I looked at revenant skills wiki.
Every thing leads to brokenly op stuff.
1) Low cooldown with energy compensation => thief cancer system reproduced with little adjustments. Be sure that energy limitations will be like initiative…not sufficient to manage fair balance with other classes
2) Broken access to stab sharing which will put guards out with the recent stab change
3) Broken access to low cool ranged down aoe cc which will be brokenly op with last stab change.
4) Broken counter to condis with broken ability to apply huge amount of torment confusion burning. 5 rev were ble to go above 100 stacks of confusion on a world boss at beta.(yes 100 as anet is working on changing the cap for conditions)
5) Best access to blast finisher with 3 blast each 8 sec and fire field on mace
…I stop here … but the list is long.
This is not just a matter of adjustments. This is out of control…and will remain as we have an initiative like mechanic.
In fact mesmer does not exist. It is as its class specificity: an illusion.
It has been anihilated by thief 2 years ago.
What in the last patch did this? The stability change? I was just in a keep battle, 8 times to use elite, heal skill not responsive. This wasnt even near stonemist. Ya the last patch broke WvW. Revert Stability and see what happens.
Impossible…Anet never come back on decision not welcomed by community.
This is a way to avoid pushing people to riot everytime they want something.

Sorry to look a little rude but be aware that pve skill reqirement is the level 0 on the skill meter in gw2.
Everybody talking about presenting by any way pve skill level as a reference has no idea on what skill is.
There iw nothing more brain dead than pve today in gw2.
Thanks about the advice of red circles…but I think it will bring more added value i pve section.
Some told the management of stab stacks is likely to be a huge impact for servers.
This sounds highly likely as in the past aoe were reduced to five target to manage lags.
Maybe aoe should be reduced to 1 target to manage lag
This would add some nice stuff to the new beautifull game design.
I often raise broken situations…but I feel medi guard (hammer not gs)are strong currently…not god mode prof neither unkillable…not awesome 1v1ers but strong.
Maybe it is just because people are not yet used to play against them..but I feel they are bombing danger in team fight…with efficient control to stop some usual unkillable prof.
I feel it is good for the game.
Finally Anet buffed the weapon set on which power necromancers, just like rangers, spend most of their time: the downstate. Now the power necro on my team will at last be somewhat useful in a team fight, if I’m careful not to rez him entirely.
This is a real nerf to war banner lol.
This will push war out of meta
There will be solution to beat zergs:
Knock Them down to death to make it impossible for them to react
Impossible today because you cannot come close to the zerg to land the current aoe KD as they are close range skills. (Yes there is static field and line of warding but it apply only on the line and thus makes it not possible to apply on a whole static zerg)
But in few months you will be able to:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Drop_the_Hammer
=>AOE KD
=>1200 range
=>radius 240…lol radius 240 (equivalent to traited symbol for guards)
=>15 sec cool down (don’t hesitate to abuse it)
Little difficulty with some control abuse on you ?
No problem:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Retribution_%28trait_line%29
=> dodging machine (endurance when struck)
=> stab on dodge
=> retal on dodge
and
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Inspiring_Reinforcement
=> 6 sec duration aoe stab pulse
=> 5 sec cool down
=> perma stab pulse ???
Want to engage without risk ? No problem:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phase_Smash
=> 1200 range
=> TP chill/damage and then come back
=> 8 sec CD
In top of that: 2 blast finishers on the same weapons 8 sec and 15 sec cd
Once ennemy front line KD….rush with unblockable attacks while negating ennemy range attacks:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vengeful_Hammers
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Field_of_the_Mists
Or if you prefer to keep safe at range:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Coalescence_of_Ruin (2 sec CD)
Note: cooldown of skills have also to take into account the energy management but if it is as well balanced as thief initiative it should not be a real issue.
The zerg detroyer profession will come soon…when it’s ready….keep fingers crossed
Reading it…I feel I deserve some retribution from Anet from so much advertising…but don’t be mistaken…I am 100% against brokenly OP classes…it ruins the game in the end.

And the winner is……
The Revenant with aoe knock down at range. How to make a new prof in 6 lessons:
1) Make a real weakness to current meta => make stab amazingly unavailable
2) Give to new profession huge access to the missing ressource=>stab on dodge + pulsing stab to allys with 5 sec cooldown => bye bye guards ?
3) Provide amazing skill to new prof to benefit of the missing ressource in the context of new meta (mostly ranged now)=>aoe range kd
4) Make existing dominant prof less and less appealing to push people to reroll
5) Bring a new map where missing ressource is crucial
6) Profit and laugh :-)yes if the change delivered the same time with the new class , but this change destroyed the current meta without bring the new class and leaved the new meta in a chaos state.
all of the players in my friend list can not wait play the new class , i see no reason to destroy a whole game mode to promote just a new race that it is not present …..
laugh without profit is mindless and stupid , because wvw guilds will cancel their moves from one server to an other before figure how to proper run in wvw …..
All you are talking about sounds perfectly aligned with what I said.
In the end:
…leaved the new meta in a chaos state…
…all of the players in my friend list can not wait play the new class…
…laugh without profit is mindless and stupid…
Don’t be affraid….profit’s coming.
All what you see today is “Teasing”

- What do you feel the Mesmer is currently lacking ATM?
Large Wvw: confusion time warp and blurred fenzy nerfs made mesmers poor veil bots
Roaming: acceptable but low mobility and hard countered by thieves
Pvp: not worth a thief(out of meta for close to 2 years)
Pve: all prof work…not worth mentioning
- What game mode (PvP, WvW, PvE Open World/Dungeons) do you feel Mesmer currently excels in the most? Least?
Mesmers excel nowhere…not even close to excel (see above)
- Without reworking anything, what minor adjustments would you make to any of our weapons/utilities/traits to make them more viable?
4 stacks of confusion with confusion trait (like warrior trait) instead of one would make mesmer more desirable in large wvw.
Revert to blured fenzy nerf would also be welcomed.
- Is there anything that would make you stop playing Mesmer? If you’ve stopped what would draw you back?
I stopped mesmer one year ago…and it was a blast to feel desirable again …with a role I performed well.
I make sometimes some pvp games with it…but it does not last
- What has damaged your faith in the devs? Is there any faith remaining? What would have to happen to earn back your trust? Again, please no general statements like “a lot of nerfs.”
Unwished nerfs on an already sub-par profession is something I can not get.
All experimented players have the same feed-back and devs keep pushing the rampant dominating professions. It sounds to me unbelievable bur they keep doing it.
Honestly I feel they don’t care at all about mesmer and I am pretty sure their only focus is now on how to make revenant OP as hell.
After some years we will be back to normal and mesmers will still be where they are now : out.
Maybe I am wrong…I hope I am mistaking…but past did nor give me any fact that could bring confidence.
- What is your one (reasonable) Mesmer wish?
Grouch playing mesmer as main…only thing that could make thing change.
But in the current state of the mesmer I fear this is not a reasonable wish.
(edited by Kicast.1459)
Also, many people have suggested that mesmer needs an alternate composition to work, but have not provided any examples of such a composition. Would anyone care to suggest one?
Supcutie tried hard…and didn’t succeed according to previous thread he made.
But I am pretty sure all these poor thiefs will shortly explain him how to l2p….He did play mesmer on the WTS against apparently a thief. The only reason he switched to thief is because his system malfunctioned and couldn’t use the mouse bindings so he had to use something else. I don’t know what you are refering too. Strawman argument much?
… I was addressing why I went Thief in the WTS…
Technically though, Thief was better, if you’re wondering. I was only playing Mesmer the whole time because I wanted to and I was sick of going Thief, but I think technically I was gimping my team. If I was an excellent Thief (and I’m not too terrible, I just hadn’t played Thief competitively in a while) the comp would have been better, and that’s what I’ve done for almost all of my competitive teams in the past. I just wanted to play Mesmer this time.
Concluding thoughts:
1. Thief is still strong, Mesmer is still strong. Thief simply offers more for the slot on the team compared to other classes in the vast majority of cases.
2. Condi/Cele comps are easier to run for equal or greater success rates compared to zerker, specifically power classes other than Thief (you can check my post history to find some more in-depth explanation for this). – This is why often times you hear the thought that while Mesmer is good, there are usually better choices. “Better” meaning having higher room for error with equal or greater success for equal or less player skill input.
…
In this thread by Supcutie himself….but maybe u did not read cautiously…

Thief have always needed and still need huge nerfs.
Highest mobility class must never be the hardcounter of anything.
Anet was not able to manage this in two years.
I don’t know if they are blind or if they just simply can’t due to awfull and broken initiative design.
Little tip for you anet…spammable skills must never be powerfull. And the thief shouldn’t die in 2 crits but hey, it is what it is. If you can’t land 2 crits, that’s your fault. Live by the sword, die by the sword, lol
Yes it should…like other zerkers.
And thief is still one of the hardest class to down when well played.
But you are obviously not aware on what a good thief can do.You clearly don’t know how immobilize works.
Agains’t s/d thief… Tell me how well immob works.
S/D damage is meh at best anyway … should all thieves switch to condi so you would feel less whiny, lol o.O
A good hambow will completely negate S/D thief.
Do you realize that a power ranger does more damage with bow than a thief with 2 pistols and has more defensive cleave than one.
Ok thank you for your feedback.
Thief does not anihilate mesmer because of hambow.
Good demonstration…and obvious fairness arguments….
I would say….thief spotted ;-)

Sometime I go and play some lol.
Yes I know it is not mmo but bloody hell…the community there is really toxic.
When you go back to gw2 all haters and ragers you may see lookto be the best friends in the world after that.
I would like to congrats all team.
Plenty of suspens…best advertise for the pvp scene
I would like also to congrats phantaram for his respectfull behavior while this time he didn’t win….this is the quality of great champions.

The problem of gw2 balance is that some class excel (read outperforms) other class in two many domains with no huge drawbacks.
Sure they complain about it in WvW but Anet doesn’t care about that.
Saying anet doesn’t give a kitten would sound more appropriate
I saw what they did to mesmers in wvw. And the change on stability coming…omg….
Phantaram mentioned that, while playing the demo, 90% of the teleport spots no longer work. Not only will this hurt thief mobility, but thief escape mechanics as well. If this is true, I believe that this will be the tipping point for thief in the meta. The risk will no longer be worth the reward.
Which risk are you talking about ?
If you think playing thief brings risk then it is a l2p issue
I think Anet don’t give a kitten to balance in wvw.
Gwen meta for years with profession left in nowhere.
I don’t think they really care on having cancerous blob class stacking.
What will now happen with 10 hammer wars jumping on the ranges with f1 ?
…it will just be game over
(edited by Kicast.1459)
All I see is good in this change.
CCs actually mattering in WvW: Good.
Monster CCs actually mattering in PvE: Good
Boon Rip not being required to deal with heavy Stability Stacks? : Good.
CC focused builds actually being able to overpower 1 button’s worth of stability: Good.
No good
CCs actually mattering => it already matters but now Hammer war train will be insane
Boon Rip not being required to deal with heavy Stability Stacks? => No good to get boon rip less usefull (it is already sub-par in regards with boon generation)
CC focused builds actually being able to overpower 1 button’s worth of stability => ok no counter to CC…what for class not able to deal spammy cc ? good ? really ?
I see you are a thief…I can easily see what may sound interesting to you…but no ..it is not good
what? you think every stomp attempt you are going to get multiple CCs on you?
why can’t you just start the stomp to bait out their cc’s and then dodge? also, doesn’t this go both ways and also make it harder to rez a downed player?
the only impact i see this having on downed state play is more often preferring to cleave over stomp (which most teams would be wise to do anyway)
Up on numerous cc ?
Cleave more suitable to finish players ?
And the winner is ….. ?
Just lol.
It seems engi community is now full of thieves…so sad
All this buzz for a new map ???
Why are we even talking about a new game mode ?
At least for courtyard I did not remember them making so much noise (and they were right not to do it as it changed close to nothing in the spvp scene)
It’s a good thing the game isn’t balanced around each class just bringing one thing where they excel. Seems to me what we have is exactly the meaning of balance; bringing many tools to the table that are useful.
Moot point, because classes like warrior, engineer, and elementalist do exactly that, bring many tools to the table that are useful. And they do it better than guardian, while also being able to deal decent damage at the same time.
Nothing moot here. Just because you fail to identify the tools we bring to the table and cherry pick your examples to ‘win’ doesn’t mean that being non-specialized in any one area is a bad thing. Being balanced across all gameplay is not bad. A profession doesn’t need to excel in one specific element more than any other profession to be a useful or balanced profession either. You’re posts are fallacies.
No, you’re not getting it. Guardian doesn’t specialize in any one thing better than other classes, and at the same time guardian cannot outperform other classes as a jack-of-all-trades. It’s an outdated class that brings nothing to the table that isn’t brought more effectively by another class.
That’s it…guardians are in a good spot they said…
of course it will be op…this is by marketing definition….of course it will be nerfed…but it will take more than 2 patchs to bring them in line with others….
This means more than 1.5 year of opness. (balance patch every 6 months)
Come and buy !!!! 1.5 year Op class warranty :-)
Honestly…of you look at spirit weapons …. new weapon can only be longbow.
Moreover in term of role play … i can not imagine dagger axe or riffle.im wit u jack
ty bob :-)
If it is a mesmer skill … it must not work on thief….this is game design (see power block trait)
L2p…change profession.

(edited by Kicast.1459)
On a previous patch .. engi shield 4 got buffed (made it possible to move while using the skill) .
I wonder if the people changing the professions are the same or if there is a particular guy for each of them.
Solo will not come back because anet never come back on a bad decision. This makes things change … for bad reasons indeed but change nevertheless.
@inhearth: totally agree with you
yes thief is kitten…
broken evade spammability…stealth ( but it is even not the worst issue)
broken insta (read uncounterable without chance) gap closers
broken mobility…
broken damage in regards of their survivability
Mesmers are just as other squishies chained rapped by these ennemy they can even not run away.
What an epic failure anet seriously.
The funny thing is that thieves have never stopped complaining…
Being nerfed and nerfed again is not a reason to say thieves are underpowered…it can be a sign they were absurdly owerpowered.
In fact mesmer is the most hard countered class in game.
And it his by the best mobility class in game with no counter. Mesmer cannot avoid thieves and thus can be shut down very hard.
I would not call this op.
(edited by Kicast.1459)
If you want to make people come and try gw2 you avoid showing the profession that keep being farmed. It is much more appealling to see god mode prof rolling on everything.
Did you never notice that cams are on ele, engies or thieves 80% of the time? 10% on warriors.
If you feel it is very bad…it is likely a change that will last….Anet keeps pushing player on grinding more and more. This is the new strategy to keep the game alive as much as possible. I can’t even blame them to try this.
Forget leaderboards…best you can do is maybe to ask for an eloboard (the one that matters) but they will probably not provide it as top players would then stop grinding which would cause population issues.
Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
The purpose of the class is to absolutely destroy anything and everything if you play it right, and then also be able to run away from anything that Anet balance prevents you from winning against!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
Would be funny…if it wasn’t close to true ;-)
(edited by Kicast.1459)
Medium health pool, heavy armor, and death shroud please, to make it fair and balanced for the poor underpowered thieves.
Pretty much this…this thread is laughable.
Watch some good thieves…you will see that it is close to unkillable when played well.
Thieves have far too much survivability (not talking about stealth but more about never ending dodging machine).
Before giving hp nerf drastically evade spammability….after we can talk.
Guardian in a good spot…lol
Last time they talked about a profession in good spot it was about mesmers…just before the necro patch.
Now mesmers have been left by most top players for about close to 1 year and a half.Nice to be in a nice spot. Guards are cursed and it will last.
Really impatient to hear them saying ele thieves and engies in a nice spot.
I believe he is saying that thief, ranger, guard will be in a good place once the nerfs to other profs are made.
Which makes sense because they were part of the meta before the celestial buff.
Thieves still in meta…in all top teams and hard countering mesmers at least. Best duelsist best mobility and most unkillable class.
Guardian in a good spot…lol

Thieves have completely broken amount of spammable evades non counterable gap closers and can escape with so much ease.
Guard have nothing like that…medi guard can make good burst with good survivability. But once cooldowns are down…they are kitted efficiently and can hardly escape.
Bunker guards are valuable team support but will fall sooner or later against any decent opponent when alone.
You are not on a cheesy profession here…if you are looking for brokenly op prof you should look elsewhere.
They want u to farm stupidly their maps silvewaste…which can easily be considered as a golden waste of time.
I find the topics on “why is/cant/arent Mesmers X” always have the same answer..
the Cele meta really kills off classes that need to specialize to do well..
….
A Jack of all trades is a master of None, does not apply for Gw2 for some classes.. in these cases a Jack of all is a Master of all, and easily outshines those that can only do 1 maybe 2 at the same level…Its not a good design or balance and it really needs to be looked at in depth if “Esports” is ever going to get off the ground and a healthy Rotating meta is to flower in the stagnate pools of 2 years neglect..
This….
And no mesmers are not strong…even top level mesmer can spent whole game desesperately trying to survive and are shut down easily by a thief.
Cannot fight efficiently on point.
Do not bring aoe pressure.
Are hard countered by a class with much more mobility and survivability (one of the highest).
One can say what he want to hear…but facts are:
Mesmer out of tournament for more than 1 year in NA. And EU with more skilled player in average cannot face the cele ele engi meta as they did not adapt to it.
Current ladder is an utter joke (no offense meant)
Most of top players are just pvp bots with <50 games won and over 9000 games grinded.
Please don’t belittle other players like this.
Ladder should reflect skill (winning %, personal scores etc.) over time spent in pvp.
The goal of this scoring method is put emphasis on both skill and effort. Take Rank 1 in both EU and NA. EU has virtually the same score as NA, but had NA to play more than 150 games to achieve the same score. Both represent things that deserve credit: perseverance, consistency, and skill.
We know some players would like skill to be weighted higher than effort, all I can say as that we will review the data and be looking at feedback throughout the season, and especially at the end.
Also, do not forget that the current ladder data isn’t a good test of the system. We had matchmaking errors, configuration changes, etc, not to mention the ladder had a false start where data was being collected before people knew it would be visible.
So ladder is not supposed to rank the best players anymore ? I am falling from my chair.
[…] but it isn’t as high of a priority as the new game mode.
There is a new game mode ?!
yes …coming soon…let’s cross fingers ;-)
Seriously it has been for more than 1 year that new mode is coming…you’d better not count too much on it and play with what you have now.
Promises only hold those who believe in them.
Just put 5 canons at spawn to avoid camping (with limited range)
Or make it successive real deatmatchs…no respawn as long as one guy still lives in each team…once a team is defeated…respawn all with 50 pts to victorious team…repeat.
This would work if you finally accept to nerf spammy perma stealth (which is mandatory in tdm … so if you want it competitive…you will have to do it in the end)
