Still not very deep.

My guess is this is going to be something like the Kael’Thas fight in Tempest Keep. The super powerful weapons that drop in there are limited to that dungeon alone to assist in fighting Kael’Thas.

Simple as that. You find more and more ascended gear while in the dungeon to help you continue going deeper, and deeper into the dungeon. Just a gimmick.

Most likely just speculation from this site, and thus, a poo-storm erupts on the forums.

This is first page i found:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/08/28/guild-wars-2-review-part-one-still-grinding-after-all-these-years/

Really for 100th time , please dont make it grind fest, please.

The whole game is a grind fest.

??

No it isn’t. The only grind this game has at the moment is optional cosmetic grind.

Most, if not all people agree with that. A gear-threadmill however, is not OK.

And 2% more stats that isn’t required for ANYTHING, is mandatory how exactly?

Exotic items aren’t mandatory either, right? You’ll do just fine in common-rarity (white) stuff you bought from an armorsmith npc.

What a joke.

LOL what a good example, way to over-exaggerate another point for your own silly argument.

Rare gear is nearly just as good as Exotics, you can do anything in this game in Rare gear with no problems.

And you actually bring up another point, why is there White/Blue/Green gear in this game? It’s a gear treadmill, why aren’t you crying about that???

That isn’t a Treadmill, that is gearing up your character. White/Blue/Green can all easily be got and then Exotics is what you work towards at the end.

A treadmill is when they constantly add better gear that you have to grind to get. We already have to grind up to get Exotics one way or another, why do we have to do it again for Ascended?

No, that IS a treadmill.

Using that argument. If they launched the game with 3 additional tiers past Exotic, that wouldn’t be considered a treadmill until they added a 4th additional tier.

It’s all technically a treadmill.

I’m actually really happy about this, considering that the new armor won’t be too much better (like more than +5% in stats). Even now everyone can do anything in rare armor just as well as in exotic, so please cut the “mandatory” and “treadmill” bs. There will finally be a goal in PVE other than the legendary weapons.

Yeah, this could probably be a gap between current rewards and legendaries, and probably even a bridge to Legendary Armor. The game could REALLY use more cosmetic carrots. Even non-mandatory stat carrots.

Hell look at the Tri-Amulet, you don’t see people complaining about that 100g amulet that gives additional stats do you? It’s literally worse than the slight stats difference with Ascended. That’s what I find so hilarious.

Once this game starts looking more and more like World of Warcraft; I promise you I won’t be logging in anymore.

Stat increase, level increase, anything increase is a treadmill. Sure it works, makes a lot of money but, go ask your average gamer how “fun” it is.

Compared to GW1 this game was already really close to a WoW-clone.

Ever play an MMO before? If you want to do a lot of WvWvW or Dungeons that 2% will become mandatory.

So not only is there going to be stronger gear that makes the stuff we worked for become outdated but you have to do dungeons to get it as well? Well looks like the 15th will be the end of this game for me, just when I thought I had found the MMO for me.

Can’t believe people are happy about this.

I’m at the point where I think the GW2 community is more sensationalist than the WoW community. Please stop pulling your hair out until we have factual information. Complaining and threatening to quit over something you know nothing about is such a toxic attitude, and you’re giving a really bad impression to possible new comers to the game.

Factual information? We have a preview of new content that Anet would have to have given to these guys. If this new armour isn’t an improvement over old armour then the article either wouldn’t have said it is or somebody would have come into this thread by now to explain the mistake.

Its either gear treadmill (possibly only through one aspect of the game) or poor communication to their players and secrecy.

Both are awful stop defending it.

Except that 2% won’t. Hey if you like pugging with random “wannabe-elites” enjoy. They already have there own silly “requirements”.

Hell, both of my 80’s are still in Rare gear. The TINY TINY stat difference wasn’t worth the money sink, atleast not right away. I’m just slowly working on exotics while doing EVERYTHING the game has to offer with no problems.

If you people truly are going to freak out of a tiny gear tier difference, you should’ve been up in arms from Day 1 about the different gear levels, Blue/Green/Yellow/Orange, and would’ve quit if Anet didn’t hand you a free exotics every 4 levels.

If you want free rewards, WoW is that way —→

Maybe this just isn’t the game for you? (Gotta love that stupid line!)

Just for comparison.

Look at the game Champions Online. They eventually introduced gear stat mods that scaled up in ranks, up to 9 or so, and to get past 5-6 was a huge pain/grind/money sink. The stat difference was INSANELY SMALL however wasn’t even close to being required to do anything. It was there for someone people who feel like sinking money/time into it as a goal.

The rest of the game was cosmetic.

Yeah right, dont stop them from building the bomb, but wait for it to be dropped on some poor country and then complain.
You, sir/madam, are a prime example of what is wrong with the modern generation.

To follow this example.

This is like listening to Fox News about said bomb dropping and it turns out to be a load of exaggerated bull.

You people seriously need to chill out. Even if the gear has 2% more stats that doesn’t make a kitten difference. It’s not required for anything, 2% more stats would never make such a difference in the first place.

To make the most of it, (and to not actually hurt yourself in the process) you have to blow a condition transfer even then that’s only 4 stacks of bleed and only Plague Signet is instant/reliable. I prefer Corrupt Boon by far, just more useful overall IMO.

Should just make it a super self boon utility that requires HP sacrificing. If different specs and playstyles were actually there, there could be some interesting stuff between lifesteals and health sacrificing in the blood tree.

GW2 Lacking...some Magic

Knote.2904

I agree 100% with you.

There are some bits of lower level maps that actually have a slightly tough Champion mob that isn’t required to be killed as it’s not guarding a skillpoint or a vista or anything.

As long as these things don’t impede with people trying to solo-complete zones I don’t see why anyone would object.

There’s a couple I’ve seen already such as the named Pirate in Gendarren or the Centaur Sage guy that are pretty much impossible to solo. However there’s really no reason to kill them, there’s no loot or anything that makes it worth it, on top of that they’re boring fights, just super hard auto attacking mobs.

If the “whole game is endgame” then they really need to make it so. Have some hidden areas with an arena with some legit bosses with actual mechanics and give them some unique cosmetic rewards or something.

It’s so boring leveling this game once you get past the exploration fluff, because it’s just so easy and ends up being a heart/POI/vista/waypoint grind.

i drop the case.

why people play&complain&play is beyond me.

Because maybe they like the game and want it to be even better?

Just because you can settle or can be easily satisfied doesn’t mean everyone can.

Lions Arch Culling + Asuran Munchkin Effect

So this has been creeping me out for a while now, the culling that happens in Lions Arch tends to “squash” my character’s model basically removing his neck and squishing his booty a little.

It’s really disturbing when your running around and your asura turns into this neckless midget.

First 2 pics are a standing comparison.

The rest are while running, with the last 2 my char being his normal neck-full self.

It feels like a complete waste of time to bother grinding for skins for my asura cause it goes completely to waste, it’s really depressing me. =/

More BOSS-like Bosses and even Mobs!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Knote.2904

Knote.2904

What I mean by this, is your classic larger boss with legit boss mechanics and attacks.

The best example I can think of is the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan from the Personal Story mission and Ettin mobs.

There’s simply too many boring tank and spank bosses and mobs that also have instant high dmg auto attack’s which is the by far the worst decision IMO.

While neither of these 2 examples above were difficult to fight whatsoever (although there isn’t many difficult fights in the game period, but that’s a slightly different topic) they are definately the most fun and intuitive to fight by far.

The bullet spray move the Sovereign Eye has that forces you to bullet-dance in order to get close to fight him was really, really fun, and he had a couple other very flashy moves. It truly felt like a classic raid-boss style of fight. GIANT arena, one big boss that teleports around with flashy attacks and gimmicks, then it’s up to you and your skill to defeat him.

Onto Ettins, they are definately the best mobs in this game as far as the Action RPG style of the game goes. They have no instant pimpslap auto attacks, just clearly telegraphed slow attacks that are even completely positional based (His frontal cone knockdown). I cry whenever I run past a certain mob that INSTANTLY whips around and just smacks me for a hard hitting auto attack like a classic MMO mob.

And again, while Ettins may be easy mobs, that isn’t what I’m asking for (to make things easier), I would LOVE to have harder mobs, harder boss fights, but not harder because they constantly auto attack you for massive amounts of dmg.

Target of target and player cast bars are low priority <— seriously??
For an action based mmorpg?
Omg Anet what have you been smokin?

i don’t even know what these mean, but i’ll guess:

target of target means seeing in the UI who your target is aiming. for a game that you rarely if ever have to target someone (i do just fine with target assist), it really is pointless.

player cast bars, i assume is being able to see your enemy’s cast time and what they’re using. once again, pointless in a game that hardly has cast bars, and most last 3 seconds at most, and where each skill is visually unique.

i see those being very useful in non-action MMOs, but in action MMOs, the visual hints are more than enough.

For ANY action game it is incredibly important to have extremely clear visual feedback so you actually can react to stuff. Atm this game fails at that quite a bit, too many mobs have auto attacks that go off instantly, some have charged attacks that aren’t very clear or distinct at all, alot also get completely inundated with particle effects making it impossible to see their animations at all.

If EVERY mob attacks like an Ettin it would be better overall, but even then, particles blind everyone. Having cast bars wouldn’t be a big deal at all, whether they add cast bars or make everything much easier to see, it doesn’t matter, but one of those needs to.

And gw1 had very short cast times (1/4 to 1 second) and had cast bars, one of the best features of GW1 IMO. Very fluid/clear ability visual feedback and would even let you read the description of the abilities used so you could learn faster.

For me necro is the only class that entertains me and if you don’t like your profession then of course you don’t like the game because everything you will do in the game requires you to use the 1-10 skills/weapon swap.

What am i expecting? Make our fundamental skill aka Death shroud useful again, maybe?
On second thought, i suggest to just revamp this profession from scratch and start there, but thats just me.

Yeah I pretty much feel the same way.

My only other char is my War that I just got to 80, the only thing I really like about them is their ranged options. But overall the dmg and functionality is just amazing in comparison and it just depresses me.

Necro is 150% my class and playstyle and I just want it so bad to be where it should be. Even if EVERY bug is fixed it doesn’t change the fact that their traits and weapon skills are boring/uninteresting.

All this class does is make me miss my warlock from WoW, Vanguard Necro, Allods Summoner, GW1 Necro etc.

The main problem is difficult or lack of complex fights/content. The shallowness of the combat system could be made up for with the action part of the game if fights were more difficult.

Although I really hope they make the skills/builds more complex and add more variety. Traits should definately be a little more game changing IMO. Completely changing how skills work and stuff.
