The problem with being rewarded semi-appropriately is that players can park their characters at the exit and get the free “good” reward.
That doesn’t work for Hidden Garden. On the other hand it isn’t so hard that it feels like it needs some special reward. It’s a nice looking JP but not a hard JP.
I think the op means bring back the fun of farming to gw2 that we had in gw1.
So you want MORE brutal DR? That is what GW1 had in comparison to GW2 …
Start and path are not necessary but they are useful. The thing I have in mind is calculating current status.
Location should also have 3 different fields. Start, current and final location.
Another thing that would be nice to go with the location is the path.
It would also be nice to have a timestamp for when an event has entered its current state. This can be used to figure out how much time is left on on timed events. It can also be used to find all potentially stalled events.
Many events also have some sort of objective. It would be nice to have the state of those objectives too. Examples would be when the pirates burn the town in Gendarran Fields and you have to put out x/y fires. Another example is when you have to take down the door in the Taidha Covington pre-event.
Well you have to make sure you have received the map completion reward from every map. Simply getting 100% doesn’t seem to trigger. This include the Chantry of Secrets which doesn’t actually give you anything but it will still show the dialog anyway.
Also click the yellow thing that is shaking in the corner of your screen trying to get your attention if it’s there …

Some great ideas in here. We’re also thinking about Weakness ourselves and wondering if we need to do any changes to make it more meaningful.
Thanks for being so constructive with your feedback!
J
Since you guys never seem to consider the ramifications of changes on the PvE side of things, I would just like to point out that any buff to Weakness is also a buff to Karkas.
Probably others too but that is what comes most immediate due to the current event.
There has never been a statement about whether it is intended or not but there are various conditions which seems to cause it.
1) harvesting while in combat, specifically getting attacked in combat
2) switching gathering tools in the middle of gathering, even if it isn’t the tool being used
1) Pretty sure this part is not a bug, not for the Lesser elemental anyway. It is how much time you have left before it dies. That is a very useful thing to know. The elite uses the recharge time instead which is much less useful.
2) Pretty sure this is not a bug either. If it worked like how you described then the lesser elemental could be kept up permanently unless it gets killed, even without any traits.
Banners are not comparable. They don’t move, they can’t attack nor can they be attacked. Banners also have a bug where they are lasting 150% their stated duration. A better comparison would be Guardian spirit weapons and those behave the same way as the glyphs.
Hmm … actually you have left out the relevant information for fixing this.
There could be a bug in
1) the skill
2) the runes
3) the food
4) all of the above
I’ve just checked this myself while murdering Fireflies and it doesn’t show any of the the subsecond times. If would be much easier to test using all 4 hits from Drake’s Breath anyway. If the buffs ARE working then you should see a 16s burn by the time Drake’s Breath ends. If the buffs are NOT working then you should see a 12s burn by the time Drake’s Breath ends.
Hardly. I’m European and play on an NA server, and my ping is excellent. I have met other Europeans, Asians and Australians on the same North American server. None of us felt we wanted or needed to switch to a European server for better lag. As far as the people go that I’ve talked to anyway.
What really bothers me is that we can’t guess between NA and EU servers. I honestly don’t see the purpose of that. I have gamer friends from way back, half of them are US-based and the other half are EU-based, and I can only meet up for dungeon runs with 50% of them.
So far, nobody could explain to me why this degree of separation is necessary.
… and I am in the US playing on a EU server. There generally hasn’t been any problem for ME aside from ones caused by my own connection. However as I write this right now I am talking with two guild mates who are also from the US(one is even in the same city) and they are experiencing very horrible lag. The networks are not as perfect as you think. That lag wasn’t always there either and it is only during certain times of the day.
What you say is true but that isn’t the biggest problem. Too many traits are simply bad compared to the alternative in the same slot or event one from a lower tier.
The alternative to Grenadier is Autodefense Bomb Dispenser for Grandmaster. In my opinion the alternative is NEVER worth taking unless Grenadier gets nerfed into the ground. Obviously you can also take one of the Master or Adept traits instead but it is saying a lot about how good the Grandmaster traits are if Master and Adept have better alternatives.
All traits in the same tier/slot should be equally tempting to take. Taking one over the other should feel like a sacrifice not a “well this is the best of the worse I guess … no reason to leave the slot blank”.
3.5 sounds like you are looking at the skill info tooltip. Many of those are actually are actually wrong/does not update to reflect changes. They certainly need to be fixed but if it is just the tooltip it is not as big of a problem.
On the other hand an elementalist who sticks to just fire is going to have problems regardless …
Funny that people are still using that static guide when there’s gw2crafts.net which doesn’t even include dill (currently). Do people really always choose the first google hit? :p
That wouldn’t be surprising. Companies spend huge chunk of money to get themselves in the top of search results for a reason.
Small guilds are ripped off in this game. Join a bigger one if you want commendations, you’ll never get them in a small guild.
Depends on your definition of “small”. 5 is basically the minimum for a tier 1 bounty. 4 if you expect to be very lucky. That is for actually finishing both targets and getting merits. If the only goal is 2 commendations per week then as mentioned above a tier 3 can make that fairly easy.
There is obviously the issue of having the influence to build/unlock all these things but that simply a matter of when you will get it and not if. Bounty training can also help, assuming you can get the 4 or 5 people online. It might be harder but those aren’t unreasonable numbers.
1) Craft it yourself
2) Buy from other players on the Trading Post
Exotic cleric back item does not exist. The best you can get is Masterwork(from personal story). If you are mostly interested in the Healing Power there is exotic Magi back piece which you can get for 42k karma or 5g+5 guild commendations
The other option is http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sclerite_Karka_Shell_%28ascended%29 but that is Condition Damage instead of power and expensive to make AND 1 per account
If it is just for the SP you shouldn’t need to clear the temple. Just don’t try to get the SP while an event is active.
Only thing I agree with is that he either has way too much health for that area or that the NPCs die way too fast and thus do little to no damage.
I think they are trying to avoid having NPCs simply completing events on their own. There still seems to be one or two where that is possible.
HP and damage aside, the giant’s shockwave attack seems to have some animation issues. That makes timing the dodge for it a lot more difficult. Either that or the animation and actual attacks are not sync correctly. It could be lag but I find it unlikely that I am lagging every time I fight it and only when fighting the giant.
It has always been like that with water mobs. Probably because according to the pathing data they CAN reach you so it doesn’t trigger the invulnerable for sniping but the mob AI prevents it from walking out of the water. For some reason only some mobs respond by trying to run away/out of range.
Don’t expect it this patch. This patch is supposedly intending on fixing bugs and balance issues.
And you don’t think culling is the biggest bug in the game?
It is not a bug, it’s a feature! No really … it is working as intended and doing whakitten was meant to. That is not something that would be considered a bug. Culling is just a stopgap measure to allow the game to be running until they can deal with the performance issues on both the client and server side.
They should really make story mode unlocks account wide instead. However, if they are not willing to do this, then at a minimum they should provide us with such an interface.
Maybe they really want you to have that stupid hat and the two are somehow tied together.
Wasn’t Dill the ingredient used in some super popular dish for no condition duration Warrior builds in WvW?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Dilled_Clam_Chowder this?
I guess if -24% is enough then there is no point in getting the -40%.
I’ve got a Razer Naga expert mmo gaming mouse, so i use all the skills and stuff with my mouse. It has 17 buttons, moving ofc i use my left one on W,S,A,D
I do recommend the Razer Naga mouse
Once you go naga, you’ll never go back to regular boring mouses xD
Got a naga hex recently because my old mouse was not really clicking anymore(the clicker has been worn down, there is a 2mm gouge on it :P). I actually prefer the old mouse(Logitech MX310) over the naga hex.
… because you already got it once before? There was a new POI added.
Don’t worry, I am sure this will be fixed to make it more “fun and interesting for players”.
Mentioned this before but simply reusing the same UI used in Eye of the North would be nice for these! It simply displayed a different icon for the dungeon on the world map depending on whether or not you have done the story on that character.
Alternatively adding another tab similar to the Personal Story tab to the Hero panel would also make sense. It could even track if you’ve done a particular path for each dungeon each day.
Slapping it on to the achievement section wouldn’t really make sense since those are all account based.
In the meantime I have a spreadsheet …
The other option is keeping all the useless hats from the story mode around.
Resets at the same time as daily.
8pm for eastern US. See link for other places in the world.

Left hand handles
WASD – forward, strafe left, back, strafe right
2,3
Q – heal
F1-4 → zxce – these can be activated either by the fingers above them or the thumb
1 – mouse
4,5 – mouse + keyboard
7 – mouse
8 – mouse/mouse+keyboard
9 – mouse+keyboard
0 – alt+e
and the mouse is still use for turning and the rest should be mostly defaults
5 is definitely enough. Did it with 2 for my achievement. :P
Taidha is tough but she also doesn’t reset.
The backlog of chests that will be awarded is going to cause a massive drop in ecto prices initially, with a bounce back to ~17s, where it will stabilize due to the new source of ectos.
That is my estimation at least.
Price will not drop significantly, and this change will more than likely have no effect.
-The chests will not be awarded all at once. If you have a backlog they will be rewarded 2 to 1 for every new rank you get. So extra supply will trickle in rather than be one lump-sum
-Ranks are hard to get. You need to WvW for hours to get a rank. Opportunity cost is missing all the meta events that give you a guaranteed rare where there are plenty of them. I’m 100% sure you will get less rares per hour farming in WvW than farming metaevents
- Not everyone WvW’s
… and the people who do just WvW(the ones who will be getting the most ranks/chests) might want to keep them for the ascended accessories
Personal story difficulty is just all over the place. You can have one step that is very difficult followed by a step you could do in your sleep.
Still doesn’t fix the problems just dodges it, and they wonder why everyone guests..
It absolutely fixes the problem. That’s the difference between you and me. I see a place I can go and play for free and have fun, with basically no effort, and yeah, that’s all I want to do in a game. Play and have fun.
If the server I’m on doesn’t get the temples down, that’s okay because I’m not being charged to go to a temple on another server. Not many games offer that sort of advantage.
Where you see a problem, I’m seeing a solution.
Every single MMO out there has more populated servers and less populated servers. The only other solution is to make one single shard, which I’m not convinced would work for an MMORPG. I know Eve does this and it works there, but a game in space in a ship is not quite the same thing as a world with plants and animals and creatures and players. So yeah, I don’t really think the technology is here right now to put everyone on one server.
The next best solution is let everyone go to another server for free. In most games you get charged for this, or maybe you could transfer once a week, but can’t be on the same server as your friends until that week is up, unless you all move together.
In MMO space, this isn’t a problem, it’s a solution.
Well there is the other obvious solution. Proper scaling of events,. This includes various NPCs paper thin armor and non-existent HP as well as being aware of how the various monster skills interact with the generally braindead and useless NPCs. Having events fail because of stupid NPCs standing in/walking into AoE is not a fun experience.
This is not a Fervid Censer specific bug. It happens with other back items as well.
If it used to proc on every projectile then they just fixed a bug.
The only skills on SB that is 100% proc are Suprise Shot(1 while stealthed) and Disabling Shot(3).
For pistol it’s Body Shot(2), Headshot(4) and Black Powder(5).
Using barracudas in southsun as target(because they don’t move if you shoot from land) all of these proc as expected. Trick Shot and Vital Shot only have a 20% chance to proc.
It certainly feels like it makes a difference.
When using my warrior with explorer armor with pirate+noble runes and opal trinkets I was getting a lot less of the whites than my engineer who is using all rampager.
The t6 drops actually do not seem to be as good of an indicator. They still seemed to drop at a decent rate when I was running around with 0MF trying to test the GF buff(it sucks -_-).
For something less vague than “it feels like …”, I was killing dredges with a friend for a few hours the other day, I had around 129% MF and she had around 180% MF. She ended up with around 30% more Heavy Miner’s Bag. The numbers were still too small to be definitive but a 30% difference in loot from a 40% difference in MF does seem significant.
Many people have made claims about the toughness thing but as someone who frequently runs around with 2025 toughness(3236 armor) I don’t that to be true. The toughness could be higher but the people I run around with use more offensive specs so I know I still have the highest toughness. It has never seemed like I was getting more aggro. In fact I checked with the person who was getting the most aggro and they had less toughness.
It IS possible that I don’t notice the aggro simply because I am able to take a lot of damage. It is also possible that the armor prefix is being checked rather than actual toughness value. The person in our group who typically gets most of the aggro is wearing knight’s while I have cleric’s. Knight’s does provide more toughness than cleric’s.
Then there is the time we fought Subject Alpha in CoE path 1. It decided to stick with the person with berserker for all the encounters.
There is a spawn point in Southsun Cove which unreachable. Any attempt to get there results in you being teleported away because it is near the edge of the zone. I currently see 20 Reef Skelks there.
See picture for location.
I get better drops with no MF and more coins drop w/o the GF buff. In fact I get no coins with the GF on. Will never understand these 2 buffs..
The MF problem is anecdotal, I can clearly see a differences. As for the GF, only mobs who drop gold will be affected or ones who sometimes drop it. It doesn’t mean every mob will drop coin. Usually thiefs/bandits and some other mob types drop coin loot consistently, those are the best to farm with this but I’m not sure which SS mobs have this.
Maybe the consortium mobs from the events? The ones where you have to defend a settler.
Each time anet fixes orr to make it more attractive, they nerf it again to make it less attractive than before.
Example:
They minimize the amount of cc orian mobs do and increase the chance of getting heavy loot bags and t6 mats.
Orr was packed!
Then, they introduce the new event scaling. Which summons champs that one shot you.
Now Orr is empty again.
Its a vicious cycle. I don’t think anet knows what they want orr to be.
It would be fine if they actually did what they said they were going to do. That is to have scaling that is more than just having numbers go up. Right now that is all there is. Making things go from normal to veteran to champion just gives them more health, hit harder and gain defiant. They were supposed to gain new but not necessarily more powerful abilities. It looks like they are either unwilling or unable to implement their own design. When they mentioned the new scaling I thought they finally got around to that but unfortunately that was not the case.
To get 50% crit you need a total of 1872 Precision. Since the base Precision at 80 is 916 you will need 956 from other sources. The maximum can get from ascended trinkets is 549(126 + 103 * 2 + 91 * 2 + 35). With all the infusions that is 579.
With just trinkets and the trait, your crit chances are
without infusion
35% = (916 + 549 + 100 – 822)/21
with 6 infusions
37% = (916 + 579 + 100 – 822)/21
Can get armour from dungeons the guys listed above but Trinkets were craftable i think… i think
The trinkets require getting the recipe item from the dungeons and then 200 dungeon tokes to drop. IMO a much easier option is to buy them from the Grenth temple for 42k karma each.
I wouldn’t go all soldier’s all in one go. Actually I would check with something like http://gw2buildcraft.com/ first. I generally aim for 2000+ armor and 15k HP.
If you are going to spark farming route then get some MF AND find 1+ people to go killing with you(probably with similar gear!). Extra people can help make up for the lost damage output.
Various options.
1) CoF for gold
2) CoE for drops
3) fractals for drops
Probably others.
How much MF were you using and what were you killing?
If nothing else the current 200% MF in Southsun has shown that MF DOES make a big difference or at least 200% MF makes a big difference.
Depending on your build/class you also have to balance your MF against your damage output.
It may be that they are working on some kind of solution, but this has been discussed to death since the game started.
Yeah that’s why I’m not complaining. I personally think the guy who adapted the model and implemented it did an absolutely BRILLIANT job of it. That’s where the catch-22 of the whole situation comes in, in my opinion. The model is working beautifully and may be, in my opinion, one of the finest implementations of a rating system I’ve seen in this type of environment – so what do you do?
I hope you are joking there. The rating system is probably one of the worse part of WvW. Mismatched matchup that get locked into place for months hardly qualifies for “working beautifully”.
Undercutting seems a lot worse for exotic than rares, probably because more people are able/willing to buy the rares to gamble so they move faster.
I don’t think you can get the dungeon weapons. Karma is possible but I am not aware of any rare or exotic weapon available for karma.
Since other crafted weapons are possible and destroyer weapons are crafted(corrupted ones as well), I would assume you can also get destroyer weapons from it.
From throwing in rare daggers I’ve gotten back rares, the pearl exotics and some named exotics.
A little back information might be a bit more helpful into finding out your issue.
First off, you needed EotN in GW1 and you had to fill up your Hall of Monuments in GW1 in order to receive any rewards. You don’t get rewards just for linking your accounts.
The Hall of Monuments rewards you for the work you did in GW1. If you didn’t put anything in your Hall of Monuments, or didn’t even have Eye of the North expansion, you’ll get nothing in GW2.
As well, how long ago was it that you used that GW1 account? Was the account banned? If it was banned, you get nothing. Even if you did do the Hall of Monuments.
A bit more information might help.
Just linking accounts WILL give you something if you have EotN. Linking accounts give you 3 points which is enough for the shoe, pants and coat.
Just happened to me today. Will post screens and explanation…
Location: Ascalonian Catacombs path 3.
Character: Engineer
Description: We just finished eradicating the graveling burrows. We had an Elementalist dropping Ice Bows on the ground (cheers for him for making it easier) and I was using it. I also was using my Flamethrower kit. Before we were turned into ghosts I had my Flamethrower kit equipped and I was wielding one of his Ice Bows. Upon turning into ghosts I noticed my healing skill and all of my utility skills were locked.Screens attached below.
That is a much better report!
So a possible thing to check is holding bundle while the transformation gets applied. Both Engineer kits and Elementalist conjured weapons count as bundles, same with Warrior banners.
Bundles(or at least the Engineer kits) seem to generally behave badly with transformations. This is easily seen by equipping a kit and putting on a diving goggles.
As a workaround if you run into this bug going back to the character select and then loading back into the dungeon should completely undo the transformation.
When was the last time you logged into GW1 and do you have Eye of the North?
Might be wrong, but, year after the original GW released we already had Factions and Sorrow’s Furnance.
Not to mention PvP was great and you could play it endlessly.
Unless you are being delusional about the size of Sorrow’s Furnace it isn’t any bigger than Southsun Cove. The equivalent of Factions would require handing over another $60 to ANet. Not sure what you are trying to get at there.
