Have you seen the ele forums today? You guys were blessed by the 6, the pale tree, supported by the char legions, gifted the patents of the asura, and declared legends by the norn.
No we weren’t. You compare # of changes for a new class to the already established class. Also as far as Tempest goes you were already told that there are more changes planned but they didn’t just get all of them yet. You got that said by dev in your very own thread.
Also this thread is not about elementalists. You have specific forum for that :P
(edited by Killyox.3950)
I really like the hammer. Good skills, good changes. Visually pleasing. Liking the slow-powerful feel/hits vibe as well.
Thanks ArenaNet for this class (because lets be honest, Roy is faceman for Rev atm but he is one of many so we should thank them all).
think of it as Humanoid Growth Hormone :P
@above
actually technologically humans of 21st are more advanced than asura. ASura are simply more techmagical. Even charr pure tech wise are better than asura (confirmed by AN).
Doesn’t matter taunt or not. The way I see it taunt is simple x seconds CC. Works like an interrupt forces enemy to move and gets him away from whatever he is doing so it’s not bad if cost/cd is proper.
that dmg decrease on Suffer is totally unnecessary when Revenant has utilty and does 3 stacks of burning for ~1200+550 dmg and it’s 5 targets aoe
the animation on Gravedigger has to be cut in half. the skill does a swing in the air that only slices the air, and then the actual attack starts. if 1st 2-hits of Warrior’s Hundred Blade skill didn’t do dmg and just slice the air like Gravedigger, Warriors would rage and Anet would fix it in no time
GD though is an aoe that hits like a truck and has 100% reduced cooldown if even JUST ONE enemy has HP =<50% and does bonus dmg.
Love revenant and his theme but I cannot see myself ever using Ventari. Not liking it is one reason second being it’s not my thing. Everything else is pretty good.
Decisions decisions! Liking too much of Rev. Condi build is pretty cool but so is power :P.
It does look bad but at least on char it is servicable.
My biggest gripe is AA animation. On human it looks bad.
I was using this skill a lot it does in pvp like 5-7k so there is something off
It has basically the same damage as surge of the mist now. In pvp with 88 crit chance i wasnt able to land more than 7k on zerker warrior. All 9 hits mind you and all of them critted. There is no doubt that something is off in this math.
Which is low considering zerker vs zerker
Next BWE we should be able to make a decent powerhouse though (if focusing purely on dmg).
Runes of Rage (5% dmg under fury), +5% force sigil, +7% on vuln target, +7% from side, +10% with 5 stacks of lacerations, +x% dmg from vulnerability. +dmg on skills across the board (sword 5%, #3 +30%, 5# +75%) I think Swords will finallly be in good spot. Combined with possible burstier Shiro-heal due to lowering interval to 0,5 from 1s it
I love how #3 can now be an offensive skill as well as defensive. Same goes for hammer Phase Smash.
Weakness to conditions: I don’t mind it. WE got 2 heals instead of 1. Jalis removes 3 condis, mallys has resistance. It’s fine imo
Vengeful Hammers – Love the change! -20% dmg from direct dmg and condis +ability to apply weakness to enemies, +possibility of getting protection from allies is cool. Also heal from hammers and some traits and it’s decent enough.
Rite of the great dwarf – good change! Hope it sticks. -50% dmg for 5s for allies and SB on 1s or so cast is good.
Loving Shiro after changes.
Almost loving Jalis after changes (IR got nerfed to hard, triple dipped; Taunt is too expensive)
Mallys with M/A is pretty awesome too but would change +50% poison duration trait to something more… interestng. Like Crits have X% chance to copy random condition on yourself. ~10s CD
Glint seems OK but I can tell it will need a couple of fixes already (certain buffs + nerfs)
Kinda called +10% crit per pulse on Maniacal Persistence. Now it will be pretty decent talent for all. Rolling Mists is a reat change as well. I like how different professions can get a sort of their “attuned” boon. Also opens a lot more gear options with being able to cut on precision for the sake of thg or vit.
(edited by Killyox.3950)
I’m not too familiar with the damage calculations, etc. But when they say they boost the damage by 30%, does that mean the modifier has been increased 30%?
How do you ‘spam’ a skill that has 15s CD.
It was weak. Really really weak. Single target was mediocre and with 2 targets it was very bad dmg + asking to be killed.
Animation is quite lengthy and you were very vulnerable to dmg and cc.
Also cancel would be a very bad idea because it would not solve the underlying problem at all. You would just NOT use skill because you would end up having to cancel it all the time to not die.
Prettyv good changes all around eXCEPT 1.
Inspiring Reinforcements – decide whter you increase CD, Cost or Nerf the Stability. All of it at the same time is too much of a nerf.
Also just a precaution for you guys at ArenaNet but I hope we won’t see more Cooldowns on revenant skills. If you do bring more and more cooldowns then just scrap energy entirely then. What’s the purpose of having energy cost AND cooldowns. This is mostly my reaction to Inspiring Reinforcements change where you gave it 10s CD and 30energy cost on top of it. That’s too much. Either make it 10s CD and 15e or 20e. You triple dipped it with stab change, CD inc and En inc.
Well Roy just said on twitter that Glint is not about condi cleanse (no words about resistance yet, but I don’t think she’ll get it). Guess that Glint+Shiro will be high risk, while Glint+anything else will be viable.
Glint/shiro is really fun. My current favorite setup is sword/shield, hammer, glint, shiro. Seeing all the skills, traits, etc in game tomorrow will give you a much better idea of everything.
Oh I’m sure it’s fun. I was hoping to use that same exact combo, legends and weapons (shield, sword and hammer are my favourite types, regardless of the class), but even pve without condi cleanse is a mess, not to mention pvp and wvw.
Well, you said nothing about resistanceI’m pretty confident you’ll do a good job. Good luck for tomorrow man, I’ll be on twitch chat all the time rooting for Herald
It actually works really well in all 3 game modes.
There are a lot of cool builds you can do with glint though.
I hope Glint offers both offense and defense depending on whether we upkeep or detonate XD.
S/Sh sounds nice. I am still more interested in changes from previous BWE than Glint to see what sort of feedback you guys thought was good and what was good/bad with the class. It still needs a lot of polishing but we are going in good direction.
Then cometh the Glint which I am sure will be cool!
Btw, hammer is awesome and all but I hope next BWE will have skills like Temporal Rift, Coalescence of Ruin, Searing Fissure, Grasping Shadows etc fixed because often they didn’t hit, go further and so on.
Also noticed sometimes queuing for Sword AA was… buggy.
Well since the revenant doesn’t have many boon giving skills….
…and in parties your allies will try to keep your boons up most of the time…
…no.
Right now without Glint, Revenant gives out the following Boons to others: Regeneration, Stability, Resistance, Swiftness (Blast the Road), Retaliation (Blast Ventari Bubble), Might (Blast Mace Firefield).
Facet of Nature will give all Boons from the other Facets to the Party aswell which include Swiftness and Protection.
Question to Roy: When giving out the other Boons, will the Active from FoN use the passive +50% for those Boons or will they go out with +0%?
I’m sure we will be able to test that in ~2-4 weeks
But the game engine is built for DirectX 9. You can’t just magically push a button and have it use DirectX 12. If that was the case why would any game ever use anything other than the latest version?
WOW could provide DX11 client from DX9 so could GW2 if ANet focused on it. That would be a huge performance boost.
Yeah .. if such a poor indie company like Blizzard could do it .. no reason why
you can’t do it yourself in your cellar ^^But carefull .. the performance boost to 1000 Gazillion FPS could maybe make
your monitor explode.Serious .. just stop with the WoW argument .. Blizzard earns money without end
from their cashcow, on the other hand that game is ugly as hell and was espically
build to run on low speed single core processors.
NCSoft isn’t poor either and ArenaNet belongs to NCSoft.
Also with 144Hz monitor I am fine
-snip-
Unless, you have problems with playing Gw2 with 10 years old PC, then well, consider an upgrade?
Well the 2500k is just over 4 years old, what would usually be pretty old (while new when GW2 was released btw) however because CPU improvements have been somewhat slow lately it’s still among the fast CPU’s. When you ask advice about an upgrade, in general people will not tell you to now upgrade the processor when you use a 2500k.
A GTX 970 is not even a year old. put in 8 or 16 GB or RAM and you have a system that is still pretty up to date / fast. However, this setup does not give you great performance in GW2, so it’s not just about having an 10 year old PC.
I still use i5-760 4gb ram adn gtx670. Planning upgrade when Pascal architecture from nvidia sees the light of day + skylake from intel tick period and pref 32gb ddr4
Will have again some years ahead. Thank goodness CPUs didn’t pull so much ahead:DD
This would be awsome
would play it all the time and it wouldnt feel so much like wasted time :>
This is BETA weekend events we are talking about. Not a free sample preview or anything. Don’t want to test then don’t do it.
Dislike Cpt. America. Pls no :P
“Unrelenting Assault – When striking a foe, gain 1 Energy for each stack of Vulnerability on them.”
Sounds extremely OP. What about pve? On a boss? Or even in pvp when teammates also have vuln stacked on that target? That would be a crapload of energy. 7 hits x 25 stacks = instant fill up.
Needs a cap for that suggestion (10 per skill use?)
Rather flat amount per strike :P
Or add condi → boon convert to Impossible Odds at a rate 1 per sec
@Conner, also think IR should not have CD.
@Killyox.3950
And you play because it’s “different”. You no better than me.…
Thief spam too and have initiatives so your argument about “they have no energy cuz they spam #3 from s/s” is invalid. Did you ever try something different than shiro s/s and mallyx?
I never said I am better than you. Or worse for that matter.
I just said the theme and flavour of Rev suits me so it fits my tastes. It doesn’t fit your tastes apparently so why force change it to something it is not designed/intended to be ?
I will main Rev along Engie but I cannot ever see myself using ventari the way it is now. At all.
There will be some tweaks to this trait soon™.
Spoiler Alert: What is it?
3% per second :-p
10% would be cool
But… don’t other classes hold bow in left hand while pulling the string with right? Would fit tbh.
Just dunno what role it would serve vs hammer (which is pretyy cool
)
Yeah,doesn’t revenant have F2 in form of 2nd Legend ? It’s a swap thing,but that can easily be F1 and F2.
No. It’s a single button to switch legends. Z for me.
It looked like bow in the artwork tbh :P
Jalis will get some love, but Shiro needs it too, on the healing skill (less icd)
Just wait and see all the love. There is enough to go around.
All the love?!
Roy! If I don’t see enough love in revenant changes to love them myself so much that my wife becomes jealous I will be disappointed :P
@Krzysiek
Then simply don’t play revenant. Why? Because it’s clearly not a class you want. You basically changed entire class and its concept by wanting to remove energy cost.
Don’t like energy mechanic? Prefer cooldowns? This isn’t a class for you then. You got plenty of CD based classes that you can choose.
I want to play rev because it’s different and NOT CD based but energy based. They made this class for people like me who wanted something else than CD.
Don’t forget the ulty that takes so long to get off that the enemy team should /forfeit if they let you do so.
Elite itself is actually pretty awesome. Stun breaker and 5s worth of -50% dmg taken for the team. That’s huge.
Problem is that it doesn’t benefit the rev much when he’s just by himself. Maybe if the cast was 1 second then it would be very good. Would help survive spike. Also maybe if cost was ~40.Remember the first tests when it was a 100% damage reduction and faster to cast?
Was it 100% though ? It had no % in tooltip and I think cast was like it is now?
It shows here that it was 2 3/4 like now and cost 40 energy which is 10 energy less than before.
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/gw2-revenant-jalis-legendary-skills1.jpg
Brutal blade the 2nd attack in chain is extremely underpowered. The damage is way to low where the 3rd attack does not compensate for it. Yes it’s underpowered compared to many classes considering our 2 skill is junk, 3 skill is bad unless on solo target
Heck both necromancer and thief auto attacks crush revenant by about 25%. The swords damage is not good.
It’s actually strong. It hits twice, giving more vuln and hitting all in line. It’s just awkwardly presented due to 3/4s cast instead of 1/2 like the rest. #2 isn’t great but it’s not the worst. Lets you catch up people. It could use a buff though.
Don’t forget the ulty that takes so long to get off that the enemy team should /forfeit if they let you do so.

Jalis is supposed to be our tanking legend, but the only good thing about that legend is the healing skill (and the bugged upkeep, that is offensive-midrange, providing no active defense at all). The taunt has a HUGE energy cost (seriously, the same as Jade Winds).
So yeah, Jalis needs an upgrade.
I would scrap that taunt entirely and give us different skill.
Hammers have a lot of use for aoe pressure, added dmg, taking people out of stealth. IR is also great for stability, some poke aoe dmg and weakness/aoe with low cost/long dur.
Taunt is just… bad. I get it can be used on someone who is trying to stomp your friend in pvp but… it’s just bad. Same can be achieved with hammer, axe #5 and lots of other stuff. We don’t need this skill.
That’s something I would like a dev to answer to. It could be interesting (their response).
Right now Rev is profession most punished by conditions (perhaps excluding mallyx)
I disagree with OP. Mostly because I dislike getting energy while swapping. It more or less FORCES player to swap every time you can to maximize benefit.
Rather than that I would like to have regen increased and/or ability costs reduced while removing energy on swap (currently 50%).
They got very low CD compared to other weapons. It’s fine imo. If they had no CD their cost would go up, don’t think it wouldn’t. IF energy went away then CD would go up.
I prefer it the way it is now. It’s not a class for everybody and not everyone has to like it and how it works. That’s fine, there are other classes to be played.
So it’s #4 for me as far as weapons go. I do say though that 5-0 costs need to be adjsuted (decreased) in some cases and legend swap 50% regen removed then.
My problem with sword three isn’t the damage, its the lack of evade and how suddenly worthless it becomes when fighting mesmers, minion masters, spirit weapon guards, turret engies, or anything with stability that’s near something else and can’t be pulled with sword 5 (or summons adds while being immune to CC, in the case of many champions/elites/veterans).
You got #4 on sword for 2s block and you probably run shiro for swords so you can use Utility #1 to break stun, remove condis (some), get 3/4th sec evade + get back 50% endurance, enough for 1 dodge.
If you are worried about stability use Dismantle Defenses iirc name GM trait.
Also the misuse of word ‘disgusting’ in the thread’s title is what’s disgusting.
Chrono is really strong. I ran with sword/shield + GS zerk combo and it blasted stuff away. Also has ridiculous amount of Slow condi.
But I would say it’s ok.
When I did try zerker gear on the rev I felt the sword dmg was a little underwhelming as well then I switched to hammer. What co-efficients is this thing using man it hits hard.
Sword is actually stronger. Doesn’t get as high numbers because it’s faster but I had 3,5k hits from last attack on #1. With proper positioning and so on.
Maybe someone had Devastation Trait Dismantle Defenses or something? It removes 2 stacks of stability or 1 stack of stability + goes through with CC. With multiple displacements + this it would actually rather easily destroy enemy stability.
That trait is really good for removing stability. Sword/Axe #5 to remove 2 stacks, Jade Winds for 2 stacks, Unyielding Anguish from mallyx 2 stacks per pulse and so on.
You are wrong on certain things. The trait lines are pretty married to their legends but the weapons are not. I was running dual swords/hammer on Mallyx POWER build and it was doing great for the most part. Also Staff works REALLY well with Shiro as does Hammer.
Didn’t try mace so I can’t comment on that but axe was run by a lot of Revenant players with power builds for the gap closer.
Lol! Not once have I thought about trying Sword/Axe this time around XDDD On to-do list for next time.
Disagree. You can run m/a without mallyx. I actually found it better with jalis + shiro often :P
Tbh I would prefer reducing costs of skills and removing instant 50% energy on legend swap than having current costs and keeping 50% energy on swap and just keep whatever energy you had before swapping making effectively one energy bar for both legends.
Makes swapping legends often a no brainer for the sake of maximizing due to 50% energy which isn’t too fun. Feeling kinda forced to do it or else handicapping myself.
I do also want to throw in that because of this skill’s functionality, it SERIOUSLY needs an evade, but this isn’t really to do with damage.
I am on fence with this. Evade would sort of make this skill have no counterplay besides being on the defensive by enemy players while being open to counterattack can reward them for punishing.
Question is how punishable UA really is. after first hit it’s easily interruptible tbh and if that’s the case longterm it won’t be used too much.
Lots of bugs with some skills as well like #2 hammer #5 sword #5 axe and so on.
I agree that swords are good.
Unrelenting Assault is punished by point CC since teleporting does not give immunity so it’s not an auto win or anything. Stuns, dazes, knockdows, blinds and so on counter it quite nicely. Even dodge and blocks. So it’s not OP but not bad either. Maybe range increase to 600 from 450 ?
Auto-attack chain is kinda wonky. I feel like i gets stucks sometimes but it has more to do with bugs I guess. Still liking it a lot. One of the best if not the best autoattacks in the game.
Precision strike could indeed use increase to 1,5-2s chill or if chill is too strong maybe longer cripple. OR maybe since it’s ‘precision’ make it always crit XD
All in all I am very happy with Sword/Sword & Shiro as well as with Hammer (finally can be a full fledged dmg weapon). Jalis is also nice with Inspiring Reinforcement + Hammers but I kinda dislike Taunt :P 50 is too hefty a cost.
Some traits could use working.
Lots of improvements overall from previous beta.
I don’t see it as a bug.
They said that UA will always teleport you to your starting target. So if that target teleports it teleports you to that target. Seems fine imo.
So basically you want to make changes to something you have not yet tried and have no experience with and if any it’s only a tiny bit.
Thanks but no thanks.
@OP, you know if you are going to complain about a profession you could at least learn how to type it properly :P Otherwise people may think you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
lol, no
/charsssssss
Last i tried, and that means not long ago, you still can CnD + steal for teleport and get hit in.
Balthazar’s Skin for axe/mace/sword/hammer
