Pure condi build. Shield is a no go there
Longbow would be great as a ranged condi weap focused on single target mostly.
Guardian’s sword skill ALWAYS teleported through the wall.
When I still played pvp actively we would have guy Call Target on the trebuchet map in the middle, I would assist him on target and thus have that enemy as my target through walls and use sword to teleport to him (and that’s not the only skill guard has to teleport with)
All in all I love the Revenant but I got some worries of my own. Mostly about weapons and combinations of them.
Right now Sword goes along with axe, shield, hammer and even staff but if you want to make a pure condition build like Rabid then you mostly go for Mace/Axe and… yeah, here is the issue. And what else? Every other weapon is power based. Hammer is a no-go. So is sword and staff really. I feel like condition builds are quite severly limited due to no weapon that goes well with Mace/axe. Maybe Mace/Sword for block but that’s about it.
I also felt there was an issue with not having absolutely any ranged weapon at all that would focus on conditions.
That’s my little worry as it can limit some of the builds and mostly shift focus to power. I get that power/condi may be a little more redeeming but then we more or less gotta go Invocation for better fury to cover up for lack of prec and Mace’s power coefficient is very very very low.
Master of all trades? Were especially good with ranged condition weapon applying conditions at range and we have so many good secondary weapons to go along with mace/axe for condition build… .
Cant we be the enemy debuffing, sustain tanks instead?
Pretty much this. They should make debuffs as effective as boons without trivializing the content. The defiant design of 100% negating all debuffs is horrible and the major responsible of the Necromancer’s lack of party support.
Robert Gee said they are readying something for soft CC like chill on defiant foes. I hope it’s not just a plain breakbar reduction. Debuffs should work exactly like advertised, albeit in a weaker but still relevant fashion. If chill added even a small flat delay like 0.25-0.5s between one attack and next Reapers would be wanted in every PvE instance.
But debuffs are powerful. 25 Vulnerability is (now) better than might + fury tbh and scales with the latter as well. Immobilizes can also be pretty powerful.
Not sure if chill increases CD for enemies too but well :P Blind is also awesome.
You guys need to understand that all classes in this game have a high skill cap.
I wouldn’t necessarily agree with this. Some have a lot higher skillcap and some have a lot lower skillfloor. Want it or not Warrior was always the most simple one even in GW1 and designed/branded as such before even closed betas began.
I think I know what the OP is getting at. Hammer AA with it’s 1s cast feel’s ‘slow’. But that’s probably because he’s use to fast attacking weapons like me e.g. daggers and swords. I actually think the utility of the hammer is fine and if they tried to make the hammer quicker they’d end up nerfing damage. Personally, I think the OP needs to either accept hammer’s are a slow weapon for Rev’s or do what I did and use faster weapons.
I had lots of fun in PvE with S/S + S/Sh (Glint + Jalis/Shiro) and in sPvP M/Sh + St (Mallyx + Glint). I think the hammer is too good to give up for WvW though, but I didn;t test it that much.
Close …. slow and hard hitting would be fine, but as it is it’s just slow and meh. I literally lose more than half of my dps switching from sword to hammer. It’s supposed to feel slow and heavy. It just feels slow.
And yes, I do use sword and staff as well … and having weapon swap mitigates the problem somewhat as I can switch to faster weapons when needed.
How is it not strong? #2 has insane dmg at max range and you can find the sweet spot with 2 hits as well with a bit of skill which resulted for me in 12k dmg (with no vuln and might). IT defo is ahrd hitting with proper gear.
Hammer is fine imo because you can really ramp up its dmg by combing it with the other 4 skills it has.
Good point. It’s a piercing, 100% projectile finisher on an auto-attack with built-in access to a dark field…
And 2 blast finishers
Hammer is awesome imo. My favorite Hammer in the game out of professions using hammer.
It isn’t OP, but it is abit overkill with axe 4 in terms of sticking to enemies.
I would prefer a blink or a “ride the lightning” type ability anyway. That way Revenant has more control over where it is they are dashing towards (for leading/commanding) and also have a proper disengage ability.
thieves still have more mobility if they have a shortbow. Shiro as an assassin is pretty much as close to a thief as you can get, so why not make him mobile? But if necessary the range of PT can be reduced or otherwise the energy cost increased to make up for a more useful ability.
You are aware that revenant has only ONE ranged weapon (easily dodged one at that) ? And none that does condi dmg? Sticking to enemies is what he must have.
And no, cost cannot be increased. It already costs a lot. A LOT. And everything besides #1 costs energy, even our heals.
It’s not OP. It’s working as intended since it counts as a teleport. It cost a TON of energy. With revenant it’s always THIS OR THAT decision. You can’t just spam everything due to energy limitation.
Also rock suggestion is so bad it physically hurts.

Of course it does. If a champion (as keep lords are) is already dead by the time I press 1 and the attack actually hits, that’s a problem.
Just tagging in general with the hammer is very difficult … tab … “nope dead” … tab …. “nope dead” … tab …. “ah, got a hit!” tab …. “nope, dead” … and so on …
So a champ dies in 1 second? Problem is champ, not the skill.
Kiting is meant to be a counter against you, not the other way. That’s why they gave you chill and no gap closers and they are trying, i think, to make you a melee monster with lots of dmg and survival, so you punish people for not kiting you.
There is always Spectral Grasp.
The problem is that reaper has many more vulnerabilities than just kitting.
It has no blocks, invulns and no source of any stability, so is really vulnerable to CC and any burst.
Has no mobility with no real access to swiftness.
So i think the kitting is just another counter the reaper actually doesn’t need.“no stability”…except on the elite 2s unbreakable AE stun (even though the CD is WAY too high)…and 11 seconds of 1-3 stability stacks with Shroud #3, enough to cover casting #4, #5 and if that kills them still safestomp (and if not AE fear). Well, if you have enough LF to do all that, that is.
CttB is 120s true but with 5 targets hit it goes to 78 with trait.
It’s still an amazing skill imo.
They want every class to have some weakness (well, you could argue mesmer and ele here but lets ignore it for the time being). Like with revenant it’s conditions.
Staff mid range ~450-600 autoattack chain with focus on vines, thorns, sunbeam maybe and earth. Some blinds, cripples and knockdowns possibly immobilizes. Definitely some regeneration for support part + spec specific aoe regen that heals additionally to regeneration.
I suppose Druid gets cantrips from ele?
We can’t be too good at keeping up to people, considering if we’re able to constantly stick to people we have a spammable AoE that makes backstab look like a toothpick. Just make our current options a bit more reliable, primarily GS5, and GS3 needs to be a bit longer range.

There will be a fair amount of changes that I have planned and that have come out of the feedback from this last weekend.
I sincerely hope you don’t cave in to Unrelenting Assault complainers and make the skill garbage again.
I also VERY MUCH hope you do not introduce more cooldowns because that would kill the flavour of the class for me and sent energy management down the drain as it would become illusion of choice.

Sounds more like a L2P issue or build issue. I was swimming in adrenaline So I didn’t have any problems with often use of primal bursts.
used to be used for quick adren build in the beginning but later wars built it faster :P
I am actually very surprised they didn’t give it Projectile Destruction or Projectile Reflect. Would love to see that.
I liked Sword/Torch + Longbow combo.
Also stacking ~8-10 burns and 25-32 stacks of bleed quickly felt awesome. Had tops ~4000 bleed ticks and ~3000 burn ticks. It was kinda funny because it is’t sustained condi application like other classes but burst application. I guess you could say burst condi dmg ;p
Because rev does not have attunements and engineer has to sacrifice Uslots for kits?

You can get Weapon Swap if you remove attunements or pick only 1.
No one was asking for the damage to be nerfed or the evade to be completely removed. Suggestions were to shift some of the damage towards the end to make evading the end of the skill a more sound stradegy, or to lower the Evade Duration of UA to 1sec instead of 2 so that at some point during its use it becomes counterable.

Actually we can pull conditions from allies with mallyx rather often and can also purge 3 conditions per player up to 5 players with skill from Ventari technically every 7 seconds if we dedicate to it. It also heals on removing them xD
Rather than threatened you should be happy because Guardian + Revenant combo is looking juicy! Especially with Herald’s Facet of Nature.
Make it lauch enemies up in place like daredevil’s Uppercut does
Funny thing is, is Ventari legend needs the most work but at the same time is the 2nd best legend for some PvE dungeons because of 1 ability – Protective Solace. This pretty much allows 100% projectile block uptime. I can see Revenants replacing Guardians for TT and generally, if a reflect/block class is needed, between this and the hammer 4, revenants have it covered.
That shouldn’t paste over the fact that Ventari needs a lot of work. Agree with most, tablet should spawn automatically on legend swap.
I’d also like the tablet range increased to 1200 from 900.
Then I’d do the following:
- Ventari’s Will – because the tablet no longer moves, it is a static aoe heal, say 3k, on a 10s ICD. This is in addition to the 300 heal the tablet pulses every 3s.
- Protective Solace – Best ability, wouldn;t mind if they allowed you to trait the block for a reflect. Also think the upkeep could be reduced from -8 to -7.
- Natural Harmony – Just plain bad, weak heal, 2s delay and generally not useful at all. Replace this with a -2 upkeep skill that increases outgoing healing by 30% for all party members.
- Purifying Essence – it’s ok as a condi removal but energy costs should be reduced, even if that means removing the heal component. Alternative is to make this into a -2 upkeep cost skill which removes a condition/ converts it to a boon every 3s.
- Energy Expulsion – by the far the worst elite. Just plain bad. My idea is to make it 100 energy cost, 60s ICD but a 600 radius aoe 100% heal. Keep the 2s cast time so in PvP can interupt it. That would make it into a really nice elite.
Those are some of my thoughts, basically please make Ventari fun to play like Glint.

Ventari’s Will with proper gear already does 2k heal on passing through. That’s a lot for spammable thingy. It also procced other “on heal” effects for me like aoe protection and so on.
Protective Solace is great yeah, but not something you use all the time and that’s fine too.
Natural Harmony is actually amazing. I had it heal for 3,5k in aoe constantly. That’s a lot! on top of protection and weakness I provided it made a difference.
Purifying Essence is quite costly but I don’t think it needs cost reduction. It removes up to 3 condis per person from up to 5 players and heals for each condi removed.
Energy Expulsion is too costly with being at 50. Maybe drop it down to 40 and reduce cast time but it still can proc all elite effects on use + besides KB can have a daze.
I actually enjoyed Ventari a lot despite not caring about it before. Had more fun with it than with Glint which I used as secondary here.
conversely a single chill takes about 50% of revenant’s #5 shield defiance bar ;p

Dagger hits 2 targets and only has autoattack going for it, greatsword is a lot slower than life rend so it’s pretty obvious why it has higher coefficient. Didn’t bother with the rest after this.
As I run a build that clears condi’s, even that can’t stand a Reaper’s shroud skills, my characters just are no match to the pure damage a reaper is doing and I find the reaper being just a little bit too much over powered.

Yup. Reaper FUN wise is definitely #1 elite spec for me. That is until Engineer’s elite spec

Cool touch but I wonder when it will become annoying.
If they remove evade from it it becomes useless. We already learned it. Too easy to counter/burst/die while animation is playing
If they nerf damage then it becomes useless because it is only decent vs single target. Autoattack does more dmg vs 2+ enemies. If it’s 2+ enemies this skill is too random and not damaging and only used as a defensive tool
So no, they cannot remove evade or damage without breaking the skill entirely thus making it useless. They would have to change it entirely and I don’t think they will because they worked very hard to make it work and that animation and they have said they wanted it to cleave.
If anything I would cut number of hits from 7 to 4 while keeping the same dmg. So we have stronger burst BUT it takes then just 1 dodge to avoid it instead of 2. It rewards Rev and his enemies depending on who plays better. Rev with burst and enemy if he dodged it. But even this has some issues so it’s not necessarily go-to solution.
I would just leave it as it is. It’s a niche skill.
I agree. Animations are very lazy and bad looking. Like extremely bad.
It’s a spectral scythe. I doubt it weigts much if anything at all.

and he can’t provide all of them perma due to running ot of energy. Just very long times on all + if he does so he literally can only autoattack and nthing else (not even heal because it costs energy too). Other support classes aren’t limited in such a way so we can get more boons than others but at the cost of skill usability by ourselves. The only thing not costing energy is AA.
Worry more about Elementalist with Warhorn.
He can copy all boons on himself to all allies around him. So Herald gives boons and Tempest multiplies them pretty much (with +50% dur due to FoN from rev)
Not massive increases in the CDs…just some adjustments. I think Energy Costs hurt the flow of the weapons to be honest. Just my opinion here!
I’d rather not. I rather have more decisions to make than be limited by CDs icreasingly so. That is my draw to revenant. It it gets more and more CDs I will simply ignore the class entirely.

ANet has absolutely never ever said they don’t want trinity or that there won’ be.
They said there won’t be Holy Trinity (Tank, DPS, Healer) but that they want it more broad-termed Trinity (Control, Damage, Support).
They buffed support specs because it has been all about dmg thus far so only Damage part with little Control & Support.

This is a L2P issue really.
Most people will rather have something nerfed than actually L2P and level up their game, do a research about countering and so on. Like actually put an effort into it.
So I buff the hell out of Tempest with my Herald and he uses his Warhorn to throw it back again @allies for limitless boons.
Note that I can easily stack ~40 sec of protection before and if Tempest copies that it becomes even crazier. Not sure which will get a nerf first. Tempest’s Warhorn or Herald :P
And tempest ofc will use that worhorn skill with heralds facet of nature (+50% boon duration).
It’s not a horror survival game though but darker nights could be a good thing.
UA is fine. Dodge, block, give it more targets and s on. It is as easily countered as 100B.
The only people that have problem with this skill are those who have no idea about rev and his skills or just want it nerfed for the sake of it.
@OP terrible suggestion, so basically tank 6 weak strikes or actually more like 4 and always dodge/block second half to totally nullify the skill every time.
A single dodge cuts this skills dmg by ~50%. Second target is also 50% cut so with dodge and 2nd target you get only ~25% dmg.
If they nerf it then it becomes useless because if it’s mediocre vs single target it will be garbage in every other scenario. Hell, vs 2-3 targets Autoattacking is 10x better than UA :P

Definitely was not weak at what it is designed to do (group support).
Rev is only squishy if you make him squishy.
I’ve absolutely no idea why people love the shield. It’s protection is short, the heal small and its 5 a liability. Any other weapon set offers so much more.
Personally I run Herald/Shiro with sinister gear, Mace/Axe and Hammer or Staff. Works exceptionally well with ridiculous power and condition damage. It’s incredibly easy to maintain 20 might stacks with plenty of crit chance.
Depends. It did heal for me ~3400 on use in aoe with apothecary gear. So I defo liked #4. #5 was meh.
My guess shield is mostly intended for group use instead of for self use.

It’s not too high. Too many people running with 0 defenses.
Anyways! I tried support Apothecary Revenant Herald/Ventari and let me tell you I felt like I made a difference! Heals everywhere and people staying alive. Like vs that Legendary Drake event.
I was in Apo gear with mace/shield + mace/axe along with Runes of Monk (normally would probably use altruism). Had a lot less hp and a lot less Armor.
How did I survive?
Weakness + protection + healing. Simple. Hammer from Jalis GM trait applies weaknes all around you and that helps a feaking lot, protection further reduces incoming dmg and healing covers what little dmg goes in.
Of course there are a must avoid attacks or die. If there weren’t then it would be too much of a tank and spank.
They didn’t buff support roles sky hogh just for lols of it. I fully expect raids to have 2 dedicated support players so each can cover 5 dudes in a raid of 10 since it drastically improves everyones survival.

Prefer it as is due to heal on pass through.
Also allies should also try to use the tablet. Like with combo fields they try to use them, they should also try to work with you and tablet and not just have you chase them.
