As we have hit soo hard in opness at hot release, this process is likely to take several iterations and thus years to reach an acceptable level.
However as we feel chronomancer bunkers is providing a too bad image to our branding for esport, we have decided to destroy the build whatever the consequences on viability of entire profession.
As a result
quickness is rendered useless for stomping and rezing
defense capability are drastically decreased through energy sigils nerf / slight increase of all your cooldowns / destruction of precog well / bunker amulet removal
group support is rendered abysmal with alacrity destruction
We want the message to be clear and discourage anybody from rolling mesmer.
This is why we keep damage at its abysmal state and buff drastically the natural hard counter of mesmers to god mode.
Of course you can try a condie mesmer as we increase scepter attack speed by 5 % on a lackluster trait.
Hope you enjoy the game like we appreciate trolling you and don’t forget that we have no freakin idea of what we are doing….and that we don’t really care.

Well I’ll be kitten ed. Welp, bring on the doomsayers. Guess everyone has to taste the frustration of being underpowered every now and then. Guess its mesmers turn to feel weak again, then it’ll be back to necros and rangers being UP, then warriors and thieves as the cycle simply continues.
Now let’s be honest here, compare to many other classes, Mesmers didnt really exist as part of meta in the past 3 years, classes like Ele, Guardian, Engis, warriors have all enjoyed longer stay at Meta. I really dont get the extreme handle by ANet when it comes to the Mesmers class. ONE meta and they decided to nuke it into none existence. They have no idea what the Mesmer class should be.

It is not high skill cap…d/p is a cheesy build as hell with few (read random) counterplay on main attacks.
And yes I know what I am talking about as I play thief already in this current meta.
And you know what … I feel much stronger and efficient already now than with a shatter or condi mesmer or a dh.
Less efficient than a bunker mesmer however.

I guess now you’ll see what thieves have had for over a year. Thieves have been in the toilet. Now we’re climbing out with anets help.
Buy a brain guy…thieves have been meta all times before Hot. They are in fact the only profession which could claim this status.

Thief mobility is so strong that they should not be hurting. But here surprisingly…it has never been a problem to have it top 1v1.

Imho, unless they properly split pve/pvp/wvw balance, they will never be able to get good results.
There are just too many differences in those modes to keep them under the same roof.+1 i agree. PVE/WvW/PvP really should be split. Some skills are fine in pve mode but become broken in PvP. Some skills are broken in WvW but are fine in PvP.
I disagree…they could just align gameplays accross all modes. Facing intelligent reactive but low hp mobs…organized in teams would so much more rewarding…and will promote the same skills efficiency.
I have to admit that Anet didn’t choose that direction with so much pve content simply ignoring full set of skills (projectile teflexion – confusion efficiency – control consequences)…I would say they insist in their error.

Sounds like you want to balance everything around the pro league.
This begs the question: around what should we balance the game?The answer is, all game modes and all skill levels should be taken into consideration.
If Dragonhunter traps are nerfed to the ground because you can click your whole bar and wipe 5 people out in Amber, that wouldn’t be considering the high skill level, for example.
This specifically is a thread on the PvP forums, pertaining to the state of PvP balance.
My opinion is that the classes should primarily be balanced around being used optimally, in conditions where there’s little or no L2P factor, so apples can be compared to apples.
Balancing things like MinionMancer, Turret Engineer, Dragonhunter, 100Blades Warrior for entry level skilled players should be a consideration too, but as a second priority, and it can’t impact the class potential, after all, it’s admittedly a L2P problem.
I agree +1000 (and contrary to chaith I am a low level player). I have 0 problem failing with a difficult profession knowing that if I did it better I would be able to compete.
Of course if everything is fine at top level…it is always good to check if it is possible to have also the game balanced at lower levels….but we are so far from balance at uppers that I feel pointless to concentrate on something else.

we decided that throwing auto attack damage in the mix will solve this. Our vision is your role shouldn’t be able to contribute to anything other than finishing half dead enemies or +1 fights
Unfortunatelu this is how it should be…otherwise you have to nerf their mobility.
If it’s WvW you’re interested in, do not buy HoT. The game mode is in its death throes and Anet has given no tangible indication that they are going to act.
And even if they do act, do you really think they can bring it back from death? The same people who put it in the state it’s in now? Not a chance.

This official confirms that Guardians will be the worst profession in game when this patch goes live.
We will be worse then Thiefs or Warriors currently are.
Traps were the single thread holding this profession from falling into the abyss, i’m not saying they didn’t deserve changes, but with zero compensation to the rest of the Guardian this profession will be the most broken in GW2 history.
We are already useless in raids, we are already useless in high-end PvP, over half of our talents/traits/weapons/skills are either broken or useless, and now they wont to remove the only semi-optimal option Guardians have left with zero compensation elsewhere?!
Whats the point in playing this game when the devs clearly have no idea what they are doing.

You cant seriously believe thief/dd is in any way better than DH. DH can take a thief out while going afk on point. A thief has great mobility, sure, but DH just makes them explode no matter if you are on point or off point and in range of their long bow.
In othet words….You must be super terrible if you actually think DH is anywhere bear as bad as thief/dd

DH are completely gimmicky, they have no mobility what so ever, are extremely easy to focus down and most of their damage is extremely predictable and counterable. It’s only good against bad players.
DD have extreme mobility, very good mostly unavoidable burst, are hard to take down due to their mobility and dodges, utility with team stealth, an elite that’s very good at finishing people off.
But yeah, you have to be better at the game to play DD than to play DH, so I return you the “compliment” : you must be super terrible at the game.Also, a class winning against another in 1v1 doesn’t make them better than said class. I win 100% of my 1v1 vs tempest as warrior, warrior better than tempest confirmed ?
Thieves have always been used to be top dog on mobility survivability and single target burst. This has always been true to such a level that all zerker specs but medi guards have been obliterated and pushed out of meta. The only thing that was positive in hot balance is that you have1 counter to thieves now(rev are a good tradeoff for mobility and is not destroyed in 1v1). The thieves community is obviously not used o be countered and does not acept it. This is why there is so much noise on their state.
To be honnest warriors and guardians are in a much weaker state.
Actually I’m pretty sure the stability rework was made for WvW. If I recall correctly they said stability shouldn’t make you able to cross an entire army of people without getting hit by cc which is purely about WvW.
I agree. They prepared the pirateship meta this way to make revs OP as hell also in wvw.

I win 2 in a row and get 2 pips. I play a 3 man premade of 2 legendarys and 1 amber with 2 diamond solo ques and i lose 3 pips when we were 5 solo que diamonds.
I win 2 in a row and i get this match and lose 2 pips. There are no words to explain the frustration of having days winning 4-5-6 games and losing 1-2-3 and having less pips. I think i just need to do dailies and just leave again.

I agree with Sunreva, actually. For a class that is summoning the mists as power it’s not hitting hard enough.
I’m usually getting 4-5k auto attacks on my full zerker revenant and it pretty much kills most classes in 3 hits but I’d like to see it do it in maybe 2 hits. Hammer 2 is only hitting for 10k on heavy armor and 18k on light armor but if it maybe had no cool down then it would be awesome as I think 2 seconds makes the skill hard to land.
Yep no cd and some love on figures: not being able to one shot everyone on a skill that can be dodged is really poor design ;-)

Well well I just made a jump on the last ESL matches and noticed that there were 4 professions remaining in the meta list :
Revenant
Mesmer
Ele
Engies
4 prof out of 9 in meta sounds alarming to me.
With mesmer nerfs which were huge for bunkering a point we can even foresee that mesmer will sooner or later go out to.
Rev took a hit but (maybe I am biaised) the change does not seem to impact the class too much ( less access to resistance).
Are we likely to see 3 prof in meta in the coming weeks ?

I really don’t get how you can be killed with traps.
Class stacking is a problem because the game is unbalanced. Removing class stacking from tournaments would cover the real problems and make the game look more balanced than it actually is, which might discourage Anet even more to properly balance the game. And “non-pro” players could have to endure this crappy meta even longer …

For movement…guard is great when you use sword tp / ji / gs leap.
With dh it is even better.
With traveler runes I am able to be quicker than majority of other professions
I don’t see bunker mesmer pushing any profession outside the meta.

It is surprising to see no problem raised from abjured at this stage. We were seing sucessfull 5 dd ele team in esl tournaments….but no problem.
Now we see a profession stacked in mass since hot release which simply replaces warriors thiefs and medi guardians. Guess what…it is not the mesmer.
First problem is rev. Once this monster which destroys every zerker / marauder build is toned down…you will see more class able to down a bunker mesmer.
Mesmer bunker coming in meta is the simple consequence of everything else being wrecked by rev.
But OK let’s nerf mesmer so we can build succesfull 5 Rev teams.

Well, looks like warrior is going to be gone from pvp for 4 months. As much as I’m annoyed by warriors that’s a kitten move anet. Thieves too.
Is everyone ready for the druid dragonhunter meta (herald too)? I’m anticipating durability runes replacing vamp runes for everyone and there dog using them.
To be honest dh is not viable and druid is about to fall too.
Meta is collapsing around revenant with a spot of mesmer engi necro and ele.
2 revs per team is becoming the standard. 0 dh 0 thieves 0 warriors.
Probably because it is well known that druids can prolong a battle. That is just one negative, another being the relatively limited scope for stratagems and tactics. The best players apply the same strategies and have the same builds and compositions, and even skill differences are close. The best and second best isn’t absolute and can be determined by one’s mood and/or diet since when you’re that good the difference between best and second best boils down to subjective factors as technical excellence is achieved by both.

Only 2 out of 9 classes being out of sync is relatively good balance for an MMO.

Ok let’s focus on nerfing these ones. It is obviously highest priority balance concern.
