Log in and chop down 5 trees, salvage some junk i had to go get off low level mobs, maybe do a boring easy dungeon, and talk to the laurel vendor. I then receive my anet issued 1 laurel per day. Then Proceed to find a group for fractals a dungeon I have run 9001 times so I can have a shot at a ring and my anet issued 1 pristine relic per day. Look down at my keyboard and think well guess i have no reason to be online anymore till tomorrow, but hey in 2 months ill have a piece of jewelry that is 5% better than the one that took me 5 minutes to get.
This is the endgame in GW2… doing dailies. Who would of thought a company could take one of the worst things introduced in world of warcraft and build a game around it.
Are they ever going to make this game interesting past leveling up and exploring?
This is a part of the endgame. The actual end-game people like the OP refuse to even attempt to do, but instead whine.
The end-game of GW2 IS dynamic events; the Living Story; sPvP; and WvW. In other words. The Dragon Bash event going on right now is the end-game.
If you bothered reading…. anyways dungeon gear is obtained in about 20 or so 10 minute dungeon runs. after that all that is needed is dailies. which take 30 days minimum, but most people dont play every single day so they miss laurels. Then if you have more than 1 character or build its back to doing them…
and then after you BiS every slot there’s 0 to do since…. there is no challenging content which would even require said gear. So the last phase of endgame really is dailies. I guess I’m one of those weirdos who likes to be challenged (like in GW1?).
Through the Living Story system that has only been alive for a few months that “challenge” you seek will come. First and foremost people need to realize this game is only 10 months old. Most games don’t even make updates till have at least a year and a half on them. Just be glad they are doing something and not doing anything at all

No!! absolutely not. no way. nope
They were expecting the game to be just like other MMOs and they wanted to be able to kill stuff in a blow like they can in other game.
I got mine and I wasn’t even expecting anything. caught me totally off guard with this random act of (kindness)

Unfortunately there is more and more competition leaking into the game. The promise for cooperation seems to be dying a slow death.
Partly this is due to what has happened in other games and those that come form them bring the flaw with them.
Anet imo really hasn’t done a good job re-educating players to the co-op method. It doesn’t help when they bring in items that cause people to beat or out do the other person.
Since people for the most part do not change without repercussions. I feel these need to be introduced or Anet needs to get back to the core of co-op over competition and do things in events that will not promote the latter but do engage the former
excellent post got a +1 from me
Need to have some way of helping folks with a gamblimg problem. one person last night went through around 20 gold then his cultural armor just on Moa races
As we entered into Dragon Bash the Holographic projectors went online across the zones of the game.
I founded it saddening that people turned getting these projectors into a competition instead of a community effort.
I witness people placing speed buffs upon themselves. Purposely training mobs so that when the leash broke they would returning blocking people behind them from getting to the projectors.
I watched as one person started to setup turrets then another rush in a pop the holograms before the engineer was ready.
All these events are competitive behavior. One of the things this game was suppose to help end. You need to address this issue for the next event. Like for example how you did the pinatas. Can you do that for the open world?
One of the elite skills is the Philly Cheese Steak Golem that comes to your aid with a Heartburn attack and sauteed onion bolos
Keep that term in mind, experimenting. Even using GW1 as a model, Anet is bucking the sytem here with GW2 by not implementing gear/content progression and the Trinity, tried and true models of successful MMO’s that have come before it. To keep from stagnating they have to experiment, and occasionally they’re going to fail.
But failure shouldn’t be held against them when they’re the only ones trying something really new.
Anet has admitted that they could fail in their endeavors. The key here is they are will and able to try something different.
Even the fact that they originally pushed DEs as their end-game they have through experimentation expanded on that idea to the living world event system that they are now saying is the direction they are going for end-game. This means that this time next year this game will not be like it is today.
that is something other MMOs can not say from the most part since they keep their core game and add to it. Anet is willing and able to change their core game to the point of stating they my destroy entire zones that now exist into something different.
Here is my few on your request.
First off I see nothing wrong with you using a rifle, but you have to understand why I say this.
There are a lot of bosses in this game where melee will get you killed quickly. So this is how I manage my main Warrior (I have several but we will stick to the main atm)
I have him setup up with Greatsword/Hammer, but I carry with me both a rifle and a longbow.
When I participate in Maw I but up my hammer and get my longbow out. I am then for clarification using Greatsword/Longbow. I keep this setup till after the three shaman come out with the three portals on the other side of the map. I use the AoE from the longbow on the three shaman.
Once they are dead I head over toward the portals. As I head over I then replace my Greatsword with the Rifle. So again for clarity I am using Rifle/Longbow.
I use the rifle on the portals since it is a single target range weapon. Once the portals are down I then take on the Boss Shaman at range alternating between the two range weapons but mainly use the Rifle.
I actually find all the melee combinations all worth while in their own account and depending on my mood that day on which one I feel like using.
Out of all of them I would but my personal taste rating as follows (note this is how I like them it is not a statement of which is better then the other)
1) Greatsword/Hammer
2) Sword/Axe
3) Sword/Warhorn
4) Axe/Warhorn
5) Sword/Sheild
6) Mace/Mace
7) Axe/Axe
8) Sword/Sword
9) Axe/sword
2 through 9 I don’t list the secondary weapon group since they are really already listed. But with all I have at least 1 range weapon I have with them.
Atm GW2 is not rewarding in terms of time put into the game
Nor should any game.
As you stated they have modeled this game for the casual player. These players range in age from 25 to 60.
Who has the most disposal income? people 30 to 55.
If you have more disposal income are you more willing to spend it on a video game? I know I am and I’m 53.
This is not a game for hardcore players. You are in the minority which is ever shrinking. Thank goodness.
EDIT: the bottom line to your issue is “the bottom line”
Who would you want playing your game if you made one?
The guy the spent 19 hours a day on the game and spent $20 for gems once a month or the guy that plays the game for 3 hours a day and spends $100 dollars for gems a month.
Anet has voted for the latter. Good for them
(edited by Krosslite.1950)
The best players tend to be humble. They have a quiet confidence in their own abilities, learn from their mistakes, and accept correction and criticism from others. Overtime this leads them to be masters of their class.
This also makes it near-impossible to find them. People who constantly talk about themselves or brag tend to have something to hide—usually their own incompetence.
This is the answer to your question
This seems like one of those things that you see Anet doing in round table meetings in 2009 or 2010.
I have a feeling that is what happened. You do realize your two handers do a lot of damage don’t you?
So this post in actuality boils down to please nerf my two-handers so I can give it more stats
As the person that gets the original intent of this post all wrong….the award goes to ::drum roll:: Krosslite!! L2R
Dude, get a clue, when did I say nerf the power of the 2h? I actually said quite the opposite…give it a second sigil slot
K, thx, bye.
T o the guy that never thought out what he was asking for ::drum roll :: Kitedyou.
All you did was confirm exactly what you meant.
You are asking to make 2 handers OP… THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!
to get your wish they will do what I said… nerf the weapon so you can have your desire.
Think before you post and before you answer.
2 handers have the highest damage ratings of the game.. mainly due to being slower then 1 handers.
Your desire would unbalance the game so as to fix this imbalance to get what you want they would nerf the 2 handers.
Sheesh the ego that some people have in these forums. To think they are all perfect and better then someone else to try and degrade them in a response when they are clearly ignorant in how MMOs are made.
I have been a customer of MMOs for 20 year. How about you?

My Understanding of what a “Raid” is as follows:
A large (min. 20 to max. of 50) players engaged in an orchestrated encounter with a high end boss in an open or instanced environment. It is managed by a raid leader with sub-commanders in control of attack groups or objective control groups. They then follow a scripted plan that is repeated over and over again. Participators or reward event completion points which allow them to compete for items dropped in a roll. Those that do not cooperate with the command are removed from the raid and banned from participation with that raid group in the future. This is a highly elitist setup and mentality. As well as control freaks.
Having never played an “Elite Mission” in GW I have no comment on this.
As to raids in GW2. If the above scenario even has the simplest chance of becoming part of this game I would most likely start to plan on leaving and start looking for a new one.
The wording “elite Missions” though gives different image to my mind. I see in that term a ten group going into an instanced environment (which I really do not support anymore instanced gaming added). They would then through co-ordination and communication work their way to an high-end boss and be force on the spot to figure out the best way to defeat it.
If you can add randomness and remove the rigid scripted formula from an encounter that makes it truly a challenge. It also cuts down on the control freaks that fancy themselves elitist.
(edited by Krosslite.1950)
PvP – generally titles
PvE – it’s a crapshoot really. But the one thing I look for is achievement points since that’s the closest thing. If I see a lvl 80 with 3000 achievement points vs. one with 800 points, I’ll take the former. If you can’t see that, then armor set.
If the guy has a full Arah set, he’s good (Arah is the ‘hardest’ dungeon)
that is an elitist answer.
It is not the armor that makes the character good or bad is the person at the KB.
You have have a full set of the best armor and be a terrible player. Mostly because this type of player thinks of one thing. Themselves. Not the other guy
they also stated they would go through each race for the winter festival. Asura was just the one that went first.
I started laughing when I read the title of this thread.
This game is already tailored for casual players but that is too casual.
They have to draw a line someplace and to reward you for not playing is on the side of the line not to expect to see
here is a statement made by an Anet employee at the end of another thread about the community and feedback:
Okay everybody, this argument is getting a bit circular now. What’s important is the following. The forum population is not a majority, but does provide valuable feedback which we do take into account, along with feedback from other sources. The silent majority is not all in-favor or against. Their opinions vary as much as any group of people’s opinions tend to.They are players just like you. They voice their opinions by either playing or not playing.Others not on the forums show their opinions on their personal blogs, fansites, twitter and facebook.Everybody’s opinions are important and valuable.I hope this clears some things up. I’m going to close this thread now. 2. Larger Groups (Preferably 10-12)Instanced to stop Zerging
P.S – To answer the OPs questions, “Raids” in layman terms is “Large Grouped” difficult ontent. And not necessarily the emotional baggage that many ascribe to it.
If you haven’t read this article you need to especially the paragraph entitled “Zergs:”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/devon-carver-on-the-future-of-world-vs-world/
That’s how PvE is supposed to work… you go into a fight not knowing what to expect, and whatever the outcome, next time you’ll be better prepared. Sometimes “next time” is in the same instance because the mobs wiped you, but you think players should just keep beating their heads against the wall because they foolishly brought a build that doesn’t work in a particular fight?
We already have the possibility to change our major traits and optional skills, swap weapons, or even go back to town, re-train and waypoint back to the fight. This suggestion would just make it more convenient to do that last part, and you think it’s a bad idea because it would be unfair to the enemy mobs?
The point of immersion is the journey. Becoming a quick change artist destroys immersion. You should have to go back to town to change period. That makes you think.
This I want to make it simpler mentality is what has destroyed many MMOs. So you have to send more time doing something. Who’s fault is that? Yours not the games. Because you didn’t plan ahead and immerse yourself into the game.
Making things easy is lazy and self severing. There is already too much of that in the real world. Do we have to bring into the game meant to escape reality as well?
This was not commentary. just giving info. everyone has an opinion. none were asked for here
This is fine, but you have to understand that an online forum is a place of discussion, so just by posting it you are asking indirectly for some sort of a dialogue; to me it seems like the understood purpose of posting here. I don’t think he was trying to tear you down, just offering a different point of view.
I understand that, but his arguement was flawed since as I stated this has been already used successfully in other MMOs. plus he was a bit rude to the point that one of his postings was removed
I don’t understand your argument, though. You’re saying that because it was done in other MMO’s that it’s being done in this?
This is as far as I got in your response. It appears you didn’t read the first post at all.
Again the first post was a suggestion on how it could be applied to GW2.
Is it be done here? As far as I can tell no it is not. My post was meant purely as an aid. That is why; one it is placed in the “player helping player” thread; and second I did not expect any type of replies especially massively negative one.
(edited by Krosslite.1950)
I endorse this thread. A few cutesy items here are fine, but I do agree that it’s getting out of hand. Not everyone wants their character wearing a Panda hat.
I think, to counterract this, the next set of gem store skins should be designed by Todd McFarlane.
I support this suggestion

They could have it so you can swap specs for 5-10 silver if you do it without a trainer. Like maybe 5 in PvE and 10 in WvW. Scaling depending on player level, and maybe decrease the price at the trainer.
Are you suggesting that it should be more expensive to swap traits through the builds? For frugal players, this would make build swapping relatively mute because they would still have to take the time to travel to find a trainer. On the other hand, I think a trainer should cost more money (although the whole money sink is a frustrating one to begin with) because you are basically paying their salaries (if you look at the game economy that way).
No, I’m saying it should cost more to swap on the fly. Like in the middle of dungeons, or running around in the open world.
PvE should have it has the system is now. no changes. As I stated above once you enter a PvP environment you should be able to switch to a PvP spec. I am totally against “on the fly” trait swapping
Could you perhaps shed some light onto why you are against it? We have seen a lot of arguments for, but none yet against.
Well to me. this would unbalance the game. I am not saying it is balanced now, but allowing on the fly trait swapping anywhere would allow someone to for example:
Start beating on a MOB in PvE. they start to lose. they back off and do a trait swap for better protection. they then return to combat and kick the MOB to there and back.
To me this is an unfair use of the mechanics of the game. That is why I would support one setup for PvE and another for all PvP, but never an on the fly ability. just think of my example in a PvP environment. wouldn’t you feel cheated if someone did that to you.
You must plan ahead not when the mood hits you. it diminishes the emersion into the game
Please read this just released article:

They have added some POIs and WPs. just go get them. only bad thing is once you get 100% you don’t get awarded for it again
The latest case of “farming nerfs” was actually a bug fix. I’m aware of this because I was asked to help identify the issue. The area in question contained a spawn that was defined to have more creatures than spots for those creatures to spawn. So for example, 25 skelks spawning on 10 points. This is not intended. Not only does it just look absurd, it’s also leads to some extremely bizarre play conditions. This is one of those bugs that’s so buggy, the fact that our toolset even allowed this to happen is a bug. Another bug caused this bug. Bugception.
If we didn’t want players to be able to farm, we wouldn’t have put in the huge (and free) magic and gold find buffs for Southsun Cove. We wouldn’t drop loot from the giant mobs of creatures that appear in upscaled events. We certainly wouldn’t have put in chests that appear after events which cycle every 8 to 10 minutes. How quickly all of that content goes completely forgotten in the angered responses to a simple change to an area that was clearly bugged. :/
On farming in general, there’s a sweet spot that combines good loot with fun, engaging content. I think Southsun had that going for it, especially before certain aspects of the content were isolated as optimal. As someone who’s actively working on upcoming Living World releases, I’m aiming to find that sweet spot and hit it in a big way.
The way I read this. this was an exploit and people need to get over themsleves and be glad they weren’t banned for using said exploit

Moving around existing UI elements and having control over where they are placed on the screen does not have to involve any client modification or third-party tools.
Once implemented by Anet that is true. until then these rules are a valid respone to the thread name
Duel builds one for PvE and one for all PvP in this game I see as no problem. Since they are basically separate games why not have a duel spec option.
Since I do not PvP anymore, but I do remember what it was like in other games, having one spec setup for PvE and one for PvP was normal.
I will not speak to sPvP and WvW having separate specs since I do neither.
I also do not know the full cost involved in repsecing but if it is not the much I don’t see the need to change the current system. If it is expensive then I would say why not.

I think the monthly’s are fine.
Remember they are meant for the entire player base not just those that go through them quickly. I would not doubt that a few folks didn’t get their monthly completed. The core of the player base is casual players who don’t have a lot of time to play you know.
EDIT: not this last month but the month before I had a week left in the month when I was able to complete it. Last month I did it in a couple of weeks.

I’m reading another thread about not enough end game content. Which has me thinking, we really are way too hard core in how we devour content. There’s no way any developer can keep up with us. In this, I’d like to apologize to all the Dev’s. You have to put up with a lot from us. Hope we’re rewarding you enough for it
Now where’s my Angel Wing back piece!!!!!
If folks would read the living stories and special events like Dragon Bash are part of the end-game content
This should help
not going to get an argument from me on this issue on the cutsie stuff.
ooooooo I can wear a plush bear cap on my head how exciting!!!!
please note sarcasm.
I am enjoying the random temp skins. This adds uniqueness to those that are able to get these skins. On this note though I must add. Sometime the requirements are way to high for a skin. Legendary is one thing, but a skin??
This was not commentary. just giving info. everyone has an opinion. none were asked for here
I had 2 elementalist. Had I got in to the level 40s with both started getting my rear handed to me many times. Even redid the traits to get as much protection ans possible. still a fail.
I have since deleted both elementalist and have replaced them with a warrior and a guardian
it may or may not return with some modifications in the future though. Not anytime soon though.
Maybe next year
One of the main issues many have been complaining about is zergs. They stated they are mindless masses that don’t follow the way an event is to go. At first in a game that can be true, but all events no matter where they are have a pattern. The goal of an organized group is to know where and what this pattern is. In DAoC, WoW and Warhammer Online my former guilds I worked with learned how to move the zerg in the direction they wanted, so they could get and maintain the goals they desired to get. Here is a review of how and what they did.
First go to the events that are regular zergs. One prime example is Maw. This one actually has the zerg being managed partly by the NPC as he walks from the stating point of the event to the Maw itself. You will also notice that people take up strategic locations as the event moves forward. This is something that guilds can manage very well with voice chat.
When you have events that have multiple objectives but no NPCs to follow you have to get a key group together that will be your “herders” Theses should be a command or someone that does high damage or even the fanciest armor. This draws the zergs attention especially when the herders keep in a tight group. When you have split objectives you move “spotters” into these areas. They don’t need be as flashy as the herders but they do need to be able to communicate well in voice chat.
Here you employee the reserve team. With the spotters in the key locations. They will in turn call out if the objective they are in is starting to spawn. If the zerg and herders are busy with a main objective at the time the reserves come into play. They should be placed in a central location but also a location that will not distract the zerg. They should also have group speed boost within them. So as to be able to move quickly. They move into to support the spotter until the spawn is defeated or the zerg herders can move the zerg into help.
Herders will have one person that does zone statements about where they are going. While you have two to three other herders talking in say stating the same thing, but rotating. Usually before the zone announcement is made. If the zerg sees one person making all the statements you start to lose them. This helps the zerg to head in the direction you desire.
Applying this will help not only in open world events but WvW as well if a zerg is present there. As stated in the first paragraph. This is a proven model especial in DAoC and Warhammer Online and can be translated easily over to GW2.
Vet dailies are like only 4 kills. People spend a few minutes there and move on. I don’t see the problem here. If you need it too, help them kill it, you get your daily and then you can move on.
You would think this would work, but unfortunately it doesn’t.
Some of the campers have been a bit on the uber side and can nearly one shot them. you have the race just to get in enough damage for it to count for you.
That is why personally I am more in favour of my latter suggestion which forces them to move on
Edit: the way it is now starts to make it competitive instead of ccooperative
(edited by Krosslite.1950)
been seeing a lot of vet camping on dailies lately
Could you place some coding in that once a vet in a certain spot is killed either inrease the respawn time or make it not count for dailies til that daily returns again
They have already stated they will make parts of the esport
s large-dungeon (i.e. raid) – only those who wanted to work towards the achievements and/or cosmetic rewards, and/or participate in challening content with their semi-large group of friends/guildies, would apply.
This is how I see this statement:
A video game elitist is an individual who only socializes with others that they deem worthy. Within video games they create a clique (commonly a guild or clan) and only allow those individuals to participate in their activities while viewing themselves better than everyone else in the society.
An elitist will brag about themselves, they do not put down others openly, they must always be heard, and always correct (in their minds) – an elitist will help others just so that they receive attention/compliments to assure themselves that they are superior, the whole idea of “stroking the ego.” This pretty much sums up what a true elitist is but do not confuse this with a “fake” elitist.
http://gamingpsych.blogspot.com/2010/12/video-game-elitist.html
The wording made by the OP screams of this. This thread is not a thread to improve content but to get Anet to make it easier for elitist to become more so in this game.
Again. Many like myself left other game to come this this to get away from elitism. Instanced content no matter the size is and elitist mentality and should not be made welcome. Especially in a game that is suppose to place the community over the single person or group.
Again I state I am fully against any increase in instanced content.
Will they add this content? maybe.
Will we see elitism more and more in this game? Yes. It is already here and getting worse.
I am done with this thread.
agree with above post
System is fine as is
Bank is accessible but all your characters and is a place to save your money.
To me this request seem more aimed toward making it easier for a hacker to see what you have and decide if stealing the account is worth while
Who is asking for a WoW clone? Certainly not I; However I am asking for the “Elite” content we experienced in Guildwars 1 to make a return. Those “Raid’s” allowed players to experience “Harder” content with great rewards such as: Rare Materials, Exclusive dungeon themed items(No stat progression), Achievements,Summoning stones and Large amounts of Gold. Why are you against instanced content? We currently have it in game and it should be expanded upon. Arenanet can’t simply focus on openworld content that would be stupid.
Since they advertized this version of GW an open world and community centered gaming experience, as well as a game for all playing styles. Moving more toward content that caters to a minority and exclusionary group would be against the very mandate they touted for years. That is why I am against instanced content.
They already have a ton of instanced content… pvp, dungeons, fotm, stormy mode, personal story, certain living story aspects, etc. This proposal wouldn’t break the mold.
There is much now because people don’t wish to leave thier comfort zone. they act like instances is all this gvame has to offer which is not true.
Could they improve the other aspects of the game? yes
But inreasing instances in itself would break the mold Anet made to cater to a vast spectrum of playing styles.Break what mold? Arenanet never stated that this game was to cater exclusively to open world. I see no reason Arenanet can’t make Instanced and Non Instanced content. You are acting as if “Instanced” content is bad; that just seems a bit ludicrous. It seems counterintuitive for Arenanet to work solely on open world content as the first game they made was all about “Instanced” content.
As I stated Anet designed the game to suit many playing styles. At this time there has been more and more instanced content released then changes to open world.
Nearly every special event or holiday has a 5-man instance with cheese open world content.
Instanced content caters more to those that seek to have total control over what is going on and/or elitist. This segregates those like myself that don’t wish to be forced into groups like that.
I wish to have full freedom to move and go as I please, which is open world content.
Can they improve open world and should they? Yes.
People come into this game form other games where instances was the end game.
Anet as made it clear the that end-game for GW2 is the open world content.
So I am against more instanced content and always will be.
I have been in elites guild and raids. I have been in open world raids. I had more fun in the latter.
Gaining control over chaos is much more fun and challenging then have a pre-charted out course that everyone must do or get removed from the group.

Could they improve the other aspects of the game? yes
But inreasing instances in itself would break the mold Anet made to cater to a vast spectrum of playing styles.
