I would really not be patting myself on the back to much there slick, you guys really dont have much to be proud of, you guys cant gain any ground in CD bl unless you wait until we are fighting both realms at once and I dont mean just at more than one area, I am talking about FA and IOJ fighting side by side against our twrs and keeps. You can deny it all you want but I have witnessed it at our twr and garrison.

And not at all like when we (IoJ) were in the midst of a 3 hour defense at Bay from CD and then FA takes the opportunity to golem-rush hills.

It happens. Put on your big girl panties and keep going.

I’m really tempted to transfer to a Tier 1 server and see how hard I can troll. I imagine that would get some needed attention.

Interesting idea for a solution though – the claiming guild has a public and a private supply stash, and only the claiming guild can order upgrades.

So, my IRL friend who doesn’t do WvW and resides on another server – I can ask him to switch to CD, send him some gold, and tell him to go have some fun in CD’s borderlands, and that’s just cool?

If it is, I need to switch tactics. That’s a MUCH easier way to drain a keep’s supply than sieging it!

So on IoJ yesterday, we had a breather in the early evening. We took the opportunity to start upgrading and stocking Bay for the attack that would surely come. And it did.

And as we’re defending, a person who doesn’t frequent WvW (I at least recognize most of the names out there by now) comes into the keep, builds a golem, marches it out the gate and bails out. I reported him and tried to call him out on his actions, but he just said “I’m having some fun” and to get a life.

How do you handle this type of sabotage? Is it just “part of the game”? Is it a bannable offense? What’s to stop me or someone else from having another account just to do this type of thing?

Can we get a better reporting option?
Right now it’s something like selling gold, scamming, botting, or inappropriate name – none of which really fall into this category.

. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built….

How about you encourage that by making waypoints less crotch-kickingly expensive? I know balancing the economy is important, but you’re cutting off your nose to spite your face. I intentionally limit my travel around (and limit my sight-seeing) because of it.

Have a free-travel weekend and watch what happens.

Respawn time should be a function of the number of players on it’s hate list when it dies.

Base respawn of 2 minutes, and every person up to 5 takes 10 seconds off the respawn timer.

to be fair? When I say in the middle of a siege, I mean that the guild that I am in has placed at least 2-4 guild in siege to bomb a wall or door, not to mention the repair costs to our armor trying to get the supply camps, etc etc etc. on sunday night, we were literally going on hour 4 to get into a bay and BOOM, no more. They are killing WvW with all these little petty updates.

Being on the other side of that siege, I can tell you with certainty that your server took the keep immediately after the reset anyway. Nothing really changed, as sudden resets almost always effect your opponents in an equally damaging way.

In any case, it still needs to stop. We already spend a ridiculous amount of money on siege weapons. No need to salt the wound by making it disappear into thin air.

Nope. On IoJ, we were having our keep in EB was seriously sieged, walls had just dropped, and we were facing imminent loss of the keep due to trebbing.

Boom, new build.

We get back in asap, and as the keep is 2x closer for us, we were able to grab supply and repair the walls PLUS get counter-trebs up before they got the whole way across the map to us.

It was a huge help to us, but it could have just as easily been the other way around. They need to plan these better or give more warning. In WvW there is literally a 20-30 second warning.

Give time for a final do or die push.

Playing the scout felt like what I wanted the ranger to be in GW2. It made me kind of sad.
That being said, I just play my thief like a ranger and it’s still closer to my ideal than the actual ranger. Le sigh.

I agree with the under-water issue. I had a mesmer and a guardian kicking my kitten under water, downed me quickly, and then spent the next 10 minutes trying to finish me off and finally gave up.

Remove rallying from PVE mobs.
Make stomping 2x as fast.

5 weeks in a row is ridiculous. I, and a good number of other people have resorted to just constant griefing. It’s the only thing that’s fun. Other than that, I’m boycotting til someone at Anet figures out that this is the antithesis of a good system.

Yeah, that’s what I don’t understand. It didn’t need a buff – it was a more than adequate heal. The issue we complained about was that it would screw up and
1) call other pets
2) just stand over you and provide no heal at all, often it, seemed, if there was any kind of uneven ground
3) The pet would be almost dead at the time of using it, and then it would die immediately
4) The skill is unavailable for 7 or 8 seconds when first going down almost every time. What the hell is up with that?

As far as I know, they didn’t actually look into the problems at all and just tossed a perceived band aid on it.

I agree that it’s not apples to apples exactly, but other classes have traits to lower their cooldowns as well, beyond the 30 seconds. My argument is that Lightning Reflexes should be lowered to a 30 CD.

Everyone has 4 active stun breakers except rangers. We have 2.

Everyone has a stun break on a 30 second time except:
Elementalists share our 45 second
Necros have a 40 second.

Shared Anguish isn’t an ability you can choose to use when you need it. Hide in plain sight isn’t a stun breaker.

So yes, it appears that rangers have a combination of fewer stun breakers and the longest max cooldown.

The OP is talking about the fact that the red bar as a in range/out of range indicator doesn’t take into account traits that increase range, and it seems that the auto-attack is based on the same trait-less calculation. You can still manually fire and hit the person, but you have to keep pressing “1”.

If you’re in the “extended range” area the red “out of range” indicator shows and auto attack turns off, but you’re still in range via traits. It’s a bug, and it’s stupid.

I think it bears pointing out that as soon as I see an enemy with the Out-manned buff, that side is instantly a target, and a mad rush is made to take their assets. It practically screams “our stuff is undefended right now”, and I don’t think that’s the intention. It’s suppose to be a beneficial thing and not a detriment.

Frankly, I’d like to see the visibility of all beneficial buffs removed from invaders.

We’re annoyed because an obscure, annoying as hell to abuse bug got fixed before actual build-breaking bugs were.

edit I’m referencing the double trap thing, not the stealth-nerf-then-back-peddle-then-insult-us-and-our-playing-style-then-make-lots-of-promises-and-then-fail-to-deliver thing.

I agree. I’m much happier since getting my thief to 80. I still use my ranger for his set of MF, but that’s about it.

I have a thief pet and it’s awesome. You get it by following these instructions:
1) Log off your Ranger
2) create a thief
3) level to 80
4) go to WvW for the first time and still freaking pwn.
5) get around to acquiring exotic armor
6) go back to WvW
7) ????
8) PROFIT!

I’m currently on steps 4 and 5, and I can’t recommend it enough.
Thief pets totally rock.

So what’s your definition of “ranger”? It’s not a roamer, it’s not an archer, it’s lacking mobility (when compared to other classes, holy crapballs batman)… Rangers excel at NOTHING. They’re mediocre in a few specific builds, and in the hands of a skilled player they can be decent.

A monkey beating a keyboard on a thief will be more acrobatic, mobile, damaging, and damage avoiding than your average ranger.

Actually, I’m pretty sure there was a change. Whereas before (and also still in the tooltip) you countered with a kick that pushed enemies backwards, you now do a horizontal chop with your greatsword that doesn’t push enemies back. The attack also no longer cleaves and only hits one target.

Oh man, now it’s turned into a Double stealth nerfage! All the way across the sky!!!! It’s so beautiful!! What does it mean?

People saying that rangers are fine have been refuted by Jon Peters himself, so that’s not even part of the argument. And a class being fun to play has only a marginal part of the discussion. I enjoy the ranger mechanic – I don’t enjoy guildmates being unhappy that I’m along instead of another class.

We’re currently in a dysfunctional relationship. We’ve been nerfed, lied to about said nerf, placated with promises, and then had those promises broken.

I feel like some people are suffering from Stockholm syndrome…..

Stomping (along with building/repairing and healing downed players) is supposed to be twice as fast. It used to be, but doesn’t seem to be working for me either. The animation fires at double speed, and then I continue to stand there for the full duration and the flag just suddenly appears.

I suppose to fix that animation glitch, we probably shouldn’t be able to stomp people at all.

And other pets will come over to you, and also not heal you. And I also love that 9 times out of ten, Lick wounds still has 8 seconds left until I can use it, which is always a few seconds longer than I have to live.

I remember being very confused by this initially. I think it would be worth giving newbies a stack of 10 of each gathering tool in their inventory with instructions. Or perhaps make it a starting area quest to mine something…

Either way, it wasn’t immediately obvious and could be made more clear.

It’s not 10 from any source. It’s 10 from another player (and maybe BL Store?). Story messages and heart rewards don’t count.

Spectacularly stated. Warriors are not meant to be the best pure DPS. They’re supposed to be the best balance of giving and taking damage. There should be a simple sum: avoidance, durability, and output. (oversimplified and off the cuff, but relevant)
Ideal:
Class Avoidance Durability Output Total
Warrior 2 6 6 14
Thief 6 0 8 14
Guardian 1 8 5 14
Engineer 5 3 6 14
Ranger 4 3 7 14

Right now it’s more like:

Accurate logs would just be used against Anet. Within an hour you would have baseline DPS charts for every class at every level and accurate formulas for predicting DPS. You’d also have every weak class (*cough*RANGERS*cough*) dropped to the curb like a used prostitute.

It would take away from the “fun” of playing, only having a vague feeling that you’re sub-par instead of knowing it.

— yeah, and thieves SB also actively seeks its target and kicks the everloving crap out of our sb. Add in their 25% swiftness, and I kite like a fiend on my thief and like a greasy spot on the road on my ranger.

AlexRD: The other 2 classes I’ve gotten to ~40, thief and mesmer (yeah, I’m going to join the OPs), both have on every weapon set that I can think of BOTH utility AND dps increasing abilities.

Sure, we get some survive-ability out of them. So do they. They also OMGWTF spike damage out of the bargain. And since our utility tends to be self-preservation style, pretty much anyone else could better fit any role that a ranger can fill.

Being a developer myself (paid website w/ forums and stuff), I tend to recognize trying to sugar coat things – because I’ve done them myself. That’s all. I’m worried that rangers will be disappointed, but it will be drowned out by “OMG SHINIES!”

It’s easy to miss the kneeling as soon as you’re facing more than 2-3 people, not to mention if you’re doing a keep assault. No one should be able to do that at 1500 range.

And the rage requirement? It’s refilled in 4-5 seconds from the video. He can do that every 10-15 seconds? Faster than QZ by any means.

Does anyone else find it really frustrating that they’re going to be releasing a major rebalancing in the same day as releasing new, short-duration content? I have limited play time, but once the balance changes are out, I want to test the everloving crap out of them. But I don’t think I’ll be able to at the risk of missing the content.

Is this planned? Is the new content an intentional distraction?

What can the rationalization can they have for this timing?
