuce any more. I must be bugged.

Is it gone? Moved? Or am I bugged and can’t see it?

I’ve played GW2 since the beginning, I was unlucky enough to level 5 characters to 80 before the major changes arrived requiring skill points to unlock traits with skill points.

I didn’t realize how great this system was, until I leveled 2 new characters within the past month to 80. You have two choices when it comes to unlocking your traits, either you can continue grinding “mini quests”, these include quick and simple things such as:

1. Find the grand chest near Scholar Fryxx (bring 3+ mesmer friends with you)
2. Defeat the Risen Priest of Grenth
3. Complete Crucible of Eternity in Story Mode
4. Defeat the Karka Queen
5. Complete the Ruined City of Arah in Story Mode
etc.

OR…you can spend your gold + skill points at the vendor. Luckily though, it only costs 72 skill points to get all the traits in one trait line, or 360 skill points to get all the traits on one character. Not too bad.

As of present, my two “new” level 80’s have probably about 50% of their traits unlocked (remember, skill points are sunk into utilities, heals, elites, ect as well). The lack of having all my traits unlocked means I need to carefully craft builds around what I do have unlocked. I look forward to earning an additional 200+ skill points or grinding out “mini quests” & dungeons for each character to maximize their potential.

But why is this not implemented anywhere else at level 80? Wouldn’t it be fun to require health/stamina pools to requiring grinding as well? Better yet, think of the other possibilities across the different classes:

Mesmers – Make it so that at level 80 you only have 1 of the 3 illusion slots unlocked. For the other two, make it so that they have to grind out dungeons or commit X amount of hours into playing the character.

Warriors – Make it so that adrenaline bar segments/burst skills are earned through completion of the personal story. That would be so exciting!

Rangers – Make it so that before they can charm a pet on a particular map, they have to have that map 100% completed. Bam wham! Instant fun!

I would love to see the system continue to develop down this path, I’m sure new players appreciate it as well.

I think it would have been easier to have a traditional starter area tutorial set of quests than to have to try and have a tutorial without having a tutorial so that it is a confusing, no this isn’t a tutorial (pay no attention to the tutorial hiding behind the gates) type thing.

Leveling alts(s) to level 10 and then unlocking all weapons skills by equipping each weapon is convenient. The rest really seriously do need a good looking in to.

I enjoyed leveling the weapon skills and looking at the list of weapons I could equip and then crafting or finding or somehow getting the weapons I hadn’t unlocked and unlocking the skills. It just sort of felt like a small little accomplishment.

Question: Is there some place where each change and its rationale is clearly explained by a developer? Other than an overall general “we are making it easier” statement?

But what do you do if you get into the company and find most people don’t run dungeons? I’m not saying they do or they don’t…but what would you do if that were the case?

My guess is that if more people ran dungeons, more work would be done on them, because it’s just logical.

People ran the dungeons in gw1 constantly for fun and profit. Something changed. Something is different about the dungeons here than there. I ran the ones in gw1 for fun. Guildies were always asking for us to do a FOW run and it was a blast. Took a long time commitment. If some goof got the NPCs killed on us it would all fail. But it was FUN. It was fun even when it failed. We would all say, oh no! the mesmer did it again, going after that chest. (we had one specific mesmer notorious for that).

Lots of dungeons were popular and done often. For fun. I wish I could make a list that said.. here is how you make the current dungeons as fun as the ones in gw1 but fun is very subjective.

I don’t know why the dungeons here don’t feel as fun to me. I have done them some, and they were ok sometimes but I don’t know, they seemed a bit tedious and less fun. More like a job than fun but I don’t know why.

I often get the feeling here that decisions are made without fun being the primary consideration. I play games to have fun.

As for people just leaving silently without leaving feedback, I’m sure there are lots of people that do that. In fact, there are a bunch in my guild that left silently.

The business I work in puts a lot of effort in getting people (customers and employees) who leave to give them feedback. They told us that it is better economically to keep the customers and employees you have than to have retention problems. I would think most businesses would welcome feedback.

I’m having that same problem. Something broke the main site for some people. The forums, on the other hand, look just fine.

I don’t think it was an exploit as it was not bypassing normal game play. Nor was it using some bug or glitch.

Personally, I don’t like repeating the same content over and over but I don’t care if others want to put their time into it.

However, I resent GW2 giving us the frequent drop of chests in game without a reliable in game manner through normal game play to get keys to unlock the chests. I understand they need to make money and that some people will spend a boat load of money on keys gambling to get something cool. However, I’ve always felt that manipulative ways to get get money from people is sort of sleezy. Just my personal opinion not necessarily shared by others but is one of those things that has affected my opinion of gw2 business decisions.

So I have two of one mini that I should have only had one of and a mini is missing. Did anyone else lose mini’s or have a glitch like that?

Just a question here because I am curious. The idea of the Living World is that there is a storyline that you take part in, that you are involved in events that shape Tyria in permanent ways—how would you all convey the sense of progression and change without also making changes to the landscape? I see a couple of comments regarding creating things, not simply destroying. Do you all have any other ideas?

Other people have given some specific suggestions, I’m just going to make a general statement.

I’m not a fan of ugly. We have a lot of ugly, corrupted, destroyed zones in the game already.. Orr, other areas. I really don’t like progressively making other areas ugly looking.

Changes and destruction don’t have to go hand and hand. Change doesn’t always have to end up making nice looking places ugly and desolate.

We feel it’s important to offer players the chance to adjust their world ability point selections at the start of a tournament, but I understand how it can be tedious to have to spend those points again across all characters. Being able to reallocate points at any time, in a manner similar to our trait system, is feedback that I will definitely bring to the team, for future consideration.

Yeah it was fun. However, it was instanced. Only you and your group members were out in the world. And you could simply go to a town that was near the instance you wanted to go to. So you did have easy travel, just a different type of easy travel.

I too would like clarification on what exactly WON’T remain for each of the installments.
If they would just say… this specific part will be gone, everything else stays, then I know what to expect.

We already have factions. Every race has the opposing side of bad guys. If they want to have players as the opposing faction instead of NPCs then they can just make the nightmare court, etc., as playable.

I’m guessing because some people are frustrated by scattered information. I don’t mind it because I’m sure they are just trying to reach different groups of people, however, I do agree that they should have tools on this forum site that bring that information here. I personally only regularly check here for current news, the dulfy site, and the main guildwars2.com site when it has something new.

I’m sure it is quicker and easier for them to use some of the other tools than the forum and website but I think they can probably make the forum site better with feeds coming to it from the other sites.

First a question. Will we be using the festival tokens and gauntlet tickets in the future?

If no, tell us now so we can use them up.

If yes, please turn them into currency so they don’t take up a ton of space.

I’ve got everything I wanted this time and now am getting a bit exasperated at the space they are occupying in my bags and bank.

Which leads to a further suggestion. Clearly mark things that will never ever be used again so we know it is safe to destroy those items.

Please put all things that are going to be used in the future into currency. Anything used as a ticket or to purchase or trade for items … put into currency. You could even have a tab in currency called “event items”.

Always think … will this be clogging up bags or bank spaces? If it will then do something to prevent those dirty clogs!

That brings me to those piles of that red stuff for ascended items. Good grief. My artificer is not yet high enough to make them into bricks. They are consuming space like that old horror monster, the blob. Somewhat annoying.

They are pretty cool looking. I like both mistforged and hero skins. However, none of the current armor looks I have on my characters goes with the weapons. And I like my current looks. I will either save my tokens or get the ascended accessories probably.

It is obvious that they are trying to make fights more interesting, encourage working together, and have something that isn’t just another zerg. It’s an experiment. They will see what worked, what didn’t, and then tweak it some more for the next experiment.

No point in getting all annoyed with them. They are having to try and work with both constraints of the game itself and with human nature. I’m sure it is extremely hard to design something that can’t be messed up by someone, somehow.
