Here are my observations today – petrified wood and unbound magic balls refreshed 2 hours after reset. The account max for harvested nodes was hit about 5 hours before reset on a completely different alt than the one that observed no nodes 1 hour after reset.
This behavior seems significantly different from Bloodstone Fen, where I have never observed a failure to reset the unbound magic balls or bloodstone nodes immediately after reset.
I’ve had it happen frequently in BF. Haven’t ran into it yet in EB but that might be because I’ve mostly stopped playing in both. Changing instance “fixed” the issue for me when I ran into it in BF so it might be a slightly different issue.
I’ve never hit the limit on those orbs either.
The fight with Mordremoth was okay but there is not much appeal on replays. It just drags on for too long. I would have preferred it if they left out the ghost of Christmas past, present and future …
Not too easy or too hard?
And there’s the hitch. Too easy or too hard for who?
i remember when i was fighting zhaitan i had no idea what was going on and he just….died.
sort of lost whatever faith i had in the game’s pve right then and there.I remember getting owned in that fight on the airship back at launch. Lol. There were swarms of risen and AOE everywhere. I was on my new level 80 with rare armor/weapons (which was pretty standard for that time. I don’t think the average person had exotics back then and there were no ascended gear). Now the actual fight with the dragon was easy. But the fight against the oncoming mobs was not. Not for players in rare or even masterwork gear, which is probably what that fight is tuned for
So the problem is do they revamp the mobs for exotics/ascended or leave them at the masterwork/rare level. Because it’s going to be too hard or too easy for someone no matter what they do.
The AoE that is thrown at you while you are one the turret seems to have increased damage compared to the original … I remember being able to stand in them without much issue or at least have plenty of time to move out of the way if necessary. Now they can one shot. The rest of that fight is a snore …
Uh … did you go to the correct spot?
Elitist PUGS, who knew :P
Fractals tier 4 may be different, where agony infusions are a must, and ascended gear is needed. Raids – nah.
You can get 150 AR from trinkets alone but given the price of the infusions it isn’t really a useful alternative to getting the weapons and armor.
Vanquishing sounds really cool, but most zones are huge. The possibility to miss just 1 or 2 enemies in these maps is stupidly high, and even if there were a counter, having to go back and find them all would be challenging.
However, it would be cool to see this for dungeons, along with the no respawn mechanic (though rezzes would be allowed). Not only are the maps smaller, but there isn’t anywhere for mobs to “hide”. The mobs are a lot tougher than open world mobs since most of them are elites. To completely vanquish a dungeon you would have to vanquish each explorable mode. Bonuses could be awarded appropriately, possibly granting you +10% increased dungeon tokens per run per each path vanquished, with a 20% bonus for completely vanquishing the dungeon (so if you completely vanquish it, you would receive 150% as many tokens for each path you complete from then on out).
It would require a few parts to be tweaked where there are endless adds, but I think its completely doable.
That would also require resuming work on dungeons …
There is also the problem of mobs for all paths being around but you can’t access all parts of the instance.
“Just be glad I am not using Rune of the Mad King as well.”
No, the damage difference is so small it practically wont matter. However a full raid team having it will increase dps by quite a bit. But If anything, go for ascended weapons and trinkets, everything else is just to small of a difference to worry about imo
I figured as much. “Its neither here nor there but can be helpful.” Was what i was thinking.
Not really. It simply offers a greater margin for errors. In a group of random people that is a very desirable thing.
I don’t think I’d want a sign over my head pointing me out as a noob. If nothing else it would make those people with a sign over their head pointing out their noobness targets for those that like to troll or scam the ones who don’t know how the game works.
A sign that can be extremely inaccurate for various reasons.
That is not a bug. You need to clear the event to the south for the nodes to appear. There are a couple of other places in the game like that.
Not really. The .dat was already fairly large even before HoT.
Some are useful in specific circumstances while others are not but that is also true for normal class skills too.
The default should be “download on demand” that can be changed in the settings. IIRC the initial download is just the starter instances, starter maps and racial cities. The total size of the dat is somewhere in the 20s of GB. Mine is 28.7 but that includes some extra cruft from playing since beta.
meh … that is just how high the damage burst are in this game
I didn’t notice they made a sound.
I think the green one from the Deluxe version of HoT does, but I’ve never noticed any of the others and I’ve been using the bat wings on my main character for a year now.
When you open the bat wing glider there’s a sail-flap-in-the-wind sound, followed by a wind-in-you-ears sound. Certainly no freight train sound that the op is talking about.
I actually barely notice it.
The sail flap in the wind sound also occurs when using lean techniques. If you turn your volumes high enough it does resemble a train. I don’t see a reason to ever crank the volume up that high though …
Fine here as well but I might be one of those crazy people who actually uses the sound options sliders as well as my computer’s mixer.
If you bought it recently you can probably get a refund.

They can be traded but many are not profitable to make. I haven’t looked through all of them but at least in one case the crafting cost is around 3 times the resell value.
This is for the original set of precursors. All the HoT precursors and legendary are account bound
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
That way, even if you’ll never be able to use it on another character again, you can still transfer the soulbound item from one character to another for forging purposes.
or crafting in the case of the guild weapons …
Ran some simulations assuming a 1 in 10 chance of getting it … the worse case scenario seems to be around 170 chests required to open. A 1 in 10 chance does not mean everyone will get it within 10. 36 is not even at the median yet
One thing that bugs me is that the back items for the Order collections (the exotic level items) are soulbound on acquire. That was… unexpected, and I ended up getting two on a character since I had the currency for the last bit of it.
I’m not even sure what the point of soulbound, as opposed to accountbound, is.
Ended up with the same along with a mistward boot on a thief …
On the other hand I have no use for exotic back items anymore so there is that. Maybe the dev assumed that was the case for everyone else as well but that would mean they purposely added a useless reward.
Looks like it was just one NPC so it was probably a case of someone not stopping to think when they need to sell the junk and sigils and runes rather than a troll.
There was two different chests with merchants inside them. It’s happened a lot over the last month. Trolling or not; an exclusion zone would stop this.
May or may not be done on purpose. I usually see a merchant pop up in front of the last chest, which can be considered a courtesy, but at the same time, it has a bad habit of blocking the chest unless you walk all the way behind it.
That said, bolded part is fully agreed with. Player-created spawns should never overlap with other interactables, including other player spawns. Range 100 would be sufficient, probably.
I actually just ran into that situation earlier but there is no need to walk anywhere since you can just click on the chest. Especially on the last chest which as a fairly large model.
The only thing I can see that they might have a problem with changing some soulbound stuff to account bound, would be things like heart rewards, personal advancement rewards and the like.
You would only have to have one toon finish everything and then all the rest could get whatever he/she accomplished. Not that most of those things make a difference, but maybe there are some that do.
Pretty sure people are only referring to items so stuff like hearts would be irrelevant.
Even if they aren’t there is no need to take it to that extreme.
Hobbs’ only purpose seems to be replacing a couple drop only items. I think the sap from Bloomhunger for HOPE can be replaced through that.
There is already a built in way to repeat this for a bit of gold. You do the JP but don’t complete the last bit where you open the chest. Then you can pay the skritt that will let you use the tunnel to teleport back to last checkpoint you encountered. That should give you 2 hours to try the dive before having to pay again.
That might be from one of the decorations.
You can look up damage calculations here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage
There is no diminishing returns, but condition duration and boon duration is capped at 100% and more than 100% crit chance is useless too for obvious reasons.
They are capped at 100% but more can 100% condition duration can still have a use if the target has reduced condition duration but that is pretty much a WvW only issue.

Silver used to be quite a bit higher.
You are probably correct. It leaves a really sour taste in my mouth, though…
Now that the BL chests have been effectively reduced from 3 potential drops to 2, and now that the drop table has seen a significant reduction in possible items, I don’t see myself spending money on BL keys again. If I had the extra gold, I would purchase the remaining home instance nodes now before the prices start to spike, but I don’t, so I guess home instance completion is taking a back seat once again.
On the other hand you are no longer wasting gold/money on bad gambles! That could be counted as an improvement.
Yeah, not like I am looking a gift horse in the mouth or anything but almost every chest I have read about today listed a tot bag. Really, you can get one of those easily during the festival or buying them off the TP. Am I the only one who will not use my key until next week? I assume it will revert to a normal chest after the festival is done?
Will chests opened during wintersday include a wintersday present as one of the 3 items? Yikes!
Seems that way …
Every chest contains a guaranteed seasonal item that will change regularly.
So they will probably give ToT bags until it switch over to Wintersday Gifts.
The amalgamated gemstones set a minimum but with those price it is pretty much irrelevant for Crest of the Assassin.
As for gold doubloons … did you mix things up? There are four doubloons and gold is the second cheapest.
No, just if you listen to the forums and make decisions based on it, you might make one group happy but likely tick off another.
Replacing something people considered to have a low value with one that has even less value is not an improvement.
When people ask for change they generally expect improvements. Change is not automatically good, this also applies to all the people asking for balance. Just because there is a change doesn’t automatically mean there were improvements made.
tot bag , transmute charge, ticket scrap
not the worst ever… the tot bag is a kick in the _ _ _ _ _ though
Use to be a booster. Rarely saw anybody jump up and down about a booster. At least you can sell ToT bags.
Plus it’s looking like the 2nd slot is common and the 3rd slot is uncommon. If you get a fourth slot, that’s the rare/super rare.
A booster is 100 gems. That puts it in the 20-30g range. A ToT bag is less than 20s at the peak.
I got the ToT bag, an unidentified dye and a transmutation charge so your theory is also wrong.
Anyone foolish enough to buy these shouldn’t be complaining.
They are never a good purchase in any game where they are available. This should have been even more obvious with the 1 free key and seeing 1/3 slot being forced into being a junk item(ToT bag).
The best thing about the preview is that I no longer have to dig through patch notes to figure out what is the current weapon skins being dropped by the BLC.
What are the chances of this getting added to the API?
Something like “/v2/container/<container item id>” returning the list of items you can see with the preview.
Meh … that HP sucks but it’s like it is unique in that respect. GW2 is just not the game to play if you want well designed fights.
Considering the combat system is probably GW2’s strongest point, that’s really depressing. But yeah, encounter design is one of GW2’s weakest points, which is even more depressing. And it’s not just the HPs, but even some of the basic enemies that just aren’t designed well.
OP nails it with his assessment, though. Huge AoE bombs in a small corridor on a champ is a sign the devs rub their hands going “huehuehue” whenever they put things like this in. The one time I recall doing it (I hate TD, so I don’t go there much), it was me and two others. We pulled the queen out a bit to the broader area of the corridor, giving just a bit of room to dodge and flank. Ended with the other two downing/defeated and me scraping by on a thief. Lots of distractions with Thieves Guild and Ambush.
I don’t remember if it has a charge or dash skill but many mushrooms do and pulling it out would be risky if it did. It could use its own skill and trigger its own leash mechanic. That is another thing that is extremely annoying with combat in this game where a mob will trigger its own leash and then just heals back to full health. Actually ran into that with a champion coalescence in EB the other day. What was even worse is that this occur while neither player was moving and it was still withing 600-900 range of the mob’s spawn.
It just means you need to wait an additional month …
Uh … for some stupid reason the spirit of whatever also has a vendor value …
I generally toss them into the bank as soon as I get them to avoid potential accidents
Does anyone know if a bloodstone capacitor can still be used to reset the stats on a blood ruby backpack that has been transmuted with another skin on to it? If this works, does it cause the skin to be reset similar to how it loses existing upgrades?
You can still use the capacitor to reset the stat after you skin it.
Using the capacitor will basically destroy the existing item and generate a new one. The skin gets reset back to the default because of this. That is also the reason it will destroy infusions.
Wiki unfortunately doesn’t say – I’m curious as well – but in reading the wiki , it brought up another question: does it only reset equipped items, or one of each type in the inventory of the character? I’d hate for someone to lose infusions in an item sitting in their inventory, not equipped, that they had no idea it was going to affect.
Consume to emit a pulse of magic that resets one of each type of Blood Ruby gear in your inventory. This will destroy any infusions socketed in those items.
It only affects items in your inventory. It does not affect equipped items.
This was tested by having 1 skins back item equipped and 1 ring unequipped. Using the capacitor only affected the ring. Re-equipped the ring, took off the back and used another capacitor and it reset the back this time.
It would be nice if the capacitor showed you the items it is about to reset similar to how salvage all shows you the items it is about to salvage.

Killing the infinite stream of destroyers is much faster than running around to wake up skritts …
Crit heals would honestly be extremely OP
Alternatively it could also be terrible because it would be unreliable.
Actually it could be a lot like forcing everyone to use the Rev’s Shiro heal …
It’s soloable. Did it several times with different classes. Yes, it’s a bit of annoying if you die, but not worth a post in this forum. With the correct weapons you can pull them separately btw.
Them? OP said “it”. You seem to be thinking of the wrong HP. Your description sounds like Mushroom Spore Cloud at the end of Beetle Feast. For that one fighting isn’t even necessary.
Except for the fact that it will take you years to acquire ascended gear in any way other than crafting. I’ve been playing for 3 years and I’ve literally had a single ascended drop.
So, in this way, we don’t really have the choice not to craft if we want ascended gear. Crafting is the only surefire way to acquire it. Please don’t tell me that we have multiple other options, because we simply don’t.
3 years and a single ascended drop means you don’t do Fractals. I refuse to believe your RNG is so bad that you haven’t had more drops in all that time. Trust me, next to crafting, Fractals is the best way to acquire ascended gear. I have 9 ascended characters and 10 sets of ascended gear (that’s full ascended gear, so armor, weapons and trinkets). Only 3 armor sets were crafted (for the Ascended Accoutrement achievement), the rest is obtained during a period of 4 to 5 months of daily (high level) Fractals. I crafted some weapons but most were also drops. And I’ve some drops outside of Fractals, though I admit that this last option is too rare to build up one or more full ascended gear sets. You do have choices, but that’s not to say anything will drop anywhere at any time.
Yeah, I refuse to believe it too! I’m all the way up to level 82 Fractals and I’ve only gotten that one ascended drop (from fractals, coincidentally). I heavily considered contacting Anet and telling them that my account is bugged with an RNG from hell. I even have 93% MF.
I suppose I assumed that this was normal to acquire only one ascended drop in this amount of time and that everyone had the same luck as me…. but I suppose that’s not the case. So, fractals and crafting are the options.
Scale 82 doesn’t really mean much.
The thing not mentioned is that while fractals have a decent drop rate for ascended that is from the tier 4 chests. That also means MF means absolutely nothing in that regard. If you aren’t doing the t4s then it’ll mostly be some infused rings.
93% MF was around the point where I noticed that rares actually started dropping rarely as opposed to never so I wouldn’t expect too much out of MF regardless.
The fractal masteries make a big difference too, the second and third tiers improve and give bonus rewards from chests and encryption boxes
Hmm not sure about that one since the mastery refers to a chest that doesn’t exist anymore.
You do not have forever though. These all have a time limit.
The range of (some) attacks is staggeringly farther than what we are used to. It’s not enough to stealth; you also have to take evasive action.
I agree with you on everything but stealth. Seems to me a lot of mobs in Bloodstone Fen ignore stealth. I’ve tested it a few time and I’ve been hit while stealthed.
Were the attacks already en route when you stealthed? An attack that the AI has already assigned to you will not be negated by stealth.
Indeed. I’m 95% positive that I’ve never been attacked while stealthed. I have been hit while stealthed, because there are several ways that can happen:
- The projectile was in motion before going into stealth and I didn’t change my course.
- I got hit by a projectile heading towards some other hapless adventurer gliding blissfully unaware of the dangers.
- I was hit by AoE from above or unrelated foes.
tl;dr I doubt very much if any foes ignore stealth as much as it’s not enough to become invisible; you also have to change your course (and avoid projectiles heading towards other people in the area, people that you might not see).
changing course doesn’t matter since the projectiles will change to match
Edit: Oh hey … more BS in BF. White Mantle Elementalist fireballs also changes direction mid flight if you dodge.

Well everyone is certainly making me feel a lot better about this. Haha. Your story is also hilarious. My god lmao.
But just like you, and others have said we’ve all made those dumb errors. Some funner than most. But hey WE GOT A GOOD LAUGH SO WORTH??
I’ll for sure look back on this like a year from now and laugh myself into a coma. It’ll be great~ Thanks for sharing the story!
Let me fix that for you!
Go open the wardrobe and then look at all the harpoon gun skins that you want on a rifle but will never be able.

There are only two types, the enrichment ones that only goes into amulets and the rest that goes into everything else.
