https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_the_Mists

Probably need https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Metal as well

The HoT currency should be fairly minor compared to the other stuff like ~26k Elder Wood Logs and Mithril Ore.

You are also going to have to hand over around 180g/190g to Miyani for recipe sheets and the Mystic Runestones. With the other stuff you can avoid having the gold to by gathering the items yourself or waiting for the Mystic Coins but these are unavoidable gold requirements.

You will also need a Ball of Dark Energy which means salvaging the cheapest piece of weapon or armor you can get your hands on. This is around 60g right now for an ascended shield.

Khisanth.2948

The problem lies in the collections that require silver (Hivemaster…).

But to address the specific case, as Ayrilana mentioned, the key to SS is treating it as a gliding skill-assisted race, and not as a jumping puzzle (use rush when gliding to speed it up and extend distance, use untargeted jump for small jumps, use targeted jump not to jump forward, but up – and start gliding)

My biggest stumbling block on that adventure is just not knowing where to go. I’ve done the JP itself, and can see the checkpoints but I always always always forget where to go as soon as it starts

It’s just a counterclockwise spiral up the side of the room.

I think only Hivemaster requires silver as all the others you can get copper in. Since Hivemaster is simply optional, needing silver adds to the prestige.

Hivemaster, Astralaria, HOPE, Nevermore, all require Silver but none of those require silver in Sanctum Scramble.

Enjoy the Part 1 collection. The Part 2 collection is where crafting hell takes over.

My recommendation: examine Part 2 before completing the staff from Part 1.

I say this because my math shows that Part 2 is actually more expensive than just buying The Legend off the Trading Post (assuming you place a buy order rather than using a buy now). The staff from Part 1 takes a lot of spiritwood (not as much as in Part 2, but still a lot). Once you do that, you have a significant financial investment in the result.

part 2 is slightly under 400g. buying it is over 800g

However as soon as you craft any of the parts for The Legend Experiment the price difference no longer matters.

It should also be noted that once activated you don’t have to do them in order nor do you have to actually complete them except in cases where completion is required to get credit for the achievement. I mean if there are two instances A and B and you are trying to do the ones in B you don’t need to complete A first. You can just head over to the starting point of B.

There’s no way to do this within the game, but I think some keyboards allow you to change the function of keys (so for example the F1 key is now F3) and to save pre-sets. There might be software which enables you to do this with regular keyboards too, but I’m not sure what it’d be called.

It would be fairly easy to do with autohotkey and you can make it only affect GW2 which would probably be more convenient than something that affects the whole system.

They’d have to go back and disable portals, gliding and stuff like shadowstep in all the JP zones, otherwise they’d be ridiculously easy to farm (like right now). Probably more work than they care about doing.

But agreed: the rewards are awful. Did Malchor’s Leap or whatever it’s called the other day. Took at least an hour and lots of pain and misery. Reward was some greens. Yay…

What they would need is add checkpoints into every JP but checkpoints also bring their own problems as seen with Chalice …

Both JPs in Malchor’s Leap are easy. o_O

At least half of the 12 orbs you need for that one JP are hidden in places you’d never find without a guide.

They are all easy once you know where they are. Any suggestion made without considering the fact that they can be repeated is making a big mistake.

Elonian Leather price

Khisanth.2948

As far as I remember there weren’t any significant changes when silk went from the most expensive T5 material, the major barrier to crafting ascended etc. etc. to barely above vendor value, which is where it was before.

1) the rare silk insignias went from requiring 2 bolts to 1.6, masterwork from 1 to .8
2) indirect reduction in demand because patches now require cloth and leather but in unequal quantity. The ratio of cloth to leather for the patches is 4:10. If cloth gets generated at a higher ratio then the leather becomes a bottleneck and cloth starts accumulating waiting for the leather. With enough accumulated the price will drop.
3) massive sinks were introduced for leather in the form of guild hall upgrades. that damages the balance between cloth and leather
4) silk scraps sell for approximate 5x vendor price. Spool of Silk Weaving Thread is still 1.2g because you have to multiply scrap price by 300

Insignias went from requiring just cloth to cloth plus leather with leather being required in greater quantities than the cloth is not a significant change? It shifts the barrier from cloth to the leather.

I usually try and tip mesmers who provide ports for the daily JPs, but some characters have funny names with dots above the letters of their name which you cant type on a normal kbd.

If you are able to click on their character then you can just right click on their portrait and select “Send Mail”.

You can also type those characters using alt codes http://www.codetable.net/altkeycodes

Slightly related, but recently I received a salty mail in game from a guy with weird characters in his name which I was unable to replicate to be able to block him from sending me mails, I was actually appearing offline so that’s why he used this method to call me some undesirable names shall we say, anyway my point is, there should be an option in the mail UI to block sender, seems its been overlooked.

Click reply and copy it from the “To:” field.

There isn’t any substantive savings by collecting Dawn versus buying it. The precursor runs 600-700g on the TP and 600-700g in do-it-yourself mats, so there’s no savings from collecting it, if you use custom offers to purchase. (e.g. you can sell your 700g worth of mats to get 595g, which you can use to put in a 600g offer — that’s a wash within the estimation process).

You can save from 176g to 285g crafting it yourself but around 160g of that comes from making your own deldrimor steel which means 90 days of time gating unless you already have the mithrillium.

And there are many that purposely troll/grief the event just so those that finish the FE event can’t access the Steam Ogre. I often feel that are the majority that open the event before FE. They could come anytime to use one of their keys but chose to do it before FE.

It only prevents those players who do FE from doing the steam creature within at most a 15 minute window. All players are able to do the event after the cool down provided that one of them has the completed key.

You don’t even need the key anymore …

Matrix Cube Key Cool Down.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

The Steam creature event is just something that players decided amongst themselves to do after FE since the fire portion of the key typically gets completed then. It should not be locked to the FE event. Players are free to do it whenever they want.

Generally speaking, sure. However this particular event has spawned a wave of event griefers who intentionally trigger the event within a certain time frame in a direct attempt to prevent all of the world boss train players from being able to participate. The masses have a larger right to participate in this event than any single player does, and the game designers have a responsibility to ensure that that larger right is protected against intentional abuse.

So is it griefing to do events out of order in FGS when there’s a group of players farming them? No player or group of players hold ownership of events including when they can be done. This particular event is on a 15 min timer so if players really must do it then they can wait. Whether or not someone does it during the pre-events doesn’t matter. Now if they verbally brag about it in map/local then you can report them.

When a player consistently triggers events in a targeted effort to deny other players access to content, it is griefing whether they brag about it or not.

If they don’t brag, you can’t really report them, but you can ask for some common-sense modifications to the game to make this form of griefing impossible.

Players are only being denied the ability to do that particular event immediately after FE. That’s it. If they wait ~15 min then they can do it.

Right, during the ~15 minutes when people are actually on that map…

Well if they need/want to do that event then they can wait. No different than any other event that has a cool down after it has been completed.

Like when have to sit around waiting for a bunch of different events to spawn while making Nevermore …

Does the tarir event in AB need tweaking.

Leadership runes too expensive

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

But the Leadership runes costing so many drop-only, maybe-you’ll-get-one items, which require a key item to get… that’s just a groin kick. Especially for a zone that requires special permission to get into the One Sacred Map. I’d really like to see a way to use other zone materials to buy the crystalline ore, even if it’s just a limited per day purchase.

Noxious pods give a minimum of 1 Crystalline Ore so there is no maybe. The maybe is only for a chance to get more from each pod.

Unfortunately, that is not consistent with observation. I have opened pods and gotten no ore. And the rate of gain via pods is brutally low, even on a map that’s doing the meta. So needing to open at least 600 pods for one full set is a huge grind. 150 is a much more appropriate number in relation to the effort the other HoT rune sets take.

The April update, which basically made everything a lootpocalypse, guarantees 1, 3, 10, or 14 Crystalline Ore from every pod. Since that update I have obtained enough Crystalline Ore for my needs before evening finishing Dragon’s Stand itself, which is in increments of 50-150. If you aren’t getting any Ore, file a bug report, but I highly doubt you are getting ZERO Ore. Only Crystallized Supply Caches do not have a guaranteed drop of the map’s currency.

The 1 minimum was like that even before the April patch. I noticed that when was making Astralaria. Initially I thought the crystalline ores were going to be the most annoying to obtain but it turned out to be ley line sparks because back then the ley line sparks had a much lower drop rate and was random but the ore was always at least 1.

Where are the Flail weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Personally, this is my favorite weapon and it is almost never in any mmo-games. I just don’t understand. It is such a classical weapon!

Actually, it isnt a classical weapon. Even though these days it is more commonly mentioned in movies, books etc. about the middle ages, there is little historical evidence that they were commonly used. Some flails were used, of course, for example during the 16th century German peasant war but that wasnt because of their handiness in battle. They were simply harvesting tools and used because they couldnt afford regular weapons, just like pitchforks, to give a popular example.

The picture you have linked does show a “weaponized” flail, with metal chains and spiked heads, which seems to be made by a blacksmith.
However, if someone had the money to have a blackmsmith make a custom weapon for him, he would have probably opted for a sword, which is much easier to wield in battle.
No knight in his right mind would choose such a flail, with three chains and morningstars. This is probably the clumsiest melee weapon I have ever seen. Just imagine two of those connecting with your target and the third chain missing, swinging back and hitting your hand or arm. The spikes would continously hit each other or the chains during combat as well.
Thats why you wont find one of those in any history museum. Because they didnt exist.

or the spikes get embedded in the enemy’s shield and now you have no weapon :P

To be fair though, that could happen with a sword or an axe as well. One-ended flails actually might have some use as weapons but definately not flails with 3 ends.

It was more about the spikes than sword versus flail

This is quite simply a ridiculous complaint especially when u consider how much cost goes into the new legendaries such as the Eureka one. Amalgamated gemstones aside, take a look at how many shard of endeavors are required for precursor and legendary crafting combined.

That’s almost 300 shards, with each a base crafting cost of 2.5g by today’s market. You can figure out what the total cost is, I’m sure. It’s even worse than the problem u are having. Plus I didn’t get to buy any of them with laurels either, since I didn’t realise there was a cap of once per day. So I literally had to throw all that gold down the sink, had no other way out.

I’d you don’t wanna farm for mats then pls be realistic abt it. You don’t go trying to farm mystic coins, u buy them from tp. Solution: join a gold farm, make about 20g/hr on the lower end and that equates to abt 70 leather/hr. Stop complaining that leather is too hard to find

On the other hand Eureka is the cheapest of the HoT legendary…

Even on a low tier you could still flip a camp … so this that would just be an easier version of the daily camp capturer
