Dear Anet…seriously…why so much hate ?
I still can’t believevwhat you did during all these past years.
Nerf to confusion: 50%
Blinding trait nerf
Sword 2 nerf => lost unvulnerabilty …takes retaliation and can be interrupted with longer cool down
…nothing to compensate except pu which is useless in mass fight & pvp and only good at taking camp in roaming
Sd thief jungernaut hard countering mesmers
Mesmer out of meta for more than one year in high pvp with all top mesmers rerolling (one exception is helseth but he consider himself he would me more efficient on a thief)
Now we get this “bugfix”
Honestly anet… try to think two minutes….

This is becoming a real concern.
90% of professions updates have been skill fact fixing for more months.

It is a slap in my face that it is possible to fix so much skill facts (I was not guessing there could be so much effort required)

So much time and effort for so few added value for me.
To be honest when I really want to have a precise idea on the complete behavior of a skill or trait I go on the wiki.

I would trade all these skill facts for real true bug fixing.

Philosophy:
Mesmer are veil bot (what they call utility)
Ele have utility (better ones) but can dish much more damage
Warriors weakness :they rely on their class mechanics (seems that clicking on F1 is considered as a weakness for warriors) and can be killed when their defense are down and they take hudge damage (condition damage)

…I feel so sad for mesmer trying to remain.

Most epic one for me: weaknesses of warriors (Dev quote):

Little ability to deal with enemy boons
Reliant on adrenaline to use many abilities
Can become overwhelmed by conditions if their defenses expire

=>If I read carrefully, the only weakness I really see here is that warriors seem to not be the best at boon removal.
I see a lot of professions that would trade all their weakness for this one.

This I am sorry but I don’t get it.
Little ability to deal with enemy boons => does it mean they have poor boon removal ?
If yes isn’t it the case of all professions except mesmers necro & thief ?

Reliant on adrenaline to use many abilities => is there a profession not reliant on its core ability ?

Can become overwhelmed by conditions if their defenses expire => do you mean by taking too much, warrior can possibly die ? If yes isn’t it also the case on all classes ?

In the end are you saying that warrior weakness is that
-some profession may be stronger on boon removal than them.
-they have to do something to be successful (using their abilities)
-are not complete god mode that can possibly die sometimes if stars are well aligned ?

Yes, you as in its a waste of your time trying to talk sense, which you are trying to do.

Perma vig is all the thief rage and no one can deny only the thief can get it.

I would ask someone to post a build in which thief can get perma vigor, but I suspect people will avoid it or try to talk up some other aspect.

Here is engie perma vigor, no one moaning about that?

Awesome logic…5 thieves is not optimal for tpvp thus there is no ballance issue. “End of story”. Sometimes I feel thieves community is made of Croods Obscurantism and reality denial.

The reason for the change was because Blurred Frenzy had no countermeasures beforehand. When in use, a mesmer was invincible as even environmental hazards did nothing to them .

So please tell me what are the counter measure on zerker stance / endure pain / spammy evade ?
These latests make it still possible to move and are much longer. Maybe that is why they were not nerfed

You forgot to say that a Thief player has the less interest of having his profession nerfed.
If you feel your class is ok it is obviously because you should be terrible at it or feel comfortable powning every thing on unfair rules.

We absolutely want to make build templates. They could work similar to GW1, but there are more components to a build now. Using the old string-code method may prove to be unwieldy.

Things that must be in a template:

  • Weapons
  • Sigils
  • Rune
  • Amulet
  • Skills
  • Traits

What could be in a template:

  • Skins
  • Dyes
  • Outfit
  • Finisher

Things to consider:

  • Sharing (chat links? codes? urls?)
  • Viewing (seeing some else’s vs. seeing your own)
  • Saving (notepad vs. local vs. account vs. web)
  • Building (one spot in UI vs. multiple spots)
  • Websites (third-party sites should work with in-game)
  • APIs (Could expose an API to third-parties)
  • PvP vs PvE vs WvW (each mode requires different configuration options)

How would you like to see any/all of these work?

Great idea. We need it !!!My remarks / concerns.
Must be part is sufficient.
But how to manage weapon switch when they are no more in inventory ? Put a fictive one with default skin ?

Template sharing is nice also but not mandatory. Coumd be managed on second priority level.

Best mesmers are hard countered by thieves.
It has been the case for more than one year and I do not see it changing.
They broke mesmer even more on last patch (distortion became an evade)
From what I have seen …remaining mesmers in high level need a thief to support them against other thieves. And PU seems not to bring enough added value to a team at high level. And no to be 200 on leaderboards means nothing (I reached around 300 in dozen of games without being more than an average player)

eviscerate has huge tell, and kill shot… just lol.

i actually expected this patch to be rather underwhelming…and just won another 30g from my guild as i predicted that they will break mes again. distortion now not invul anymore….and yes tested iwarden…still stands around or spends most of its lifespawn chasing after enemies rather than attacking…

Fixed a bug where mesmer could avoid dying instantly while putting pointlessly a feed-back on an hammer train.
Promotion of high risk no reward.

I think feed-back should be rephrased (some nice tooltip work to do and we all know anet loves tooltip fixing:

Last November, the leaderboard rankings were all reset. However, the history of matches played, and win percentage, remained.

So it is probably an alternate account, and he probably got like 10 wins and 23 losses last year. Then, this year, he got 12 wins and 1 loss. Or something like that. So his “real” record is something like 12-1.

But I am still surprised that you can get top 16 with 20 victories. In the screen you have another guy who is rank 12 with 21 games (17 won). Is soloqueue population soo low ?

dmg done/received = 0 for 1 min is afk for sure

maby when close gates on enemy team and dont let respawn the next dead player so game is a 4v4 it would be a step

Dangerous idea IMHO…it would make possible to a loosing team to decide to switch to 4v4 …up to 1v1 with carrefully selecting when they have to (waiting for the good opponent to be dead and thus out of play)

Hi guys,

I was just having a look at GW2 solo queue leaderboards and I found some surprising results: see attached file.

How can a player with so few games and such a low ratio in victory (11th worst of top 1000 currently) become 16 ?

Did he win against world champions 4vs5 on last 22 match-ups ?
If yes how can a player have to play to a surprisingly so high level with so few history games ?

Honestly I don’t understand how it is possible.

Before I was a mesmer.
Now with my guard, I do not feel Op and cheesy like braindead warriors but I feel I am usefull and strong. It is night and day with my old poor mesmer.
Still feel sad for mesmers. They are a dead class left alone for mass fights.

Then you obviously don’t know how to play a mesmer. A mesmer has more support utilities than a guard.. the time warp being quite sexy when dropped right (so I have been told). And with a phantasm build, can have pretty high damage to a single target. The Shatter build having rather insane damage. I do agree they don’t shine in trash or group fights but can’t have everything. Calling it a dead class.. lololol. And I main a guard.

So in the end you don’t knwo what is playing a mesmer in large scale fight.
Talking about phatasm mesmer is the sign that you and me are indeed not playing at the same level of number of player implied in the fight.
Sexy time warp and veil is not sufficient.

Yep, guardians are great. At the spec we have.

Which is what mesmer would like to be for more than one year.

My personal thougths:
You have to understand that Anet concern and Player concern are not the same.
1) Anet: how to make money
2) Player: how to have fun playing the game
To have 1) you need to provide buyable content. Easiest way is to encourage player coming to the cash shop on already existing content.
- Gems to manage always more important list of objects in your inventory
- Gems to manage additional character slots encouraged on making pvp more grindy and charcter deletion a real pain.
In other words the strategy is to make the game grindy and character development costly.
Balance not fixed can be a strategy to push hard players on specific classes. Once a the new grindy stuff is in place it can be intersting for Anet to change the meta and push to other professions.

To get 2) you need new content and good balance. New content is expensive. Good balance will not push player to re-roll on new character slots.

So when will we have a good balance ? : never.
When the meta will change ?: once all grindy stuff is in place. Let’s hope that everything will be in place in April.

There is a good news for pvp however. Pvp will now represent a financial interest.

Note: there is another way to make money: e-sports but this is not at the good level for Gw2 today. Grinding is the B plan.

Nerf to mesmers / minor tweaks to thieves (if not buff with the immobilize) sounds reasonnable.

I have the strange feeling that real balance problems are not closed to be solved.

I really liked this game when it came out… gonna do some WvW before wildstar comes out I guess. You made some really bad choices with your PvP anet, but I know you had good intentions. Your pve is good, I guess you cant be good at everything.

Honestly if you didn’t appreciate what they did to gw2 DO NOT GO FOR Wild Star !!!
Both games belongs to NC Soft.
And I beleive some NC Soft guys are really happy to have old gw2 players upset going to buy their new game.

And frankly, I don’t see any indication of Pistol Whip receiving any more QQ than any other Thief ability. To me this sounds like selective reading.

That’s not to say there aren’t issues with it.

Pistol Whip is mechanically similar to Blurred Fenzy, an attack a lot of Mesmer builds build around. Pistol Whip is essentially a spammable form of Blurred Frenzy with an added stun.

You could remove, nerf the stun, but that would make it too similar to Blurred Fenzy.

So if we remove one of its strenghts (stun), it will be similar to a spammable skill of the mesmer. That would be for sure much much much overnerf.

Hope people are seeing what is the problem now

Remove control it has on foe and the spammable capability.

Thief main since beta, if that is important.
PW is not unbalanced it mirrors other chained sword skills of other professions (blurred frenzy, hundered blades e.g.).

It is indeed well known that blurred frenzy stuns and can be spammable.
Seems you do not main a mesmer (if that is important).

2 years have passed. And people still complain about HS.
Hs was already nerfed. It has obvious and long animation. No evade frames. User of HS CANNOT interrupt it. Thief using hs can’t dodge, can’t block, can’t stealth, can’t move.
I can imagine troubles eles have with certain thief builds, but hs spam? Then this game is not for you, at least on ele. Besides engi, I can’t imagine any other class to be able to punish HS spam as much as ele can.

This one is so nice….
One must be a thief to say such things….
Skill so weak…no evade… no stealth …no move…lol
Indeed if benchmark for thief is that skill is unblockable, perma root target, provide stealth and is also a stun breacking evade then indeed HS need a hudge buff.

Was he talking about the coming vigor nerf ? or about the on clone death traits nerf ?

Or was he talking on a future feature patch in december ?
I know i’d better stay tuned and hold my breath but I fear to die holding it for so long ;-)
