From an ESL perspective I have heard Sid raising ROM is the best duellist.
But ok it comes from a thief perspective…maybe too contextual.
Having challenges lots of builds (medi trap / bunker dh / bunker vanilla / burn vanilla / burn dh), having carrefully looked at esl tournaments and latest tournaments managed by helseth and sid) I came to the conclusion that dh brings nothing worth.
It is by far the weakest prof…yes far behind revenants who still have an important role in teamfights.
Donc waste tour time with this prof…Karl designed it in à lazzy way…ranger vanilla 2.0.
I switched to ele thief mesmer engi and ranger. This is à blast how things suddenly get managable.

I run this. Swap menders amulet for marauders when you have a dedicated support ranger/ele. Stow your weapon/ cancel cast purification entering combat to get 10 stacks of might for free. Sigils just take some leeching ones I didn’t fill them in.

DH and War both needs some serious nerfs somewhere. As it stands currently both heavies put out too much damage, are basically immune to condi (remember when War was “Weak to condi”?…lol great design ANet), have absurd uptime on invuln to regular damage AND have multiple gap closers.
ANet has really screwed the pooch with these two classes, everyone else feels pretty good right now. I wish some of the other classes had multiple builds (Engi) but everyone else can at least compete.
Here is a crazy thought, design a weakness into DH or Warriors… I know, thats crazy talk but I think it will make the game better for everyone.
Both guards and Wars are not op.
They are underpowered to say the least. But this is true only at high level.
All people crying about them demonstrate only one thing: they do not belong to this scope.
What is funny to see is to watch them coming over and over again on this topic without wondering if they are not responsible from having issues with these two professions.
Me 10 first match 8 wins. Often very hard matches and close score.
Now 33 matches…11 wins.
I went from Platinum to silver on full loose streak.
All my teamates are falling like flies and I am always outnumbered everywhere I go.
I win my duels I +1 and carry on kills and revive…but nothing seems sufficient.
I heard some of them telling they were on their third match…wtf
I play with guys with not even a rank….
This Season is the most horrible and frustrating experience I had…and by far. Worst season ever so far.

-no more good communication possible in a theoricaly team game
-no way to prevent from being teamed in kitten kitten composition
And to be clear…Anet is really mediocre at team composition in matchmaking. It is so bad I am wondering if it is not intended sometimes. 80% of the cases there is 1 or 2 support class on one side with none on the other. 30% of the cases i am teamed with 2 thieves with no support bunky prof.I am solo player..I know what happen when you are solo and I accept the consequences. But I know that it is up to me to have a better experience (going in a team).

there’s always the gw2 community TS. I know a lot of pvpers use that to find groups then form up with it as their voice.

Core guardian virtues were buffed, the DH ones remain the same, with the added bonus that traps do not daze anymore and apply slow instead.
That said, slow is so deadly on this meta that anyone not running diamond skin or mallyx might as well give up on teamfights, the spam is too much to channel anything.
The change from daze to cripple is a huge nerf dont kid yourself.
It is not criplle it is slow. Slow is slowering your casts and not tour movements.
I dont think they are done with balance patches. They said they’d be toning some sort of base utility down on guard and all they did was remove the silence. Meta guard only uses 1-2 traps.
Wrong…2 or 3 with the trap trait. So the change is a hudge nerf.
Buffing the ridiculous signet unusable and the virtues that are useless as vanilla guards are not viable will not change anything.

The only thing good with trap is gone.
Now guards have to play condi with the same weakness they always had:only one type of condi apply too easily cleansed. Ridiculously strong against low cleaner prof and ridiculously weak against others. All in all never pleasant to play.
The only thing that was possible to do against ele with all the projectile hate they provide and all the absurd amount of heal they give was to cc them. This option is dead now. In top of that the burn guard will also be erased with the condi clean of ele.
And for those who say slow is a nice trade-off I defenitely do not leave on the same planet.
This slow will last half a sec maxin teamfights and will remain laughably unoticed.
Now guard can just switch class when ele will come.
Meanwhile support effectiveness of ele seen as overlords by Anet themselves is kept unchanged…with slight other buffs. This is absurd.
Necros is by far the most unfun prof to play against…slow painfull and ugly….a complete failure.
In the end dh is strong against bad players…who should improve rather than ask for nerf.
Once they will have improved they will realize dh is weak
Then…why does the non-stacking rule still exists in ESL? If the game should be balanced around ESL, then why use different set of rules?
If the balance at “average” level doesn’t matter as people here say…let’s remove no stacking rules and let’s see if the ESL team keep the same “balanced” composition as now.

The non stacking rule is the most lazzy and negative way to simply hide the evidence of unbalance.
This is why you are right…rules should be the same: stacking possible everywhere and team q also possible.
Then balance should be applied based on what is seing strong and weak at top level only.
All the rest is a matter of skill / good willing of players to be in a team.
If I am destroyed because I play bad…I am ok…I just have to improve.
If I am destroyed because usually against a medium or low player my prof is strong but against a good opponent I have no chance…then I am not ok.
Same for teams ..
Anet is slowly but surely taking all decisions that will destroy the pvp:
-op elite specialization for marketing
-class stacking rule in esl for low cost balance management
-team q removal because easiest way to hide the population problem

Seems some rangers have sometimes difficulties on 1v2…please buff.
Not enough regen / evade…need more dps and their pet may be killed when 5 player burst on it.
The group fight support is a bit low also… possible to double invulnerabilities uptime and make it passive proc ?

I agree with nighthawk in terms of trying to kill their pet. Bunk druids are hard to kill but a 2v1 should be able to do it unless you are getting kited around and actually not hitting him. What build do you run?

Hi I was 2 vs 1 ing a ranger today with my DH on PvP ranked.
We could not put his life bellow 33% and he was recovering 100% very easily while I was trying to control him.
The fight took 5 minutes easy. While he was easily surviving us his pet was putting me on very difficult situation.
I decided to try to kill the pet, but 2 minutes later the pet was still 100%. It was recovering so easily…I became mad.
What can I do ?

If someone dodge the end of my shield 4 he will avoid my clone generation..but if I jump i generate it? why?
and if i jump and he does not evade then no clone ? why ?if you just use shield and your enemy attacks you and you block you create a phantasm
but if you blind, evaded than no phantasm like any other skill
because the shield create the phantasm after the end of the blocking its easy for some ppl to anticipate it and dodge it, blind it, evade, block itthus if you jump you create another action which delay the phantasm creation a little bit so if the evade, block ends before the action your phantasm will spawns (unless you blind)
so now the enemy had to think when to evade/dodge. does he waits for you to jump or not….
more useable in 1v1 as in team fights its easy to block

You have the kite knowledge with phase retreat.
You have the 2 button in a micro sec to get an additional shatter(phase retreat + shatter)
You have the blink forward with phase retreat: turn back phase retreat turn back
You have all the maximized combo with cs

Thief still under performs in one of its main purposes which is duels and 1v1 fights. In sPvP it is still mostly relegated to +1 and mobility.
Do good players even sweat a power thief in a straight up fight any more?
