Hey don’t forget our other awful minor trait, 66% chance on crit to bleed for 1 second.
I’m loving my warrior’s equivalent, 33% chance on crit to bleed for a full 5 seconds. 2.5x better.
I see. That should be something they at the least discuss reworking then.
If they let % dmg mod’s affect conditions, then they’ll have to let % dmg mitigation reduce it, including protection, which could either make it awful or OP, and it loses it’s uniqueness of eating through mitigation as true dmg. Then people will probably start asking for conditions to crit.
It’s most likely not going to happen.
Vulnerability hasn’t reduced armor for a while now.
It works exactly the same, a basic % dmg increase. Which only affects Direct Dmg.
I’d rather have Spectral Grasp and Dark Path swapped.
There’s just so few times I actually want to teleport into melee range. And many times I want to use it for the chill/bleed to kite or w/e. It’s just for fitting for the slow tanky caster to yank stuff to him. It’d need to be adjusted slightly to make it not OP though.
Then dark path could be beefed up into some awesome ground target teleport or something, maybe make it do an aoe fear. Or even better, give us the Scarecrow teleport from that Lunacy game lol.
a) Is DS underwater at a place you’re happy with? The abilities seem a bit crap, and unless I’m imagining it the animation for attack one is horribly slow.
I actually just found out the other day that the poison/blind skill is actually a pulsing field lol. It’s like 5 seconds long or so which is actually pretty kitten good considering the cooldown, but the Plague Blast man, that thing is just awful, the dmg is bad, the cast time and that horrible disable after using it, bleh.
I actually kind of wish we had that poison/blind field on our land DS lol. The single redeeming feature of our UW DS, the rest including the weapon skills are just make me cringe whenever I see underwater content.

I don’t know why people keep thinking it’s going to work for condition dmg, that’s not a bug, it’s intended..
% Dmg increases don’t affect conditions nor do % Dmg decreases.
TBH I hate both the wvw and dungeon requirement.
Yeah it should be account bound.
Not going to bother trying to get it on my lowbie alts.
Hey I’m all for making it a good elite. Becoming a nearly unkillable walking smoke field for 20 seconds is boring. Your argument is with bunkers in general though.
I want to see a Life Force/Death Shroud revamp that actually involves Life Force management. Spending life force for certain attacks/heals/cc/pets and more interesting ways to gather life force. Also turn Life Blast from a slow spammable dps ability to a large Life Force dump that explodes on impact and looks amazing and does great burst dmg.
And besides all the mechanical things i’d like to see, I’d love to see some lovin’ for our aesthetics. Gnarlier looking pets, give em some spikes and stuff, more awesome spectral-esque skills/effects.
Also some unique DoT abilities would be cool, like Warrior offhand sword that puts a unique dot that applies bleeds over time, or Guardian Greatsword aoe pull dot that isn’t a condition.
It’d also be cool to have Epidemic apply conditions for like 2 seconds instead of just one instance, so any conditions being applied after you cast it for 2 seconds get spread as well, that would be incredibly handy.
That’s all it good for……
You should be careful what you wish for.
Personally I think everything should be account bound except maybe soulbound gear and USED dyes.
I could care less whether or not dyes were account bound or not. It does seem pointless to make them char bound but it’s not a big deal to me.
We have one, it’s tied to minions. =p
Word filters are an uphill battle against an enemy that cannot die.
Air port security.
There was that one word that was censored on the forums that was apparently a bad word in french or something stupid like that.
It is a bit ridiculous.
Another example I’ve seen is this : “woulkittenep” which is “would I ceep” with a K.
^ Because it spelled a homosexual insult across 3 words lol.
The game still has alot of work before it can be a true, serious esport.
LoL wasn’t even close to an esport when it released.
People are upset because they’re passionate about the game (which is awesome) and they want it to live up to its full potential.
I don’t take negative posts personally. Rather, I try to put myself in their shoes, listen to what they’re really trying to say (once you get past the rage), and try to find a way to fix the cited issues, if I think they’re good for the game.
Exactly what the LoL reds used to say. Hopefully the game turns out to be as successful/awesome in the long run. =D
I actually just made a thread in the suggestion forums about this somewhat.
I personally think having so much of your stats tied to traits is a bad idea. There’s too many cases with builds where you feel like you have to trait a certain way just because of the stats you gain, especially when leveling.
Not to mention it only forces certain stats on you when you want to trait a specific way. The traits themselves should be good/specific enough to warrant traiting into a tree based on its playstyle. Like a Condition Necro will still trait into Curses because the traits deal with improving conditions, and not because it gives you up to 300 more condition dmg, which is ALOT.
Another example is a squishy class like Ele that feels obligated to spec into Water just because it’s extra Vitality they desperately need to not die from a sneeze.
Instead the 700 Primary and 70% secondary stats (Boon/Cond/Crit Dmg) from 70 trait points could be baked into gems instead, maybe adding gem slots to Armor and/or Weapons if you want it to be spread out more. And the stats for the class specific trait bonus (Arcane/Soul Reaping/Beast Mastery/Trickery/Illusions/etc) could be similar to how WoW’s Mastery Stat works.
This could also give way to adding new secondary stats for people customize their playstyle even further.
It’s not the lack of available skills at any given time, it’s the lack of playstyle customization and choice that ends up making it boring.
It would be fine if the game was challenging and engaging enough that the ACTION part of the game could make up for the lack of skills, but for the most part (especially when leveling) it doesn’t. So leveling starts to feel like a boring grind.
TBH the small pool of skills 5-10 from weapons and 3-5 from utilities is fine IF not only the game was challenging enough to make you have to think/react more but also if Traits actually did their job in truly customizing your playstyle and abilities, they don’t really change how you play or change how your skills function nearly enough.
even if we can’t post in every thread.
That implies you have posted in threads.
Also the new post offers no info.
It just says effectively “pls don’t go, we promise to be nice”
I don’t understand how anyone can be pleased by this.
Because it’s still better than nothing.
Our necro-jesus has returned to give us hope.
Swinging a heavy weapon = casting spells now apparently. =p
That was all we needed Jon, just so you know.
Just something to show us we’re not invisible. Lol.
There should definately be a title.
Make it 100 completions. I want it.
Aside of people facerolling with the mad king costumes it’s pretty fun.
There’s too much cc though overall.
I just don’t like how it’s pretty much 100% about RNG and money. I’m never really impressed when I see someone with a legendary already, either they had alot of help or bought gold.
Wish there was an actual skill element to it.
@ Knote : that’s why you have bloodlust on an offhand or secondary wep, so you have both bloodlust stacks working while ur roflstompin with firesigil =)
Well I was talking about 2 handers, but yeah. =p
Think it’s only been about 2 months… maybe i’m forgetting a month somewhere.
They’re counting beta as well, since we haven’t changed much since then.
We’re still in beta. =p
I don’t think it was nerfed because of the PvE lol.
It’s incredible in pvp. Sometimes the top dmg dealing phantasm depending on the state of your target, even 3-4 conditions should make your warlock hit the hardest, and on top of that it’s ranged.
Defender definately has alot more by default, I know some utility ones die even faster than normal ones like Disenchanter.
Would be nice to adjust fan to not be a shotgun ability, while they’re at it.
Melee skill on a long bow.
Difference between a thief being unkillable and say a bunker, is that the thief can do that and be glass cannon.
Although magus might have been pretty ‘meh’, it definately had some major style. The spell effects looks awesome as hell, and since their dmg was so weak and they had so many dots you really got the pleasure of watching all those pretty, pretty numbers.
Not to mention they actually had some more interesting dot spells, for us, especially since the way the game runs on “conditions” every condition spell is pretty much the same. =/
The fact that giving Moa 90% dmg resistance still makes it extremely good should say something. =p
I forsee more underwater combat.
Le sigh.
Not a Thief problem. It happens with every profession.
Still needs a fix though.
It happens way more often with thief (and mesmer) because of stealth.
This happens in spvp too.
If only we and our spells looked as sexy haha. =p
Unless they fixed it (which im 99% sure they didnt) the tooltip states 4 seconds base but it’s actually a 5 second base bleed. And hemo by itself adds 1 tic, as 20% of 5 is 1.
Yeah, hell even after calculating, I think fire sigil comes out ahead against Bloodlust even at full stacks, but that sort of depends on your attacks.
It is insane though. I almost NEVER use Air Sigil, the single time I ever used it was when I was trying out thief back stab cheese builds.
The difference is literally like 5% lol.
^ This. I would like to see an option for this, at the very least it’s better than having people be completely invisible and untargetable.
Also to the OP, with a build like that you really could make use of the Earth Signet, should’ve just swapped to that while u were out of combat, he can’t use invis to save him from that, assuming he wasn’t managing infiltrator strikes very well, you could’ve gibbed him.
But yeah, stealth rendering is a massive issue, it happens in spvp too btw, occasionally. It’s actually quite stupid with thief builds based on Cloak and Daggering every 4-5 seconds, since if you aren’t rendered you’ll be pretty much invisible 100% of the fight.
P/D builds for instance.
We MUST have a Sylvari Plant Tower Defense.
Plants versus Zombies. Regular Tower Defense, etc.
It’s definately a huge advantage.
Try playing an asura Rifle Warrior versus a Charr/Norn rifle warrior.
MASSIVE Difference. I’ve been able to get off killshots on an asura warrior point blank before they realize what I’m doing lol. This is coming from someone who’s most character’s are asura (because I like them, not for the advantage). My warrior is a charr now.
On the flip side, bigger races get a much better camera distance than asura. It feels claustrophobic on an asura, and especially in downed states.
^ Asura Mesmer.
kKagari : Human Ranger /shrug
edit : Asura Necro. And stop cheating!
(edited by Knote.2904)
I think the events they were talking about was the Lunatic Halloween chain stuff.
Considering we have been ignored forever and Ranger’s got a post talking about all their underwhelming utility options, traits, and everything, I’m going to assume Rangers will be getting a ton of fixes in terms of balance and build variety while necro’s continue to get completely ignored.
The fact that they give ranger’s a post like that, and we still don’t get ANYTHING is completely insulting.
Any of us that live in Washington could get together and go picket protest in front of their offices lol.
Just to post my feedback I agree 100% with the OP.
This actually felt like a boss fight, granted it was actually very easy, this is what Story Modes for dungeons should be TBH. An enjoyable (stress-free) immersive fight.
And for explorable, this is what boss fights should aim to be, not SUPER long, with some actual mechanics, not just kiting and dpsing a mob that is a giant hp sponge with one shot abilities.
Also another ACTUAL boss that should really be an example is the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan from personal story, THAT was a legit, old school BOSS FIGHT. Giant arena, giant boss, no crummy auto attacks or one shot mechanics (that aren’t hard to see/avoid) but just interesting gimmicks or special attacks. The bullet spray dancing was really fun. Again, it was a very easy fight, but the perfect example of a boss fight I want to see more of.
The downed state is the reason there’s so much constant high dmg and random one shots everywhere.
It’s simply not fun being in the downed state half the time. Nor is it hard, someone get’s randomly one shot? Just pick em back up. It’s not challenging or thought-provoking either, there’s barely any interesting mechanics or gimmicks, especially with bosses, most were just KITE and spank.
I’d say the story modes really tarnish peoples’ view of dungeons, first dungeon I did was AC story, was a nightmare, 3-4 ranged mobs that just sit there spamming non stop dmg that hits for like 1/3 – 1/4 your health, there’s not enough dodges for that, nor uptime on reflect/blind, atleast not with a PUG for STORY mode. It was just terrible.
I finally decide to bother with dungeons again in my 70’s, run CoE story mode, it wasn’t hard, there was SO many one shot abilities, some you can’t even see because it’s from an asura mob that’s doused in particle effects, but that doesn’t make it hard, the mob just had a billion hp, you sit there killing it over like a 10 minute period, it randomly one shots people, you run over pick them up in 2 seconds, repeat til it’s dead, that’s pretty much how most of the fights went.
Then there was the room that spawns like literally 30 mobs that all do a bunch of dmg and have a ton of hp, we ended up spending 30 minutes or so just kiting mobs in a giant circle in the room while we slowly killed them all off.
Then of course I finally do some explorable modes, easiest thing ever and short, it was almost like it was backwards, story mode is the hard mode apparently…
Well if you’re running a power build you’re going to be forced to spam Life Blasts atleast 50% of the time, so get used to it.
Other than that you’ll rely on well cooldowns for bursts of actual good dmg, or minions for extra dmg, then once you dip below 50% life force go back to underwhelming staff auto’s, or dagger auto’s + mark spam, then back to life blast spamming.
Or you can go condition and auto attack stuff down even slower, although stacking your bleeds then popping epi is nice, I found power to just be better overall for leveling, same if not better dps, more versatile, burst basic mobs down faster, etc.
The most fun you’ll get with necro is weaving in and out of DS for dmg and CC, kiting stuff, interupting stuff, tanking stuff with DS. You can take on some giant groups of mobs and come out alive pretty well. Just don’t expect huge variety in skill/trait choices while leveling.
Also, although minion builds are pretty boring, you can really kill things fast and have even crazier survivability between chaining the cc’s and having pets constantly tanking stuff for you.
The only thing necro is better at than mesmer is aoe. For tagging and stuff that’s excellent, but in this case it’s more about single target dps.
For the most part Mesmer is a better Necro than Necro’s are, it’s almost like mesmer’s are what Necro’s should’ve been. Truly well done temporary pets that are really fluid and responsive, and also can do a ton of dmg and be customized more. Arguably better condition builds even having 2 seperate condition builds. Still has really good boon strip and condition transfer/management.
It sucks but what are you gonna do? Necro’s are still in beta, Mesmer’s aren’t aside from their messy mechanics (but they recieved a bunch of band aid fixes for that).
It’s much more satisfying to just sit there with 3 hard hitting phantasms out and a hard hitting auto attack, while the necro over there is slowly spamming Life Blasts then going back to underwhelming staff attacks and waiting on Well cooldowns. Or just sceptre auto’ing with the occasional grasping hands/mark of blood. =/
I’ve been playing mesmer next to necro since beta, so keep in mind I’m not being biased here.
