repping is still an important part of guilds in an internal or UI way. It decides which guild hall you go to, which guild’s stuff show up on the guild panel, to which guild’s storage an item goes (like the solid ocean fragments), and it also helps a bit with chat (you only have to type /g instead of /g1)

There will always have to be a way to swap between your guilds and I don’t see how it can get any simpler than repping.

You can enter a GH you are a member of without repping the guild.

It might look better on some races but if you want that look you can choose those skin tones at character creation or with a make over kit, for the infusion to completely change your skin tone is just annoying.

the other infusions and similar things also change your color …

obviously there were not enough complaints about the previous ones :P

I love the game and the guild system come with it. But i really don’t see the benefit of only can represent 1 guild at a time but lets you join 5 guilds. the more you play, the more you will meet some awesome people and join their guild and meet more awesome people within the guild. But the problem is most of leaders of guilds would constantly pressure people and threaten to demote or kick.

Where is the source of your data to back up that statement? When looking at posts here there are some obvious megalomaniacs but that hardly a valid sample size.

Recently a friend in one of my guild has left my guild (actually she was pretty much ask to leave) because she wasn’t representing the guild. It just really sucked to see someone i know so long have to leave not because they want to, but been pressure into leaving. She was pretty depress over the situation to the point that she didn’t play the game for days.

At best you have provided an incomplete set of details for the situation. There are plenty of other situations that can end in the same result with repping being a convenient excuse.

Something likely got messed up when the resolved the order for those characters that were on the final steps when they first reordered the Personal Story. It’s been too long for me to remember when I completed the Personal Story on my Warrior or when I got through Chapter 7 and the early part of Chapter 8. Support would likely be able to shine more light and I may redo the 4 story steps, or at least Against the Corruption, to see if the rewards pop up again. Like Khisanth, I won’t say no to another Pact Token.

Good News: You do get the rewards
Bad News: Trahearne is still a lobotomized shrub who stops moving if you are more than 2 feet away from him

Edit: Just did Source of Orr. Looks like my thief did somehow skip that since The Artesian Waters areas was not yet uncovered. I don’t think it is possible to do that step without uncovering it. Except maybe if I just stood at the spawn and someone else ran the instance. I did have to afk at the start of that at least once while a friend was doing the rest of that instance but I don’t remember if I made it back before the end.

I share the frustration and the map bonuses are unlikely to generate enough slivers for the decorations unless you solely grind them and nothing else, by which time most of Wintersday will be over.

Some of the scribing costs need rebalancing again so that festivals become less about grinding out enough materials and more about encouraging creatvitiy in decorating via making them more accessible.

Which is why you need to prioritize. Get the time limited stuff first and leave the rest for later … but I view all decorations equally I don’t care about seasons and festivals. Still need to acquire vast piles of snow.

Repping is needed for specific activities, such as getting credit for guild missions or claiming in WvW. Otherwise, how can the game award both you and your guild for doing activities. If your friend refused to rep during times that it was important to the guild to do so, then depending on the guild they may want non reppers to leave. If it was a casual PvE guild with this attitude though, she is better off finding another guild.

While that is true it only requires one person per guild.

RP walking over and not bothering to use your heal is the only way to die from that Noxious Gas. It takes around 7 seconds to walk over without swiftness. RP walk takes around 20. The gas deals 516 damage per second. Also must be a thief, guardian or elementalist to have low enough health.

Salvage the backpack you crafted. Each time you build a backpack, the last item you need from the collection you buy with globs. You salvage the backpack you make each time, until the last collection where you salvage your backpack to make one of the last gifts.

The thing is that I actually need the backpack to craft the next one. So I can’t salvage it because I will lost it :o.

Except that is wrong. Look at the actual recipes. Bound Wings requires Spirit of Finite Result. That is obtained from salvaging Finite Result.

That’s not a bug. Any attacks that require a target (such as axe 1 and 2 and staff 1) or that require an enemy trigger (staff marks) won’t work because you can’t target the structures. Switch your utility skills to your wells, and either just use the cleave on the dagger auto-attack/use scepter and dagger/use GS.

Better off buying a few flamethrowers from cursed shore or the heart in sparkfly or just bring an engi/guardian.

Charged Slivers and Glacial Fragments Prices

This would help in the prices and the ability to acquire the proper materials needed. Since there doesn’t seem to be an actual “Good” way to get the item outside of the trading post. (Especially for Charged Slivers.) The only way to acquire Glacial Fragments is either through a low level alt opening bags and having a very rare chance to get it. Or farming certain ice elemental.

I wouldn’t bother but there are other ways to get slivers and fragments. They are part of the map bonuses. For this week(ends on Thursday) it is Diessa Plateau for Charged Slivers and Iron Marches for Glacial Fragments. Just do events and you will rotate through the list of items from the map bonus.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_bonus_reward has more explanation of how map bonuses work as well as a chart of the current week’s rewards if you want to look at it that way instead of having to hover over each map.

I’m not sure how a completely seperate game mode can affect PvP, and how simply changing it so it at least puts you in the same instance that your party members are (instead of strangers) is a big problem, since the game mode is clearly working. It’s a shame though. It’s hard to enjoy it when you do it with complete strangers.

because whoever built that originally started on the eggnogs early and built a PvE thing using PvP parts. That was quite obvious with the original version since it would show your PvP gear while inside.

Thoughts about GW2 Dulfy... -.-

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

the problem is people can’t do anything without dulfy anymore.

Maybe if the game itself gave decent clues, instead of usually no clues at all?

Like the one where you need to approach one of the anomalies to start off an achievement. After seeing them all this time it never would have occurred to me that now you approach one and now it does something. No prompt from the game. Nothing. If people didn’t tell others or if I hadn’t seen it from dulfy then I’d still not have that achievement chain started.

That lack of conveyance is almost a trademark of GW2, right along with the inane “you can’t get there from here” nonsense that HoT relied on in its map designs.

So, to Dulfy and all you awesome YouTube content producers, Thank You.

Yah. Good games give you a clue. Maybe some like to wander across the countryside, cluelessly. Interacting with everything they come across no matter how many times they’ve seen it (better go interact with that 1 millionth moa you’ve seen over there, might have an achieve that triggers if you do). This game is sadly lacking. I’m not even asking for a big clue. Certainly not some interaction exclamation mark. How about if the anomaly appears and your char says, “hmmm. That one looks different,” That’ something that isn’t hand holding and is a clue that there’s a reason to go over to the one of many anomalies seen since they’ve started appearing.

Class Reviews - Should I Trust Them?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Khisanth.2948

Opinions are bias on view point, the person giving them don’t know what you yourself enjoy the most or how well or bad you play the game or class.
Also, I don’t think alot of people adjust to game changes very well or class changes, if they are old school guild wars 1 player they or we already expect it.
Every time gw1 got an update so did every class in the game, still anet continues the custom of that.
Probably always will. It keeps things interesting, there always seems to be an alpha class it kinda rotates through them Not sure if they do it intentionally or by accident, might be a little of both.

The difference between a good review and a bad review is that a good one would provide you with reasons for both the pros and the cons of whatever it is being reviewed. That way the reader can determine if that is relevant. This comes up very frequently for product reviews on sites like Amazon. There are all too many low reviews for the product that is just complaining about the shipping or the packaging. There are also ones with good rating that just says the product arrived very quickly.

Khisanth.2948

I don´t think China is a backward country… They are surprisingly advanced in a lot of things. Even their questionable things are very modern…

Indeed – China is still middle-of-the-road on a per-capita basis but because of the population, they’re a wealthy country for trading purposes. And because political decisions are based on long-term stability rather than short-term electoral victories, they can pass legislation that would be very difficult in a democracy. That can be a good or a bad thing; it’s up to them to make it work.

Also in a single party system it is very obvious which party is at fault if things are not doing well. With a 2+ party system you can always blame someone else.

As for these rates … they are probably completely determined by the Chinese publisher. ANet might not even know anything about those rates for the Chinese version.

BigGuilds vs SmallGuilds: unfair scribe costs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Just as info, leveling a scribe from 0-400 costs currently ‘only’ 350 gold, assuming you have to buy all the materials for it off the TP. (still the most expencive crafting profession to level up, but compared to the old system when it was 1K gold with the guide… (without it costs ranged from 3K-5K for the early adopters). its a lot better currently). But unlike most other professions, i Highly recommend a guide as you risk spending a lot of gold extra if you do not use one due to the way how the scribe profession works.

The cheap way requires some guild unlocks, but if your guild does not have them, feel free to mail me in game for an invite, and you can craft them in our hall (we have been offering this service ever since i wrote the innitial scribe guide). Note that currently the best scribe guide is the one from gw2crafts.net which you can find here:

http://gw2crafts.net/scribe.html

You can ofcourse also level up fully with decoration crafting but you are prone to spend way more gold that way and need to craft way more of items you probably do not need/want… and usually the best things require lv 400 scribe anyway.

Ofcourse that still leaves you with the cost of decorations, but to be honest, even in our large guild, most of the items are fully funded by the scribe crafting them. There are some exceptions ofcourse if most members really like a specific decoration and they are willing to donate, but in my experience that does not happen too often.

Personally i set aside legendary crafting and expensive skins collecting completely to level my scribe and decorate our hall instead.

I think you have just proved OP’s point about the disparity between large and small guild.

It seems like the material costs of the guild upgrades for scribing was so trivial for your large guild that you were completely oblivious to their existence. In a small guild the person leveling scribe is very likely to end up as the person paying for a large part of the upgrades as well.

The VB itzel hunter events are also very quick and they repeat very often. Sometimes you even have two running on top of each other. If you don’t mind fighting stoneheads there are two that seems to respawn nearly instantly near the VB entrance that appear after the Pale Reaver chain has pushed far enough(possibly after finishing).

Then you should just ignore all those things and just try the classes out on your own. Things shift around with patches or as people discover new ways to do things. If you are going to stick to a single class then you are going to be playing the full spectrum of good to bad through the life of the game. Probably going back and forth a few times and also depending on the game mode.

Could make this attractive by making vendors in remote places offering much more for junk than those in busy cities.
By daily making the prices variable Anet can exactly control the rate of gold supply into the game.

The only people who would even bother with that are people who currently have problem generating gold. People who are already able to generate gold will not waste their time with that. You would need to have some one very dedicated to making gold but still somehow unable to make gold using existing methods to bother doing this.

Daily prices also means daily extra dev work. This game has a lot of junk items.

Spirit Shards

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

I was wondering if it was possible to come up with a recipe that creates spirit shards. Even with the daily drops its taking quite a bit to continually get things like Auger Stones.

There are already several ways to ‘farm’ spirit shards:

  • Farm Tomes of Knowledge from PvP & WvW reward tracks. Just doing the dailies yields a ton. (see more, below, if you aren’t a PvPer or WvWer)
  • Farm XP. Fractal farms are especially good for this. The dailies in the new zones are also good, but you have to unlock/cap your Forsaken Thicket mastery (for non-raiders, this would require buying a run; see below).
  • Farm Champ Bags: silverwastes is good, or the champ train where it appears in Frostgorge (some weeks) or Orr (most days). Most people don’t notice the shards from bags, because they don’t drop into inventory and we open bags so fast, we don’t ‘see’ the pop up icon.

For those that don’t WvW, PvP, or Raid: obviously, not participating in these limits your options considerably. That’s unfortunate, since the PvP & WvW dailies can often be done ‘easily’. If you’re interested in learning how, please PM me here or in-game — I don’t want to digress for the main topic.

Similarly, for Raids: you can buy a run to unlock the mastery, which isn’t hard to max afterward. I don’t recommend it, because it’s expensive (whereas PvP|WvW dailies are lucrative), but if you want to, I’m willing to help you find a reliable runner.

The HoT containers(airship cargo, exalted chest, crystallized cache) also give spirit shards. Not sure if the champ bag like items they give are also actual champ bags which would also give a chance at shards. If so then they are probably the best.

You can also buy shards with Fractal Relics https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dessa's_Experiment_Journal

Even without full mastery just killing stuff with any lv80 character will also give spirit shards as drops. Any place where you could be killing a lot of mobs would be good. I would probably go do this in Ember Bay so I can farm karma at the same time.

Heroes don’t work well in an open world game. Especially in a game with so much active combat, do you really want a “hero” that has the ai of Braham or Rytlock? They would be completely useless like the actual npcs.

And since creating some new AI is unlikely to happen, “heroes” are also unlikely to happen.

I would like a Braham and Rytlock to have the AI of heroes. At least for some skills they were programmed to have more situational awareness rather than “I am going to use Shield of Absorption as soon as it is off cooldown”. I have no idea what Rytlock actually does besides dying.

I also use it to mark the highest priority target before engaging combat so I can easily select it in case I accidentally switch or any other issue that might come up. Concent./expertise excluded from "all stats"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

@Rauderi

Why would it tick off people that invested into those stats if they added the stats to be included? They wouldn’t have to change anything besides adding the stats to the “all stats” calculation

because all the values would need to get reduced to account for the added stats unless you are just asking for these things to get buffed

Why? It’s not like Celestial is a good stat set in PvE (it’s not even close to be mediocre). Adding Concentration and Expertise without nerfing other stats would not change that in the slightest.
It might have been different in PvP, of course, but Celestial amulet got removed from that mode completely, so it doesn’t matter.

Then OP’s post should have been “I think Celestial and the runes providing +x to all stat are currently too weak therefore they should be buffed by including expertise and concentration.” instead of beating around the bush. Ideally it would include a bulleted list of why it is too weak but that is probably expecting too much. If you are going to ask to get something for nothing then the least you can do is provide an explanation.
