but that when in a teamfight come up that 2 classes that can simply kill all the others easy, just why have more AoE (damage or cc) or better defensive skills that make them able to fight more opponents at a time than just one.
And how is that different than now? As for the organized teams I solo q as do a lot of others. The friends I use to play with have already left this game. And balance by group is why you have certain classes that are now forced into certain roles ex. Heal bot ele where if balance was decided by 1v1 this wouldn’t be the case
Honestly I just wish they would balance for 1v1 rather than group so they would all be close.
People keep saying that the build and class diversity is bad now, but it’s never been worse than it was the whole year leading up to the HoT release. No, you couldn’t roll any class/build before before if you actually wanted to win against competent teams. The meta was rustled some by the introduction of burn guard as well as the mediham + thief duo for a short while then it went back to the same boring bruiser heavy team comp tripe that stacked cele amulet users with loads of sustain.
And I would happily take that over what we have now. There were still non meta builds that actually did quite well unless against an organized team
Between amulet removals and balance build diversity is this worst I can recall it being
Hot brought a lot of power creep, but especially to pvp so I’m a little iffy on yet another one. Especially when they haven’t finished the legendary weapons that were supposed to come with hot
It should be 1v1 if they want matchmaking to be about skill. Then you’re not handicapped with people who camp at home or run lord to die all match or some other ridiculous crap.

Let’s be honest…you won’t go get your own cookie, you’ll make it half way down the isle and realize you need to walk farther. That may have been the original design but as a returning player after two years i’m finding i’ve been very much left behind, my fault i guess for leaving but still left behind..
It is good news that only fotm and raids are needed for ascended, i have a few trinkets but no agony resistance as i cannot just add it right? I must jump through hoops for that too if i remember correctly?
Well if they kept adding new gear level on a regular basis you would have a point. But they added ascended gear years ago. The first trinket were added to the game like 2-3 months after the game was release and we knew then that the full ascended gear will eventually become available. The armor, the last pieces of ascended gear was added to the game like 2 years ago.
Like other said, it’s only needed in fractal. Raid can be done with exotic and Frankly as long as you have ascended trinkets and weapons you will be ok for raid. That said, it will be harder to find pugs without a full ascended gear. Simply because why should pug take you there is 10 people with full ascended gear next to you.
As for the grind. The fact that you stopped to play for 2 years don’t really help you since you didn’t accumulated material in that time. Just to give you an idea. If you buy everything on the market crafting an ascended armor will cost you 550 gold. There is plenty of ways to gain about 10 gold per hours and you can even go up to 20 gold per hours. So it should take you about 55 hours at max to have enough gold and material to craft a full ascended armor.
What exactly are these gold making ways? Obviously I’m doing it wrong as I don’t get crap for gold
Clearly the business decision would be to buff warriors’ elite specs. There are two choices here, and let’s see if you can pick the right one as a developer:
a) Spend x time buffing warriors’ elite specs to be on par with other elite specs.
b) Spend 8x time nerfing a main sales point in your game.

You cant seriously be that blind. And neither can Anet. The goal of game developement is never to make the easiest choices possible. Balancing is not intended to be ‘easy’ or ‘fast’. Balancing is aimed to provide a healthy, well-working framework for people to play in. And a professional balance team, despite all the mistakes they made, should know this. I hope no game developer has ever aimed for the easiest possible way to to achieve the desired result, knowing that it will not actually fix any problems.
It might very well be that they only equalize for now (buffing warrior and nerfing others), but they will have to look at the system as a whole eventually and they will have to reconsider the implementation of elitespecs.

Time is money. The solution is simple. To make this any more complicated and time-consuming for the company to work on every single class when they’re balanced between one-another at the moment is non-sensical. This is one of those examples where there’s a gap of intelligence which creates a fallacy that a complicated solution is better which in reality is the opposite.

Season 1 matchmaking was better than season two. Yeah you could grind up but now you can coast up if you get grouped with good players
As for match prediction pitting higher mmr vs. Lower is doing the same thing
If you switched to scepter you would be able to kite better and avoid dh traps but I’m no expert
I only played to sapphire. Not because I couldn’t go higher but that’s when I got the last of the shards I needed for my legendary. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have played this season at all

If players are placed in different divisions according to their ranked mmr that problem should be less significant.
For the bad players that actually have high mmr, the possibility to lose divisions will put them in a league division according to their skill level.
Of course pve players will complain in the ranked season, but they will eventually settle for the rewards of the unranked season.

When exactly have you seen the players of this game settle for anything? There would be just as much hostility as there is now and it won’t be just the pve crowd. Titles and things would be fine but when you add legendary things to the mix it’s asking for the pve crowd to want it as that’s where the stats would actually mean something

If enemy team has two condi classes stack as much clear as possible and try to watch when you have damaging conditions to use it rather than mostly cover condis

This makes me miss all the builds that’s aren’t viable anymore

NEW CLASS MECHANIC
F5 skill summons a Djinn from Elona.
when the summoner changes attunements, the Djinn changes form, (such as flame Djinn, Frost Djinn, etc)
when the Djinn is summoned, F5 becomes, another skill to detonate the Djinn. when the Djinn detonates, it causes a large explosion (600 radius?) to do damage that also causes an elemental control effect (based on attunement) such as fire: smoke field; air, knockback; earth, blind; water, freeze foes around the djinn for 1 second or 2 (like Shiro’s Jade Wind skill for rev) edit: detonating the djinn puts the F5 skill on cooldown.
the Djinn’s skills change based on which attuenement the elementalist summoner is in.
there would be a trait, to proc master minor traits on the Djinn (such as sunspot) on attunement swap.
UTILITY SKILL CATEGORY: SUMMONs
~Tidal Wave: summon a large tidal wave that knocks back foes as it hits them. after the initial wave crashes, it returns from where it came, pulling foes back about half the distance they were knocked back. (this simulates a large wave crashing on shore and then returning to the sea, keeping the enemy out of balance, who is in the tide)
~Summon Rodgort (elite) : call for Rodgort’s aide. when the dragon initially lands, it knocksdown foes, then the skill changes to a secondary skill to cause Rodgort to breath fire on the area to create a fire field that damages foes. Rodgort will remain until he dies. (like a flesh golem)
~ Forgotten Relics: summon 4 large boulders (could be broken ancient rubble from Forgotten Statues, maybe pieces from the ancient statue in the Crystal Desert, that though crumbled, still appears to be whole and standing from a distance)… these 4 “boulders” would circle the elementalist summoner for up to 30 seconds. if they block an attack, they explode. if they hit a foe, they explode for small damage and stun the foe for 1/2 second. once they are summoned, the skill changes to allow the elementalist summoner to launch the boulders at their target, up to 900 range.
~ Fountain of Youth (heal): summons a water field that heals allies and removes their conditions. also poisons foes for 10 seconds.
~ Searing Cauldron: summon a searing cauldron that will periodically cause a local searing event. (think: an area-denial turret that can be destroyed)
~ Aziure’s Mark: you mark your target, who is then attacked by several summoned minor air elementals for a short time
WEAPON
i have NOT come up with any weapon theme that i like too much, but i was thinking maybe a mace mainhand. (keep in mind the potential damage from the Djinn and Rodgort)
air autoattack would swing the mace, and the shockwave would hit targets up to 600 range.
air 2: vulnerability stacker
air 3: summon a mini black whole (think Legendary Diarmid in Dragon’s Stand) that sucks foes into it for a second or two.
earth autoattack chain would be melee cleave, damage—> bleeding—→ weakness
earth 2 would be a block
earth 3 would be a small knockback + blind. (spin around, knocking back your foes, then slam your mace to the ground, creating a dust cloud that blinds your foes.
fire autoattack : 900 range: cause your target/s (small, 300 AoE) to burn. if your target is already burning, do bonus damage to targets within the AoE (edit: think: Searing Flames elite skill from Gw1)
fire 2: mark of rodgort: (this would be similiar to revenenat hammer 2, but spread burning) 900 range
fire 3: supernova: 900 range: summon a supernova at target’s location, 1 second delayed explosion (300 AoE), shockwave causes 3 stacks burning (600 AoE)
water autoattack: melee cleave: damage—→ chill—→ AoE heal
water 2: 600 range: throw 6 ice shards at your foe in rapid succession,
water 3: create an ice shield to block up to 3 attacks… detonate early to blind nearby foes.
TRAITS:
minors:
adept: gain F5 to summon and detonate Djinns
master: blind nearby foes when summoning or detonating a djinn (AoE centered on self AND on djinn)
grandmaster: pressing f5 is also a stun break, +10% damage against blind foes
Adept traits:
~ when you strike a blinded foe, gain 10 endurance
~ when you summon or detonate a Djinn, remove a condition
~ apply burning whenever you strike a foe with a condition (10 second cooldown)
Master traits:
~ gain regen and protection whenever you summon or detonate a Djinn
~ minor master traits also proc off your Djinn (like sunspot)
~ summoning or detonating a djinn will also detonate auras for damage
GM traits:
~ gain might and fury whenever you use a summon skill (f5 and any skill saying “summon” in the description, including the new utility skill category, glyphs, and some mace skills)
~ Djinn will detonate twice when detonated
~ summoning or detonating a Djinn will grant quickness to allies

I’ve had this happen when I was knocked into a wall. The /sit /dance routine didn’t work. Had to wait to die and respawn which sucked
Ele isn’t really bad at anything. They aren’t great in pvp this season unless you like being a healer but other than that I can’t think of anything a team wouldn’t want an ele for. I solo pve with my ele and have a blast
I am a confirmed ele racist. Sorry guys. Old Guard habits never die. But now its even worse since the eles get to bunker and the guardian can’t. I will just sit in hotm whispering. God kitten Eles. Whenever one walks by. That’s all I can do now in this meta. :-(
To be fair ele isn’t a bunker as it can be burst down, it’s just a heal bot
Sorry but you’re prob not going to find what you’re looking for as most of the defensive amulets were removed from pvp recently
Though there are a couple left you could try like clerics

How do you get that to work? I use cleansing water and if I’m by myself I only cleanse 2
They also lack the damage, mobility, and escape of a thief. Most ele don’t like being the heal bot it’s just all we got left with

I main Ele in PVP, a while now, not sure how many hours i have, im not pro im one of those mediocre guys playing in pvp w a class they like.
Anyhow since the patch hit i voiced alot of my oppinion on negative side of changes and nerfs to us. We still suck no worries, but hey at least we have one entire role where we can excel..

Problem my friend…the class was not advertised as GW2 version of the MonK, AKA the description of the class say completely otherwise, right now the class is entirely being balanced around the support role, everything else around it it’s or has already been nerfed to the ground and made completely unusable.
My problem is, I fell in love with D/D from Daphoenix days, so don’t accuse to me to being a FoTMer, I played the D/D in its highest and lowest days, I never deserted my beloved spec, even it sucked more then one year.
It is again in the same state but this time I have no nerves to take the same punishment, so I am looking other classes similar to Ele, mainly Engi and Druid.
If someday D/D will be viable again I will play it but noway I will play that brain dead 0 damage cleric E/W/T.

Its a support bot only, no damage at all, so no I don’t class that as fine

There are classes that actually need help.
Only mesmer and warrior in terms of focus and revs in terms of needing a nerf, but that doesn’t mean eles are fine. Anet should be able to work on every class simultaneously.

PvP is a massive improvement from season 1.

they shouldn’t have a class restriction. Everyone saw what happened to the ranger and simply put Anet needs to focus on balancing the game because there is still a huge problem with build diversity.
Its amazing how we got this new meta yet most of the teams had almost the exact same builds. You go back to WTS boston where ORNG beat the Abjured, people were crying left and right about the Abjured builds from people in NA and then boom a group of players who could think outside the box from a team comp perspective.
We cant do that now because there is no balance in the game. Its play elite spec or die. Its play highest dps weapons whether is damage or condi or die. No build diversity at all.

In a team game, support always has a place. Ele is the best class at support. However, it is indeed trash tier at doing anything else. Ele has literally 1 build. If you were paying attention, that is what people (who know what they’re talking about) have been complaining about.
So ele has one build…same can be said for necro engi mesmer and ranger. The only class that has more is rev who btw was the only stacked class.
The rest of the classes have zero builds.
Ele is fine and the players who playou it have nothing to complain about and should just be filed under misplaced self entitlement

You are right. Here is the thing though. There were more people complaining about DS (which isn’t a problem in a team setting) because of that 1v1 MENTALITY and Anet absolutely guts a subpar trait to begin with, into uselessness.
Why? Because of the whining.
They could’ve just toned down the protection spam, not because it’s strong, because it affects allies via aura sharing.
I think this is a totally bs reason for not balancing skills/traits. Skills/traits should not solely be balanced around 5v5 conquest.
The previous iteration of DS was definitely not okay. Maybe it was balanced in a 5v5, but in 1v1 (and many 2v2s) it nearly invalidated all condition builds. Don’t even try to argue this; there wasn’t a condi build alive that could take out even a slightly above average ele (lets say 60th percentile) using DS. DS was balanced in the fairly common (but not all-encompassing) 5v5 scenario, but it was ridiculously overpowered in 1v1s and even some 2v2s (team mates may heal the ele). Previous DS was NOT balanced, don’t try to argue that it was.
Actually I rarely ever had an issue breaking DS then again I rarely go full condi. While I agree it could be toned down a bit, I don’t like how it is now at all
Auras nerf + Celestial removal + Diamond Skin nerf + Earth protection “fix” = D/D ele is prbly the worst class to sPvP today.
I can see how auras lasted to long, or diamond skin was a bit much… but dont make all this nerfs while u also remove celestial and decide to fix earth overload….

Sorry even with the nerf, my df tempest hold his ground in 1v1 versus reaper opness. (take a minute or two, but at least the build offer the best support of all classes/builds for team fights)

I think you all need to get the new meta build on metabattle. (not yet there, after PRO League is starting i guess) From there, you will try it and like it or not. But it will never be OP as the kittening mess we had since april 2014 patch.
